A cheaper Frogify with automatic removal, but auto-removing it forces the player whose creature has been hoggified to show you their hand. Obviously best with bounce spells so you know the named card is in their hand. Flavorfully, it's [SPIRITED AWAY SPOILERS] Chihiro realizing none of the pigs she's choosing from are her parents.

Big thanks for runner-up and congratz to our winner! Did I ever mention I'm a big anime fan?
EDIT: Lol, gotten ninja'd by MaiApologies (She/Her) with a very similar card. Sorry about that - didn't see your entry before I posted mine xD

I'm assuming since the judging itself isn't posted that I'm not too late? Apologies for the late entry regardless.

{ MaiApologies (She/Her)} MaiApologies (She/Her) A very flavourful and fun card, well done on those parts. I think that without basic land naming, this is too fragile. And with it (which would probably be the common method), it doesn't fit so much anymore with the flavor it set up and it would be only useful in the early game where the chance for good creatures to remove is lower. But all in all, a cool card that manages to convey the flavour well. { Daij_Djan} Daij_Djan A clean card, using flavour for a small, interesting extra. It helps that it is a really small effect since it can be added without changing anything more on this Frogify version, providing an extra spice without having the need to ubnsettle it's power balance. { ameisenmeister} ameisenmeister An interesting card, combining two somewhat similar effects from different (color) origins flavourfully with the mind and body consuming ablilities of my probably favourite character of the movie. The "discard" would tend to be not that useful considering it costs 5 mana where there would be not much to choose from anymore, but combined with the banishing effect, that's very minor. { Tesagk} Tesagk A very flavourful card. It seems to put flavour above the other design parts. Bilbo is not bad, but not exciting either, also because you have to play three different colors to get him. His sacrifice effect is again flavourful but not important anyway because by then it is turn 9 anyway. The One Ring is more interesting, offering power laced with equal drawback while filling it's role well. The fact that those connected cards use different kinds of counters, especially growing in numbers at different rates, feels pretty odd. But all in all, there is nothing too wrong with it and it has it's strenght. { Schwa77} Schwa77 No need to apologize, I will anyway refresh the page every time before I send out my judging to make sure to judge everyone. Smaug being the archetypical big bad greedy dragon is being very well reflected by this card which doesn't try to do fancy things, just impactful goodness. The only big thing would be that it is way too strong imo, being able of dealing obscene amounts of damage directly after entering the battlefield and without mana costs. {And the winner is...} ameisenmeister! While MaiApologies (She/Her)' card had the best "directly-from-movie-to-card flavour" and yours has a minor flaw Daij_Djan's didn't have, yours very nicely captures the flavourful essence of the character with an interesting combination of distant-cousins effects.

Thanks for the win!
Let's try something different this time for a game... Your card is either something inspired by the Age of Empires Series (part 1, 2 or 3 - all expansions are fine with me) or from a classic movie basically everybody should be familiar with; The Lion King.
Have fun everyone!

Long Live the King Sorcery If there is a monarch, Long Live the King deals 3 damage to them and they draw a card. You become the monarch.

Normally, I'm really not a fan of uncommon legendarys. But then again, I really wanted to keep this card as clean as it is and don't really think it deserves to be a rare.. So here we go!

