Carefree Challenger: 8/10. The Spectacle cost is a bit high, and could probably just be "destroy target creature" re: Ravenous ChupacabraAtlani was not entirely prepared for combat at that moment, sword undrawn, and bow still hung on her shoulder, though her shield rested on her forearm. She threw the shield up to block the axe, giving the cat a good look at the wings inscribed into it. Should Doer have been to Tarkir before Sarkhan's revisions, he would surely recognize the Mardu Horde's insignia. Beyond that, Atlani responds to Doer's playful smile with her own. "I suppose I don't have too much choice in the matter, do I?" She draws her blade with the other hand and lazily tries to stab at Doer. Beneficence Guard Creature - Spirit Knight When ~ leaves the battlefield, put X +1/+1 counters on target creature you control, where X is its power. 2/3 "If you can beat one of them, you can beat anyone." The cat blocks the attack, turning the Weapon into a dueling rapier. He trades a few more strikes before putting away the sword. "Yeah, meow brother was right, you are good. Tell meow, where did you learn to fight? I've seen a sigil simeowlar but different to the one on your shield before. Are you a Kolaghan warrior meowstress?" The cat looks at the weaponry Atlani carries with interest. "Oh, I'm Doer, by the way. Meow brother always tells meow that I shouldn't forget to introduce meowself before fighting someowone."
Kholagan's Eviscerator Creature - Cat Warrior Dash When ~ enters the battlefield, it deals 1 damage to each player for each creature that player controls that is green, white or blue. 3/2
Beneficence Guard: I like this, a solid uncommon that feels kinda Tarkir-y. 8/10

March Inquisitor is either overcosted or undertuned I think. The cantrip part seems fine, but the second ability I'm pretty sure could safely trigger on any draw. 7/10The living statue smiled, her marble surface flexing like it was smooth skin, save for the slight blocky-ness of her construction. "No, you're fine, just taking a nap. Haven't seen anyone walk this way unfortunately." She rolls her shoulders back, a cracking noise being audible. "Ah, that felt good. Nothing like a morning stretch to get you going, right?" Now that the statue was moving, Atlani could tell that she carried herself like an athlete, seeming quite nimble despite her towering height. Warm-Up Instant Scry 1. Sculpt target permanent you control. (Put a +1/+1, loyalty, or charge counter on it, or remove a counter from it to draw a card.)
---------------------------------------- Artists around Candezza start their day by working on scraps of larger works, hoping to prepare their bodies and minds for the day of work ahead.Note: Sculpt has a permanent-type-hack thing going on like sunburst. +1/+1 is creatures, loyalty is planeswalkers, and charge is everything else. Warm Up: 10/10. Opt but it’s sculpt is something I can get behind. The note makes stuff like this technically abusable in cases of like “for each type of counter on something” by putting loyalty and charge counters on creatures but that’s such an edge case it’s nbd. “A shame.” A statue in surprisingly good shape could be useful. I wonder now if my tongue is sharp enough to persuade stone.“I suppose. What brings you out here? Hardly an audience to admire you properly between towns as you are.” Conceit’s Mirror Artifact - Equipment : Attach ~ to target creature. Activate only as a sorcery. : Put a charge counter on ~. Equipped creature gets +1/-1 for each charge counter on ~. When equipped creature dies, remove all charge counters from ~. Conceit's Mirror is a solid 8/10 to me. The statue cracked her rock knuckles as she said, "I'm not really the attention-seeker type. Prefer to wander these sort of half-wild, abandoned places improving myself. The serene atmosphere fills me with a kind of inspiration cities never will." The statue kneeled down and extended her arm out to Atlani. "Oh please, where are my manners? My name is Pietra." Oath of Pietra Legendary Enchantment - Oath RWhen Oath of Pietra enters the battlefield, proliferate. If you would put one or more counters on a planeswalker, you put that many counters plus an additional loyalty counter on it instead. "Until I can sculpt mountains with my bear hands, my work shall continue."

