"Do we have anyone on Volaria who studies sparks..." Leira repeats to herself as she tries to reach into her memory to find such a person. "We have a lot of people that study aether, that might be related. I could probably find at least a few people that study souls... I don't know if we have someone that studies planeswalkers specifically? We don't have a lot of them around and... at least half of them are busy with their own research and both of them are busy with their child."Skulk is a really awkward keyword. It's pretty good here, at least. 9/10 Research Assistant Artifact Creature - Aetherborn Construct Whenever Research Assistant deals combat damage to a player, scry 2. 1/3 Research Assistant: 8/10. Sure. Weird that it's an artifact creature Aetherborn, though, since they were just creatures in Kaladesh. "A shame, but congratulations to them!" An awkward silence follows from Yenna, seemingly run out of topics for discussion. "One last question, for now, at least, do you have, or would it be too trouble some to send, any books or schematics I could borrow, or buy? I imagine there must be something like that on Volaria, thought it might be more helpful to people than what I make now." She gestures to the staples of blacksmithing that surround her: horseshoes, nails, screws, simple farming tools. Iterative Process Sorcery As an additional cost to cast ~, sacrifice an artifact. Search your library for an artifact with mana value equal to one plus the sacrificed artifact's mana value, then put that card on the battlefield. If it's a creature, put a +1/+1 counter on it. Leira has a moment of... excitement? Is this what excitement looks like for Leira? She moves to immediately start typing something into a device on her wrist. "I can absolutely do that. What are your interests? We can get books on Mileran for manufacturing and smithing aethersteel, books about bioaetherics or aether kinetics. If you're more interested in history, or sciences, or city politics, we have them. I can ask Master Sara to have someone prepare them now and I can be ready to bring them to you by the time I get back."
Iterative Process being only artifacts makes it significantly more balanced than Neoform, probably. That card looked neat too. 10/10

The Knight-General of the East: 7/10. Compared to Fervent Champion, I think this has room to be more powerful. Yenna is horrified as she walks the field. This place wasn't a battlefield the night before, the armies and battle were made up, right? Right? She quickly mutters every funeral prayer she knows, cycling through them on repeat, as she passes the corpses. Your Grace, I thought you made up that story. I had. Then why am I standing in the field you made up? As I've said, it seems this 'god of tales' is trying to wield me.
She cries and averts her eyes upon finding the generals. Her prayers shift from funeral prayers to those of protection. Have you genuinely never seen a corpse before? Not so many at once, and never cut clean in half! She looks back, to see the spirits of the fallen paying their respects to their general, and that of the general rising from his corpse. She watches, trying to slip away as the knight gathers weapons, but freezes upon being pointed out by the spirit. "Um, hi, can I-" The knight charges toward her, and she frantically struggles to pull Selem from her belt. YourGraceYourGraceYourGrace, pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease She calms, stands her ground, and pulls the sword from her belt, prepared to parry. Selem, Soul Cleaver Legendary Planeswalker - Selem Equipment Equip Equipped creature gets +2/+1 until end of turn. Destroy target creature. It's controller creates a 1/1 white Spirit creature token with flying. Return any number of target Aura cards from graveyards to the battlefield under your control attached to equipped creature. A charging knight is a formidable threat, but Selem's footwork and strength is enough to duck and block an axe swing for Yenna's head as the foe rides past. The knight-general, not wishing to give any opportunity to regroup or prepare, swiftly dismounts his steed as it charges, and, with the split-second needed to reverse his momentum, lunges for Yenna to continue the assault, with mace swings threatening to crush armor, and attempts at hooking Selem out of position with the axe. He seems familiar enough with how his own sword should be wielded that he does not leave himself open to an easy counterattack.Shieldbreaker Artifact — Equipment Equipped creature gets +2/+0. Whenever equipped creature attacks, tap target creature defending player controls. Equip Selem, Soul Cleaver — Not having efficient access for the -3 at start hurts a bit in terms of varying up the gameplay, especially since it doesn't seem to have many defensive measures after the first swing you're expected to take with it, since the buff only applies on your turn, i.e. effectively only on attacks. I can't say much about the balance of the other abilities, but overall, the gameplay pattern and unclear relevance as a response makes me say 7/10

