Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our three-hundred and seventy-second challenge! The winner of the "School's Out!" poll was spazlaz with...And the challenge issued by our winner was... Create a card depicting the end of the world, however you think (or not) it might happen. To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

The fact that the world has 13,000 nukes but anybody's only used 2 is... terrifying.

This one is pretty abstract, so I'll explain. I believe the world will end for humanity not due to any grandiose event, but by machines eventually outcompeting humans in societies and economies that value productivity over all else. Eventually humans will have to give up what makes them 'human' to compete, or die.

{Text} Grey Goo CCC Artifact At the beginning of your upkeep, choose a permanent not named Grey Goo. It becomes a copy of Grey Goo. T: Add C. CC: Grey Goo becomes a 2/2 Horror artifact creature until end of turn.
The logical conclusion to the pursuit of ever-increasing productivity is productivity without utility.

Scorching Heat Sorcery This spell can't be countered Destroy all snow permanents. For each land destroyed this way, its controller may search their library for a basic land card and put it onto the battlefield tapped. Then each player who searched their library this way shuffles.

The true threat to our continued survival is the one currently under our noses with no known way of responding to it.

Some right-wing nutjob's gonna do something drastic...
Dirty Bomb Instant Put X radiation counters on target land. Its controller loses two times X life. For as long as it has a radiation counter on it, it has shroud, indestructible, “This permanent can’t be sacrificed”, “Creatures you control get -1/-1 for each radiation counter on this permanent”, and “At the beginning of your upkeep, you lose life equal to the number of radiation counters on this permanent, then remove a radiation counter from it.”

Wastelands of NorLand (Uncommon) Wastelands of Nor enters the battlefield tapped. (2), (T): Until end of turn, whenever target nonbasic land is tapped for mana, it produces (C) instead of its normal type and amount. (T): Add (C). The wastelands of Nor were an ancient battle site, unable to heal even through time.

The Virus Enchantment The Virus enters the battlefield with an infection counter. At the beginning of your end step, for each infection counter on a permanent, choose an artifact at random and a creature at random. Put an infection counter on each permanent for each time it was chosen this way and destroy it if the number of infection counters on it is greater than or equal to its mana value. So yea, this is the idea of a virus that is both a real virus and a computer virus. Just hope your commputer doesn't sneeze on you.

Since the challenge says I don't really have to believe this is the way our world will end for real - let's take a look at how Hoshi no Samidare did it:

With the sort of stuff we're capable of, and that we're dealing with, there's a decent chance that the thing that destroys the world was intended to save it from something else.
Enchantment Whenever a player casts a spell for its mana cost, each player exiles the top card of their library, then plays that card without paying its mana cost. One thing leads to another, and . . .

Vunik: Were you trying for a metahumorous commentary on Wizards of the Coast itself? Because that's what it's coming off as. Your entry totally seems like something they'd put out, not even realizing that it's going to break all the formats immediately.

I also made it not really concerned with power level or broken-ness (which in itself could be considered a commentary).

Explanation: There's a solid chance that people will outright ignore the coming end of the world when it happens, even while there was actually something can could be done to stop it. It might even be happening now. Like climate change? I actually think we will die from climate change, but this is more fun lol
YOu don't need that last part. When you lose the game, all your abilities cease to exist along with all your other stuff.

It's not the end of the world per se, but I'm most scared of the advent of military robots in the near future that will allow empires to outmaneuver guerilla tactics and shift the balance of wars of attrition. {Text} Pax Automata Enchantment Whenever a creature attacks you, create a 1/1 colorless Thopter artifact creature token with flying.