Kolaghan's Eviscerator: 6/10. Yeah, this is the sort of thing I wouldn't want someone to be able to do every turn. Especially given how likely it is for G and W to have a zillion creatures and be very limited in their ability to kill it at instant speed or get it out of your hand. Atlani looks with disdain at the mention of the dragonlord. "Atlani Swiftblade. I am no warrior for a dragon; we were once the Mardu Horde, led by the Khan Zurgo." The disdain for Kolaghan on her face shifts slowly into pride for her people, "I trained under many, both the greatest warriors of the Horde, and the wisest of the Jeskai Way, though if you know the Mardu only by Kolaghan's name, you'd likely only know the Jeskai by Ojutai's."Her rant concluded, she sighs, and examines Doer's gear, looking suspiciously at The Weapon. "What of you, then? You and your brother fought well against those of Elsewhere. And I've not seen many shapeshifting weapons in my time." In Doer's examination of Atlani's weaponry, he sees strange text ornately inscribed across the top of her shield, along her blade, and cut jaggedly into the inside of her bow. Jeskai Redirection Instant Prevent all noncombat damage that would be dealt to you this turn. Whenever damage is prevented this way, you gain that much life. "One must be able to parry the deathfire, and rise above it, lest they succumb to its torturous flames."
Note: The text is written in Old Tarkir, which cajun established can't just be read by all planeswalkers (link to interaction where Atlani bought the sword and shield from Zweil)

And while you're in line with the other Oaths for having "ETB effect + superfriends effect", the flavor text should have some variation of "I will keep watch" I don't make the rules. Also I assume you mean bare hands and not bear hands. But hey if Pietra has bear hands then power to her. Atlani shakes the statue's hand, cautiously aware of the fact that Pietra could probably crush her hand if she wanted. "Atlani. I suppose it is fairly relaxing out here, isn't it? If I may, what is it you're improving yourself for? Or is it just for its own sake?" Warkhan{Warkhan}Atlani sat on a log next to her campfire, her elbows resting on her knees as she looked at the shield with her clan’s signature wings emblazoned on it, the third Edict written across the top. The shield laid propped up against a tree, and next to it was a sheathed sword, and while she could not see the first Edict inscribed upon its elegant blade, Atlani knew it was there. To conquer is to eat. -- ---- -- -- -----. Victory or Death.
She held her bow in one hand, a dagger in the other, and tore the words of the last remaining Edict into the wood. Just over two weeks since she bought the sword and shield from Zweil. But how many months since she arrived on this dismal plane? How many years since she first left home, with that damnable waste of iron, to end up abandoned here? How many years since she’s seen her home thriving and untouched by dragons? …how many more until she’ll see it again? Of course, it was no longer just her plane, either. First the dragons take Tarkir, then the creatures of Elsewhere come for the Arena? If fighting such threats was to become a more permanent position, it was one she could spend eons filling. And Nai… of course, she would never admit it aloud, but she had become quite attached to the cat in the short time they’d been together. How she longed to see her shining eyes again, to feel her soft fur between her fingers, hear her purrs. Would it even be the same if I were to summon another? I cannot know unless I try. Atlani retrieved the scroll she bought from Zweil from her bag and read it over again. “It should be fine.”