"Poor thing. Now, let's say, for the sake of argument, that you do exist, and have existed. The story goes that you wielded this blade in battle, and fell. And to a mage? Tch, tch. The blade is pulled out of position by the knight-general's axe, though disappears from her hand in a flash of purple light, reappearing in the other, ready to slash down into the spirit at a hopefully unexpected angle. "Entelan Freedom of Information," Leira says, noticing only a few seconds later that those mean absolutely nothing. "We don't need them back. The Magus of the North: 9/10. So, I think this isn't very white. On the other hand, the context alone gives this a point. The warrior slays the ghost, and sheathes their sword as it dissipates. The warrior blindly bursts through the flames into freezing winds and a grasping wall of ice that had already been forming beyond their sight. As the target becomes clear to the magus, spikes seek to quickly close in on Yenna and Selem like a frozen maw snapping shut. The magus had only been waiting to see what the over-confident warrior would do first. Already, she prepares another spell, ready to interfere with any further magic.
Don't mind if I play my cards a tad closer to my proverbial chest, won't you?
The reply presses against Selem's mind like a current from all sides. It is already too late for that. A glare of the sun passes over the ice now coating the battlefield, and for a moment, Selem is entirely blinded. When the light fades, Selem is still battling the magus, but now being wielded by the Knight, now clad in brilliant conjured armor of light, still moving with the same practiced grace that Selem had imparted upon Yenna—but with a will and intent behind every motion that is driven by someone who could well be his match. "Of course. The blade itself has a memory—more than that, a mind. But for all those warriors who had wielded you before, I know that you would prefer someone more adept than this naive, untrained girl."

As for the power, I think that comparing to something like Soul's Fire, which is comparable given the multicolor, you could do this without it being a death trigger. Perhaps you could make it so that you control the effect, to make it feel a bit more black? Right now, the best target for it would be the Magus, if you had other resources. 7/10

As for the power, I think that comparing to something like Soul's Fire, which is comparable given the multicolor, you could do this without it being a death trigger. Perhaps you could make it so that you control the effect, to make it feel a bit more black? Right now, the best target for it would be the Magus, if you had other resources. 7/10

Generally I prefer Revelations that have useful effects before turn 8. Atlani stands to greet the rift, pausing uncomfortably as it turns black. That doesn't seem quite right, now does it? At the first sign of movement from the blob, she draws her sword and shield, keeping a watchful eye on it as it shifts and churns, utterly unsure of how to proceed. Only once it splits off into four recognizable bodies does she know what to do. She charges to meet them, slashing at one of the imps, ducking as another leaps toward her, bashing back a third with her shield as she stabs at the fourth. Instant Target creature gets +2/+2 and gains "Whenever this creature blocks or becomes blocked, draw a card for each creature blocking or blocked by it" until end of turn. The first imp meets Atlani's charge, flinging its arms around wildly to find an unexpected opening, instead finding Atlani's blade. It screams and falls aside as its arm is cleaved and dissipates into nothingness. The second leaps over, trying to catch her distracted, but Atlani's already in motion and ducks under it easily, carrying the momentum to slamming into the third. It begins dissolving around the contact point as well while Atlani stabs into the fourth.
The dodged imp and slowly dissolving one-arm imp snarl and jump back into action, too slow to beat the sudden intervention of the cat. The other two are already out of commission, and will be nothing but dust before long.
There is a brief calm once the imps have been dispatched.
Slender blue tendrils reach out of the rift and grab at the edges of reality. A pulsing jellyfish floats out from the blackened rift, dragging behind a withered body underneath it. With every flash of light, the two combatants briefly feel the pound of a headache. The thin tendrils flail around the floating jellyfish-person. A flash. The beautiful jelly creature beckons. A flash. The tendrils reach out gingerly, seeming to beg them to take its hand. A flash. Omnidirectional Defense - not the greatest defense mechanically but such a fun flavor thing i'll let it slide. this is a mostly sidegrade Fog so the three mana is safe but could maybe get pushed to two 7/10Michi's Guidance - i think mechanically i'd prefer this do draw on the spell than be a trigger so you can surprise flash it in, but that would prob need to be more expensive, so this is good where it's at there. Also covers Atlani's less mechanical defense with the card draw, nice. 9/10

