Lettie planeswalks in a moment later, and leans against the door as she takes a moment to think. "...Michi, correct? I'm sorry, you came at a somewhat inconvenient time. Almost all of my wares have been moved to one location in order to turn some of these shops into cat sanctuaries. Not even I have that full story. But, if you can just follow me for a second, I can get you what you need, which would be...?" Otherwise, this is a pretty good summation of URW. 7/10

At each of the locations Seiva set aside for cats, the cats arrive one by one with their Entelan chaperone. Once the last ones have been sent to their extraplanar locations, a note is left in each location for Lettie, alongside a small stack of papers.Hi! The cats have been moved over and your tunnels are functional. They should be isolated from the cats. I've left you instructions for operating the tunnel and aetheric oscillator, as well as the Material Information Documents for the different concentrations of aethersteel, infused glass, and elemental energies and the Aethertechnical Research Documents for the tunnel, oscillator, and all the conduits involved. Lettie finds all the redundant copies of the notes, some intact, others shredded by her new charges, hopping through each shop quickly as to not disturb them (Though still startling a few), and using her alarms to avoid landing on top of any. Thankfully, she'd adjusted those alarms to only give information on small targets on request, and not an alarm itself. Otherwise, her head would probably be splitting apart at the moment. With the papers all gathered together, she takes the copies in best condition, binds them, and stores them alongside her books at the bakery location, and tucks a few key reference sheets behind the cover of an old tome filled with many similar papers, and whose spine has long since faded and frayed. This old thing's going to fall apart any week now. Just as well. I could probably rewrite it from memory at this point.Lettie then takes the food she had bought, and spends the next hour and half passing out bowls of food to the cats, letting each one smell her before slowly stooping down to serve them. Some retreat, their whiskers twitching in disgust at the putrid fumes trailing off of her as she exits the blind eternities. Had to be this smell. The multiverse is taunting me. Lettie tries to keep a count of the cats, and concedes once she's past a hundred, and decides to tally them on paper later, though she does try to keep in mind the few pale cats with odd eyes, as to not depend on their hearing, and to warn any prospective owners. Some of the cats reject her completely, and she resolves to try them again in an hour. They're little beasts, seeking only companionship and food. They'll realize quickly enough that I'm all they've got. Or, maybe with hope, they'll be the most eager to leave, and most eager to please. Which now brings us to signs. At the end of Lettie's third rounds through her shops, each of the sanctuaries bears the signs: "Adopt a Cat // Free of Charge", and "Site Caretakers Wanted // Knock to Inquire".Inherited Treatise Artifact Inherited Treatise enters the battlefield tapped with two charge counters on it. , Remove a charge counter from Inherited Treatise: Add one mana of any color. , , Sacrifice Inherited Treatise: Draw three cards. Research Documents — Cool little tribal, though by nature of the cards you'd want to improve with it, you're rarely going to be using the second ability. Still usable without charge rewards for the same reason, which is nice. 8/10

Lettie tries to keep her immediate reactions of disdain from showing as she listens to the request. "To start with, the most cost effective option for Doer's regeneration is to keep him from getting into so many fights. But given the way you act around him, you're probably already trying that. I have potions of regeneration, which are designed to stop bleeding, and to speed recovery from injuries and to provide the materials necessary to do so. However, if you use them for your brother, you must not dose him with more than one at a time, even if he wants to 'regenerate faster'. The component that stops bleeding will, at high portions, turn his blood into jelly. I'm serious. He will die. For this reason, I recommend you also buy some very cost ineffective potions of healing, which, to put it colloquially, just put more blood and such into his body. Something to tide your bra- er, brother over when he's impatient. Overdosing on that is more difficult when injured, but causes high blood pressure and possible heart attacks." Lettie takes a moment to take a look at the drawing of the green arm. "I can't say I've met a master called Brayden, but the first thing that comes to mind... where I'm from, a lot of Wizards would, for the sake of efficiency, use magic to transform themselves into beings more naturally suited to destruction. They would often forget themselves, which made transforming back quite difficult, and even if they could, it would in some ways taint what was once their 'true form'. They would take upon a 'true form' that was neither their old selves nor the transformation. It's possible that Brayden might not be possessed, but instead is transforming in both body and mind whenever this magic resurfaces. And, in the worst case, that may now be his new 'true form'. ...Whenever we would speak of treating those cases, it was all just euphemisms for killing them. Best I can do right now is mix a potion for Brayden that will act as a mental inhibitor triggered by green mana, so that whenever that transformation takes place, it will be difficult for him to go from thinking about something to doing that something... assuming he wasn't already a green practitioner."Potion of Forgetfulness Artifact , : Target player exiles a card from their graveyard. , : Exile target card from a graveyard. Shopping Trip — Given that our usual regrowth effects are sorcery speed, and our marginal comparison to another card that nets two, Jace's Ingenuity, this sort of effect and cost would have me guess Sorcery. Otherwise, this is neat. 8/10

