Soratami Nightmare-Weaver Creature-- Moonfolk Horror Flying Soratami Nightmare-Weaver gets +1/+1 for each card in your hand. , Return three lands you control to their owner’s hand: Each other player may return up to three lands they control to their owner’s hand. For each land a player doesn’t return this way, that player loses 3 life. Activate this ability only as a sorcery, and only once per turn. 4/4 Ok, yes, Meloku was a dominating terror in its day, but all the others were utter fucking Draft chaff. Yes, even Erayo. I'm sorry, Erayo stans & Commander fans, it's just a bad card.

What could be less threatening than a creature type with innate defender? Wall of Horrors Creature - Wall Horror Defender Whenever Wall of Horrors blocks a creature, that creature’s controller discards a card. 1/4

Brood Parasite Creature - Bird Horror As long as there are three or more creature cards in your graveyard, ~ has flying. If two or more +1/+1 counters would be put on a creature you don't control, that many minus one are put on it instead and put a +1/+1 counter on ~. Eventually, the "parents" are compelled to feed their own flesh to the invader.0/3

Ended up being later than I thought, but let's get to it... elchetibo{Spoiler}In concept, this is a very fun card and even the extra cost you added makes sense. It's a blocker but it's ability to be a particularly nasty stall could be mitigated by the maintenance, thus preventing the card from causing unfun stalling. It can also be interesting in multiplayer where an opponent could politic you into returning a creature with a good ETB trigger return to their hand. In practice, however, it's straight up worse than any other version of the effect that's ever been done, requiring a maintenance cost that far outclasses any minute advantage it has over the rest. In fact, given the trigger is at the end of turn, just to keep this alive for a single round you're effectively casting it for five mana, including three colored mana. Jartis{Spoiler}I see the idea you seem to be going for here, but I do think this card's effects in practice are "When ~ enters the battlefield, your life total becomes equal to the number of cards in your hand." / "Whenever you lose life, except if you lost life due to this card's abilities, discard that many cards" / "Whenever you draw a card you gain 1 life" / "Whenever you play a card from your hand or discard a card you lose 1 life". Laid out like that I think it should be clear why the positive side of the effect isn't particularly strong while the negative side can be devastating for you. You gain life (once in setting it to a value that, if you're using the no maximum hand size effect at all wasn't probably all that high to begin with, and once at the pace of a 1 mana white creature) and in return all of your spells and lands have an additional casting cost of 1 life and all of your opponent's creatures, damage-dealing spells, life-loss effects, anything you pay life for etc... is a Blazing Specter on steroids. And this much downside is on a six mana, including three colored, 0/5 creature with defender, no form of protection or immediate impact beyond some life gain. viriss{Spoiler}Ah yes you silly sod, truly a classic, a horrifying killing machine in the rabbit. Balance-wise there isn't much to say, it's a creature that leaves behind a token when it dies. In this case it's a typical Eldrazi token (though surprisingly a lot less cards make those than I thought, and the cards that do exist seem to have some inconsistent rating on how much it's worth). It seems to me most of the cost here is partially coming from that power and toughness. 5/3s are often five mana or above, at least without downsides, such as Cliffrunner Behemoth or Changeling Berserker. I do get somewhat the impression this card could probably cost 4 and be fine. Still, this cost isn't exactly wrong either especially when the closest comparison would be a Debtor's Transport. sdfkjgh{Spoiler}First, bonus points for a creative choice of creature type for the "harmless" part of the prompt. In terms of balancing, it's about equivalent to sticking an Empyrial Armor or Empyrial Plate onto your average angel, which seems quite worth five mana. Behold the Unspeakable is another card which may be worth a comparison to, given it's final reward and some effects along the way. There is also your card's activated ability to consider, but given the steep cost of returning 3 lands + the once-per-turn clause, it makes the card more pushed but still within the right range I feel. I do have a small nitpick though in that I'm not sure if the wording " For each land a player doesn’t return this way" which I couldn't find another case of and could potentially lead to ambiguity and confusion as to whether "each land" is only counting the initial 3 lands or all of them. Flo00{Spoiler}A interesting twist on the black combat discard, arguably stronger since it can keep your opponent from attacking and you get to choose where to block, unlike attacking where you more easily lose your creature and be unable to go through with the ability. Does the creature's inability to attack and low power (despite high toughness) justify it's advantages? Mostly yeah, but I'd probably switch one of that mana to a colored ::b::. eshix{Spoiler}Very interesting card on a conceptual and mechanical level alike, with this "sit there and their growth" effect, it's quite unique and in truth hard to tell if it's balanced. I do get the impression the card might be slightly undercosted considering the static effect (especially at this range of cost), seeing how many effects it turns into purely only benefiting you. Flavor is quite well-conveyed at least. melono{Spoiler}The choosing step in the second effect seems unnecessary. When I first read the card I thought others chose instead, but since it's you, the card might as well say "exile target nonland nonhorror permanent controlled by a player immediately to your right or left.". Seeing as this is a two-color card, costs seems appropriate for the kind of effect it has even though it's also unblockable. In thematic and flavor terms you can definitely feel the creepiness in how the art and effects of this card both give a horror twist to Aminatou, well done. Winner {Spoiler}The win goes to eshix with melono as a runner-up!

Thanks for the win!
In the past, there have been challenges where the first letter of both types had to match, so let's have a twist on that: The last letter of the first creature type must match the first letter of the second type.
So, let's see stuff like Weird Dreadnought, Fungus Satyr or Yeti Incarnation!