She took a deep breath, and tried to focus green and white mana into the spell. Her mind wandered to Nai. To the fallen. To Tarkir. A red rune drew itself out in the snow. No, that should be green. Another deep breath. If she was to think of Tarkir, perhaps she could guide herself to its white aspects. Tarkir was balanced, orderly, in its chaos. It was glorious, and it shall be again. The khans will reclaim the plane, and I shall cut down any number of- er, wait-A black glow with a white outline coated the rune. At least there’s some white? Before it could be fixed further, the spell completed, and the rune disappeared in a flash of light. When it died down, another white cat appeared in its place, but this one was… different. Pale eyes, thin black stripes along milk white fur, claws sharper and longer than dagger blades, that looked like they may as well be made of steel. Raw strength compared to Nai’s grace, the beast’s eye level rested just below Atlani’s shoulders. A horror to any who opposed it. But it stood with purpose, discipline. Its blank eyes looked up at Atlani. It knew its master, and she looked upon it cautiously. She approached it, and reached a hand out to hold its head, feeling the fur between her fingers. It was thin, coarse. Not what I wanted. Perhaps what I need. …I need an army, and I need a way off this damned plane. I need to find Selem. I need to find others from the ruins, and convince them to come back with me. That might be a start. Heh, we might clear the dragons within the week if we had all of them. She addressed the beast as she would a lieutenant, though talked mostly for her own benefit. She absent-mindedly ran her hands through the beast’s fur, which irritated it, though it made no audible objection. “The bastard could be anywhere by now, and I doubt that just following rumors of fanciful swords will get us anywhere fast. That said, it may be our only lead. We need to determine who Selem left with after the battle.” Unless he was never there. Surely, he would have been present for such a massive battle, no? This even assumes he is still on the plane at all... She shook her head and retrieved her sword and shield. No time for doubt, it’s the only lead I have.
In a town far from anything, in a forge that made no weapons, was a smith hammering at a metal plate. Still can't believe he just throws me into a fight with the god of tales, and then up and leaves? I’ll have to ask Miss Leira for translations of those books now! Wonder if that’s the sorta thing they have a doohickey for or if they have to do it by hand. She raised her hammer, and slammed it down, as though she would not mind if the hammer went straight through the metal beneath it. The door opened, and a woman strode through wearing coarse furs, armor made of leather and steel, carrying a sword at her hip, with a shield and a bow on her back, all in styles that Yenna had never seen. Less so than the weapons, Yenna was intimidated by the warrior’s eyes. They looked knowing, and angry. Yenna shrunk under her gaze. Her father was manning the counter, and while disturbed, he stood strong under Atlani’s intensity. After some discussion that was hard to hear given the banging of metal, Atlani approached Yenna herself. “Welcome to the Foxtail Forge, how can I help you?” Yenna gently put down her hammer. “I hear you have a particular ornate sword. It’s mine. I’d like it back.” “I… was afraid you’d ask about that. I don’t have it anymore. It left.”
This news made the warrior no more agreeable. “Left? Where, then, might it have gone?”
Yenna moved around the anvil, putting it between her and Atlani. “I don’t know. I know who has it, but I don’t know where they are.”
Atlani backed off, satisfied. “Speak, then. Who wields the blade now?” “Well, he went on about a few people, one of them is Lothaire, god- er, a knight, as Selem said, who likes stories, and who likes…” she tried not to remember her experience with the Knight-General and the Magus, “...making them real.” “I’ve heard of Lothaire.” Selem would be difficult to retrieve if Lothaire has him; I doubt they’d give him up easily. “Who else?” “An elf, Aelewin. I’ve never had the pleasure, but they sound agreeable enough. He didn’t give me many details. And a dragonborn, Argel. A bounty hunter. That one is my fault, I sent him after Selem after he left.”
The warrior smiles. “I can work with this. Thank you for your cooperation." She turns and leaves. Yenna sighs, and returns to her project, hammering more quickly but also more precisely. As if this winter couldn’t get any weirder…