Lettie lays down at the end of a day. Most of the day had been spent taking care of the cats, and sending a handful of her Arena customers through the aether tunnels, to try and familiarize them with the new "system". As though what this was could be called a system. Before, Lettie had an inkling of what kind of shop she wanted to establish across the planes, but she still had so many ventures not connected to the "hub" next to Atlas that this was somehow more complicated than what she had before. At least it made scheduling on the now permanent locations far easier. If it didn't, she wouldn't even have the chance to rest right now.
The aether tunnels themselves were the spoils of outrageous fortune, and her seizing upon the opportunity. The cats were making business difficult right now, but they were only temporary. In the worst case, none of them would be around in twenty years. Interplanar travel was a one time hurdle, and she could have it forever... or until she died, anyway. Whichever came first. But there was a clod upon this silver. "I... there's something weird going on around here. And I wonder if EPIC's cats are connected." Perhaps Pidge had been cursed indeed, and if EPIC's cats were connected, Lettie had profited from it. The aether tunnels were definitely worth more than the weight in cats, after all. It would be a rotten bit of business then... but there was a certain... satisfaction to considering the possibility. That little runt had a head start on Lettie by a matter of decades, but even she could stumble, and every stumble was another chance to overtake- You little monster. She thinks you're her friend. I... I am her friend. I think. Maybe she's just being nice, and doesn't think much of me at all. And maybe I'm just keeping her around to make sure she doesn't go anywhere she shouldn't. Maybe if she starves, she wouldn't- Lettie, don't think like this. You barely had any friends before, and Pidge might be your only friend now. The hell are friends good for? Acting like they don't notice everything that's wrong with you? Letting you make a damn fool of yourself? ...It could be a nice illusion. Maybe I could try to make some more friends. Maybe this will be the time everything goes right. That's what this new life is about. But not if the old one comes creeping in. Pidge is innocent, but her innocence might still lead to her causing great... misfortune, for me, if through no fault of her own she finds something she shouldn't.
So Lettie couldn't just throw away Pidge. She wasn't living a new life just to exist after all. But she couldn't spend too many resources helping her with this new problem. That would be a wasted opportunity. She could even let it fester a bit, add some of her own curses too, and Pidge might still survive. But what if she didn't? What if one day, her entire business collapses, and Lettie would be able to do nothing but support her? Would the curses then, too great to number, crawl into Lettie's life as well? Her own desire would doom her then. So what if Lettie instead did her utmost to rid Pidge of these troubles, maybe get some invaluable goodwill for it, become very close friends indeed? But you can't truly be good friends with someone and control them. Pidge would still have the means to ruin everything, even if through no fault of her own. Pidge wasn't the only person who posed this problem either. It felt... natural, comfortable to talk small details about her home, but Lettie knew that enough of these details shared with the same persistent people, even if she could make those people her friends, especially if they were her friends, would doom her all the same. But no one wants to know someone who doesn't want to talk about anything they know or have done. She couldn't have it both ways.
What is my 'true form'? Am I the Bitter Star, or am I a human? Am I going to try and wrest control of my fate from all I meet, no matter the monstrous consequences? Or will I try to live as I have always wanted, friends and all, with the lurking threat of having it all evaporate in an instant?
You can't take half measures. Cure the cause outright, or accept the inevitable symptoms.
One could say that instead of choosing, one can wait. Of course, waiting is still a choice, and it's the choice I'll take. I can wait, if I just prepare for the split second decisions I'll inevitably have to make. I'll cross those bridges when I get to them... or burn them.
Lettie Wormwood can now create Split cards.

However, I'm pretty sure you have to specify triggered or activated, like Disallow does. 9/10

Sale Sorcery Put X +1/+1 counters on target creature. // Transfer Sorcery Move all counters from target creature onto another target creature. (Split card) Compromised Sanctuary — I admittedly don't have much frame of reference for Hidden Agenda effects, but this seems comparable to Immediate Action in terms of the net benefit to each creature, and seems like it has some build potential with board weakens and board burn. 9/10

