Reckless Prodigy Creature - Human Child Wizard Each nonland card in your hand has madness. The madness cost is equal to its mana cost. : Discard a card, then draw a card. 0/1

Updated name from Teller of Tales, which was already a card (thanks ameisenmeister). Note: Pinocchio stems from the words pino (pine tree, pine wood) and occhio (eye).

vizionarius: I first read your rename as "Pin-Eyed Puppet", which reminded me of this.

I have waited this time. This is the first card I designed for this site. But I didn't see well the challenge at that time. The challenge was closed long long ago.

moweda {Spoiler}{Spoiler}This is a really good start, with palpable flavor and a cool mechanic that lets you take advantage of red's propensity for self-discarding to play your cards anyway. That being said, giving everything madness AND drawing a card (which can be turned into basically two mana draw a card on repeat) is quite a strong effect and the comparison I found was Falkenrath Gorger. For two less mana this card is a 2/1 (pretty significant at 1 mana) but only gives madness to vampires. On the other hand, he has no built-in trigger for discarding, especially not one that does something as powerful as drawing a card. All in all, I think your card is very pushed, but still relatively balanced, and the only thing I think would need changing is to add a tap to that draw ability to prevent it from getting too out of control. vizionarius {Spoiler}{Spoiler}I like how you kind of portray Pinochio's story with this card, it's very eldraine-esque and I like how he first must go down either being humbled or going down a path degrading his dignity before rising back up again as who he can truly be. The balance I think is about right if a little bit weak, especially since its gets progressively harder to make the puppet live with each +1/+1 counter that goes away and the trigger explicitly requires it to get involved in combat (even if just attacking your opponent) pernicious {Spoiler}{Spoiler}I like the idea you're for with this card but it feels a bit backwards, or at the very least there's a frustrating element to the card. The demon requires you to sacrifice a child, but the child you had was already sacrificed to get the demon (well, for something else too, but the point is you can't get the demon without sacrificing the child) so you can no longer sacrifice it to the demon. I guess this could be meant to have several of these cards, making extra demons by sacrificing children to the demons, but the design doesn't suggest they're meant to work in groups. Flavor wise I guess it could work if the first orphan is just summoning the demon though the mechanical similarity would suggest flavor similarity as well, but ye...
That tangent aside, the card's idea is clever if with some bumps in execution and I think it seems pretty balanced overall, and fun to play (and probably inviting a number of jokes at the table). pistonsmcgraw {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Pretty straightforward card with cool borrowing of Xanthrid Gorgon's effect, though you seem to have missed the part about not letting activated abilities be activated. Also interesting that even the original still lets the creature's static abilities stay in effect. emberfire17 {Spoiler}{Spoiler}This captures really well the concept of a card being child type and then moving on from it, upgrading the initial ability to remove one of its downsides (which also naturally limits its use to once per turn by not letting it keep the ability while transformed). Age counters are also really appropriate, love their addition in this, and overall the card seems fun and balanced. twintania {Spoiler}{Spoiler}There's a lot of silver border stuff going on at once with this card, generally not recommended to put too many. While I see what you're getting at also, I think making the initial cost and first upgrade halfmana practically guarantees this card will be a 1/1 adolescent right away, making some of the card feel a bit bloated, especially seeing as there's barely any contribution in the first two upgrades (just a slight stat upgrade). That being said, aside from pretty much always skipping childhood I really like the flavor of this card, it seems like a fun little thing though it at once has a little too much going on and not enough, in my view. Winner {Spoiler}{Spoiler}I will give this victory over to emberfire17 for a fun, balanced and flavorful card that I think captured well the spirit of the challenge. Second place goes to pistonsmcgraw that adorable little thing with a simple but very effective design.

Thanks for the win! For the next challenge, create one or more Incarnations. Incarnations are usually made in a color cycle with each color representing a virtue. You can make just one, or even a whole cycle if you'd like.

Defensiveness Creature - Incarnation Horse Flying, divert 1 (If a source an opponent controls would deal damage to this creature, 1 of that damage is dealt to that source's controller instead.)As long as ~ is in your graveyard, creatures you control that share a color with ~ have flying and divert 1. "Why didn’t you do it?"
2/3 Contempt Creature - Incarnation Horse Menace, consume (Whenever a creature dealt damage by this creature this turn would die, exile it instead. Spells with the same name as a card exiled this way your opponents cast cost more to cast.)As long as ~ is in your graveyard, creatures you control that share a color with ~ have menace and consume. "Could you be any more pathetic?"3/2 Dissociation Creature - Incarnation Horse First strike while attacking, pillage (Whenever this creature deals combat damage to a player, exile the top card of that player’s library. Until end of turn, you may cast that card, and you may spend mana as though it were mana of any color to cast that spell.) As long as ~ is in your graveyard, creatures you control that share a color with ~ have first strike while attacking and pillage. "Good riddance! But I'll keep this ."3/2 Criticism Creature - Incarnation Horse Trample, singe 1 (Whenever this creature becomes blocked, it deals 1 damage to each creature blocking it.)As long as ~ is in your graveyard, creatures you control that share a color with ~ have trample and singe 1. "You never think of others!"4/4 Stonewalling Creature - Incarnation Horse Vigilance, entrench (Whenever this creature blocks a creature, that creature loses all abilities until end of turn.)As long as ~ is in your graveyard, creatures you control that share a color with ~ have vigilance and entrench. "Yeah, sure ... (whatever)."3/4 References- Creature names are from Gottman, except for my own addition of Dissociation as the final nail in the coffin. Some of the flavor texts are from that link too. - Pillage is from me (except you no longer need the correct colors to cast those cards here). - Divert, consume, singe, and entrench are new. - "First strike while attacking" is my new proposed wording for " As long as it’s your turn, ~ has first strike".

