I will judge 24-48 hrs later.Idea Interesting ability. About the gameplay, I doubt it is used even in limited. In many cases, it is simply a 2/2 for 3 mana in early turns. Even if you have a creature card in your graveyard, etb can't be practically copied. If you exile a low costed creature, its mana efficiency will be inferior to summoning the creature. But exiling a high costed creature is too slow. Not unplayable but will be played infrequently. I prefer to let it choose a creature card in any graveyard so it can be useful in a set focusing the graveyard like Brother's War. Or, I'll give it power 3. vizionarius The view reasoning the human part mechanically is nice. And it would be a half-zombie so it is reasonable to be both human and zombie. The ability is almost strictly worse than deathtouch though it has a slight strength that can deal with indestructible so I want it to have toughness 2 or some kind of bonus. melono Amusing flavor. I feel the balance is good. But it would be not likely to be a common. It can be a common in a set that is not focusing the graveyard but in a set with disturb, the ability would not be allowed in common. Does Skinless Skelton mean it is coated by flesh? It is less persuasive compared to other two. {winner}Idea wins. The human-undeadness totally makes sense. The ability is unique and fit with the flavor.

Thank you for the reminder vizionarius ! For the next prompt, please create a double-faced card with the illusion creature type and at least one other creature type. Whatever side has the illusion creature type must have a second creature type, both race and class being valid.

pernicious really love the wholesome flavor with this one, and how boredom is translated into milling. Mechanically it’s interesting to see how the ward flips around along with the power and toughness, and being fleeting is the essence of an illusion. I must confess some confusion as to the intended playstyle with this card though. You do have a creature that can flip between a more defensive mode and a more offensive one, but it happens at the end of the turn and turning to the more defensive version is something the opponent has more control over than the other way around. vizionarius a simple and well balanced card, a little pushing on the one blue mana perhaps (scry 2 draw one and 1/1 flier could both be individually one blue mana cards, and at least the former wouldn’t be that weak anyway). I like that you kept the classic illusion ability on the butterflies, though in their case it’s probably not much of a difference anyway, being a 1/1 creature. Still, part of me has to ask if this wouldn’t make more sense as an adventure or even a straight up creature. The effects aren’t so complex as to need to be separate and since it transforms immediately upon casting it could just as well have been “when ~ enters the battlefield, scry 2”. Flavor-wise it certainly feels a lot like an adventure card though. ZephyrPhantom Oooh an illusion on both sides! I like the idea of this small bit of inspiration growing with other mental things until it explodes in an outburst of creativity. That being said, a 2/4 drawing you a bunch of cards for just one mana, even if you have a condition like that for the transformation, is just too much in my eyes. While illusions may have some more difficulty than other types in building up numbers given effects such as the staple “dies if targeted” I don’t think that nuance is enough for that requirement to justify a 2/4 body and a Tidings for . twintania ouch, right in the feels. The only way this could convey the flavor better is if both sides dealt damage to you. Even 2D Girl being a glorified enchantment, though the glory in this case is more akin to just being more vulnerable. Honestly both sides could’ve probably cost one mana, as far as I’m aware the effect of gaining life periodically has proven very weak. In fact much more spammable stuff such as Soul Attendant / Soul Warden / Ajanni’s Welcome is priced at , though it only gains 1 life. I’ll give this one to vizionarius for what felt like the most balanced card out of the bunch and a clean design, plus incorporating the illusion sacrifice ability. twintania is the runner up for that excellent flavor conveying and a card that was very fun to talk about, and I think pernicious deserves an honorable mention for a very dynamic and interesting bundle of effects.

Yeah that's fair. I think in hindsight I'd have just costed it 4-6 mana like a normal muse, was hard to determine it on a rush

Protatheos, First of Nyx Legendary Enchantment Creature — Elder god " Vanishing 4,Convoke When Protatheos, First of Nyx enters the battlefield, you gain an emblem with “Enchantments you control are creatures in addition to their other types with power and toughness equal to their mana value if your devotion to their colors is at least five”. Whenever Protatheos, First of Nyx or another enchantment creature you control leaves the battlefield, reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal an enchantment with lesser mana value, and put it into your hand. Put the remaining cards at the bottom of your library in a random order. 4/4 |
Edit: Ruling clarification - Multicolor enchantments become creatures based on the devotion to all their colors, rather than the devotion to each color they have individually. A red, blue and white would be a creature if your 'devotion to red, blue and white' is at least five, not just if your devotion to red, to blue and to white are all individually at least five.