"It's no great matter," Lettie lies, stuffing the note and device she had been looking over into her pocket. "I've considered enlisting some non-planeswalker help, but they'd have to have training comparable to mine, as an apothecary at least, which might be difficult to match. Where I'm from, material components and ingredients of magic are crucial, and I haven't seen any other plane like that." Briefly, Lettie hoped that no other sparked had seen that plane. "Then there's the worry that they might, in their spare time, start digging through my books, and read all about all the other planes I've been studying. I understand that there are some interplanar initiatives, but they can't have reached all the ones I trade in, so I have to maintain that bit of secrecy. I also can't keep all of my wares in every shop for the same reason, so staff would have difficulty helping planeswalkers. There are very few people you can trust to run a shop full of this many dangerous items and this much potentially dangerous information. That, and I'd have to rework my alarms to account for any new staff."Solitary Bear Creature — Bear When Solitary Bear enters the battlefield, you may search your library for up to three cards named Solitary Bear, exile them, then shuffle your library. 2/2 Trace the Eternities — You've got some issues on your second mode, particularly the lack of shuffle clause, and the fact that the card can potentially go back into the hand or library, a hidden zone. You'd likely have to exile that card, then give it the impulse and mana spending effect. Otherwise, this is potentially a nasty card, as it can tutor a creature right out of an opponent's hand. Add in the fact that most creatures are sorcery speed, and that lobotomize effects typically are as well, and I'd say this should probably be a sorcery. Otherwise, things like colorless conversion only and lobotomize all crossed with steal one are good qualities. 7/10
It's... interesting, I guess? I don't think it works as a common, because it's difficult to look at this and say 'why would I want to take advantage of that ability'? At the same time, it's particularly weak for being uncommon or rare. It works as a counter to Trace the Eternities... but even that's a bit of a stretch... maybe there's something I'm just not seeing here, but it doesn't really strike me as 'good' in any regard. 7/10"I see," Khon replies, considering the woman's mentions. "I have not heard of any planes myself where materials are used commonly in magic, though I am aware of a number of spells or rituals that do require specific items of focus, or specific catalysts." He pauses for a moment, before saying, "Your reasons do make sense, though - and I can understand that the issues of training or specialized knowledge would also apply to constructs and homunculi, so those would not be particularly viable solutions either. You mentioned, though, that you are an apothecary... do you deal in other wares as well, or is it just your potions, and the ingredients to create them?"Cauldron Construct Artifact Creature - Construct , : Create a Potion artifact token with "Sacrifice this artifact: Target creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn." , : Create a Poison artifact token with "Sacrifice this artifact: Target creature gets -1/-1 until end of turn." 2/2

"I think it's better if he comes to see you himself. Thank you for the potions, meowstress. And don't worry. I'll bring back the book." I turn to leave, but in the last moment, i remember I still have two letters in my pocket. I hope she doesn't get offended by this. "Just one more thing. Pidge, the kithkin lady gave me a letterand I had to make some copies of it." I continue in a softer tone. "It says that if I deliver five, I'll be blessed with great fortune but if I don't I'll unleash DOOM. So, this one's for you." I hand her a closed envelope. "I don't know if it works if you don't open it so do wathever you see fit, meowstress. Meowbe you want to give it to someone else or something. Anyways, I should be leaving. Thank you very meowch for your help!" Lettie is enraptured by the drawing of herself as Michi leaves. However, soon after he leaves, she processes what he just said. Doom? DOOM!? Lettie drops the envelope, expecting it to burst into flames in her hands. "Michi! If you're supposed to make five copies of this, doesn't that mean it says the same thing for me as it did for you? Michi!" Alas, he was already gone. Bitter stars! Slings and arrows! I've got doom enough to contend with without some witch's chain mail haunting me too! Pidge is the courier, she can deliver these, dooming her be damned, she's got fortune enough. She can gamble with it.

Compromised Sanctuary Conspiracy Hidden agenda Whenever a creature with the chosen name enters the battlefield, put three +1/+1 counters on it and target opponent creates two 1/1 colorless Rogue Construct artifact creature tokens named Cogwork Poacher.
9/10Powerful, but not too powerful. Seems pretty cool, the effects feel connected and they fit the flavour well. 10/10

I can even atomize just about any liquid I sell." Lettie allows the implication a moment to land. "I also have excess oils from the creation process, and I'll sometimes sell excess plants as well. There's alcohol, though I doubt you need it. Despite what it may seem, the books aren't for sale. I just don't have anywhere else to store them at the moment. I suppose lastly, I can perform some healing magic personally, as well as other magics. Now that I can draw mana from across planes, I no longer have quite the need for materials as I once did. I hope that answers your questions."Flask Seeper Creature — Plant Whenever an artifact is put into the graveyard from the battlefield, put a +1/+1 counter on Flask Seeper. 1/1
Not to hurry you, but this started in 0-100, and Lettie's close to 300-400. I'd like to see Khon again, but hopefully in a more present time. Cauldron Construct — Activation followed by activation is a bit irksome, considering these are on-board trick counters. This is also marginally better than a creature pinger, since you can build up a lethal amount of damage, and store it when there are no other creatures on board. I think this needs a development pass. However, the lack of reliance on present creatures is a design with a bit of potential. 7/10