She removes her cloak, hanging it on a hook in the workshop before walking over to the hearth and feeding it dry logs, poking and prodding at the embers until they light again, properly heating the room. Once the fire's going, she turns back to Arandu. "You were doing a lot of looking around at the buildings. Are they that different from the ones on your plane?"Expert Duplicator Creature - Human Artificer If you would create one or more token artifacts, create that many plus one instead. 1/3 Arandu observes with equal parts politeness and curiosity. Though he has been invited into an acquaintance's home, it would be rude of him to presume what was and wasn't permitted for guests. As such, he busies himself with observing the room whilst Yenna labors, performing a short nod to the man behind the counter, a greeting, it seemed, before turning back to Yenna. "I would say so, yes. If it were materials alone, I wouldn't be so surprised, but many of your buildings stand a full section taller than the ones I'm used to. Your craftsmen certainly are ambitious, working with what they have." Biogenic Windfall Instant Create X tapped Canister tokens. (They’re artifacts with “T, Sacrifice this artifact: Untap target permanent. Activate only during your turn.”)“The bounty of nature has always been the deciding factor of our prosperity.” Expert Duplicator: 8/10. It's a neat rare with a splashy effect, I don't have much room to judge it outside of that.

Turning the Cannisters into whatever hypothetical artifacts I have to make copies of He can't suppress a chuckle at her enthusiasm, taking the proffered seat, rubbing his hands together as the warmth from the fire radiated into him. "Nothing so miraculous, though I don't deny we utilize certain resources that aren't available on other words." From within his cloak, which he notably hadn't taken off yet, he pulls out a capsule, a curious rounded cylinder with a waxy sheen to it, no bigger than one of Arandu's fists. He offers it to Yenna, holding it out in front of him until she takes it, or refuses him. "Wood and stone aren't unheard of, even in the Intisuyu cities some buildings use them still. Metal is more common the closer to the empire you are, but in most places you're more likely to find materials like the one you're holding." He gestures to the capsule he's offered, the material unreactive to either of their touch. "We discovered the means to create a material from carefully cultivated crops, and my organization has been working to utilize it outside of the imperial cities for communities living in the far reaches of Pacha Marka." He paused to collect himself, the excitement in the room clearly not contained to Yenna alone. Providing a use other than mana-fixing Ah, this was an issue of fundamentals, it seemed. Arandu would have to remind himself that the material he was discussing was, relatively speaking, outside the scope of many planes he was likely to visit, and might be for some time. It was fundamentally different, to a degree, to the work of druids who might merely shape nature that already existed, but it wasn't impossible to explain, it just required an explanation that didn't rely on the context of Pacha Marka. "Wood and stone, to start with your earlier examples, existed already when our ancestors came into this world," he began, leaning forward as he started in earnest, "and eventually, they come across the idea that these things could be used to make things that benefit themselves and their communities." He gestured around them to many parts of the room that used either of them, in some shape or form. And over time, you learn how best to use them. How to more efficiently fell a tree and turn it into lumber. The best practices for harvesting stone, and shaping it to your needs." "But these materials are things that already existed, and though our ancestors learned to use them well, we of today still are limited in its uses in the same way our ancestors were. Wood still burns. Stone still shatters. Nothing has changed besides our perspective on things." He looks to the forge, and his eyes catch on the many metal fixtures and bits in the room. "Metal, and glass, on the other hand, are things we have turned one object found in our world into another, more useful material. Yes, it still has limitations. Glass is hardly something you would build a house from, and metal, though strong, does have weaknesses that its rigidity cannot answer. There are still rules to their use, realities of the material that hold us back." He looks back to the capsule in Yenna's hand, and a pleased grin lights up his face. "Q'ayrumi you might consider more similar to the latter two, but plant life does not naturally become the material you hold in your hand. My ancestors, on Pacha Marka, discovered how to make this material by creating plants that could be used to make it, and though it is not without weakness and limitation, it is us, the creators of Q'ayrumi, who can modify it to suit our needs, and not be beholden to the weaknesses inherent in the material." Arandu cleared his throat, having given a bit of lecture on the fundamental nature of a material integral to his society, and required a moment to catch his breath before continuing. "Unless your question is more literal, in which case the simple answer is it's converted plant material, prepared in a way that makes malleable for any number of uses."Q'ayrumi Sculptor Creature - Human Druid When Q’ayrumi Sculptor enters the battlefield, create a Canister token. Arandu cleared his throat again, before motioning for Yenna to hand the capsule back to him. "It depends on the individual, I've had teachers who could do more with tools than someone with the gift for shaping it with magic," he started once more, his fingertips beginning to glow as he held the capsule in his hand. "Most