At the edge of the river, a stranger's figure stands three meters tall. A pitch-black aura of mist seems to emanate from his pale skin, and it begins pouring into the stream, bringing with it the reek of black mana, darkness and corruption.Despite having his head almost entirely covered in a helmet, the creature sees Hyle as she appears, and begins to speak with his deep, hoarse, smoky voice."Greetings, my name is Malextros" he introduces himself "And I believe you have been interacting with a person I have a particular interest on finding. I may need your help with that, and in exchange, I can give you something you desire."Corrupted Bargain Enchantment At the beginning of each player's upkeep, that player loses 3 life and adds . Until end of turn, they don't lose this mana as steps and phases end. "The deal was power in exchange for some of your blood. I never specified how much blood I would be taking."Designed using the guest system. "Well, hello there." Despite her words, Hyle frowns and bares her teeth in a grimace. "Before you speak any further, I would request you get your influence away from this stream, or I, Hyle Seritani, shall be forced to take countermeasures."
Corrupted Bargain: An excellent game changer. Looks great, honestly. 10/10
Prepare for Battle Sorcery Put a +1/+1 counter on up to two target creatures you control. If you have less life than any opponent, search your library for a Soldier card, reveal it, then put it in your hand and shuffle your library.

Prepare for Battle: I fell in love with that last clause! The first part is missing "on each of up to two" but I cannot give this card less than a 10/10! "Ah, my apologies" he replies with obvious sarcasm and contempt. He forces the mist to recede and start to flow upwards into the sky instead, a small compromise and, besides, he got the information he needs from this Hyle. "Now let's talk business... I sense you've been interacting with a woman by the name of Aylin. She has something that interests me and I am not leaving this world until I obtain it. Care to tell me what you know about her?"Hellbent Determination Instant Creatures you control gain undying until end of turn. (When a creature with undying dies, if it had no +1/+1 counters on it, return it to the battlefield under its owner's control with a +1/+1 counter on it.) "I'm not leaving without my prize." -Malextros

This is different than with Vikalden, Hyle decides. That woman had not tried to mock her - or at least, she had dissimulated it; this one had stung her pride a little. And the way this planeswalker said he was going to stay until he got what he wanted... She perceived it as a threat, and answered accordingly. "I don't, actually. I feel no affection towards her. But you come here and poison the streams and the sky, offering me an empty, nebulous wish. I have no idea what you are capable of, but I do not care. There is nothing I desire from you. Should the High Builders ever wish to parley with you, I will be happy to act as an intermediary. But right now, I suggest you leave. This is no place for the likes of you."
Instant Choose one- Return target nonland permanent to its owner's hand. Destroy target creature that's attacking you.

Drive Away: for a second I skipped the "choose one" and was like "whoah, slow down there buddy" XD. Neat card, balanced cost, 9/10. "Oh, don't worry about this" he says, regarding the mist that emanates from his being "It's just a side effect of the powers that allow me to get here, you shouldn't worry, it won't poison you or anybody..."That is, physically he thinks with malice."As for these 'High Builders'" he continues "I would love to parley with them. That way I could help them strike peace with the Arm of Cruelty..." he pauses dramatically to study the mermaid's reaction "That is what you desire, right? Give me what I want, and I promise I can give that to you..."Demonic Compromise Sorcery Search your library for a card and put it into your hand, then shuffle your library. Each opponent may search their library for a card, shuffle their library and put that card on top of it. Malextros can make anything you desire come true... but his desires always come first.

Demonic Compromise: Nice. Maybe a bit strong with mill stuff, though. possibly to make it a smidge less splashable? 8/10 "You can barely parley with me, I doubt you could strike a deal with...", the mermaid begins to sound less confident, "those... savages..." Hyle realises she's making no sense, because the Arm of Cruelty would probably like this man. "And what would you offer them? Would you grant them any wish of their choosing, too? Hah." She nervously ruffles her hair with one hand. "Perhaps you might be of use, but... I can't decide on the behalf of the High Builders. I can't." She begins to sound distressed. "Why have they not made themselves heard again yet? Has something happened to them? Maybe I should leave. I should leave." A calm, vaguely feminine voice echoes lighthly through the place, not loudly, but reaching Hyle and Malextros' ears. "No. You must stay here longer. We insist." "Levya!", Hyle shouts. "I beg of you, answer me! What should I tell Malextros?" The voice is silent. Hyle's eyes grow closer to tears. "I can't", she repeats. "What are you still doing here?", she adds irritated.