When Lettie returns to the bakery location, there's a familiar blue letter on her desk. There is additional gold script on the back.
Well now, that was rude of her, wasn't it? No worries dear, you still have your chance. — JBack for More Sorcery Return up to three target nonland permanent cards with total converted mana cost 3 or less from your graveyard to the battlefield. Lettie stumbles into her room from the blind eternities, pulling in the usual horrid vapors. They'd have made her eyes water if she weren't already sobbing on the way out. Then, she sees the letter and slumps against the wall, and cries until her face has long dried, and she can only stare at the desk. It hadn't worked, but Pidge had tried to help her, and how had she reacted? With accusations, insults, threats, and demands. For what were supposed to be questions, she'd kept going on and left her where she stood. Left her and came home to the same damned letter.
It wasn't possible, not for Pidge, anyway. She would have had to make a new letter, with the extra script, in front of Lettie, then walk to Lettie's home, then back to PB&J, and Lettie would have seen her, or Lettie would have been already walking on her one-way trip, with a stride quicker than any walker she'd met. The letter couldn't have teleported itself across the planes. Magic that transports anything more than information across planes requires massive amounts of energy, from what she'd read in the documentation Zeni had left her. So it must have been someone else. That much would have been likely already, since Pidge claimed to have also been cursed.
Perhaps the alarms had seen whoever it was, and if they had, this was no time to be crouching and sobbing. Lettie gets up, and starts querying each of the alarms in her home, from the stuffed bears, to the elk heads, the alligators, and the turtles. Something in here must have seen something, even if it was too small to immediately notify her, or if she had been too distracted with Pidge to notice an alert. Whoever was doing this, they had made a mistake, going after Lettie directly. Once she had her clues, she would hunt them down, and there would be no need for rehearsal.Lettie Wormwood can now create Instant cards.Erase the Past Instant Exile X target cards from target player's graveyard. Draw a card. Back for More — This one's a pretty tough one to evaluate developmentally. Design-wise, it's a pretty good interpretation of what white cares about, and how pink might apply that to a wider selection of cards than creatures. I think most of the time, the best casting mode is the one that gets you three cmc 1 cards, since that usually has the largest potential value. I'm a bit wary of that mode, but otherwise, the card's good. 8/10

Lettie thinks over what she's seen. That was a woman's voice, and she looked human sized. Lettie didn't really know that many people on the Arena, but out of the women she knew, she could rule out Pidge, since she had just been with her, and was too small, and EPIC, since their entire base had been shut down by the cats. Kei hadn't been ruled out, but it was unlikely "K" had anything to do with "J". Then there was the matter of how they had appeared. The smoke had collected in the darkest corners. Perhaps they formed in darkness. It would explain why Pidge didn't know where the letters were coming from; it must be rather dark inside a mailbag. Those were the immediate clues. Now for the circumstances. Whoever had done this knew who had destroyed the letter and how, and were likely not present; Lettie seriously doubted the figure could be Jhanu or Brownie. Definitely not Januti, that was a man, and another victim. Perhaps the letters were like her alarms, and were relaying information as sensors. It would explain a lot. It also raised questions about how the curses were applied. Were they contained within the letters, as she'd originally thought? If so, discarding the letter would be sufficient. It would also explain why she had replaced the letter in person. "J" might have also done it because they thought Lettie would be an easy enough target. I will admit, I'm no saint. And I would do this if I could. But J seems to have missed something key here. I haven't got any friends. At least, definitely not five of them. Then there was Michi. He was a friendly sort. He'd likely succeeded. And if there were indeed great fortune at the end of the ordeal, there would be the matter of how it would be delivered. Another possible clue. Lettie puts the new letter in a purse with nothing else in it. Unless it could read thought, maybe she could act as though she would try to fulfill it. It would mean she could keep an eye on it as she asked Michi about the great fortune he might have received. She'd just need to try and act like a normal human for once. Silver Retriever Creature — Hound Flash When Silver Retriever enters the battlefield, exile target artifact or enchantment an opponent controls until Silver Retriever leaves the battlefield. 2/2 Labrynthine Trap — Symmetric cheat effect is the most immediately concerning, but seems to be of appropriate cost. I also like the incentive against removing it, though it would be stupid to let it stick around in most cases, bar multiplayer politics. I, however, do not like that it affects leaving the battlefield in any way, including bounce, as well as the graveyard, when it puts things there. I currently hope that Silver Retriever's effect gets replaced with it being poofed entirely. 7/10

