Rampaging Octopus Creature — Octopus Rampaging Octopus attacks each combat if able. Whenever you draw your second card each turn, put a +1/+1 counter on Rampaging Octopus. : Rampaging Octopus gains hexproof until end of turn. This ability costs less, where X is Rampaging Octopus’s power, but not less than 1. 3/3

Nothing too fancy but flavorful and solid enough, imo.

Ah jeez. I saw this yesterday and totally forgot to announce the winner. My bad. Thanks for pinging me ameisenmeister.
Jartis Very interesting! I don't get "wizard" from the art, but stranger things have happened. I'm also not totally sure why it has reach, since a creature like this is underwater most of the time, though I suppose its considerable tentacles and alleged wizardry would help. But the ability is super cool, so you absolutely get points for that. If nothing else, I'm sure Thraximundar approves.
gluestick248 A 3/3 for five mana with a technical downside (must attack) is not great, but I appreciate that it has built-in protection with innate cost reduction, and it's not like Izzet struggles to draw cards. I'd rather this be either a 3/4 or cost less, however. Still, pretty good. Definitely playable in the right deck.
viriss It's always a pleasure to see new keywords in these sorts of challenges, and that Kraken is definitely Horror-fying. This just seems like strictly-more-flexible devour, but that's fine by me, since it has a clear link to blue. Solid statline even without the consume bonus. Possibly too good? I could definitely see this sort of thing getting printed--maybe in Ikoria!
ameisenmeister It's definitely very flavorful. Having said that, there are only 29 Vehicle cards, and while some of them are quite good and therefore prime targets, I worry that most of the time it's a mere 4/4 flash for 4UU. Which is, you know, an okay statline, hardly exciting, but like you say it doesn't have to be.
nazsmith Probably too pushed, but it's a clever idea. I just worry about, for example, T1 Gilded Goose --> T2 Pine Kraken bouncing the Goose. Still, nice job finding the art. At 1GG or even 2G this would be balanced far better.
The winner is ........... viriss! Second place goes to Jartis and third to ameisenmeister. Well done everyone!

Sweetness!!
Next challenge: a red construct
(I was surprised to find they already exist.)

Red is not merely mono-red. (And Construct is not merely mono-Construct.) Took a while to find satisfying art, but once I saw it I knew it had to be multicolored, and the rest sort of fell into place.
Updated to make it rare. Small text is small. {Previous entry}

FLAREdirector Interesting and versatile monk. At rare you could probably even do more with each ability, like trample and flying for / . Not sure what energy would give, maybe the +1/+1 is enough. melono Scary fast construct! Might be broken even! =) It really make me wonder if the 2 life is enough of a trade off for 2 power. Maybe, maybe not. ameisenmeister Oh this strange contraption! Like... what is it man?! =) Slow but versatile. I keep thinking the last ability should have the counter requirement in front of the colon, but it doesn't do anything by itself... so it's like a Spike. The sorcery speed probably isn't needed. Winner ameisenmeister

Thanks for the win! Your next creature will be a Gorgon, but without Deathtouch please. I'm fine with Gorgon-flavored instants, sorceries, etc. like Gaze of the Gorgon or Coils of the Medusa.

At first I was unsure about whether to go with a rare (which would return the spell directly to your hand) or an uncommon (which only puts on top of your library) - but after some pondering I decided to go with the latter and therefore adjusted the mana cost as such.

Spectral Gorgon Creature — Gorgon Spirit Whenever Spectral Gorgon deals combat damage to a creature, exile that creature until Spectral Gorgon leaves the battlefield. 2/4 Not deathtouch. Nope. Completely different. Not even a little.

Quest for the Serpent's Curse Enchantment At the beginning of each end step, if a creature an opponent controlled died this turn, put a quest counter on ~.
At the beginning of each end step, if there are three or more quest counters on ~, you may put a Gorgon, Snake, Naga, Lamia, or Serpent creature card from your hand onto the battlefield.
A play on one of my favorite cards of all time, Quest for Ula's Temple. Quests were cool, yo. Originally just did it whenever a creature an opponent controls dies, but I didn't want this to be "drop this, board wipe, I win".

Judgement day has cometh!
{viriss} The idea is very flavorful, yet it seems a bit weird in its execution. I get that it creates the aura tokens to be more interactive but it is really just like a weaker version of deathtouch, except that it can kill indstructible creatures too. Another issue I have is that the ability will probably not do much in the first place. Sefeno is a great blocker that's for sure but your opponent might just wait until they have removal for her. On the attack, it's really pointless because your opponent will simply take the 1 damage. This will result in the ability reading cool on the card but never actually petrifying anything in a real game. All in all, the card isn't bad and the idea of a stone aura isn't either but it just is so much like deathtouch and so dependant on your opponent that the card itself just doesn't do it for me.
{Lady Mapi} It's Kulrath Knight with super flanking! The idea is nice and I especially like that the stats are made for attacking. Of all the designs here I feel yours pushed gorgons the most into a new direction but still staying true to what gorgons are.
{Daij_Djan} This is a great card, for sure. Simple, elegant and flavorful. Destroy target creature are three magic words that make the heart of every player beat faster. I especially like that it is not returned to your hand because that would have the potential to be crazy overpowered in limited depending on how many gorgons the set has. The way it is, the card is a good pick in limited even without gorgons or Vraskas, but can turn into a all star with just one or two supporting cards.
{gluestick248} Actually I think it's far away enough from deathtouch. It gives classic gorgons an interesting twist but still stays true to what gorgons are about. The problem I could imagine with this card is that it trades with a creature (or creatures), thereby nullifying its ability. If you attack with it, for instance, your opponent can simply gang block it as their creatures return right to the battlefield anyway. A problem that isn't there with deathtouch.
{FLAREdirector} Interesting card and a strong flavor. Pharika being the god of poisons and antidotes can certainly bless her followers with immunity to toxins. When it comes to the power of the card, however, it doesn't really deliver. The semi „protection from deathtouch“ is way too narrow to justify spending four mana on a 2/4. This could have easily costed three mana or granted you and all your creatures the anti-deathtouch protection. As it stands, it's a cool idea but not that much of a convincing package.
{melono} I always think it's funny when fantasy races have a special bond with a particular „similar“ non sentient species. Like aven and birds, merfolk and fish or, in this case, gorgons and snakes. Following the same logic, humans would summon and speak to apes or monkeys all day long.
Your card is a nice one. Gorgons usually don't seem like the fighting type to me so having them summon snakes to do the dirty work feels natural to me. Lorra itself looks a bit weak though, considering that you pay six mana for a 3/4 creature that doesn't do anything on itself.
{lizstar} Like your card and like your idea to change the „whenever a creature an opponent controls dies“ part. I am a fan of the Quest idea too and grouping gorgons, snakes, serpents etc. together makes perfect sense (except for the lamia, because magic's only lamia in existence looks nothing like a snake). The only thing that could maybe be problematic is that you don't have full control over when to put counters on the quest. Against a creature light deck, for example, this will probably be a dead card and even if it activates eventually, it might be too late for you to have any potential creature cards in your hand anyway.
{And the winner is...} Daij_Djan! With Lady Mapi in second place. Two elegant desings that both feel fresh while perfectly capturing the gorgon feel.
Thanks everyone for participating!