Malextros smiles sadistically. "My apologies" he replies "I shall be on my way." He turns around and leaves, he won't be getting any more information from this mermaid, but the shadow of doubt has been planted inside her soul, and the fear that followed has triggered the dark emotions of her souls he so gladly feasted upon. "And remember, I shall not leave this place while my prize is here, so if you really want me gone, you might want to consider helping me, say, by distracting Aylin before I get to her. That would make our transaction go by faster..." he adds before he disappears with the dark mist.

"Hello, miss Seritani? My name is Reyhsia. I work with the 7CI, and act as Karina's... mentor. I have reason to believe that someone or something is targeting Karina. Just a few days before these incidents began, we received a letter from you that she seemed to be having hallucinations. Did you notice anything else at all out of the usual around the time of your meeting? This may have been the first actions of this entity, so any clues you have are extremely useful."Scerix, the Obsessive Legendary Creature - Spirit Whenever an opponent casts a spell, that player loses 2 life for each card in their graveyard with the same name as that spell. "Every killer has a tell. Sometimes you've got to learn them first hand."1/4 "An entity? Well, she was saying 'out' out lound even though no one was there... Show of Evidence Instant Reveal a nonland card from your hand. Target player reveals the top six cards of their library and puts each card that doesn't share a card type with the card you revealed into their graveyard, then you may put the rest on top or on bottom of that player's library.

Still holding the crownstone in her hands, Hyle began to talk. "Well, this river was attacked a couple of times. First came an earthquake, then its waters turned to ink. And not too long ago, the course was blocked by an anomalous mudslide. But I've kept it safe. There's apparently another river around here that has been troubled. It has some sort of guardian, though, so it's been fine as far as I know." What was his name? Hyle either forgot or never knew, she hadn't visited him yet. "But other than that... Oh, but I already told 7CI about that. Well, telling you can't do any harm. There was a child named Karina who at one point said "Out" out loud during a conversation despite the fact that no one else was there and then continued as though as that didn't happen. It's as if she was having hallucinations. Everything else I can think of...", she frowns, remembering Kirino in a bittersweet way, "...has already been resolved. There are a couple of people I would've liked you to look into", Vikalden, Amet, "but they haven't shown up here lately anymore. Although..." Malextros's attack, of course, "There's a woman here, named Aylin, who has been pursued by some sort of foul entity, named Malextros. A hideous manipulator. I don't know what the deal is between them, and Aylin might try to kill you, but if she doesn't, she might want you to track him down, or keep him away."

( is not a cost.)"I've got the sketches. It's a real bloody affair. Get the yarn ready, Wiltedstone."
Meant to synergise with the equip - and with the cigar granting haste to creatures with abilities.
EDIT - The cigar's a 10/10 by the way, feels balanced, has nice flavour

No worries - stuff happens! Woah, woah, lots of information. I took a pad out and scribbled notes down as she spoke, nodding along. When she finished, I took a breath. "Okay, so..." I took a deep breath and looked at my page, hastily filled out with my notes. "You say that there's been an earthquake, then inked waters, followed by a mudslide. There's another river with a cop, and Karina once said something strange - possibly hallucinations. And Aylin - I've met her, though she hasn't told me about any demons. But is that right, did I get everything?"
Hasty Scribbling Instant Exile the top two cards of your library. Until the end of your next turn, you may play those cards. "Woah, woah, slow it down, lady!"
Detective's Corkboard: Seems neat. Might be better suited as an enchantment than an artifact. Thing is, I think is a cost, as (Nonexistent mana costs can't be paid) leads me to believe that it is one. Though I get the premise, it might need a "nonzero cost" thing instead. Super flavor text though. 9/10.

