Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! The winner of the "2023? Soon(TM)." poll was Daij_Djan with... And the challenge issued by our winner was... This is my third win in a row – wow, big thanks for everyone whom voted for my designs these past few weeks. Inspired by this, I'll offer you all a tricky challenge: Design a cards with an ability / effect that requires exactly three targets. No „ up to three“ stuff, no  -spells where X could be 3, or similar. It needs to have exactly three targets. For example: Violent Ultimatum would obviously work. Pulsemage Advocate doesn't since its ability needs four targets. In contrast Combo Attack also fulfills the challenge.
Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Choose three target creatures in a sequence. Each of those creatures deal damage equal to their power to the next creature in the sequence (The last creature in the sequence deals damage equal to its power to the first creature in the sequence.)

It's basically Three-way Fight, although I'm not sure if this is the best wording; like it's technically correct, but is it grockable, does it work.
I'd love some ideas for better names. Some art help for this one would also be appreciated, 'cause, artStation wasn't any help and I'm not putting "three-way" into deviantArt.

hydraheadhunter I know it's a little different from what your card actually depicts, I think searching for "Mexican Standoff" can obtain the best art for the scenario.  (Mexican Standoff, Illus. Rowan Dodds, ArtStation) Also, if Mexican Standoff or Three-way Fight/Dance is what you're going for, it's actually hard to translate it into Magic terms. My take would be: "Choose three target creatures. Each of those creature deals damage equal to its power to each other creature chosen this way.", which is ALMOST a "destroy three creatures" spell (unless you would defend that green creatures can be big enough to survive).

hydraheadhunter They are not suitable for a card image though, I want to introduce them from Bell Starr my favorite manga. And how about Death Triangle for the name? My post, Kongming, was originally very similar to your one. He let creatures controlled by each other player to tri-fight. The text I thought to use was like below: Choose three target creatures. The first deals damage equal to its power to the second. Samely the second does to the third, the third does to the first.

After pondering for inspiration (since ironically I had no idea what to do for my own challenge as well  ), I came across these cards - so it's time to expand a cycle: {Outdated balancing} Incremental Protection   Sorcery  Put a shield counter on target creature, two shield counters on another target creature, and three shield counters on a third target creature. (If a creature with a shield counter on it would be dealt damage or destroyed, remove a shield counter from it instead.)(No render yet since I'm not at my computer right now)After some pondering, I decided to go with the fitting cast to expand the cycle and keep the powerlevel nonbroken   |

I'm guessing that's the reason why he's been moved into a Faraday cage? Ral: Yeah, after the debacle of that penile reattachment surgery in the O.R. right above his former room, they felt they had to implement some additional security measures. Who would've guessed that patient was a grand wizard of the kkk? Ral: I know, right? It's not like they put that shit on your driver license; " WARNING: I am a racist asshole!" seems like a slam-dunk discrimination case for the ACLU. And what strange bedfellows that case would make! sorry for the delay - I've been struck down by the flu or something similar (no Covid though) which is why there was no new challenge yet. Since it's already Wednesday and I'll be crawling back to sleep in a few minutes already, I don't think there'll be much point in starting the next challenge so late into the week. For each permanent that dies this way, its controller creates a 3/3 green Elephant creature token. Pretty sure this'd be mono- now. |
