In A Gentleman in Moscow, the main character is under house arrest in a very fancy hotel. Thus… Luxury Confinement Enchantment — Aura Enchant creature an opponent controls. When ~ enters the battlefield, enchanted creature’s controller creates two Treasure tokens. Enchanted creature can’t attack or block.

Idea - After a starting investment of , you have to make three Sheeps enter your battlefield; there aren't many sheeps in Magic, so you would need to include some changelings in your deck as well to increase the chances of transforming the enchantment. The payback is a 2/2 with a luck-based lifegain ability that has a 50% chance of giving you less than what you paid for ( Ghost-Lit Redeemer makes you gain 2 for ), and a Tolsimir-like ability, that you have to pay a non indifferent cost to activate, that creates a somewhat versatile robo-sheep which, after a total of 6 mana investment, seems to me a bit underwhelming even if it's "respawnable". I'm not saying it's a bad card, I just think that it's a bit too mana-inefficient for my tastes.
gluestick248 - The card itself is pretty good, I could actually see it printed. However, I don't think that it represents that well the gentleman's predicament in terms of flavor. Since "In case he would step out of the hotel, he would be executed by firing squad.", an effect such as "When enchanted creature attacks or blocks, destroy it." would have been more appropriate, in my opinion.
The winner is gluestick248!

Thanks pernicious! I did consider your suggestion of killing the creature when it attacks, but ultimately I went for the more familiar template. Your next challenge is to make a card for an existing Universes Beyond property (such as Stranger Things, Godzilla, or even the newly announced Assassin’s Creed) or a property intended for young children (Think Sesame Street or Dora the Explorer) A short explanation would be helpful as I may not be familiar with the property you choose. Good luck!

A card to kill Emrakul, but not kill Marit Lage, I like it very much.

Noo-Noo Artifact Creature - Construct Whenever Noo-Noo attacks, exile up to one other target tapped artifact until Noo-Noo leaves the battlefield. 3/3 The vacuum cleaner from Teletubbies. It notoriously sucks up everything that is left lying around on the floor.

…And here we are: kefke: We usually see land destruction in red these days, but it’s totally in pie for green as well. The drawback for hitting a basic is interesting, but I think it would read better as an upside for hitting a nonbasic to be in line with other effects. For me, it seems you’re only going to destroy a basic if it’ll take your opponent entirely off a color, and even then you’re replacing the land, so that seems weak. Definitely an interesting use for land tokens though. Sanfonier of the Night: That’s a whole lot of damage for a whole lot of mana. To me, this basically boils down to 15 damage for 14 mana thanks to both its Atomic Breath plus haste and attacking for 15 with Gargantuan, plus a whole bunch of extra stuff if it sticks around. Ultimately, it is just an expensive burn spell stapled to an expensive huge creature. Very fitting for the King of Monsters, but even Godzilla, Primeval Champion only costs 9. Flo00: Based on your explanation, the flavor here is spot-on. Playing this makes your opponents think twice about tapping their artifacts, but it still lets them if they want to, and the summoning sickness gives everyone a turn’s worth of notice before this starts exiling things. I’m not sure if this has a home anywhere, being a 5 mana 3/3 with an ability that is only relevant sometimes, but the design is interesting. Bouncearama: For the sake of this review, I’m going to assume you have plenty of space in your autograph book to sign Sol Ring, and will be able to untap an artifact every turn. This is a powerful effect, but I don’t think it’s broken, since it’s limited to once a turn. I don’t know this character very well, but the card seems more blue than anything else. I’ll give the win here to pistonsmcgraw for the commander which feels like it has some neat synergies without being overpowered. Runner-up goes to Flo00 for the interesting and flavorful card that unfortunately doesn’t seem to have a place.

A long time ago someone challenged me to make cards based on the color of Gant, which puts in an interesting spot for this prompt because I was trying to capture the idea of "the colour that’s left when all others are devoured" while skewing away from Fallen London a bit. Here's my original draft for it, for reference, lore and all: The design I present tries to fuse a bit of Fallen London's Gant themes with my challenge prompt Gant's inflexibility and deprivation themes. The Treachery of Breath {A}Sorcery Destroy target creature. You may only play sorcery spells for the rest of this turn. "A link to death, dying, and that which was."Being able to play around the limitation by ordering your spells correctly is intended. Compare Infernal Grasp, which is more reliable at Instant speed, ensuring Black is still top dog in creature kill.

At least that's what I thought ARG is supposed to mean. Iron Harvest is set in an alternate reality of the 1920s where the First World War is fought not with tanks and planes but with mechs and exo suits.

ZephyrPhantom wins by default! Guess I misjudged the popularity of ARGs and Fallen London.

Thanks. Your next crossover choice is one of the following: 1) Make a card depicting something from Neon Genesis Evangelion (any version) 2) Pick a work that has referenced Evangelion (Spider-Man Across the Spider Verse, Bayonetta, Super Robot Wars, to name a few) and design a card that is related to that reference somehow. So for example, if you pick Bayonetta, you must reference Fly Me to The Moon, Angels, or Affinities on the card somehow. Feel free to use the following: Tributes to Neon Genesis Evangelion in other MediaEvangelion (Crossover Wiki)

Pretty sure I mentioned this somewhere in the past, but the very first custom Magic cards I designed ever were actually NGE themed - and no, I'm not gonna show you them since they've been lost to time. Also I'm pretty sure they were horrible (except using the new Absorb mechanic to represent the A.T.Field - still remember and like that part)
Also did a few one-off designs from time to time - but I wanted to dabble in something completely new for this one, so here we go:

In Nisenmonogatari, after a particular character turns into a goddess and Araragi (the protagonist) barley makes it out with his life, his girlfriend Shinjougahara traps him in an abandoned school to prevent him from trying to confront the new goddess again and getting himself killed. She declares this via quoting Rei Ayanami's speech, specifically the lines "You won't die because I'll protect you" to which Araragi quips back that he'd prefer to talk without unnecessary Evangelion references. This also inverts a bit the meaning of the speech - the original was encouraging Shinji to fight with the assurance he'd have an ally fighting by his side, whereas Monogatari's version is telling Araragi not to fight.

Sick for the forseeable future, so this will be short: emberfire17 - Good summary of the character and interesting value engine, add the custom ability text and it feels very in line with a modern WOTC commander design. Daij_Djan - Wasn't it SEELE that had the mass-produced Evangelions? Slight disconnect aside I get what you were going for and that it'd be a bit hard to limit to exactly to a set number of them and keep the card graceful. I'm not sure how much I like that this could be any mecha anime if it wasn't for the token names, but tbf cards like these are usually part of a larger set, so it feels bad to be too hard on the design for it. I thought maybe it should it explicitly reward Pilots of CMC2 but that seems too forced a restriction for an already small tribe. Idea - Good concise lore explanation. I think even if someone has not watched Monogatari they would get the spirit of it, especially the subversive flavor that 'protect' can mean multiple things. It's a fresh Journey to Nowhere variant that's powered down a little in a way that I could see fitting well into current standard. I'd say Idea wins because their cards really crunches out the duality of the referenced moment neatly with how you can point it at ally and enemy pairs alike, so that it works as a common removal slot while keeping its flavor intact.

Thank you for the win ZephyrPhantom ! For the next challenge, the options will be: Frieren Beyond Journey's End OR to Your Eternity OR Any other Story whose main character is immortal in some fashion and explores that as a theme.
