Mantle is 7/10, probably fine even if the rarity and base cost are a bit high Some time after Rekal received the mantle, a purple haired mermaid showed up to recruit him on behalf of an organization known as the High Builders. She turned her legs into a tail and started soaking in a nearby river as soon as he was gone. Rekal is stored here below: Rekal Aarii Elvish Sellsword Converted mana cost level (3 points) 3 Type mastery (2 points) Instant, Enchantment Multicolour level 1 Other perks (2 points) Spellslinger (This character can design Aura, Curse, Shrine, Saga, Arcane, and Trap cards.) Rarity upgrader (This character can design rare and mythic cards.) Available skill points 1 Valour / Score 1.5 / 201.5 Can call from aid from Magic 2010-2015 (/ available)
Normally a mercenary who fights for money, when he's not bound by any contract to any army, Rekal likes to visit the Arena, among other planes, and fight for pleasure instead. His employers are mostly fellow planeswalkers who know that they'll find him there. {Spoiler}{Image} Art by Shaent Saov

Neottolemo The river's peace is interupted. A loud blast breaks apart the nearby ground. It seems to be coming from further down.Violent Quakes Enchantment When ~ enters the battlefield, it deals 1 damage to each player. At the begginning of your upkeep sacrifice ~. If you do, it deals 2 damage to each creature without flying. "Like thunder before the storm, seek to escape before the true disaster comes"

Violent Quakes: I guess as a sidegrade to Pyroclasm this could in theory be fine, but in practice early game this forces your opponent to withhold creatures for a turn, which doesn't feel particularly red and feels more impactful than a simple Pyroclasm, so I think it might warrant a slightly higher cost. 8/10
"Levya's grace!", Hyle curses, rather politely. "That will not do." Coral grows over the damaged ground, in an attempt to hold it together and block the blast.
Mender's Art
Instant For each creature you control, prevent the next 2 damage that would be dealt to that creature this turn. You gain 1 life for each 2 damage prevented this way. A life mage is an irreplaceable part for any adventurers' expedition whose members want to come back safe and fresh as a rose... Or at least, heavily injured and tired enough to sleep for days, but alive.

Neottolemo Safe Passage but less protection for life gain. I think the prevent 2 damage is good enought to get the job done in early game, but later game this just doesn't seem good. It is very situational, and kind of bad for it's cost, 8/10. The damage appears to be fixed, and the noise has stopped for now. After a while, the remaining cracks in the ground begin to emit a dim red glow. There is a trail where the light gets stronger, and the cracks get progressivly bigger and more frequent.Trail of Destruction Enchanment Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell, exile the top card of your library. Until end of turn, you may cast that card. (You still pay its costs) , Sacrifice ~: Search your library for an instant or sorcery card, exile it, then shuffle your library. Until end of turn, you may cast that card. Activate this ability only if there are six or more instant or sorcery spells in your graveyard, and only any time you could cast a sorcery. (You still pay its costs)

Yeah you're right, in hindsight my card's not that great, I like fog + scaling lifegain effects but I guess I overestimated this one.
Trail of Destruction: Not 100% sure the last effect is in red, I haven't seen it do much tutoring even if limited like this. I guess trying this out in red wouldn't do much harm, though. If it didn't end up working out, I guess it's possible that this would be changed to exiling a number of cards from your library and then letting you cast some of them for free, like one of the Chandra ults. Other than that, cool flavour and interesting effect. 8/10
Hyle doesn't attempt to follow the trail. She closes her eyes and focuses. "You attempt to trap me. I will not allow it." Grains of sand and dirt glow white on the ground nearby, in a pattern resembling a pillow. A spirit emerges from them, and attempts to contain the red energy with its presence.
Agent of Rest Creature - Spirit Flash If a card would be exiled from anywhere, put it into its owner's graveyard instead.
It remains awake so others may sleep. Sort of a night shift among spirit, really, but with really long shifts.
3 /1

Neottolemo Playing with exile isn't reccomended, since so much is based off of exile being this sacred zone that is really hard to interact with outside of very limited means, such as proccessor. This plus aftermath, for instance, means you have infite spells, and that's just one of the many mechanics. This would be better if it only applied to cards exiled from the library, as it would be a little less breakable. Even then, might be a little too powerful, being universal hate for anything that exile. Too much would be affected by a 3 mana permanent with flash, including red's entire impulse casting mechanic, graveyard hate cards, oblivion ring effects are now just pure exile, and more. 7/10, affects too much, and too hard to balance other cards around its existence. The cracks' glowing stops, but a new darkness emerges. The water nearby already becoming tainted by the oily black ink.Spreading Corruption Enchantment All nonland permanents are black. All nonland cards that aren't on the battlefield, spells, and permanents are black. Each land is a swamp in addition to its other land types. Combo with Sphinx's Tutelage, meaning this will mill you down to a land each time I draw a card with this combo on the field.

