Talisman of Wishes Artifact - Equipment Equipped creature has changeling. Once each turn, if equipped creature is untapped, you may tap it rather than pay the activation cost of an activated ability of an artifact. Equip From the Duck Tales Movie. I limited it to once per turn because else you could easily break this with things like Puppet Strings + Fallowsage/ Goblin Medics. I also tried some different versions of the ability like granting a ability to the creature. This seemed to me to be the one with the cleanest wording and that's hardest to break. Oh, damn. Door to Nothingness and Aetherflux Reservoir say hi.

Hmm... Maybe this should just say mana cost. That would at least fix one of them. But then it wouldn‘t work with activated abilities with at all...

Just a quick entry then.
Scrooge McDuck Two generic and two red Legendary Creature - Duck Nobel Scrooge McDuck cannot be block by creatures whose controller control treasure. Your Opponents cannot sacrifice treasure during combat. Whenever an opponent sacrifices a treasure, create two treasure. 2: target opponent creates a treasure. 2/3
Doesn't fit perfectly thematically, because scrooge mcduck would never pay anyone money, but eeeeh.... close enough I think.

I knew I had forgotten something This challenge is now closed - please no further changes of entries!
So in the end, all five entries are from the Ducktales franchise? Well, I won't complain – so here we go: { Flo00} Funnily enough, I had just rewatched the movie with my son (which is why I decided to suggest that franchise in the first place ), so this is a nice reference for me. That aside, I really like your card. The first ability is mostly flavor, but it's a nice addition to the more important second one. There obviously are some cards that combo „nicely“ with the Talisman, but as a three card combo I don't worry much about this being too broken. { ameisenmeister} Nice and clean, I like it. Combining red's recent Treasure token focus with their impulsive draw looks like a fitting combination. { Sanfonier of the Night} First of all: Wow, that's some impressive art. Seriously. That aside, the card looks very solid as well. My only complaint is how it's not that exciting as a legend. Commander isn't everything, but I can never not think about it when potential commanders are involved { hydraheadhunter} This is.. a pretty unique design, not gonna lie. That last line might be a bit wonky as far as the flavor is concerned, but I guess it can be considered an „investment“ when combined with the previous ability. Also that first line is pretty cool. All in all, it is a bit wordy and requires a bit of pondering, but the more I look at it the more I like your design – also it might be pretty interesting to build around it. { MaiApologies (She/Her)} Three mana rock with some pretty cool upside, I like it. It might be a better choice to just create an additional token rather than doubling them for balancing purpurses though. {And the winner is..} OK wow, this is a tough one – I liked all of your entries After some pondering, I decided to give the win to ameisenmeister in the end. Nice work, everyone!

Thanks for the win! Your next card will either show something from the Dishonored or the Pokémon universe.
For further challenges: It's okay to repost a theme any number of times if you'd like to see more cards from it and think that there's more design space to mine. In that case, you can of course give some limits to spice things up, ex.: a card from the Pokémon universe representing a Pokémon attack.

Pokeball Four Generic Artifact Imprint - When ~ enters the battlefield, you may exile target creature with mana value 4 or less or a creature card with mana value 4 or less from your hand. Pay Four generic and tap: Create a token that is a copy of the exiled card. Exile as ~ becomes untapped.
An isochron sceptor analogue, designed so that you can get infinite ETB or LTB effects but not infinite tokens, representing a creature going in and out of the pokeball.

Red, Kanto Champion Trainer - Red : Search your library for a blue creature card with converted mana cost 2 or less, reveal that card, and put it into your hand. Then shuffle. : Search your library for a green creature card with converted mana cost 4 or less, reveal that card, and put it into your hand. Then shuffle. : Search your library for a red creature card with converted mana cost 5 or less, reveal that card, and put it into your hand. Then shuffle. Trainers are primarily a reflavored Planeswalker type. I wanted to portray them in a unique way that fit their role in Pokemon but without trampling over the lore for Planeswalkers and a Pokemon's role in combat. The searching is a reference to the starter pokemon you can typically pick (Fire/Water/Grass - more specifically Charmander/Squirtle/Bulbasaur, or their various evolutions.) I ordered them in reference to the way Red is depicted with them in other media, particularly in Smash Bros. where the order is Squirtle/Ivysaur/Charzard.

Leovold, Blood-clad King Legendary Creature - Lopunny Noble The first card you discard each turn has Madness. The madness cost is equal to its mana cost. When a creature enters the battlefield under your control, if its madness cost was paid, it gains haste until end of turn. Discard a card: You may cast a creature spell from your graveyard this turn. If you do, you may pay its madness cost instead of its mana cost. Activate this ability only once each turn. 2/2

Infestation Sorcery MON UHarness (You may tap a creature you control as you cast this spell. If you do, reduce this spell’s mana cost by that creature’s power.)Create two 1/1 green Insect creature tokens. This is a Pokemon reference on two different levels. First, it's a reference to the move Infestation from the Pokemon games. Second, it's supposed to fit right in to cajun's pokemon fan set MON (I can't spell Chikyru for the life of me so I'm using the set code).