Feedback: Idea : That's a lot of tiny text in the image! Thanks for the text version as that helps. I really like the idea of a "proto-god"; I like it's "enchantments are gods" ability as well, though not sure I like it's an emblem. Wording could use a bit of clarity to give them a P/T even if they are not devoted to: "Enchantments you control have power and toughness equal to their mana value. If your devotion to their colors is at least five, they are creatures in addition to their other types." As far as I know, creatures can't be attached to things, so Auras would just fall off and become creatures, but then if you lose the devotion, they'd just go to the grave, so that might be a strange unintended effect. The "leaves the battlefield" part of the ability feels a little too much, since it doesn't really work too well with the other Theros Gods. I see that it does work well with its own ability, though. Vanishing and convoke both feel out of place here. It would be neat to be able to tap enchantments to pay for some of his costs, though. I can see how vanishing would be a reference to Nietzsche, so flavor points there. However, I think the design would have been cleaner overall if it just had the "enchantments are gods" effect directly on it (instead of an emblem) and if it didn't have vanishing. Also, just noticed: no indestructible? {Nietzsche Quote}"God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it?" Jartis : I hope Elder Elementals become a thing at some point, as they seem very fitting for Eldering. Your iteration feels good, but a little narrow. Interesting that it's global and not just affects things you control. I think it could use a bit of extra defense, since it's legendary and 5-mana. Overall a neat design and nice Elder pairing. emberfire17 : Excellent name! Elder Phoenix is a great pairing! I think you can do with slightly lower stats, especially since it has haste, so a 5-mana 4/4 would feel safer to me. It being a Phoenix lord is less interesting to me than it's last ability; I really like that one! I think you really captured what an Elder Phoenix would be. Well done!
Winner: emberfire17 with a nice and clean design (albeit a bit pushed in power).

What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it?" Yeah the idea I was going with, a bit abstract looking back on it, is this idea of the first god of Theros, the one at the foundation of its gods and beings of nyx, who is ever-present not actively but by their legacy. They disappear eventually (hence the vanish) but the new status quo they started (the existence of gods and nyxborn) is ever-present, and through it they are ever-present. I guess I was maybe trying to express a bit too much with the effects to the point it became unclear... even moreso than the abstract nature of it might induce on its own.

Thanks for the win! For the next challenge, choose two creature types that seem to contradict. Some examples are an Angel Devil, or maybe a Phyrexian Rebel.

Judging time! Idea Nest of Forgotten Ancients - Very cool flavor-wise, definitely very strong in gruul +1/+1 counters decks. pernicious Self-Aware Android - I like the overall concept. I think the one thing I would change is the colors, maybe W or G for humans and U or R for constructs. vizionarius Ancient Nephalem - Very powerful, I like the art too. twintania Timid Swordboy - I really like cards that you can pay into to "upgrade" like that, however with how easy it is to give something lifelink I think it would be too easy to skip over the first few abilities. Jartis Disguised Princess - This would fit in so perfectly in Eldraine. Good flavor, simple but still strong. Nice! melono Cloudweave Tarantoucan - The idea that birds and spiders are opposites is pretty amusing but it definitely fits in with MtG's mechanics for the two creature types. Nice ability too. sorsal Optimal Allusion - Love the reference here, fun card. moweda Holographic Colossus - Simple and straightforward, I like it. Overall winner is Jartis with runner up being Idea

Thanks for the win! As far as I'm aware, we've never had a Gargoyle with a class type, and I feel like that's a little disappointing. So that's the challenge. Design a Gargoyle with a class type! Colored, colorless, artifact or not, doesn't matter.