A final shriek tears through what was once a battlefield; in flames, the spirit drifts into halves, retelling the moment of the magus's death once more, before they fade away entirely. The shriek is echoed by wails across the now frozen landscape, as the many other souls of the fallen armies collect what weapons have not yet been scavenged, and scatter across The Arena. Selem's Protection — Thinking on Turn Aside, this is a lot of markup for a very niche ability. Atlani cuts away at the jellyfish tendrils that come too close, while Michi's chains try to hold back those afar, but a few strikes has already taught the jellyfish a direct assault would be unwise. A free tendril grabs for the dissolving imps instead. A glow fills both creatures, glowing brighter and brighter and brighter....
And then it's gone. A black mess of tentacles jumps from where the imp once lay, the fusion of imp and jellyfish wrapping itself rapidly around Atlani's leg and sinking in a row of teeth. That Which Never Departs: 6/10. Was it cool to use four keywords all in one line like that? Absolutely it was cool. But holy hell it's an ugly one line. I think, in terms of using U as a logical operator, it should be Coalesce U Convoke U Pinnacle. I dunno what the dash is there for (like I get that it's supposed to specify that Pinnacle is the cost being paid, but it makes me think that the dash is some other operator.) easier to just make it Coalesce U Convoke and drop the pinnacle. Bonus point for being something you'd play during the second main phase. Atlani puts more of her body behind her shield as the glow intensifies, then moves out from behind it, confused at the creature's disappearance. She whistles, and a massive snow leopard comes barreling out of the woods behind her, but before it can even get halfway to Atlani, the imp has attached itself to her leg. "Nai, what do you- OW! Mr. Mage, if you could kindly seal it, before any more come through?" She turns to try to give Michi line of sight to the beast without letting it switch targets, and awkwardly tries to stab at it with her sword. Using it on myself so that none of my creatures are untapped. "Alright I think I've got it. Let meow try!" Michi channels all of his energy into a spell, the pages of his spellbook flickering with raw magic power. A gilded cat paw appears avobe the being, pushing it into the breach. Thanks to the warrior distracting it, the creature can't resist the spell. The rift becomes sealed with ethereal chains crossed above it. After checking that nothing else is coming from it, Michi exhales, relieved at last. "Those were some ugly meownsters, right? I wonder where they came from." After a few seconds lost in his thought the cat, speaks agains. "Ah! Sorry meowstress, but I haven't introduced meowself! The name's Michi, cat, wizard and researcher! Pleased to meowt you!" Michi extends a paw towards the warrior. "Also, I should go looking for meow brother, we always end up separated. But knowing him, if there are meowre creatures like this, he will be in the meowddle of the fray."Repel the Pinnacle Instant This spell costs less to cast for each color of the spell it targets. Counter target spell. And with a flash of binding light, the monster dissapeared, as if never was there.

The creature of Elsewhere tightens against Atlani as Michi's spell pushes, but the cat's spell wins out, causing the tentacles of the fused beast to dissolve away and forcing whatever remains back into the rift. The chains snap around the rift, which slowly begins to shrink away as the two talk.
But it is clear their fight on the Arena was not the only one. In the distance, a black column tore higher and higher into the sky... Well-Timed Assault - nifty 9/10Repel the Pinnacle - while mechanically cool, isn't great as defense cause the card is still mono-red so costs 3U 8/10

pacifistwestwoman Some time, after the Creatures of Elsewhere...Out at the edge of Hocfeld, a strange visitor can be spotted in a discussion with one of the village's farmers. He seems to be discussing something regarding the owner's fields, which are currently under varying amounts of snow and sleet, and appears to be trying to reach some form of arrangement. The visitor in question doesn't appear to be from anywhere else on the Arena. Though they're covered in layers of cloth, the styles of his outfit suggest somewhere else in the Multiverse, not to mention his slight aversion to the frosty weather. Continuing from my board: The door closed behind him, he sets off for the town of Merova. He could get there faster, but there was no telling where they were along the way, so he had to do like the old days and walk. He was unsure when the last time he traveled this way all alone was. He was beginning to miss the random chattermouth adventurers he used to bemoan as companions. As Argel walked, he considered what he knew. He knew this blade would stand out, at least reasonably so. He knew the thief or thieves carrying it probably didn't want to part with it. He knew he was here to make them. He knew the blade was probably going to egg it on. He knew he needed to be prepared. ...and seeing the remnants of a campfire, he knew someone was near. Could be his prey, he reasoned, so he began to put his tracking skills to work. Surely they would be lying in wait though, so he had to be cautious about how he approached wherever this trail lead. Firebelly Fighter Creature - Dragon Warrior Level up [Level 1+] : ~ gets +1/+0 until end of turn. [Level 2+] When ~ dies, it deals 2 damage to target opponent. 1/1

I can't come up with a reason for this to be an instant and not a sorcery. Is that another planeswalker? What is this, the fourth one this month? Oh, Goddess, may this be a respite from the trials you've provided me...A young woman more properly dressed for the weather approaches the conversation, waving at the newcomer, but not wanting to interrupt. Pretty solid use for levelup on a 1 drop common. The smoldering embers of the campfire were not the only sign of the site's recent use. Several sets of bootprints are sunk in the snow, and the twin lines of wheel marks cut a path further off the road. Whoever left these tracks wasn't being terribly stealthy about it. The tracks led up a short but relatively steep hill; hard to know what would be at the top. Frostfell Silencer Creature - Human Rogue Deathtouch Whenever a creature dealt damage by ~ this turn would die, exile it instead. 1/1 "You're not buried terribly well, are you? Exiling Firebelly means it doesn't get its death trigger.
