Positive Reinforcement Enchantment Whenever you gain life, add . Spend this mana only to cast an Aura spell. A good attitude is its own reward.

Doing this one too now, so an actually new challenge can be made after. {Spoiler}{Spoiler} sdfkjgh - Remnant of Heliod: Spear jokes aside, I do not see the whiteness of the card except for it being an enchantment and referencing a white character with white pips. Also, currently, pure enchantments do not tap. Idea - Radion: The white feel of everyone getting the mana, just like all draw, is fitting, but if that’d get actually printed I sincerely doubt. The exile effect fits and makes it a more fitting commander, though you could probably word it more succinctly and just exile all and return all, without specifically mentioning Radion going to its controller instead of its owner. moweda - Positive Reinforcement: Really enjoy this one. Name is great, mana limited to aura’s is very white, and life creating the mana is also so white. Quite white. {Spoiler}{Spoiler} Winner is: moweda who’s card I see in a very positive light.

I think the ping probably worked, but at the time I probably forgot because I was still under a lot of jetlag. But alright, to get things moving: Design a control spell (as in a spell that gains control of a permanent, usually creatures) that (under the modern color wheel) isn't blue AND red, does not swap permanents and meets one of the following three conditions of your choice: - Is neither blue nor red (bonus points for this one)
- Temporary (until end of turn) blue control
- Permanent red control

At first I wanted to do something simple like this: but then I got a really weird stupid idea to try something MH2 Incarnation style now and this is where I'm at. I hope this is interesting lol. Thief's Transmutation Instant Gain control of target artifact spell. (It enters the battlefield under your control.)Equivalent Exchange - You may instead cast this spell for by exiling two artifact cards from your hand. "Let us resmelt the rich's gold baubles as sculptures all may admire!" - Arven Tadrook The type for Equivalent Exchange is generally expected to be the same type as card the spell was supposed to remove/create.

There are a few black control cards, so I think this totally is a black thing: Rotten Dominion Instant Gain control of target creature with mana value X or less. You lose X life.

Claim for the Grave Sorcery Target creature gets -X/-X until end of turn. When that creature dies this turn, return it to the battlefield tapped under your control. It's a Zombie in addition to its other creature types. "Welcome to the ranks of the dead!"

Daij_Djan{Spoiler}Historical examples of this are pretty old in Conquer and Annex, in red and blue respectively. That being said, it does make sense to have it on green over those other colors (maybe except blue), since green is the main "land matters color". Changing it into a forest also helps to bridge this gap and to prevent you from stealing something with a big gamebreaking effect. I think a card like this would be an interesting addition to the game as perhaps tech against certain land-based combos, and in terms of balance on one hand getting a forest doesn't seem like a lot for four mana, but getting to reduce your opponent's mana by one and increase yours by one in this way could potentially even require something more expensive. It would need playtesting. Either way, very solid entry. melono{Spoiler}It's very obscure but I guess technically it's possible to word that effect as "stops attacking" if we go with the oracle on General Jarkeld. I think it would have untapped, removed it from combat, then given you control. I think forcing one of the opponent's creatures to block for you is a little white, probably one of those darker versions of white such as ones associated with an Orzhov pair or phyrexian, but point s it can work. I do think white mechanically would probably do something like this by exiling it and putting it under your control, then giving control to your opponent, with maybe a clause to not trigger ETB abilities. Definitely wordier and more complicating, but in my eyes a more white way of making the effect. Still, a neat card and good entry though. ZephyrPhantom{Spoiler}While targeting an artifact specifically is fitting for red, and its certainly not unheard of for red to take permanent control of artifacts even without blue, red tends to get more specific kinds of effects in terms of interfering with spells, namely redirecting them or more commonly copying instants or sorceries. This card is pretty much baking two or even three blue effects into a red card, the permanent control, counterspell and cloning permanents. Now other than the first one that was the challenge it's not completely doing the other two, just a bit too close in my impression of the card, but it could still conceivably be red, just as quite a stretch in my eyes. Contrary to probable expectations though this is to say I am much more of a fan of the second attempt than your initial idea, and reasons are twofold. For one stealing control of a permanent permanently at red for just one more than doing so until end of turn is a lot less reasonable than getting a whole 3 mana increase (where blue would be controlling any kind of nonland permanent) and being able to discount itself with a red-fitting reckless price that leaves you with overall no card advantage. Flo00{Spoiler}Yep, I am aware black's gotten control in the past and hence why I emphasized the modern color wheel, though upon checking it is true black is tertiary in creature stealing. I think the card in concept is good, though I think it's too efficient. Even disregarding how often life is treated as disposable in practice, this card by mana cost and effect is arguably stronger than some blue equivalents at the same or higher rarity, like the dominate you mentioned or entrancing melody. Even if this is a smaller bend on the color wheel I do think it should be less not more efficient than those, generally speaking. serraphim{Spoiler}Neat land destruction with pseudo-temporary control that's actually technically permanent. Not the biggest fan of land destruction but this is certainly a very clever design for this challenge. vizionarius{Spoiler}For just an extra this card is a sorcery-speed Death Wind or a Battle at the Bridge without improvise or life gain. Like Flo00's entry is priced equivalent to some blue control cards that have the "control a creature with mana value X" effect, though I think it's a lot fairer to maintain efficiency on this one since it's employing pretty much exclusively black effects. At first I thought maybe it should have some condition like Black Sun's Twilight, but thinking about it needing to pay enough to off the creature probably makes up that condition. As for insurance, it enters tapped. Winner {Spoiler} serraphim and Daij_Djan had pretty similar concepts to work with, but I think ultimately serraphim 's disguising of a distinctly red effect with "language" of the blue effect, fitting the requirements of the contest while keeping the card functioning in a more traditionally in-color manner in practice, is such clever design (and nevertheless kept simple) that I have to give serraphim the win. The runner up is Daij_Djan who still had a clean and solid design, and vizionarius right after.