Hey everyone! Just discovered that contest! Here's my entry on a Pokémon theme. I chose the easy way by simply creating a card that represents a Pokémon, but the mechanics worked so well that I had to.
So here it is :

Judging time!
Neat idea with cool flavor. I like how you're actually able to "catch" an opponent's pokemon with the ball. The repeated triggering of etb effects is potentially powerful but not broken for what the card costs. ZephyrPhantom
Pokémon trainers represented by planeswalkers makes a lot of sense. However, I don't get why the creature cards have to have the set mana values that you chose or why the abilities cost what they cost. A cmc 2 creature costs -1 to fetch, a cmc 4 costs -2 and a cmc 5 costs -5? Why? And why having different costs for the different colors in the first place? As it is, the design feels weirdly random to me.
Well, to know whether the evolution ability is any good one would have to know about Dragonair's and Dratini's abilities. As a mechanic, I like it, as it is simple enough to understand and still conveys the flavor of evolution quite well. Otherwise, the card isn't particularly powerful or creative. A 6/6 flyer that sometimes gets a +1/+1 counter isn't really impressive for six mana. It also doesn't really fit Dragonite imo, which is usually described as a friendly giant kind of Pokémon, if I'm not mistaken. The art is badass, though.
Daliah Black
Maybe I should've given the warning that I only know about the first two generations of Pokémon, perhaps a little bit about the third gen. So I can't really say much about how well the card fits the Pokémon it reresents. As an individual design, the card works, although it kinda shoves the madness theme into the face too much for my taste. MaiApologies (She/Her)
Powerful. Casting this for five mana nets you a 6/6 Radha, for example. It's probably fair though as you have to pump a lot of mana into it and play some high mana value creatures to really make it shine. And yes, the card screams Timmy from the top of its lungs. foureyesisafish
Fine card and I like the mechanic although it could easily be busted if put on the wrong card. I have no idea about the custom Pokéon set but I get the other reference.
The only Dishonored related card. Looks like a cool and flavorful enchantment that reminds me of Staff of Domination. The only issue I have is that the static ability likely leads to delayed games where the enchantment's owner repeatedly checks everybody's top card. You could prevent this by either having the card only make you look at your own top card or have every opponent play with their top card revealed to everyone.
Cool idea and a very good use of the outdated flip frame. Basically, you could just make the card a 2/5 that gets +3/-3 whenever it attacks but where'd be the fun in that? {And the winner is...} Maiapologies!
With hydraheadhunter and foureyesafish as runners up.
Thanks everyone for participating! (and for waiting an eternity for me to awake from hibernation...)

Sixth Ranger's Debut Sorcery Search your library for a creature card, reveal that card, put it into your hand, then shuffle. Teamwork - If you control five or more creatures, put that card onto the battlefield instead. In 1993, an attempt to create one of the Power Rangers' greatest foes would instead create one of their most enduring allies.Pretty much Tommy Oliver.card, but I doubt that's a bad thing.

The Empty Five Black Legendary Enchantment Whenever The Empty enters the battlefield or phases in, empty all mana pools then destroy all other permanents. The Empty cannot be sacrificed. If the empty would leave the battlefield, it phases out instead. Players may spend 2 life as though it were any type of mana. 2: return a land from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped. Any player may activate this ability.
Representing the end of Undertale's genocide run where chara destroys everything.

ZephyrPhantom - A simple card with a strong reference and an abilityword that's versatile enough to encompass a lot of Power Rangers flavor.
hydraheadhunter - Excellent flavor win, but I feel like it takes games over too severely; resetting the entire board that hard feels like it would sting a lot of the time. Still though, that's actually a perfect flavor win.

Thanks for the win! For your next two crossovers, let's try the following: Yu-Gi-Oh! The other long-running big card game on the block, one of Yugioh's biggest draws is the show that accompanies the card game, leading to all sorts of infamous memes like asking what Pot of Greed always does to being at third rate duelist with a fourth-rate deck. As a game, Yugioh's lack of a mana system and rampant amounts of card value and instant speed tricks makes for a lot of fast-paced (if a little hard to follow) fun. Fate A long running series originating with Fate/Stay Night in 2004, Fate's main draw is putting twists on various historical figures and re-imagining them in creative ways that result in things like Lancelot du Lac and Gilgamesh having an air battle with fighter jet and a spaceship. The franchise has expanded to include numerous historical figures and plotlines since then, ultimately culminating in its own MCU-like time travel multiverse centered around Fate/Grand Order with fairly similar undertones of epic battles mixed with snarky comedy. While not strictly a requirement, I may give an extra point or two to any of the following: - Making a design that would plausibly fit in black border in mechanics and flavor. I won't penalize Abridged-Series-esque designs, but I do want to see the source material get some love! - Making something that features less well known characters/spinoffs/events in the franchise. Yugi/Kaiba and Saber references are a dime a dozen in any media adjacent to their series; give me something fresh!

Duel Disk Artifact When Duel Disk enters the battlefield, attach it to target opponent’s arm. As long as that player controls five of more creatures, they can’t cast xcreature spells and creatures can’t enter the battlefield under their control. Whenever the arm Duel Disk is attached to isn’t parallel to the game table, its controller sacrifices a creature. Like seriously, you can't fit more than five cards on that thing. A friend of mine once had one of these and you really have to watch how you hold your arm when using them.

Raging Flame Sprite 3 Red Creature - Elemental Faerie Trample Whenever Raging Flame Sprite attacks, choose up to one creature the defending player controls that blocks it if able. Only creatures chosen this way can block Raging Flame Sprite. Whenever Raging Flame Sprite attacks and isn't blocked put two +1/+1 counter on it. 0/1
My favorite yugioh card (read: the only card I like), is Raging Flame Sprite a straight forward smol boy that gets progressively bigger each time it attacks your opponent's life points and it's allowed to attack the life points directly. Unfortunately, despite being an amazingly designed card, is horrible to play with because Yugioh is a meta of wombo and combo with very little room for slow burns (heh) like Raging Flame Sprite. To translate it into MTG, I've given it trample, low starting stats, and a growth ability. I've also made it so that when it attacks, you're allowed sole descretion on what creature (if any) is allowed to block it. I'd do a render using the original art, but: YUGIOH DOESN"T CREDIT IT"S ARTISTS. so fuck 'em.