This is what happens when you completely change what your card does at the last second, lol. I originally had an Aven Mindcensor variant instead. What if my card had a "you may" and only affected cards its controller doesn't own? Still too powerful in multiplayer?
Spreading Corruption: I'd rather see this level of fixing in green, and I guess I might let blue get it as well, but when black makes things Swamps, it tends to do so by overwriting their other types, so this feels out of colour. Clever, though. 5/10
A knight rides forth from a nearby grove. He is wearing full armour, but his gauntlets are missing. He dismounts and dips his blessed fingers in the water.
Creature - Human Knight First strike
When Purifying Paladin enters the battlefield, you may destroy any number of target enchantments. "If my heart is true, the darkness will disperse."

Neottolemo Are you sure? Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth makes things swamps in addition. So does Blanket of Night. I understand there are black cards that change them completely to swamps, but is it really that bad to have this on 4? Reclamation Sage is a good card. This is way too good. a 2 mana 2/2 first strike is practically baseline so only adding 1 mana for a selective board wipe on enchantments is way too much. I have to say 6/10, because even though it deals with both of the enchants, an effect like this on a creature like this should probably be more than 3, since it's on a good creature with a good effect for its cost. Put the chosen land onto the battlefield tapped, and shuffle the other two into your library. Well, technically, it's a 5, not a 4. But yeah, Urbog is a planar chaos card that only got reprinted once, in a core set, during a time when they admitted that they didn't care as much about the colour pie for core sets as they do now, and your other example is from Visions, which is very old. So, I feel my rating is justified. I feel like "destroy target artifact or enchantment" is more playable than "destroy target enchantment" in general, so Reclamation Sage isn't really comparable that closely imo, but I admit my card ended up too versatile and strong, yeah. What if it was a 2/1 and it destroyed all enchantments, even yours, no matter what, without any "may"s or "any number of target"s?
Strange Wanderings: Not strictly better than Rampant Growth[/card[ and Forest's Lore, but it's often going to be better than them in Constructed, especially in the early game, because you can pick three lands that all produce the same colour and get a tapped dual land which makes whatever colour you needed, anyway. Worse in limited, though. I'm not sure what to think. Wizards stopped printing Rampant Growth in Standard and started printing strictly worse variants instead, so while that card might return, this feels somewhat off. Wait, Realms Uncharted exists. Nevermind. Be careful with your Standard, but your card's probably fine. 8.5/10
Hyle begins to stare at the golem. She is quite tense, and still ready to fight at any moment. She suspects the golem isn't sentient or sapient, and that someone sent it there to attack her, but she refuses to strike unprovoked.
Stare Down Instant You gain 3 life.

NeottolemoWhen it comes to the corruption card, I meant due to the mana cost being 4, the effect probably wasnt that bad, but yeah I see what you mean about my references being out dated. You're card isn't really common complexity. Also, maybe the choice should be made when the card is cast, although it may already be that way, the wording and time of everything is weird, especially since it's an instant. Two cards and life in an instant for 2, even if situational, is probably too good for white. However since your opponent can choose to skip, that makes it less harsh, so 8/10. The golem stops and looks over, noticing the stare. A voice echos from it. "Hello". The golem waves. It goes back to looking around, as if searching for somthing.Search Through Enchantment When ~ enters the battlefield, search your library for a card, shuffle your library, and put that card fith from the top. Hyle slowly emerges from the waters with her head and shoulders. "Hello", she murmurs. "Fishing is alright, as brutal as it is, but please do not strike the water in anger. There was an emperor once, I was told, who had it branded with hot irons for some wrong he thought the currents had done to him. People who loved the seas later lined up to strike him down with the iron of their swords. I do not purpose to do anything so brutal, but I know the waters have a way to take things." She makes a long pause, thinking up some comforting words for the crying soldier, but gets distracted. "Mister? It appears your weapon is glowing."

