Flo00 {Spoiler}A very fitting choice, I quite enjoy the flavor here. I wasn't sure about the effect of the Grail there as life-gain and indestructible to a single creature each turn feels not enough for a legendary reward for seeing a Saga through to completion, even at just three mana. After looking things up, until end of turn repeated indestructible is a lot rarer than I thought, with one of the few instances of it not being a trade of card advantage (i.e. sacrificing something for indestructible) or more conditional being Deathless Angel, though that is a 7 mana card (most of the cost though probably went to being a 5/7 flyer). Either way though, still doesn't seem like a lot. The card has a bit of an issue of not doing anything when it comes into the battlefield, meaning it could easily become a wasted turn or just lack the impact to make a difference in a lot more situations. Considering the third chapter, I'm also not sure if it shouldn't have been until the end of the opponent's turn. vizionarius {Spoiler}I have to wonder if this was inspired by the What Do You Do? contest. Either way, I like this card. I can see the progression and also the synergy between its abilities, including the mirroring on the front and back side. It's nice how to Saga effects flow into one another, supporting them, and even onto the enchantment. viriss {Spoiler}This artifact is not legendary, which technically doesn't meet the prompt, but I won't reject this because I only just noticed myself. I find it odd you have rules text for the food counter, a more common mechanic, over that of a creature type counter that I'm not sure is even a thing in official MTG. I think this comes surprisingly close to balanced, with Predator, Flagship as a reference. Winner {Spoiler}The winner this time will be vizionarius with a great marriage of flavor, simple yet effective mechanics that flow into each other in the Saga and artifact and which have great synergy.

Thanks! It was actually mostly inspired by Flo00's design. Glad you liked it! Next: Design an artifact with the Blood subtype.

Sample of The Great Kami Artifact - Blood ~ enters the battlefield with a divinity counter on it. , remove a divinity counter from ~: You gain 7 life. Until end of turn, you can’t lose the game. , , discard a card, sacrifice ~: Draw a card. If ~ had a divinity counter on it, you may instead search your library for a Spirit card, reveal it and put it into your hand, then shuffle.

Blood-Collecting Reservoir Artifact Creature - Construct Blood Bloodthirst 1 ( If an opponent was dealt damage this turn, this creature enters the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it.) Lifelink , , Discard a card, Sacrifice this artifact: Draw a card. It collects the small droplets forgotten by its vampire masters.0/1 I changed PT so it's a new submission

FeedbackIdea : Interesting use of divinity counter here, but I think it's a little overpowered as a colorless artifact that has the potential to be recurred and re-used to search and prevent you from losing. I think the gain 7 and prevent loss wasn't needed for it to be a good card. melono : This is great! Didn't think I'll see a creature, but the flavor is spot-on! Resultmelono wins with a cool, clean card that has a ton of flavor.

Thanks for the win! Next up, we're back in black! Create an artifact that has a black identity (and no other color).

Track Pillager Artifact Creature - Rogue Whenever a fast creature or Vehicle attacks you or a planeswalker you control, put a -1/-1 counter on it unless its controller exiles three cards from their graveyard. (Creatures and Vehicles with double strike, first strike, flash or haste are fast.)2/3 Kind of a hate bear, except its not a bear. Hate minotaur?

Yeah, I’ll just judge this one as well, get it over with. {Spoiler} Flo00 - Track Pillager: you might want to alter the rules text to mention only creatures, as attacking vehicles are already creatures. Fast is a reasonable keyword, but it sure does need its reminder text. Just like historic (in my opinion). It’s a good hatebear ability. And the name does line up with it. Cool card, but might be more of an uncommon with how limiting it can be for attacking. Don’t want it to be drafted that much, as it does stack. viriss - Essence Altar: A better Pitiless Plunderer, only limited by it creating tapped treasures. Which does mean it can’t go as infinite. But still, a creature card from anywhere into your graveyard can absolutely go nuts. And it not being a creature works in its favor as it doesn’t get removed as easily. Strong as heck. Make it a rare. Idea - Channelstone of Vitality: A good 3-mana manarock. Because it gives two colored mana. The -1/-1 counters is something that can’t go in every deck though, and makes it not as good in the beginning of the game if you don’t have proper set-up yet. But built around it, it’s a huge boon, and otherwise during draft and the like, it’s a proper boon. Daij_Djan - Mysterious Hearse: Unlicensed Hearse, the black version. It’s probably quite a bit less strong as it doesn’t go against selfmill-strategies like the Unlicensed Hearse, but it is still an interesting and reasonably powered hate-card that goes in some side-boards. It being one mana really helps it. thaneofglamis - Accursed Instrument//Instrument of Torture: Funny how it’s the flipside that gives it its identity. Neat. For the card’s abilities, it’s an expensive slow drainer, that becomes a pretty alright creature. The lifelink helps keep the creature doing the same as the purely artifact side. Jartis - The Widow: A bit too good imo, because the monarch is always such a contested piece. It really makes attacking slow down to a crawl, as anyone that attacks the monarch except you gets shafted. And in a 1v1, it means that whenever you are hit while you are the monarch, you get to destroy a creature, and maybe another one as you take it back. The idea is absolutely great and flavorful, but I’m afraid the gameplay effects it has is less than fun. vizionarius - Spinelatch Cobra: Very rarely would one cast this for it’s not-prototype cost. Only in the very endgame when you’ve got mana to burn. Deathtouch isn’t needed on a big body. And the reconfigure makes it so the power of the creature side becomes even more trivial. Winner: {Spoiler} Alright, that was some good black cards people. But now the winner: Imma go with Flo00 with second being Daij_Djan

Thanks for the win melono! The wording comes from my internal rule "whenever I use fast, it references 'creatures and Vehicles'". Which - you are right - doesn't make much sense here. Next challenge: Make an artifact with at least two noncreature subtypes!

Alright, so I decided to scrap my original entry and change it up to a new one since I couldn't get it to make sense and work within the rules in a way that wouldn't require no longer meeting the prompt. So I shifted to a different concept, but I will leave the finished (albeit not prompt meeting) version of the other entry in a spoiler. {Spoiler}

Planning on judging in about 40 68 hours. {boxlaunch}Nice "egg" type artifact. Simple and falvorful too (pun intended).
{Idea}A curse that can also be attached to a creature at the same time? Interesting idea. Might get a bit confusing and the rules probably don't suppport this, but I'm totally ok with that. I think it's a bit of a bummer, that the curse doesn't do anything on its own without a medium. It's kind of like "enchant player" is an abbreviation for "When ~ enters the battlefield, choose a player." You could actually enchant yourself with this without any disadvantages. I do like the power reduction for speed. It combines good with the other ability and also works good on its own if you have a big enough creature.
{melono}Mhh, yum. Could use some maple syrup or whipped cream since it's quite a dry delicacy. Jokes aside, simple and good card. I can see this as an interesting draft card in the right environment.
{vizionarius}Haha, I like it. One more land for the mana-packed Urza's mana base.
All really nice entries. Funny how most of you went for simplicity.

Thanks for the win! Now to do something kind of opposite: Create me a "Tribal" artifact! Which means, create a non-creature artifact card that has a creature subtype. It is not necessary to give the artifact the -Tribal- supertype if you do not find it fitting for your card!