A fireball crashes against the ground near one of Lettie's shops, flames smoldering over dead grass while the sounds of combat and chaos filled the air. A raucous cry erupted over the small town the the shop was situated near, aglow from a blazing that stretched into the sky. Running in, out, and throughout the burning village, civilians and warriors alike ran for their lives, some unceremonious cut short in their path by the town's assailants. Running in, out, and throughout the burning village, civilians and warriors alike ran for their lives, some unceremonious cut short in their path by the town's assailants. There'd be nothing left in a few hours time. {Spoiler}{Attack Card -Into the Breach} The explosion rocks the shop, and a stuffed alligator on the counter falls, triggering the alarm several times over. Within five seconds, Lettie appears in a puff of noxious fumes, and kicks it, cursing and clutching her head. She looks around for the culprit, and sees the fire lapping at her windows. She vanishes with another puff, and about a minute later reappears in the heat of the slaughter, with a utility belt bristling with flasks, and her mouth and nose covered by a kerchief soaked in neutralizer. This time, the fumes she drags in from the blind eternities rapidly expand, and turn a horrid pitch black. Though they smother flames, they pass over the innocent harmlessly, giving them time to catch their breath, and as an attacker charges recklessly into the darkness, unseen jaws sink their teeth into them, and hold them fast. Lettie listens for the sounds of any attackers not halted, and sets off after them.Hungering Darkness Instant Put a -1/-1 counter on each attacking creature. Prevent all combat damage that would be dealt this turn. Into the Breach — Thanks for the reminder text. I was about to go on about repeatable through the breach without sacrifice otherwise. While this is definitely far more reasonable, I don't really understand the utility. I can already cast creature cards from my hand by paying their costs, sometimes with flash too. All this seems to do is let you put creatures without flash onto the stack with somewhat convenient timings, since the creatures come in unable to block. The card also comes in with a flavourful downside, but I'd appreciate it much more if there were an upside. 5/10

test The fumes begin to make their way over the town, flowing forward over buildings and snuffing fires in its wake. The dark cloud continues unhindered, almost encompassing the area entirely before a loud yell, combined with a thunderous crack reverberated throughout the region. As quickly as it came, the advancing cloud was blown away in a sudden wind, which fueled any fires that were still burning. The chaos of the village was in plain view. Villagers and marauders dead and dying were strewn throughout the square. Buildings reduced to rubble and contains smashed open. Whoever had decided to raid this settlement, it was clear they had not been holding back. "Aye! Whatcha think you're doing with that cloud of yours?!" A loud, bellowing voice yelled at Lettie, soon followed by the heavy fall of hooves approaching her. Coming into her sight, a large, impressive centaur wielding a greatclub stopped several meters away from her. Two horns sprouted over her head, her humanoid half of her body tattooed and physically impressive. Behind her, several more warriors, centaur and members of other races alike, filed in, taking up the space behind her as their apparent leader confronted the alchemist. "Well? I asked ya a question!"{Response Card - Cleansing Air} Hungering Darkness: This is more of a white effect, given Choking Fumes, but the damage prevention is green. It's hard to decide how to really rate this effect, since WG isn't really color that feels like it would have this effect. 6/10.

It's just as well, seeing as my deadliest vapours would kill the innoecent. And there's one of the brutes now, centaur, solid hooves, not like the cloven ones of a faun, and... many more. At least they're all standing close together."Well? I asked ya a question!"
Lettie gives the centaur a blank stare, and pulls down the soaked kerchief. Here stood one woman amidst the rubble and corpses, before a raiding party, not even out of her shopkeeper's dress, with an expression a mix between excessive focus and utter cluelessness. "I hadn't been paying attention. I would have thought you'd charge first, and ask questions never. With that question out of the way..." With surprising speed, she throws a flask from her belt to the ground. "...You're welcome to go ahead and charge." Lettie, who had been writing a letter, stands from her chair quick enough to knock it onto its back. She sees the bag the line is slithering out of, then puts up her left hand, fingers ready to snap, and growls, "Bitter stars, you're impatient. If you can speak, you'd better say something fast."Pursuing Slime Instant Destroy target artifact or enchantment unless its controller creates a 3/3 green Ooze token tapped under your control. Golden Signature — Seems to expect three damage or so, going by the costs. It seems like it'd be an interesting bit of politics in multiplayer, potentially, but I feel like more often people will just vote it down, and primarily you trying to fuel it yourself. Compare and contrast to Impact Tremors. 8/10