Judging time!
Very cool card depicting a crucial moment of the movie. It makes you the monarch and hurts the former monarch, which is absolute flavor gold. I don't get, however, why they draw a card. Also, it seems a bit weird that you hit yourself with this when you're already the monarch, turning it into a one mana draw-a-card-and-lose-3-life spell.
Hilarious design that ticks all the flavor check boxes available. Turning insects into food is just a great idea and partner with Timon fits perfectly. Now I just have to hope that someone else will issue the Lion King again in this challenge so you can show what Timon's card is like.
Rafiki looks really good! I know that a lot of people don't take artwork into account when judging but I don't really see why. A card is much more than it's rules text and mana cost and finding this artwork depicting an actual mandrill shaman must have taken you hours. Furthermore, the card's abilites tell a great story. His mark strenghtens new creatures, like a newly born Simba for instance, and you are rewarded when your little baby has grown enough to follow its destiny. Which is hitting some planeswalker's face, apparently.
Alright, the flavor is fine, I guess. Your lion king inspiring his tribe when he roars from his den. But what are lion and leonin creatures? Aren't they all just cats in magic? Perhaps you want to exclude tigers, pumas and little cats, but why then add leonin to the mix?
Oh yeah, that's a good one. In my childhood, I more often than not found myself rooting for the villains in movies rather than for the heroes. I wasn't particularly fond of Scar, however, but the hyenas were a different story. They were obviously excluded from the other animals and not much of a choice. When they turned against Scar in the end, it was equally evil and just because he basically used them without keeping his promise of plenty. Oh, and your card is really nice in capturing this turning point. Could be common, though.
{And the winner is...} Daij_Djan! Not much more to say other than it was a very tight race with boogymanjunior. But turning insects into food... This was simply a masterful move. ;-)
Thanks everyone for participating!

Nice - big thanks for the win!
I decided to go with two different videogames this time.. Your challenge is to design a card either fitting anywhere within the Super Mario franchise or belonging to Horizons: Zero Dawn.

As the name "Totem Armor" is flavour-wise contraint to something spiritual (and up to now, also the card's name inclusion of "Umbra") but it fit so good, I allowed myself to copy the keyword ability text without using the name. It is probably unnecessary to explain, but it includes the giant growth, second life and the fact that you get more/better items through Brick Block destruction.

Allright then, here we go! { Schwa77} And we start things off with a pretty cool design indeed. Like how he brings his own barrel both afterwards can throw averything else at his enemies as well. Costs and stats all seem to be just fine as well – my only nitpick would be a personoal preference: I dislike hybrid costed cards with only a single of its colors appearing in the cost(s) of its ability(-ies), which is why I'd personally prefer him in mono-green with a clean offcolor ability. But again, that's purely a matter of my own tastes rather than a real critism. { MaiApologies (She/Her)} Never played any of the Galaxy games, so I actually had to look up what Mattermouth does first^^ After doing so it's quite obvious ETB land destruction is a nice fit, even though this card feels kind of weak somehow – probably because of the power based on the number of lands exiled. Would caring about the number of land cards in graveyards really break the design (while changing the ETB from exiling to destoying as well, obviously)? { ameisenmeister} And here we have our only Horizons: Zero Dawn based entry – and it's a really well done one as well! Cost and stats, land tutoring abiliy and even flavor text are all perfectly fitting, even though a five mana Rampant Growth on legs probably won't play as good as the card otherwise looks. { ZephyrPhantom} A simple, well costed and flavorful common? I like it! (who would've guessed^^) { Flo00} I'm not 100% sure, what exactly this card is really supposed to do. Considering all of the Monarch cards refer to a player „becoming“ or „being“ the Monarch, isn't this basically a permanent Mindslaver-effect? Or do you want to gain control purely of the Monarch token – which would be really flavorful and cool yet (I'm afraid) needs to use the normal „you become the Monarch“ wording to work within the rules.. { Boogymanjunior} This is a very clever design, but it might actually be a bit too clever for its own good. The abilities all make perfectly sence after your explanation and you definitely did well in translating the Super Mario flavor completely into MtG – yet somewhere in that translation somehow the original mushroom flavor sadly got lost. This might totally be me, but without having read your explanation I for a moment even though this card was supposed to be posted for a different challenge. All in all a very nice and I'd say balanced card, but for this specific challenge I personally think you went a bit too far with your transformation. {And the winner is..} This was a close one – like seriously. I pretty much knew which two entries stood at the top for me, but they switched places multiple times while writing this judging. In the end, I decided to gie the win back to ameisenmeister with Schwa77 as insanely close runner-up.
