Bereft Freelancer Creature - Eldrazi Ally When ~ enters the battlefield, if you control three or more Allies, exile target nonland permanent an opponent controls. 5/5 "Eldrazi naturally flock to groups and leaders, but it's rare to see one that has career aspirations." - Doalk Or, Expedition LeaderBeefier conditional Meteor Golem. Eldrazi aren't entirely dead on Zendikar yet ( Ulamog's Crusher) so I thought it'd be fun to the play with the idea of one somehow deciding mindless rampaging wasn't doing anything productive and opting to mindfully rampage instead.

Judging { viriss}I like it. It makes sense thematically, it makes sense mechanically, I think it's well costed, and at uncommon it's a good signpost in a draft. { Flo00}I do enjoy the Surrakar when they show up; they're my kind of weird. It's a powerful card draw effect, but I think the "discard or spend life" caveat, combined with the fact that it's not likely to survive a combat without buffs, balance it out really well. Plus it's rare, which I think is a good call. { thaneofglamis}I love dwarves, and think they're woefully underrepresented in Magic, considering how many elves we see. The power here, imo, is in the ability to equip things at instant speed, which you don't see often, so that's cool. { eshix}The idea of a kraken ally is interesting, to say the least. I would like to see some more "monstrous" allies this time around, considering how in-tune with nature the people of Zendikar tend to be. The draw effect here is pretty standard, and the ability to bounce allies at instant speed is pretty useful. { gamma3}An interesting take on repeatable creature destruction. I think it works really well, and the body is vulnerable enough to various types of removal that it isn't overpowering. { ZephyrPhantom}I would love to see more evidence of Eldrazi sapience, especially after what Emrakul pulled on Innistrad last we saw her. Meteor Golem is a fine card, and I like that this variation has the Eldrazi flavor of using exile, while also being held in check a bit by the requirement. I'd definitely run it. {Winner}I liked all the entries here, so picking a winner was pretty difficult. Ultimately, I've decided on Flo00 as the winner, with ZephyrPhantom and viriss as runners-up.

Sadidi, Progenitor of Ghouls Legendary Creature - Djinn Avatar Flying At the beginning of your end step, you may exile a creature card from your graveyard. If you do, put a +1/+1 counter on each Zombie you control. Whenever a creature card is exiled from your graveyard, create a 2/2 black Zombie creature token. 7/5

Thanks for the win!
For the next challenge, we've seen plenty of Elder Dragons, a handful of Elder Dinosaurs, and even some Elder Giants. We've also seen a single Elder Demon, but let's give some of the other Iconic Types some love, though. Design an Elder creature that is either an Angel, a Sphinx, a Demon, or a Hydra

Here's my entry! I'm not sure if the activated ability is too good/at a reasonable cost though.

Deathly Omnipresence Legendary Creature - Elder Hydra ~ enters the battlefield with X +1/+1 counters on it, where X is the number of creature cards in all graveyards. Whenever ~ attacks, you may destroy up to one target creature with power X or less, where X is the number of +1/+1 counters on ~. 0/0 This hydra preys on a tribe of shamans, which have taken to venerating it as a symbol of the inevitability of death in the hopes of appeasing it.

Phew, look at the time. Has it been three weeks already? Whoops ^^; Well...uh, judging now, sorry about that. { mosgon }A nice play on hydra's +1/+1 counter mechanics without relying on an X in the cost. The activated ability is very strong, but I think it's probably fine given the rarity and cost (especially since sacrificing one of your creatures is part of that cost), compared to Death-Mask Duplicant, Cairn Wanderer, or even Rayami, First of the Fallen. { ameisenmeister }A nice big bounce etb coupled with instant/flash protection is very on brand for Azor. It is a bit of a shame that it only works when he's alone, though. I realize blue doesn't often go wide, but it feels like an unnecessary drawback, imo. { viriss }I could be wrong, but I think this needs some rewording. Specifically, I assume it should specify that those players put the exiled cards into their hand at the beginning of their upkeep. Going off of that assumption, it's a wonderful slow down mechanic with lots of flavor that I could definitely see in a Commander set. { eshix }This is potentially scary powerful. Given you could easily have 7+ +1/+1 counters just off of your own deck (it is mono black, after all), which is enough to most creatures with a printed value, the fact that it's just free targeted destruction on every attack is a bit much. It needs a printed way to lose some of those counters, as a balancing factor, imo. Maybe you should have to remove counters equal to the power/toughness/cmc of the targeted creature. Or even just remove one every time it attacks. Or it loses counters when it takes damage. Something to keep it a bit more in check. { gamma3 }Graveyard recursion connected to lifelink is a really cool idea, and making it apply to an instance of gaining life makes a lot of spells way more playable, since it gives them that extra effect. This is a good direction for white, imo, to make it a bit more viable.

I realize blue doesn't often go wide, but it feels like an unnecessary drawback, imo. I made this because Azor was made the guardian of Useless Island by Jace, where he is basically the only living being.

{old} Paired Healer Creature - Rat Cleric :Target Rogue, Warrior or Wizard you control gains protection from the color of your choice until end of turn. At the beginning of your end step, if there are exactly two creatures in your party, each opponent loses 2 life and you gain 2 life. 1/3 Flo00 I agree with Jartis, you can have any number of creatures with the same type as long as you only have two of the types among the creatures. I rephrased it slightly to make it less confusing, but honestly I don't think the party mechanic is a good fit for what I had in mind anyway...

eshix : If I control Paired Healer and two Wizards, does that count as only one other creature in my party or not? My understanding is that your party can consist of "at most" one Cleric, Rogue, Warrior, and Wizard, so having two Wizards just gives you redundancy for that slot.

Judging on monday. I hope for a few more entries by then. EDIT: Monday has arrived. gamma3: Good and simple signpost uncommon. Looking though similar cards (especially Jubilant Skybonder) I think this would be ok at three mana. eshix: I guess rules questions like this are the reason cards in Zendikar Rising only check on how many total are in the party and not any other thing. This takes the party mechanic and goes in a different direction than Zendikar Rising. If I were to build a deck with this, I'd just take one of the other types and build a deck with this type and clerics. Te drain for two might be a bit too strong fro two mana, even if it is conditional. Especially combined with the other ability. At least for limited. gamma3 wins
