I showed up on the Arena in my usual fashion - messily and mildly drunk. Also sans pants - how was I supposed to know that she had a husband? Or, more pertinently, that he wasn't away with the army like she said he was?
I reached down and picked up a handful of dirt - a quick vitrification and a toss into the air, and it joined the rest of my cloud. Much better.
Now, to business.
Thrice-Empty Mattol has entered the Arena!

Lady MapiRudara had found herself on yet another of her walks around the Arena, out of sight from anyone she would not have revealed herself to, of course. The city was filled with people who would gawk, pray, or whisper in her presence, especially since it was far from the time to reveal herself to the masses. But out here, where there were few to no people to corroborate her existence, it was easy for Rudarah to allow herself to simply walk, and in some small sense, enjoy this small peace. To appreciate the realm she would command, given time. Oh, and perhaps meet another of those strangers that kept running into her. Even if they were sometimes a bother...they amused her. Most of the time, anyway. {Gift? Card - Unseen Path}

Actually, 'little' is exactly the wrong word for a nine-foot-tall multi-armed being, but I digress.
"Hey there, gorgeous, what are you doing out and about on a day like this? You're going to make the sun jealous."
A quick flick of my wrist, and I had a rose made out of delicate stained glass in my hand. I offered it to her with a flourish.Glass Rose - Artifact , : You may exchange control of Glass Rose and target noncreature spell. If you do, you may choose new targets for that spell. Unseen Path is a pretty competent combat trick - I like how there's a mode for attackers and a mode for blockers. I say that's a 9/10 right there.

Lady Mapi Rudarah looked from her surprise(but not really) encounter, to the rose in his hands. "No." With a wave of one of her hands, the rose crumbled into dust as Rudarah turned away from this one. She was not going to entertain whatever thoughts this one surely had in their head. (Feel free to follow her though ). {Spoiler} {Response Card - Refute}Refute Sorcery - Destroy target artifact. Draw a card. "No." Glass Rose: Like a perplexing Chimera, but for only noncreatures. Given the restriction, I'd say it's mostly fair, and a good politics card. Plus, it still has technical thorns. 10/10

"I guess you wouldn't want to sit for a stained glass window, eh Rudie?"
If Rudara looks behind her, Mattol has a circular pane of stained glass hanging behind his head. On it is a surprisingly good representation of her - regal, imposing, and entirely nude.Rapid Repurposing - Instant - Exile target artifact you control, then put an artifact card with an equal or lesser converted mana cost onto the battlefield from your hand or graveyard. "This'll do in a pinch."Refute is a pretty standard artifact smasher... but it's a cantrip in Red, so it gets my vote. I'm kind of amazed that there isn't already a Sorcery-speed Smash, to be honest. 9/10

Lady Mapi Rudarah had been planning to ignore them further, when they said her name, or a shortened, informal version of it. She was also prompted by the sound of glass shifting and clicking into place, so with an internal sigh, she turned to face whatever this mortal was up to. ... She was not amused to say the least. "No," was her response once more, her voice definitely louder this time, enough to wobble the glass and send cracks through it. {Response Card - Captured Echo} Captured Echo Enchantment - When Captured Echo enters the battlefield, choose a number. Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell with converted mana cost equal to the chosen number, sacrifice Captured Echo, then copy that spell. You may choose new targets for the copy. "Don't make me repeat myself." Rapid Repurposing: I'm not sure if I should compare this to Tinker or Trash for Treasure. Either way, I like the option for it to be in your hand. It's strictly less powerful, but I like the fact that didn't stop you. 10/10

It's strictly less powerful, but I like the fact that didn't stop you. 10/10 Rather than splintering like mundane glass, the offending pane sang with the reverberations of her voice. Then I spoke through it (a simple matter of playing with resonant frequencies), high, ethereal, and echoing.
"I see that you have no sense of humor. That really is a shame. Oh well - I'm sure we'll meet again." And with that, the glass splintered with an almighty shriek. A shriek precisely calibrated to vibrate iron to pieces.
Then I walked off without looking back.Refracting Rose - Artifact If a spell or ability would copy a spell, you may sacrifice Refracting Rose. If you do, copy that spell instead, and you may choose new targets for the copy. "You have a lot to learn about optics, kiddo."Captured Echo is a cute card, but I'm not entirely sure that it needs to be as complicated as it is. Still, the thought of playing it and naming 10 (or whatever) tickles me. An 8/10.

Lady MapiRudara 'hmmph'd, before turning away as well, setting off away from the offending person towards wherever her path would take her. She also did not look back. Refracting Rose: Niche enough for rare, cheap enough for the effect, good enough for it's effect, but it also prevents you from copying stuff with your current wording. I could see it for 3 and nabbing a single copy off of any copy effect. 9/10

Lady Mapi If Mattol had been expecting a response from Rudara after his latest stunt, it shouldn't have surprised him how quickly he was tracked down. What he had been up to was inconsequential when a finely armored knight had noticed him, and had immediately set himself in his direction. "You're coming with me, Mattol," the knight practically spat. A heavy arm had gripped the Mattol's, and this close it wasn't hard to spot a symbol of Rudara, almost lazily hidden beneath whatever symbol the knight was supposed to be wearing. It seemed her influence was growing by the day. {Attacking Card - Farfield Inquisitor}

"Look, you just needed to ask nicely. As it stands, I think I'll go... but I don't think I'll go quietly, if you understand my gist."

Lady MapiThe next part of this lovely scene was thankfully redacted, due to various insults, imagery, and a severe case of "what the fuck do I write here". In the end, Mattol would find himself on his way towards wherever Rudara was. And not in good terms. (Yes, feel free to bump me over on my side of things.) Traitor's Mantle: This screams to be a New Phyrexia card parodying Living Weapon, and I love it. should def cost more, as Traitorous Instinct costs more, and this gives you an artifact to boot. 7/10 for cost issues.