Imagination Creature — Elemental Incarnation (Acorn)When you cast this spell, exile the top card of your library. ~ has the text box of each creature or enchantment card exiled by it. Evoke—Exile a purple card from your hand. 0/5 It is a forgotten dreamer, chasing lingering possibilities.Goal is for the design to work with the cards/effects listed in The Color Purple. A narrow 0-mana card 'advantage' spell that is restricted by its casting conditions and what it can potentially get. Acorn since A) it's a concept that never left playtest stage and B) the effect itself is silver border/acorn at most - see Do-It-Yourself Seraph. Eccentricity Creature — Elemental Incarnation Flash When ~ enters the battlefield, choose one: - Each player who has cast a spell with odd mana value this turn can’t cast additional spells with odd mana value this turn. - Each player who has cast a spell with even mana value this turn can’t cast additional spells with even mana value this turn. Evoke—Exile a colorless nonland card from your hand. 4/1 It is a bizarre outcast, navigating strange assumptions.Inspiration taken from Void Winnower. Eldrazi cards like Emrakul, the Promised End and artifact cards like Trinisphere have a mutual history of screwing with what the opponent can play, so an incarnation that reflects this aspect of colorless seems apt. Initially I had this so even blocked more odd spells and odd blocked more even spells, but I realized that was both too easy to avoid and promoted a more natural flow of playing your cards of increasing costs, so I changed the effect so that it instead effectively prevents players from spamming the same kind of card over and over and forces them to be 'varied' each turn the card is out. This was also when the card changes from having an ongoing effect to an ETB effect to better work with Evoke. Originally this was deliberately fragile so that it can be easily be dealt with even if it stays on the battlefield, but I decided to keep the P/T because I think it fits the 'oddity' of an Incarnation being so fragile and fleeting compared to its more durable counterparts. Festivity Creature — Elemental Incarnation When ~ enters the battlefield, you may untap target snow permanent you control. Evoke—Exile a snow nonland card from your hand. 2/2 It is a cheerful aide, supplying prosperous futures.I originally named this "Slumber" but when I thought of it a lot of holidays take place in the winter and even in Magic we get a decent of chunk of Snow cards like Braid of Fire and Ice-Fang Coatl that are all about accumulating large amounts of mana/card advantage. Keen eyed observers might notice that this is reflected in this particular card's ability to untap a snow land and get a free mana (or possibly more, if you are willing to build the entire deck around it.) Compleation Creature — Phyrexian Incarnation When ~ enters the battlefield, each player loses 1 life. Repeat this effect for each three mana spent to cast ~. Evoke—Exile a card with Phyrexian mana in its cost from your hand. 3/3 Is it a heartless perfectionist, rejecting meaningful flaws.Inspiration taken from how Compleat is balanced by weakening the spell cast if you try to cast it for cheaper. It has pretty bad life loss rate in exchange for the flexibility of being an incarnation based one one of the cheaper 'mana' in the game.

Totally forgot about this so thanks for the bump. Alright, judging time. vizionarius - I like the unique keywords on all of them, as well as the art. Good stuff! ZephyrPhantom - I really enjoy the concept of a cycle around irregular mana rather than the usual 5 colors, very creative take. Idea - Unique abilities paired with a very solid protection ability, nice. sdfkjgh - Good ability, and with all the color cycles of incarnations it would be cool to have a colorless one as well. melono - Fun abilities, and I like the even spread of keywords across them too. moweda - Eventually when the rest of that cycle comes out it would be interesting to see how they compare to yours. I imagine the abilities would be very similar! This one was tough, I really liked all of these. The winner is ZephyrPhantom with vizionarius as runner up.

Thanks for the win. I'm glad when an unusual idea like this does well.
Your next challenge is to make a Citizen that costs 7 or more mana. Bonus points if you can avoid using Affinity (keyworded or unkeyworded) while doing so. Good luck.

Thanks for the reminder vizionariusUnfortunately I don't know if I can do a full judging this week. moweda wins for having the most graceful take on the 'might of the masses' flavor of Citizens that also sends it in a flavorfully fresh direction. Runner ups are emberfire17 for making an interesting lord design and sdfkjgh for scaling up a blue design fairly well (though a maid that powerful is kind of suspicious flavorfully)