9/10. Ooh, the nonzero wording is super clever, thanks. And I'm glad you liked the flavour text. It was a coloured artifact because MaRo mentioned they're going to do more of those in the future iirc, but maybe I didn't think it through well enough and made it too enchantment-y.
Hasty Scribbling: I feel like or might be enough here considering Light Up the Stage (yours is instant speed and lets you keep the cards longer, but doesn't have the upside of the spectacle, so I am not convinced it needs to cost a whole more). Pretty clean effect with neat flavour though. 9/10
"I think he's some sort of holy man, not a cop, but yes, everything else is right. The mudslide was much later than the inking of the waters, though, and I am not sure Malextros was a demon, though he was absolutely detestable. Now, it is true that we do not know each other well, but I must leave a good gift for a good memory. Would you like something other than this crownstone I'm holding? A pearl, perhaps?"
Warden of Pearls Creature - Merfolk Monk Whenever you or a teammate cast a spell, you may untap Warden of Pearls. 2/1
Note: no Warden physically appears before Rolt, it's an abstraction here.
EDIT - Added the "or a teammate" EDIT - Rarity upped to

Neottolemo I nodded. "Thanks. Those are some good leads, and I'll be following up on them soon." I said, feeling mildly annoyed at the insistence of a gift. I already had enough shit in my pockets. "Consider the information gift enough, merdame." I said, pretty proud of that name I came up with. "Now, I still have some other questions. Nothing grave, just some follow-up on another case. What do you know about an Aiden of Sunspear?" I asked, politely declining the physical gift again.Damn merfolk. She might have answers though - gotta play nice for now.Fragile Facade Enchantment Whenever a creature attacks you, it gets -2/-0 until end of turn. Whenever a creature attacks you, it's controller may pay . If they do, sacrifice ~. "Oh, please save me detective! You're my only hope!" - obviously fake feminine voiceWarden of Pearls: For a second I thought it didn't deal with my card until I remembered that a) gifts were a thing and b) they are pretty amicable (outwardly) for the moment, so no worries there. Ability feels fine, cost seems fine, could probably go for ? Overall though good card, I like the cast a spell then untap thing. Might want to prowess it though ( whenever you cast a noncreature spell...). 9/10.

I'm not sure I should still add a story blurb to this lol. Have a mechanics only response for now
Riot Control Elite Creature - Giant Soldier First strike
Players can't pay life or sacrifice permanents. 3/3

NeottolemoIn whatever body of water Hyle likely had found herself relaxing in at this time of day, they would begin to notice the water was flowing a bit faster. Bit by bit, the water was coalescing, forming into an orb, with shapes and lights visible beneath the surface. Almost as if forming from the captured fluid, a hulking being of plant-mass and water suddenly emerged from the water, redirecting the flow the body of water towards it! {Attack Card - Monsoon Elemental}

Almost as if forming from the captured fluid, a hulking being of plant-mass and water suddenly emerged from the water, redirecting the flow the body of water towards it! {Attack Card - Monsoon Elemental} Monsoon Elemental: Doesn't feel particularly from a mechanical point of view, but doesn't feel not either, and the flavour's pretty strong, so, like, 8/10
"This again? Levya's grace!" Hyle sighs. "I'm beginning to feel the slightest bit PEEVED." Hyle's left hand glows. She just kind of sort of reaches for the elemental and gives it a light shove. Though she put very little actual strength behind it, the spell contributes to imprinting a rotation, causing the elemental to spin in reverse and unravel.
Power of the Spin Instant Return target nonland permanent to its owner's hand. If another permanent that player controls left the battlefield but didn't die this turn, creatures you control can't be blocked this turn.

Neottolemo The elemental was nearly about to solidify when Hyle had reacted with her own magic. Unable to respond, the elemental could only thrash and moan, horribly loud, as it returned to the water it had disturbed. All was quiet for the moment, the water still as whatever magic that had conjured the thing dissipated, before a low clap echoed across the water. Standing somewhere she definitely hadn't been before, was a tall, pale figure. Eyes of amber, wings of midnight, and six...yes, six, arms, one pair of which was currently clapping at the display. "Interesting response. There is no need to prepare to fight, when there is nothing to fight."{Response Card - Spiteful Summon} Power of the Spin: Jojo reference for the win. Also bounce tribal sounds interesting conceptually. 10/10