The vines shredded themselves as soon as they showed themselves. I strode over to the fox, condensing more knives out of my cloud.Simplicity's Edge - Legendary Artifact - Equipment Equipped creature has +2/+0 and vigilance. Equipped creature has " : Exile any number of activated or triggered abilities. Activate this ability only during combat." Equip oops i accidentally your triggers Corrosive Wind feels pretty... weird. I guess it's alright, given that you actually have to land hits? I feel like you could make the trigger free if you upped the cost to , but that's just a gut feeling. 8/10

"I surely must not. I didn't mean to come here in this state, actually, but..." More brief yet awkward silence. Hyle decides not to push on the Thrice-Empty issue so that Mattol won't push on the 'how did you get here then' issue.
"Safety in numbers, that's right." Hyle goes to the cottage door, passes a hand through her hair absentmindedly (which might or might not shake some dirt that may or may have not stuck to it), puts on an embarassed smile in the hopes it'll make Hanska feel more at ease when she sees it, and knocks three times.
Gird for Battle: Ooh, I like this. Combining equipment attaching to power boosts is a neat idea. Equipment needs to be capitalised but this is pretty cool. 10/10
Amphibian Visitor Creature - Frog Flash
When Amphibian Visitor enters the battlefield, creatures you don't control get -2/-0 until end of turn.
2/2
The door swung open - it wasn't even locked. The cottage was entirely empty.
"Are you sure she lives here?"Artist's Primacy - Instant - The player whose turn it is gains control of target spell. They may choose new targets for that spell. (No way in hell I worded that properly... but eh.) Amphibian Visitor might be a little too good for a common - I'd be happier to see it at uncommon. 8/10"The inside of the cottage looks the same... And the monument is still there." Hyle pauses for a moment. "Last time I crossed this door without her permission, bad things happened." Oh by Steirun's needles let's hope he doesn't ask follow up questions. "I'm leaving. I'm not going in, Mattol. I'll be looking for a place to store her gift and wait for her to come to me instead. Goodbye."
Artist's Primacy: getting to mind control flash creatures permanently is interesting but a heavy, heavy bend. I feel like it'd be better if it gave you control up until the beginning of its owner's next end step if it was a creature, but I have no idea how to word that, and might make things too complex. Still, this needs some more looking at. 6.5/10
Instant Return target spell or nonland permanent to its owner's hand. Shuffle it into its owner's library instead if it or one of its abilities was targeting you or a spell or a permanent you control.

"Fair enough - some people are just plain picky about their privacy. I hope to see you around."
I paused for a moment.
"A monument? Didn't know the Arena had those. What does it commemorate?"Hall of Mirrors - Legendary Artifact If a permanent would be shuffled into its owner's library, put it on the bottom of that player's library instead. That player reveals cards from the top of their library until they reveal a card that shares a card type with that permanent. Then they put that card onto the battlefield and the rest on the bottom of their library in a random order. , : Each player shuffles a permanent they control into its owner's library. Turn Around is a very interesting design. 10/10(Your avatar appears to be broken, by the way.)

You mean this whole time you couldn't see the glory of this shrunken down screencap of Van-Pires 1x11 Revel Without a Car and no one warned me about it before!? Tsk, tsk! Thanks mate. I'll attempt to fix it later.
Hall of Mirrors: That's a lot of chaos. I approve. 10/10
Hyle speaks out her next sentences slowly. This was going to be kind of awkward, she thought, but cast the thought aside. "It's a memorial. She was Kirino Oblay. We only met twice. Our first meeting was very pleasant." Yet tinged by sadness as well. Hyle had felt something she perceived as sadness and good intentions within Kirino. Kirino had said she was looking for a place that wasn't worth protecting, yet wanted to belong somewhere peaceful. Hyle decided she wasn't going to tell Mattol. That was private for now. More private than what happened afterwards. "But after that, at some point, she..." What words could she possibly use? "... transcended. Not like a planeswalker ascends. She became..." Divine. A goddess. Why not say it? "...something more. I..." Was forced to attack her? "...didn't feel threatened by her. But I extinguished a debt of honour by attacking her a single time. Of course, it was pointless. Then I just left. My part was done. I don't know what happened after that. But she's there now. I guess her life ended that day somehow."
Hyle Seritani spent 1 skill point to unlock Planeswalker Mastery!
Legendary Planeswalker - Hyle : You gain 1 life and scry 1. : You get an emblem with "As long as you control exactly one creature, that creature gets +2/+1 and has lifelink and indestructible." : Choose a creature. Destroy all other creatures, then take an extra turn after this one. Skip that turn's untap step. At the beginning of that turn's end step, you lose the game.
The loyalty emojis are tiny so to be clear: +1, -4, -7, 5.
It's pretty amusing to me that this card could also work basically the exact same for Hyle and Hanska to be fair but I don't think seeking a way around that would be wise, she just likes divine and divine-adjacent beings who are nice to her (see: her title being "Friend to the High Builders"), that's what she does. Apologies in advance for the colour pie experimentality.

I cannot see the glorious vanpires .
I stopped. It took all my self-control to keep my rage in check at the sound of that fucking name.
"Kirino Oblay was here? Do you know who ended up killing her?" And did they do a thorough enough job? And what was this about 'ascension'? Concerning...
I fought myself down until I could give her a smile. "If it wouldn't be too much trouble... could you show me where this monument is?"Monument to Solitude - Artifact - As long as you control exactly one creature, you can't lose the game and your opponents can't win the game. Hyle, One Believer is a really neat design, and I love it. 10/10
