Seems like we have quite a few Yugioh fans here with stories to tell judging from the entries. I plan to judge this sometime next week.

I have to say I wasn't expecting so many Yugioh players or watchers, though I find it funny that a lot of people tried to adapt rules related to monsters on the field as opposed to events or cards they had a story to tell about. Judging: Sanfonier of the Night - I'd been keeping my eye on this design for a bit and to be honest, I liked your Tribute 2 interpretation better. Tribute Summon, while not necessarily bad, feels like you edited it at the last minute because your colorshifted Blue Eyes gains haste despite already having haste. If anything, I think you should've just tweaked the keywords to fit Planar Chaos White-Blue a bit better, or just left the Trample-Haste alone and owned it as a Yugioh adaptation. What I do like in this adaptation is the use of fight, which helps me both see the Yugioh parallel and carries the Green part of the Planeshift quite nicely. It's kind of funny how the basic mechanics of Yugioh map fairly cleanly to Jund and you made a decent effort to highlight that by having the three given abilities correspond to a color each. I also like how you effectively divided Blue Eyes's stats by 500. Overall it's a good design that could see print in Jund, but for some reason I feel like I liked the simplicity of the initial design better that twisted Magic mechanics to sort of reference Blue Eyes rather than copy it mechanic for mechanic. Flo00 - Now this is admittedly the kind of Silver Border design I was hoping to see - one that's clever and references an experience people can immediately get from looking at the card. Aside from the silly parts of it, it actually does seem like a fun prison piece that would get played for laughs in casual games and silver border EDH, and I think it transplants a rule Yugioh has in an interesting way without being too frustrating about it. Set ready. Nonagon Infinity - Eh, I'm a bit conflicted about this one. I see the wisdom of making a land to enforce these rules that you can put down on the first turn, but realistically I think that makes it feel like it tries a bit too hard because there will be games when it doesn't appear right away or is this awkward dead draw/land drop eating feel-bad. The design and overall flavor makes me feel like this should be a cheap 2-3 mana enchantment rather than a land on the whole, even if I get the reference to Arena. It's a good card on paper but I feel like there's a clash between what I expect when I read the name and ability box and the actual typeline. hydraheadhunter - I actually recognize this card, lol. I like the combination of Yugioh mechanic and resulting buff gimmick - while it faithfully retains the Yugioh card's intent, your implementation of it feels appropriately Magic in a way that feels balanced and interesting to play both as a draft card and as a Standard card. The only thing I don't like is the lack of a rarity because it makes me uncertain of how to evaluate it for Limited, though I assume at minimum. Topaz542 - Finally, someone willing to test the judge's limits by referencing a later gimmick! I actually used to play Majespecter casually so I recognize this card, lol. Even if the result feels a bit more like a constrained Adventure, your clever use of framing and effects make me feel like you not only referenced the card neatly but also adapted it in a way that it looks like an actual Magic card people would play in Limited. It is a bit weird how you have no choice but to cast as a Sorcery first, but given your generally solid presentation I'll allow it. I do think this is rather weak for a rare compared to things like Bonecrusher Giant - you could probably knock the cost down to or even due to the Sorcery speed timing. P.S. - What template did you use to make this? 1st: Topaz5422nd: hydraheadhunter and Flo00

Thanks for the win! Honestly wasn't expecting it at all tbh. As for the template, its the M15 mainframe template with a hybrid background with the gradient set to vertical. Now for the next crossover. I'm choosing two franchises near and dear to my heart. Games I've been playing for as long as I can remember and while one may be a bit more on the niche side of things, I think they're both up there in terms of overall quality. Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest! For anyone who doesn't know, Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest are the two defining JPRGs. Both published on the NES in 1986 for Dragon Quest 1, and 1987 for Final Fantasy 1, they've evolved into multimedia mega franchises spanning multiple games, spinoff series, TV shows, Movies, Manga, Merchandise and more. While Dragon Quest may not have caught on as much as Final Fantasy has in the west, rest assured that it remains as much, if not more, of a cultural phenomenon in the east as it was back in the 80s. Ill be awarding bonus points if the designs are derived from a game other than each franchises most popular *wink wink*

The only things I know from any of these are a few Final Fantasy movies. And even they have been a while ago. I might rewatch Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within and let that inspire me if I find the time. EDIT: Couldn't come up with anything better than this: Renewed Land Sorcery Return target land card from your graveyard to the battlefield and untap it. It gains “ : Add one mana of any color.”

Well, its been almost 2 weeks and I suppose I have to pass the torch to keep this going. Since there was only one card submitted I have no choice but to give 1st place to Flo00.

Kind of sad to see this. I guess a lot of people - just like myself - are not that much into jrpgs and therefore had no real connection to either of the suggested franchises.

Yeah. I grew up playing these games and most of my friends know of, or are also fans of, these franchises so I guess I assumed more people were as fond of as I am.

