The winner of the "Cabin Fever" poll was Daij_Djan with...  And the challenge issued by me was... I recently discovered how to combine Scryfall's search and their random card option, so why not (ab)use my new knowledge for this week's CotW challenge? It works like this: By clicking here, you'll get a random common permanent card (basic lands are excluded automatically) – obviously let us know what you got  Then, design a legendary rare or mythic version of your random common.Have fun, everyone!

Didn't expect to get such a recent creature: Naiad of Hidden Coves. Edit: Sudden inspiration, this might be cheating a little bit. But I was thinking of a way to upgrade Naiad to a Theros god who would fit into the existing archetype of Izzet flash that was part of TBD limited. And realized who else would be the god of Izzet flash but Keranos himself. Keranos Thunder-Struck    Legendary Enchantment Creature - God  Indestructible As long as your devotion to blue and red is less than seven, Keranos isn’t a creature. Whenever you cast your first spell during each opponent’s turn, counter up to one target spell with lesser converted mana cost. 6/4 Sorry for not making something resembling the Naiad, I designed more in line with the archetype as whole than upgrading the individual creature itself. Let me know if it's allowed or not. |

Luckily, I've had this old thing for years:

Best part is, you don't even need to squint all that hard to see the parallels. |

Gotta say, really like this prompt idea. Perfect for some revamping. Mine was interesting, as it was a color-shifted card of Sea Serpent: Bog Serpent. I kinda went with a "kill the humans" bent what with Ikoria coming out soon. Since the original was interested in lands, I made this one resilient to them (just for the heck of it, and to spite Maze of Ith). Here is my reinterpretation!  P.S. - I uploaded the picture to several hosting sites, but putting it into this post won't work for some reason. Can't seem to upload the picture like the others, so I just attached it again.  |

Alright, I got Aisling Leprechaun. I had completely forgotten this card existed. It's got some nice Quinton Hoover art, but that's really its only redeeming quality.
I kept it a 1/1 for , but the ability is quite different. The flavor here is that you either let him pass undisturbed (he gains protection from you), or you refuse, in which case he angrily draws a card to use against you.
(I love how perfectly his hat fits with the legendary card frame.)

Oh, it's been a while. I rolled Ogre Errant. Skahk, Paladin of Redfurrow Legendary Creature - Ogre Knight (rare) Knights you control have menace. Whenever Skahk, Paladin of Redfurrow becomes blocked, create a 2/2 red Knight creature token that's tapped, attacking, and blocked by the same creatures. Redfurrow's knightly traditions were forged at the point of his mighty blade. |

While that phrase can technically be parsed two different ways, the parse I've marked with #1 is going to be what a native English speaker is most likely to go with. 1. Then, design a [legendary] [rare or mythic] version of your random common.2. Then, design a [legendary rare] or [mythic] version of your random common.
The only case where I can think of where #2 would "feel" like the correct parse would be if the word "legendary" was replaced with an adverb. That being said, Daij_Djan isn't a native speaker, and this is a subtle bit of grammar... so it's anyone's guess, really. |

@ ameisenmeister : Sorry if this caused any confusion. The challenge does indeed require a legendary permanent no matter the rarity you choose (so it's "version 1" of Lady Mapi's line-up). To be honest, the only reason I mentioned the rarity at all is to exclude legendary commons or uncommons from the challenge. |