@ Idea: Small clarification (since your judging sounds like you missed this): My card wasn't really a new design, it was just an "Aura-shifted" , slightly powered down (since at higher rarity, can be disenchanted and I made it not hit basics) Mwonvuli Acid-Moss
Will definitely ponder about an entry for the new challenge!

Seeing as Daij has his hands full and I've got a moment: Idea - Now this is an interesting lockpiece. I think it's very interesting that the two abilities effectively force decks playing small creatures to pay the tax, meaning that this is very specifically set up again burn and small creature decks. I don't know how much you intended for this to be a Red hate piece but I think it does that well without being blunt about it - it has a clear place in some hypothetical Standard without being impossible to deal with in other formats. Overall it reminds me a lot of a semi-common Green style of hate design that has persisted throughout the years of Magic seen in things like Gaea's Revenge, Witchstalker, but more well done since it didn't actually need to name a color or type to protect against. vizionarius - Fairly straightforward shift that also happens to fit the "Red burns someone conditionally with an enchantment this set" design style. I don't think there's much else to be said about it, it seems fairly costed and I think 2 damage is the right value. fluffydeathbringer - Interesting that this is relatively soft enchantment hate, I'm not sure if that was intended but it is something to point out. Seems like a decent legendary and Commander to punish spellslinger decks that can't land permanent lockpieces or mana sinks they can otherwise put their mana into. Daij_Djan - Nice set of flavorful mechanics put together into an efficient hatebear package. I'm sure some Goblin decks would run this the moment it was printed in their sideboards. pernicious - I really like this even though it's just a Ghostly Prison flipped on its head. Red does indeed get conditional can't blocks and I feel like the flavor helps really sell it as something you can play with for interesting results in a deck, even if the design itself is straightforward. If you had snuck this into Planar Chaos and I wasn't paying attention I might've assumed it belonged there. melono - I like the idea of adding mana burn back in in this limited fashion but I have trouble suspending my disbelief that this mechanic could be bled into Green especially when Blood Moon and similar hate pieces shut off this kind of stuff in Red. I feel like making it Red and having it burn unless you payed 1 or something similar would've felt better, especially since the context of the challenge is to bend from a typically White mechanic. Flo00 - Straightforward design but I like how the tax is one-sided so that offers a distinct reason to run it instead of Collector Ouphe. Idea wins for making a plausible bend/break that still feels very in-color, with Daij_Djan and pernicious as runner ups in no particular order.

Thank you for the win ZephyrPhantom ! "Punisher"-style effects (Opponent chooses one: thing X happens or thing Y happens.) ( Think browbeat, book burning or Breaking Point) are technically in red's pie according to the 2021 Mechanical Color Pie article. So, let's make some punisher effects in white, blue or green!

Lost Rage Instant Exile target attacking creature unless its controller puts two stun counters on it. If they do and that creature would deal damage this turn, prevent that damage and you gain life equal to its power times the number of stun counters on it.