I had some ideas but my memories of my Final Fantasy game days aren't too fresh (I was really trying to avoid doing FFVII) so I was spending some time puzzling it over. If you'd like a proper judging feel free to count this as a entry. Topaz542 Flo00So I played one of the Crystal Chronicle games a long time ago and that game was notable for having mercenary party members you could permanently hire if you met their overly specific conditions. One particularly funny encounter I remember having was with a mercenary that was overly obsessed with being fashionable above anything else and would only join if you paid him 5000 gil (presumably to fund his clothing budget). He actually was a pretty good party member and capable of soloing in some capacity though this appears to be because he had pretty high overall attack and low HP/MP.The guy was dressed in all Red, so that made picking his color a fairly easy matter: Fashionable Mercenary Creature - Selkie Mercenary ~ can't attack unless you sacrificed a Treasure token this turn. , Discard ~: Create a Treasure token. 5/1 "These clothes don't pay for themselves."

That's aweird way to win. Especially because my entry felt quite random in the face of the challenge. Next up: Clank! and Slay the Spire(Clank! In! Space! is also ok.) ... yes I like deckbuilders.

Well hopefully I don't blow this win like I did last time. This time around I'm going to pick franchises that are * hopefully* more well known and liked. The Legend of Zelda or Kirby!

Kirby Creature . Avatar , : Exile target creature blocking Kirby until Kirby becomes tapped or leaves the battlefield. As long as that creature remains exiled, Kirby has all its abilities. : Kirby gains flying until end of turn. Activate this only if no card is exiled with Kirby. 2/2

Majora's Mask Legendary Artifact At the beginning of your upkeep, put a moon counter on Majora's Mask. Then, if there are three or more moon counters, destroy all permanents.

2-for-1 reference: The Master Sword Legendary Artifact Equipped creature has first strike and lifelink. Master's Skills - Equipped creature has triple strike as long as your life total is higher than half your starting life total. (This creature deals first-strike, regular, and last-strike combat damage.)Equip The Master Sword in Zelda (and its kirby 'cameo') performs better if you are at full health, firing a sword beam, and tends to go hand in hand with the iconic spin attack. I decided to represent both here, making the life requirement a little more lenient in favor of promoting more interesting back and forths. The life gain is a bit of a stretch but it was too good a pun to pass up, works with the general holy/heroic sword aesthetics, and neatly ties the card together.

Inhale Sorcery Exile target creature you don't control. Target creature you control becomes a copy of the exiled creature until your next turn. Of course, a take on Kirby's signature ability, as well as a much weaker variant of Fractured Identity.

Tried making a card that incorporates the concept of defeating "bosses" to get stronger, and gathering an increasing arsenal of weapons along the way.

Judging time! A lot of really cool entries for both franchises and I'm going to give me thoughts on each card before announcing my top three and, of course, the winner. Flo00 : KirbyI really like the whole idea of this, untapping to exile and gain the abilities of that creature. Really feels like something that Kirby would do if it was a magic card. Plus I really like the usage of the untap symbol. @nonagoninfinity: Majora's MaskReally neat interpretation the mask. I do like how flavorful it is with three moon counters. viriss : Bag of BombsThis seems like something I would put into my UR Chaos EDH deck. Simple, flavorful design. I really like this one ZephyrPhantom : Master SwordSo funny thing, I'm actually working on a Link to the Past themed set and one of the pseudo-keywords in it is very similar to Master's Skills. I really like this design, though it does seem like it might be a bit too cheap for what it does. Triple Strike just seems too good for 4 mana, even if it is highly situational with it being locked behind the keyword. I think kicking the casting cost up to or might be a bit better. @noahlotr : InhaleNice, simple, clean. I like it. A really good sorcery interpretation of Kirby's signature ability! I think I would actually use this alongside Fractured Identity in my Brago EDH deck. ameu : Epona's SongI think this design is kind of sick. It seems like an alternate version of Legendary Sorceries and I really like it. Very flavorful and I really like it. kefke : Hero's CourageThis is a really cool design. Very representative of a young Link overcoming greater and greater challenges and becoming stronger alongside the myriad of equipment you get in his games. I would put this in my Experiment Kraj EDH deck. Okay, so overall I really like all the submissions but I have to pick a winner. 3rd: ZephyrPhantom 2nd: kefke and of course: 1st: ameu

ZephyrPhantom : Master SwordSo funny thing, I'm actually working on a Link to the Past themed set and one of the pseudo-keywords in it is very similar to Master's Skills. I really like this design, though it does seem like it might be a bit too cheap for what it does. Triple Strike just seems too good for 4 mana, even if it is highly situational with it being locked behind the keyword. I think kicking the casting cost up to " style="max-width:100%;"] or " style="max-width:100%;"] might be a bit better. I used Seraphic Greatsword as the basis for costing my card, which from my understanding actually was not that remarkable even in the format it was explicitly designed for (Commander). The Master Sword arguably has even less impact than that and has a fairly similar tough situational demand, so I figured it would be appropriate to cost it cheaper to try and push it a bit harder.

I'm so happy! This is my first win here. Thanks a lot, hope you enjoy the whole set aswell.
I'd like to see a crossover about Chrono Trigger/Cross or The Elder Scrolls universe! You choose!
