It's time to stereotype in the Creature Type Game!
This game is played like most games: A challenge a week (or a bit longer). You'll be designing a creature that falls within the challenge given to you by the challenge setter/judger. The challenge will be about: Making a creature that would fit the creature type(s) given by the challenge setter.
Here's some more explanation in case it's not clear what the challenges can be. The challenge setter can go about creating a challenge in multiple ways, and here are only some examples: - Have the players make a stereotypical [creature type] card An example could be that the challenge would be "make a goblin", for which a player makes a 1/1 red creature with haste and some kind of self-sacrifice. You wouldn't necessarily need to see the name or creature type to know that that is a goblin.
- Have the players make a card for a new/barely used creature type, like Rabbit, Sponge, or the not (yet) used Coral. Then the player would have to make a creature that would fit that type using people's current preconceptions of what those types are. - Have the players make a card for a combination of two creature types. Elephant Cleric? Golem Wizard? What are those? Show it to the challenger.
And you can always add something else to the challenge like "Design a Goblin that isn't red."
Anyways, I'll start off with the first challenge and we'll see how this goes: Create a non-Human Knight creature which embodies both the Knight type and whatever existing creature type you added.

*Snip* All renders require proper artist credit in the appropriate space. ~Daij_Djan
Nice idea for a challenge, however, I would suggest more advanced specifications for future challenges.

Judgement time! Thanks to all participants for, well, participating! Jartis - Clockwork Knight very strongly conveys what types it has. Vigilance and Double strike being typical Knight keywords, and Modular being a typical construct keyword. I also find the way this card is set up really cool that even though it's a modular creature, it doesn't have the same power and toughness due to double strike. My main gripe with this card is that it's a common, as double strikers are more often uncommon, and the power and amount of keywords made me think uncommon as well. ameisenmeister - Faceless Paladin is a strong card in the right deck, but does feel like it belongs as a common. The unblockable with condition also exists within (red/black) knights and Lacerate is something you'd see on horror creatures mechanically speaking (just like Infect is on a lot of horrors). I do have to say that the mechanic Lacerate doesn't feel very powerful, even with it being more of a condition triggerer like in the case of Faceless Paladin's second ability. This is probably because I hold it against previous mechanics Infect and Wither. Daij_Djan - Amphibian Knight has two mechanics that really fit both creature types well. Exalted for knights, and Leaping for Frogs. The thing is, just like the card Leap shows, flying fits in blue, not in green. I kind of wonder why you went with green instead. I like the choice of the creature type Frog in combination with this challenge. hkeenan18 - Soulles Conqueror is quite the beast. A 4/4 deathtouch lifelink for 2 is great, even if it rots away over time. Especially if you have some way to remove/convert -1/-1 counters. I like the Rot mechanic (even though some people are against downside mechanics, I am not one of them), and I think it gives great flavour to the Zombie type. I however do not see a lot of "Knight" in this card. Is this because I didn't give more specifications? What could I have said that would've made things more clear? {Spoiler}{Numbah one!}The winner is Jartis with Clockwork Knight! Thanks again for trying this challenge. If you think there is any way this contest would work better: say so. I can always edit the OP

@ melono: Thanks for your feedback I wanted to go with green as most Frogs so far are within that color (even though we recently had a blue one as well) and when I set up the card I actually believed jumping to by ok in green - I actually confused it with the Orchard Spirit ability for some reason. Should have gone with blue/green to fit the flavor and the mechanical side best

Nice! First win on a new challenge. Thanks! ^-^
I'm going to stick with the idea of presenting a class type, and going to tap into one of humanity's greatest debates in the process. Given that there are 87 Pirates, we should be outraged that there are only 14 Ninjas. Kamigawa is the obvious plane for ninjas, and I'd like to see it back, so it wouldn't be a bad place to start, but if we've learned anything from Magic, it's that the multiverse doesn't always have to make sense. It might be interesting to see Tarkir ninjas, Ravnican ninjas...dare I say Innistrad ninjas? I think I do...so...design a ninja! (sidenote: Don't feel constrained to blue/black. If you feel like you can make other colors work, either mechanically or even just from whatever race you pair it with, feel free to show it off)

Silleris of the Shikigami Legendary Creature - Human Ninja Ninjutsu ( , Return an unblocked attacker you control to hand: Put this card onto the battlefield from your hand tapped and attacking.) Whenever ~ deals combat damage to a player, you may discard a creature card from your hand. If you do, ~ deals damage to any target equal to its power. 4/3 Couldn't find art (with mention of the author I could refer to) for a render unfortunately.

So I decided to go with one of my favorite planes for this one, Amonkhet. Luckily for me, in a plane where warriors train in all sort of especialties to their limit, it made sense some might come up with ideas similar to a ninja, and mechanically there was also something that could pair up nicely with ninjutsu, with a few tweaks. I couldn't find a good image that had quite the clean wraps of the typical Amonkhet mummies, so I decided to shift this one's lore a little: They are a ninja that hunts other innitiates, not participating themselves, but simply acting in the shadows with the dissenters. As such, their corpses aren't properly mummified and are instead affected by Amonkhet's curse of wandering.

Ironbark Ambusher - Creature - Treefolk Ninja Ninjitsu , return a Forest you control to your hand: Put Ironbark Ambusher onto the battlefield blocking target unblocked creature attacking you. 2/5 You thought it was a tree, but no! It was a tree folk!

Boy, I didn't realize how many Ninjas would be in Modern Horizons when I set this challenge. XD Well, let's get to the judging. { melono }I really like the inclusion of red Ninjas. The effect works really well, and doesn't come at a trivial cost. Well balanced, cool card. { mrlozano }Assigning damage equal to toughness is an effect rarely seen in blue, and never mono-blue, but given the Turtle context and that it only triggers once, it probably works. Not really sure about hexproof, though, maybe I'm just missing something? { gluestick248 }I was not expecting a mono-red Ninja, but it makes sense. Big power that can sneak in and hopefully not die at instant speed. Doesn't even need haste because of the ninjutsu cost. Interesting. { Idea }Not sure if that second ability actually works to embalm the creature. Even if it did, I'm not sure why you would want to embalm it from your hand, unless you really needed it to be a Zombie or white. That said, I appreciate the flavor here. { Lady Mapi }I love the introduction of "defensive ninjutsu," and it works so well for a Treefolk. Also, I love the idea of Treefolk ninjas, and I'm super disappointed Wizards haven't given them to us yet, now. XD {Winner}Not a ton of entries this time around, but I enjoyed what everyone did with it. The winner was almost literally a coin flip, but I'm gonna give the win to Lady Mapi with melono as a very close second.

You appear to have misunderstood the card, it says you can return a creature to your hand to either cast the dissenter from your hand or embalm it. Embalm is always from the grave, so the mechanic makes you able to embalm them as a sort of ninjutsu from the grave.

Treecrusher Bear Creature - Bear As long as ~ has 3 or more power, it has trample. It loves the sound of young trees cracking and snapping in its embrace. If a good tree can't be found, then bones are a sufficient substitute.2/2

Bear as in a 2/2 or bear as in a bear creature in type? Why not both? Maybe both. I just want to know what the conditions are so I know my options.

Why not both? Maybe both. I just want to know what the conditions are so I know my options. Make a Bear (capital 'B' because it's a proper subtype). When in doubt, go for the actual type in the creature type game.