of the magic merely replicates what a tool could use, but with some practice, you can do more with your own will than anything made to shape it." The capsule began to unfurl at Arandu's touch, one hand held above it as it began to reform before Yenna's eyes. Now that the material was alive, she'd be able to see layers between sections of the capsule as it opened up, shapes and complexities becoming visible and than reshaped in a matter of seconds as the material was repurposed. Soon the capsule began to float upwards from Arandu's hand, giving him free reign to manipulate it into what seemed to be an elaborate flower of some kind, petals shaped from the exterior of the capsule while its interior seemed to be something else entirely, glowing with Arandu's influence. Eventually, once Arandu had finished, the flower floated back into his hand, but the interior section still hummed with the magic that had set it in motion. Pleased with his work, he handed it back to Yenna. "Unfortunately I did not bring my tools with me. Much of the appeal of using magic to shape Q'ayrumi is you do not need them, and anything I did bring is for maintenance and detail work even I find difficult. What I have made here though, is possible largely through magic alone." He leaned back into his chair, seemingly satisfied with the demonstration. Ok, so he can be moved. Which means I can get him on uneven footing. This fight will be over shortly after that.Argel could hear the ones behind him moving about, but his attention had to be focused on the one in front of him. The way I figure, this sword-wielding thief could have new tricks. If they do, it'd be better to get them out while I'm ready for them. Either way, they definitely seem the type to be provoked into attacking and leaving themselves open."Oh, come on. You got better tricks than throwing pebbles, right? Show me what you got!" Holding his sword aside, his other hand motions a universally understood sign. Come get me.He much preferred to be aggressive, but there was a time and place for defense. Argel stood in a stance he was taught long ago, one which allowed him access to many different techniques to counteract an opponent's attacks. Legs slightly spread and low to the ground, he was ready to dodge if another rock was thrown but was low enough to the ground to hold his ground if he was pushed. He was also ready to use the wind magic trick he used before to leap towards the thief this time, given an opportunity. Defense Tutor Creature - Dragon Advisor Whenever a creature you control levels up, it gains hexproof until end of turn. 2/3 Unifying Fortification: 8/10. Seems a bit weird to have a creature able to get all kinds of counters, including those just used to mark stuff or counters it can't utilize like charge counters, but I don't think its problematic. Seems a good rate with cantrip attached. Probably shines the best in a context with keyword counters. Defense Tutor: 7/10. I like the card, I like what it does, but any card with "Tutor" in the name should tutor for something. Are we gonna just play into this? Let us see what he does when he is prepared.Selem next sends a message to Argel, finally letting his presence be known, mysterious as it may be: Do well now, and you may be rewarded in time. While the message is received, the warrior analyzes Argel's stance, looking for a way in. After the message is done, they give up, and point their blade toward the dragonborn, head tilted so as to look down the length of the blade at their target. "Funny enough, I do have better tricks. You better hope you understand what you're askin' for!"Xaja charges towards Argel, with the intent to lunge and stab with such force they may as well be throwing the sword at him. The rogue and the archer stand back, unwilling to be involved in the aftermath of the attack. Selem, Gemcut Stoneblade
Legendary Planeswalker - Selem Equipment Equip At the beginning of your end step, put a level counter on equipped creature. : Until your next upkeep, equipped creature gets +1/+1 and gains ward . : Draw two cards, then discard a card. If equipped creature has four or more level counters on it, draw two cards instead. : Gain an emblem with "At the beginning of your end step, put a loyalty counter on each planeswalker you control and a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control." Argel stood in a readied stance, but you can't prepare for everything. Eventualities exist such that one simply must be ready to adapt. More importantly, one must be ready to overcome. A simple charge towards seemed odd though. Perhaps they considered brute force enough to surpass him. They would be sorely mistaken. Argel was well-acquainted with force, well before he learned more disciplined options. Brute force begets brute force. No, you must not. Remember what I taught you. Just because you can use force does not mean you should. An escalation of force only ends with one or the other- leaving broken or not leaving at all. Fine.As the bandit lunged, Argel met blades and attempted, with an extra push from a bit of wind magic, to disarm them. At the bare minimum, trying to stay armed would throw off this attack, but he figured someone with such a blade could have become reliant upon it and this change could give him the upper hand he needs. The sheer force of the attack has required Argel to put everything he had into holding his ground and this one maneuver. Disarming Blow Instant ~ deals 2 damage to target creature. If it was equipped, destroy up to one Equipment attached to it. Selem, Gemcut Stoneblade: 9/10. Super neat. The only reason it isn't a 10/10 is the fear of mixing +1/+1 counters and level counters, especially given the level counters are put on the creature regardless of if they matter. But it is a mythic, and thats honestly a tiny problem. Love it.

