Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our five-hundred and sixth challenge! The winner of the "Spark Interest" poll was BunBunGun with...And the challenge issued by our winner was... Taking the winning entry/Shatee as a starting point, design a card that would fit into this plane:This plane got devastated by a conflict between past civilisations now long gone. Rage, strife, envy and confusion was the spark that set the fire ablaze and burned down almost everything that was established prior to this global conflict. After all was turned to rubbles and no party was victorious, the plane went into a phase of primal forces, where savage animals were the prime predators of this new world order. The "humanoid" survivors kept a low profile and mainly tried to survive with some of their inventions of the past, also banded together as one because of the harsh environment. What an irony. After centuries, evolution and change, life shifted and the primal side of nature was the victor and law on this world. Intellect got developed, but technology is mostly found in form of rotten artifacts with a lot of malfunctions (if functions even exist in the first place) or in a more primitive forms. Nature and its primal elementals are unbalanced and unstable, power structures are ever shifting and never exist for a long time. One day a savage storm floods a valley, just to become a desert avoid of all live a month or two later. Then suddenly a mountain grows out of nowhere some time later, just to become grinded to dust by harsh winds and earthquakes. Different tribes of –WHATEVER-- fight over territory, causing uproars in the wild elemental side of things who aren't very fond of their work getting disturbed. And their short temper shows. And in the middle of it are the humanoid survivors that build their own society on relics and trinkets, accompanied by some of the elemental forces they befriended. But don't get on their bad side. Well, on some of them at least. You never know if their trust in you is mutual or not. To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

So, a few things are known about this set: - The world is "primal", largely taken over by the natural world in a presumably earlier and more savage form, with the remnants of civilization being largely non-functional ruins and objects, plus a few united small communities (tribes perhaps?) with a small amount of order among them, relying on elemental allies and old artifacts. - Speaking of elementals, the unstable elements also seem to be major players here. - It's unknown how colors are divided - perhaps humanoids are white and blue, the rest being wild and elementals more dispersed, or perhaps focused on red and green - though the version I will tackle is all factions in all colors, more akin to the mirrodin vs phyrexia conflict back in scars, where you distinguished them by a watermark. - Mechanics are likewise also unknown, but given the planeswalker is the starter, +1/+1 counters might be a part of it, green may have saproling synergies, and if there are color divisions it's likely alongside allied pairings. Given this, I would suggest it's likely the set overall would feature less artifacts, and perhaps have a bigger focus on auras / enchantments. All of this is just my interpretation. Honestly when I read the description it kind of almost sounded like a world without white, possibly without blue too. There's also some clear similarities in overall situation to Ikoria, though I wanted to avoid leaning on that too much in my personal attempt to tackle the challenge of a what blue primal would be like.

First of all, I like Idea 's summary. Landfall and Proliferate could be taken from the given planeswalker as well – might just be interprated as one-offs for the set's plane instead though. I wanted to focus on this part however: Nature and its primal elementals are unbalanced and unstable, power structures are ever shifting and never exist for a long time. One day a savage storm floods a valley, just to become a desert avoid of all live a month or two later. Then suddenly a mountain grows out of nowhere some time later, just to become grinded to dust by harsh winds and earthquakes. I instantly got reminded of mechanics like Crop Rotation / Harrow, with the latter having received a Spellshaper version a while ago. However, since that „while ago“ was in Planar Chaos, it's a colorshifted version obviously – whereas one in the original color doesn't yet exist till this day. So while it might not be the most creative since it's pretty much just a colorshift backwards, here's my entry nethertheless:
@ sdfkjgh : Big thanks for the catch - updated render!

Hello everyone! I am a total newcomer to the MSE forums, but I was reading some of the past few weeks for this contest and it looked like a lot of fun, so I wanted to give it a shot. Here's my entry, something simple but hopefully interesting. It looks like a lot of you guys have some amazing sources for your art. Do you have any tips for finding them? I feel like I'd have a hard time finding something that fits most of my ideas...

I feel like I'd have a hard time finding something that fits most of my ideas... Hello there and welcome to the forums! I hope you have a great time here and best of luck As for your question, there are some normal sites a lot of people use, artstation being the one that comes to mind the most. Personally, I also make use of deviantart and pixiv art, though less frequently. Pinterest does also have a lot of neat stuff, but it can be tricky to track down the real source. There's also been a recent uptick in people using AI images. And just in case, here's the art sourcing premier for when you find an image you like but not sure of the source of, which may also help you find other places. A small tip though, be flexible in the kind of art you have in mind. Even with the best sources it's likely you'll have a hard time with a lot of things you may have in mind in terms of finding art. A bit of creativity and a splash of flavor text can go a long way to making less than ideal art still come together in what you're trying to represent

I feel like I'd have a hard time finding something that fits most of my ideas... Love how this is a permanent mirror of the suspends that resuspend themselves with 3 counters! Edit: For art, I have tended to use AI for some time now. Mostly because I design a lot of my cards with a specific visual in mind, and I don't like to compromize (some of the art has taken me way too long to generate, I must admit; I've given up on card designs that I couldn't generate art for). However, I do occasionally have something like, "Oh, I want a fierce warrior in action," and then I tend to browse some of the sites that Idea mentioned. My favorites are deviantart and artstation. Then when I find an art that inspires me, I design the mechanics around it a bit. Just different approaches to design.

@ nataliregonat : Welcome to the forum - do you speak English? I removed your previous comment since this is a forum game thread and not really the best place for an Introduction. Also I do feel a bit awkward right now as I'm unsure whether you're a bot or not considering how you posted here would fit, the content however not so much - so if you are a real person, feel free to post again in our introduction area
EDIT: Ok, apparently a bot indeed xD

Who wouldn't want retribution on someone destroying their hard work? Personal anecdote: I once had a garden when i was a teen, some girl thought i was trying to flirt with her boyfriend, she destroyed my garden. so i know how hard it is too see something you've spent years working on be destroyed. Side Note: Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