That's why I came here, you know - you wouldn't think that a plane of existence dedicated to conflict between world-walkers would have places worth protecting... but here we are."Unburden the Heart - Instant - The next time target instant or sorcery would be put into its owner's graveyard this turn, instead return it to its owner's hand and put the top two cards of that player's library into their graveyard. (Intended as a gift - Kirino has a hard time not hurting the things she cares for in some way.) Through the Channels is pretty solid. It feels like a nice solid sidegrade to Mystic Tutor. Let's call it 9/10.

He swallowed again, rubbing his face with his arm. "S-sorry. I don't really know what's come over me." he said. "Maybe I'll learn, but odds are I'll die on this wretched land." he said. "Good meeting you, Hyle." he turned and walked off, his spear still glowing as he walked with it.
Master of Cherished Pasts: White gets stuff like this all the time. I'd kinda prefer a 2/4 over a 2/5 for it, but that's my only concern, so have the 9.5 rounded up to 10/10.

(Technically, this is happening quite a bit before the "Kirino Must Die" war that's going on. Or, at least, that's what I'm thinking. I hope you agree.) Kirino takes her hand graciously and cuts a little curtsy. "My name is Kirino Oblay. A pleasure to meet you. And I'll take a glass of that rosé, thank you." A few quiet moments pass, punctuated only by the serene flow of the river."You know, I wish I could be like you, Hyle. I wish I belonged somewhere this peaceful . Places I live have a terrible tendency to burn down around me, and I'm sick of it. Let's call it 9/10. Yeah this is a lot before that whole ruckus. Also I'm assuming the second paragraph is while they're already at the picnic, if that works for you
Unburden the Heart: Powerwise this looks alright, but I don't think the is justified here because the thing this cards does (giving you an instant or sorcery back) is something can also do, and the card as a whole feels mechanically and not , and there aren't sufficient power level concerns to justify adding another colour either. 5.5/10
Hyle smiles. "It's surprising, isn't it? All the fighting that goes on on the rest of this plane doesn't make this place isn't any less beautiful. Back from where I'm from, the High Builders help us find and create places like these. That's how they first earnt the respect of my people, helping us shape an underwater rock formation into the city of Lagan Tantid, where I come from." She looks at Kirino in the eyes. "You must have lost a lot to be this on edge in this situation, to purposefully seek planes with no places worth protecting. I don't think you have any intention to let this place burn down. You are welcome here."
Sorcery You and each of your teammates each draw X cards.

Kirino leans back and smiles faintly. "It's not fully about intentions, Hyle. I have far more enemies than I have friends." She sips at her wine. "Although... I have been meeting some people. Maybe this will be a nice, quiet retirement."She reaches into the folds of her dress and pulls out a bottle of a purplish wine. "A trade for the rosé. Please, accept it. I was raised to bring a gift for my host, after all. I do have to go, though - maybe we'll meet again someday."Kirino gets up and leaves. You don't see her again until, well, you know when.Gifting with the Guest System, since I'm just about to retire Kirino: Steelplum Wine - Artifact - , : Tap target creature. Delicious, if not a little heady. Brilliant Concord is a fantastic bit of card advantage. Nice and straightforward too. 9/10

Lady Mapi: Steelplum Wine's flavour comes through nicely and the rarity fits but I feel like the activation cost is a bit on the cheap side. 7/10

At the edge of the river, a stranger's figure stands three meters tall. A pitch-black aura of mist seems to emanate from his pale skin, and it begins pouring into the stream, bringing with it the reek of black mana, darkness and corruption.Despite having his head almost entirely covered in a helmet, the creature sees Hyle as she appears, and begins to speak with his deep, hoarse, smoky voice."Greetings, my name is Malextros" he introduces himself "And I believe you have been interacting with a person I have a particular interest on finding. I may need your help with that, and in exchange, I can give you something you desire."Corrupted Bargain Enchantment At the beginning of each player's upkeep, that player loses 3 life and adds . Until end of turn, they don't lose this mana as steps and phases end. "The deal was power in exchange for some of your blood. I never specified how much blood I would be taking."Designed using the guest system.