Argel seen their hands touch the ground. Well, if they pulled back for that, it was possible they weren't as good in close quarters unarmed. He took a moment to jump back and ready himself for the next move. As his feet touched the ground, he was thrown off balance by the sudden shaking. He attempted to right himself long enough to give a small but controlled leap into the air before his feet landed on a personal-sized cloud. Trying to take advantage of the situation, he leaned forward and his small cloud raced towards the dropped weapon, his hand extended to scoop it up. All you've come for is the weapon. Grab it and leave. There's no need to keep fighting. Summon Cloud Instant Put a flying counter on target creature you control. Draw a card. Directed Earthquake: 8/10. Good big modal spell. The value of each of these options isn't quite balanced, at least in terms of mana, as countering a spell is ~2.5 but dealing 2 is just Shock so 1. Therefore, it is ensuring it is used for a counterspell+ in most scenarios. All in all, that is fine, however, just not how I like my modals personally.

Summon Cloud: 10/10. I have to think this would have some fun art and flavor text, and as far as commons go, it does exactly what it needs to, no more, no less. As soon as Xaja noticed that Argel was going for Selem and not them, they began running towards the sword, but found themself not faster than the cloud. Argel's hand met the cold stone blade, and the blade was plucked from the ground. Or, wait, was it cold? It felt almost warm? cool? One couldn't even be sure it was stone anymore as it shifted, growing heavier and longer, to match the taller wielder. The color of the hilt changed to that of Argel's scales, and for a brief moment, he could see himself in the reflection of the blade, before a flash of white, after which the blade was no longer between Argel's fingers. Not yet. You fight well, and I am certainly both interested and entertained, but I have other prospectives to consider. Yenna sent you, didn't she? I'm sure I'll be paying a visit to that battlefield soon enough. We'll see how we all measure up then.A similar flash, and the amalgam blade reappeared in the geomancer's hands: part stone, part steel. Xaja turns and slashes the air behind them, though it makes a sound as though it had hit another blade, and a portal opens. On the other side is the night sky, filled with brilliant, shining stars. They turn back to face Argel, looking at him with disgust and anger as they step backwards through the portal. "Hear this, yeah? This ain't over. You're gonna hear from me again. And I'm gonna be a lot less nice about it next time."As the portal closes and the dust settles, it seems the other rogues have run off, and Argel is left alone. Selem's Refusal Instant Remove up to four counters from target creature, artifact, planeswalker, or opponent. Return any number of Auras and Equipment attached to it to their owner's hands.

Why did I let myself believe anything else would be true? I let myself be played, by a weapon with an ego. Nothing to be done about it now.
And yet he couldn't get the feeling out of his mind, the bond one feels as though something is made for them. Even if it was just more of the sword's manipulation, it felt so... right. It mentioned something about a battlefield, and implied Yenna would know something more. He knew it was wrong, but he had to chase that feeling anyways. Everything he did, in the end... it was for the rush. That feeling. These thoughts tumbled through his mind as he picked himself up, took a deep breath, regained his composure, and began the journey back to Yenna's shop through the snow. Hopefully the other bandits knew better than to mess with him at this point, but he wasn't oblivious to them still being there. Feel the Rush Instant Choose one — • Creatures you control gain haste until end of turn. • Target creature gains indestructible until end of turn. Selem's Refusal: 10/10. Excellent. Reminds me of the UB cards from Alara somehow. It is both extremely niche, and yet very versatile. Might be too strong in any limited that would have any use for it, and useless otherwise though. The potential for it outside limited is great however.

So, the issue here is that the second mode normally costs less than 1 mana at uncommon, and the first costs 1 mana at common. Paying more than 1 mana to give things haste makes it so that the stuff you give haste to has to be that much lower below curve which is less than ideal. Argel makes it back to the Foxtail Forge unhindered. When he does, Yenna seems impressed by him making it back so fast, but concerned by the lack of an extra blade. "Did you find him?"Shatter the Immortal Instant Target permanent loses indestructible until end of turn. Draw a card.

