Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our four-hundred and eighty-fourth challenge! The winners of the "Uno Reverse!" poll were Flo00, Idea, melono, pernicious, spazlaz and viriss (in order of showing) with...And the challenge issued by one of our winners was... Lorwyn/Shadowmoor with some sort of dual-faced day/night mechanic.Clarification: You may use the original mechanic or come up with something new! To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

viriss so to be clear does the mechanic itself have to be double-faced (meaning it pertains to a property of double-faced cards like transform) or does the card have to be double-faced with a day/night-based mechanic that may or not be related to being a double-faced card?

Banlaz, Daystrider Legendary Planeswalker — Banlaz | Ginat, Nightstalker Legendary Creature — Merfolk Rogue | When Banlaz, Daystrider enters the battlefield, it becomes day. : Target Kithkin you control gets +1/+1 until end of turn. If it’s day, it gets +2/+2 until end of turn instead. : You gain half X life, rounded up, where X is the number of Kithkin you control. If it’s day, you gain X life instead.
| When Ginat, Nightstalker enters the battlefield, it becomes night. , : Put a -1/-1 counter on target creature. If it’s night, put two -1/-1 counters on that creature instead. ( is the untap symbol.) |

Kithkin planeswalker, anyone? The concept boils down to "Hey, let's make it an MDFC with all of Lorwyn's mechanics on one side and all of Shadowmoor's on the other." As a result, the front side is a planeswalker (as they first appeared in Lorwyn) with Kithkin tribal support (as the tribal type also first appeared there), while the back side uses the untap symbol (introduced in Shadowmoor), has a hybrid mana cost (popularized by Shadowmoor), and uses -1/-1s for good measure. Additionally, in keeping with the challenge, each side's abilities are stronger depending on whether it's day or night.

Have we ever had a 6-way tie before? I feel like this might actually be a first.

So a little bit back I made this dayrise/nightfall entry for the set theme game challenge. In it I also went into a small bit of speculation about a potential Lorwynn-Shadowmoor that takes into consideration the conclusion of the previous story which saw the two aspects of the plane fused back together after Oona's defeat. We know that there is now a full day/night cycle but things no longer transform, instead we have a mix of Lorwynn and Shadowmoor races. Here's the catch though: We know that people in Lorwynn and Shadowmoor where in fact not different people but different versions of the same people, transformed. As a result when the worlds fused it's not like there's more people, it's that some are stuck in their Lorwynn versions and others in their Shadowmoor versions (though in the case of giants this doesn't make a ton of difference). There are two major exceptions here. One is the faeries which previously retained their memories and so where unchanged either way. The second according to my speculation there were the changelings, whose transformative nature and abilities led me to think they would better blend their two versions together. Dayrise and Nightfall are a day/night mechanic with built-in removal of the tracking once they are gone, to address one of the chief complaints regarding daybound/nightbound. It also doesn't dictate a transformation, but some cards receive bonuses based on it being day or night.

Edit: After sleeping on it, creating three 0/1s felt a little too good. Lowering to two.

According to my winner's list, this is the second time it ever happened. The only previous time was CotW #292 as can be seen here (not linking the poll itself since apparently I didn't lock it properly and a vote or two got in after the deadline )..
Also back to the drawing board - I had thought of a card featuring the classic day/night mechanic without having it or being double sided itself

This was one I designed in my sleep, way back in early '21: Glen Elendra Gatewardens Creature--Faerie Soldier Flash Flying Whenever you cast a spell with mana value of 6 or greater, you may transform Glen Elendra Gatewardens. 2/3 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oona's Royal GuardCreature--Faerie Soldier Rogue Flying At the beginning of your upkeep, you lose 1 life and create a 1/1 black Faerie Rogue creature token with flying. Oona’s Royal Guard’s power and toughness are each equal to the number of Faerie permanents you control. */* Basically Sentinels of Glen Elendra with upside/ Bitterblossom with upside.

Actually, I do have an idea to change my entry into a double-sided one. Calling dibs on a "Soul of Lorwyn // Soul of Shadowmoor" card
But for this, I'd need some artwork help: I've stumbled across this art I totally love and would want to use - but I'd need a fitting counterpart in style for the Lorwyn side.. Any suggestions anyone?

@ Idea : Yes, big thanks - that second one is perfect! She even has her arms in a similar gesture.. OK, just the text version for now as I'm not on my own pc, but render to be added later: {original text version} Soul of Lorwyn Creature - Avatar When Soul of Lorwyn enters the battlefield, it becomes day. It can’t become night. When Soul of Lorwyn dies, return it to the battlefield transformed under its owner’s control at the beginning of the next end step. (It returns as Soul of Shadowmoor.)6/6 Soul of Shadowmoor Creature - Avatar When Soul of Shadowmoor enters the battlefield, it becomes night. It can’t become day. When Soul of Shadowmoor dies, return it to the battlefield under its owner’s control at the beginning of the next end step. (It returns as Soul of Lorwyn.)6/6 EDIT: Now with render