Yeah historically weirds have always been red and/or blue. The notion of a weird is a fusion of elementals though, many of whom happen to fit in red or blue and the creation of weirds is almost exclusively found in Izzet which is also red/blue. I think one could have weirds in other colors with the right element selections though, in this case a straw and shadow elementals. sdfkjgh although some half or more of the current weird selection really don't seem to follow that formula, I made a change to the entry just in case. Had more time to dig up something that could serve as a blue/red card with this too.

Idea : The important parts are "up to three lands" and "this way". The upper limit is set, and the consequences for not performing the full upper limit are laid out. Also, Weirds are fusions of diametrically opposed elements, so straw/shadow doesn't quite match, but straw/fire would. Unnatural Amalgam Creature--Kavu Unicorn Nautilus Trample As long as you control five or more lands, and as long as at least one of them is a basic Plains, at least one of them is a basic Island, at least one of them is a basic Swamp, at least one of them is a basic Mountain, and at least one of them is a basic Forest, Unnatural Amalgam gets +5/+5. Whenever Unnatural Amalgam attacks, blocks, or becomes the target of a spell or ability, flip a coin. If you win the flip, sacrifice Unnatural Amalgam. When Unnatural Amalgam dies, exile target artifact or enchantment an opponent controls and draw a card. 4/4 I wanted to solve Territorial Kavu's Leyline of the Guildpact problem, so that's why the 2nd ability looks so horrendous. "Why does the 3rd ability sacrifice on winning the coinflip" you may ask? It's because not even this thing wants to remain alive, like that ostrich/human hybrid child, and I honestly misremembered it as a platypus/human hybrid, because look at it, can you blame me?! And finally, the Naturalize effect, because that's a thing that Unicorns do occasionally.

Legendary Creature - Human Nightmare First strike Whenever a creature dealt combat damage by ~ this turn dies, exile that creature.
Once each turn, you may cast a spell from among cards exiled with ~, and you may spend mana as though it were mana of any color to cast that spell. "It's the life of my dreams - and your nightmares."

Righteous Reefknight Creature - Merfolk Knight Vigilance ( Attacking doesn’t cause this creature to tap.) Ward ( Whenever this creature becomes the target of a spell or ability an opponent controls, counter it unless that player pays .) ~ can block an additional creature each combat. 3/5 Some originally white mechanics that I think would work just as well in blue. Vigilance, which has officially been moved to blue recently, and multiblocking, which plays more into blue gameplans than most white gameplans.

melono The choosing step in the second effect seems unnecessary. When I first read the card I thought others chose instead, but since it's you, the card might as well say "exile target nonland nonhorror permanent controlled by a player immediately to your right or left.". In thematic and flavor terms you can definitely feel the creepiness in how the art and effects of this card both give a horror twist to Aminatou, well done. That first assumption is correct, each player chooses the next player's permanent to exile, and next is in order chosen. So with four players, four nonland non-Horror permanents get exiled. It uses the original Aminatou's ult wording:

I am never drawing something this detailed on a post-it again. Mushido is a pun based on mushi (Japanese for bug) and Bushido-- direct translation would be "way of the bug". Still relatively new to MTG and even newer to making cards, so feedback is absolutely welcome!

I decided to wait a bit just in case, but I'll go ahead and make the next prompt as ZephyrPhantom said. Either way glad you liked the entry eshix ! For the next prompt, make a blackborder card using at least one type (race or class) that is found mostly or even exclusively in an un-set. The other type can be from an unsert as well or from black border magic, but the two types must not be a pair one would normally associate with each other. Have fun!

sdfkjgh {Spoiler} I love the pun in the card name and certainly fits for Azorius. you need to pay for it to have flying but with those two other keywords on this kind of body I’d say six mana would be more appropriate. It also has a strong ability that seems cleverly costed to be in color but still allow even players not playing blue to use it. That being said, my big issue with this card is how unfun an ability like this would be in actual play. Countering can be an interesting game piece and is at times important particularly to deal with things like a sudden combo finishing the game, but it’s the kind of thing you want to make one time or in more expectable form or which gives the opponent an actual escape clause. In large part this card’s effects mean many players just will barely get to play their cards because if nothing else of the fear of them getting countered or because they want to leave mana up to counter. They even make it harder to deal with the problem card as methods to do so will often also be counterable by the ability. elchetibo{Spoiler}Referencing a silver border type in a black border effect means you’ll essentially not going to get to use it. Even in silver border there’s not that many and while the token effect is decent in itself those tokens won’t stick around in the graveyard to increase this card’s power or toughness either. The actual balancing of the cost seems pretty alright for its effect, but the card also seems a bit too impractical in what seems to be its intended way of working. (AKA not just a token generator) viriss{Spoiler}Yeah I love this. The card works thematically with its unset type with an effect that works in black border, it seems fun and that it work in interesting ways in certain decks. Also reminds me of a morph creature without being one, which is just a random thought but also seemed fun. The one complaint I have is that the reminder text could use some adjustment. Winner

Octo-Chatter, Scurrying Mischief Legendary Creature--Octopus Squirrel Skulk (This creature can’t be blocked by creatures with greater power.)
Whenever Octo-Chatter, Scurrying Mischief deals combat damage to a player, planeswalker, or battle, you may pay , where X is Octo-Chatter, Scurrying Mischief’s toughness. If you do, create X 1/1 green Squirrel creature tokens, then tap target permanent that isn’t an unmodified basic land and put X stun counters on it. Permanents tapped this way lose all abilities and can’t have or gain abilities for as long as they’re tapped. 2/8