Third Act Somewhere on the Arena, far from any road, a small camp is set up. Three small tents and a fourth larger tent with a cart behind it are set up in the snow, encircled around a fire pit, in full blaze. Several stumps are placed around the pit, serving as chairs. Sitting at one is a woman poking the fire with a stick. Inside the large tent, a man cuts up chicken with a large knife, tossing the chunks into a pot. Just outside the camp, a second man chops wood with a hatchet.
Suddenly comes the sound of blade striking blade, and the air rips itself open near the campfire, revealing the starry night sky behind it. Flying out of the tear comes a blade, made mostly from immaculate stonework, though fragments of copper and dragon scales poke out in some places. The firekeeper nearly falls over trying to dodge it as it lands in a far-off snowbank. One armored foot exits the portal, then another, as Xaja returns to their camp.
The woman's concern is clear on her face as she returns to absent-mindedly poking at the fire. "Take it it didn't go too well?"
"The damned thing has a mind of its own. I'm startin' to think it doesn't like me." They raise their hand, and with a flash, the blade returns, seemingly having finished removing the impurities in the stone. They stab it into the ground next to them.
"Aw, who don't like you, boss? The sword don't know what it's talkin' about." She gestures with the flaming stick to the large tent. "Nell's workin' on stew, there's that to look forward to."
"Well, what would we be without stew?" Xaja looks down at the blade.
You seem real eager to get on to someone else. Took you longer than that to adjust to me. What happened to "endless riches?" I'm no painter, Xaja, but envy is a poor color on you. I've brought you plenty thus far, have I not? Hm...
"We manage spices for it this time?" They look back to the firekeeper.
"Some pepper. This deep into winter, I'd say even that's pretty lucky. Speakin' of, wonder what's takin' 'im so long."
Can't even give me endless pepper. ...
"'ere, you take watch o' the fire, I'll go check on 'im." The woman stands, and walks over to the tent. "Hey nitwit! How long's it take to cut a chicken?"
You were always gonna leave, yeah? I have no intention of leaving. I thought I had made it clear that I cannot control my adjustments. Fine, fine. Just seems a little weird that he got you that easy. Need I remind you that you had ample opportunity to either retrieve or summon me and chose an earthquake against an aerothurge? I, uh, had a plan for after that. Honestly, how you get by just by throwing rocks at things almost amazes me. I amaze you? The plane-walkin', shape-changin' sword, amazed by me? Almost.
The woman and one of the men return from the tent, carrying a large pot of stew, that is quickly placed upon the fire. They take their seats at the fire pit, leaving a seat between them and Xaja.
"Stewart alright?" "Yeah, he's out back cuttin' wood. Said he's a bit sore, is all." "Good, good." "Got 'imself zapped real good by that prick. I took the liberty of makin' sure he got out alright before I left." Nell puffs his chest as he details his heroics. "Oh, don't let 'im fool ya, Xaj, he sat there watchin' while Stew pulled 'imself outta there. Good on ya for keepin' the fight up as long as ya did." "Well, regardless, I'm glad he's alright."
The axeman was the last to return, as he set down a small armful of cut logs near the fire pit. "Hey boss! That sword o' yours said we'd all be fine, and look at us! Got ourselves attacked by one o' them dragon freaks, and we're all just fine."
"Yeah, I guess we are, aren't we?" I suppose you are.
Xaja. Yeah? You were correct on one point: I've delivered pitifully little riches. I don't plan on lookin' a horse in the mouth, if you're offerin' money. Beyond the town of Hocfeld, there what was once a battlefield. There was plenty to be had last I was there, I imagine it still will be, should we return. That's a bit of a ways. It's certainly more distant that I would usually suggest, but it would be worth it. Hocfeld it is, then.

He clearly just wasn't trying though, for as I picked him up, he ejected himself and returned to their hands. So now all I've accomplished is angering the wielder and amusing the blade. And it seems the bandit has it out for me now..."Argel takes a small sigh. "Well, I'm not giving up that easy. He mentioned something about 'that battlefield?' Do you know anything about a battlefield he might escape to?"
"Oh, and as much as I don't like to hedge bets against myself, if I return empty handed at the end of this," Argel glanced about at some of the finer blacksmithing around the shop. "I will likely be returning here to get a new sword. This one is not nearly as giving to the power I push through it as I'd like. Thats if you would be open to making one for me?" hi Skilled Steelworker Creature - Dragon Artificer Level up [Level 1+] First strike [Level 3+] Equipment you control have "Equipped creature gets +2/+2." 2/1 hi Shatter the Immortal: 8/10. Very very niche, as I've learned from Arcane Lighthouse, but it cantrips so thats probably a step or two above a colorless utility land. This could absolutely be uncommon though, looking at other cards with the same effect.

I like the 3+ ability, I think giving new effects to equipment is an interesting idea, as opposed to giving it to the equipped creatures. I think it's fine without the red mana tho. “Yeah, I was hoping he wouldn’t be too attached to his new person, and would be okay with being taken like that. I guess not.”
She paused at the mention of the battlefield. “Um… yeah. I didn’t realize he’d want to go back. If it’s still there, it’s not far. About an hour that way. Another, uh, planeswalker came by a couple weeks ago and just sorta decided that there’d be a battlefield there. Selem and I went down to check it out, it was super haunted and he seemed a bit shaken up by it…. He left pretty quick after that.”
Yenna displayed a cautious optimism at Argel's request, trying not to put too much thought about if Argel would return at all. "Sure! Once you get back, I'd be more than happy to make something for you. I'll have to look through designs in the meantime, it's been a while since I've made actual weapons."Masterwork Blade Artifact - Equipment Equip Equipped creature gets +1/+1 and gains first strike and vigilance. As long as equipped creature is legendary, it gets +2/+1.

He did leave in a rush though, so I might want to catch up before they get done doing whatever it is they're doing."
"That would be wonderful. Well, I will be seeing you then. I'm off." Argel leaves with a wave and an optimistic smile. Masterwork Blade: 9/10. I like it. I think I'd like it if it said "it gets an additional +2/+1." or similar, just for clarification, but it does work just fine as is.
