The snow of the Arena very suddenly gives way to sand. It seems someone has dropped a desert in the middle of the plane, and only a few steps in, winter's chill has disappeared to its heat. In the distance, a purple tail seems to beckon you to come closer.
If you aren't brave enough for the sands, you may find they aren't there the next time you pass through... but they're likely to appear anywhere you go looking for them.

"Get that silly hat off your head."Hat StoreLand : Add . : Add one mana of any color. Spend this mana only to cast enchantment spells. If you cast an Aura spell this way, when that Aura enchants a creature, put a +1/+1 counter on the enchanted creature.

"You're just jealous no hat would dare grace your head."
Envious Eyes Enchantment - Aura Enchant creature Whenever Collector's Envy or another Aura becomes attached to enchanted creature, enchanted creature deals damage equal to its power to target player. "There won't be a soul alive that doesn't adore me." Hat Store: A nice land for enabling Aura shenanigans, but I think it might be a touch powerful as a gold land for all enchantments (compare Ancient Ziggurat which is a more common type but doesn't tap for C or add +1 counters, or Cavern of Souls' fairly narrow restriction), 8/10

A little confusing for new players since the owner of the enchantment chooses the damage even if it enchants an opponent creature and that opponent enchants with another Aura. 7/10 "The only good hat is a helmet or crown.'Chief's Warcamp Land - Animus Chief's Warcamp enters the battlefield tapped. : Add . : Chief's Warcamp becomes an Orc Soldier creature until end of turn. 2/1

Okus hadn't been prepared for such a quiet threat. Perhaps it was time to play dumb. What would the host do? Scream and run away! Besides that.
"We can't all be warriors Mr. Var. If we were, who would the warriors fight for?"
False Tears Enchantment Flash When a creature deals damage to you, sacrifice False Tears. If you do, destroy that creature. Those who won't risk their mortality must lose their morality to survive.
sylphiod A clean manland but also one that is very squishy. Ghitu Encampment wins this fight every day, so can stand to be a bit scarier. 6/10As for Eyes, perhaps some "you control"s could simplify it nicely.

"It's absolutely lovely." The girl's hands clumsily attached the brooch to Okus's ribbon. "Surely I must have a charm fitting to return."
Sigil of Protection Enchantment - Aura Enchant permanent If enchanted permanent would leave the battlefield, you may return it to its owner's hand instead. May it light your way to where you belong. aquaumisa This is a bit strange in that when you're not abusing this it's a pretty expensive and weirdly worded "Sacrifice this: Target creature gains indestructible." It is good if you can get the abuse case going, but it's also a two-card Darksteel Plate. I would recommend at least be using indestructible over damage removal. 6/10

I wonder if it could be a bit stronger since its a legend but it is a lord with a permanent buff if I'm reading it right. 9/10
@amercha Okus is startled by the request. Kirino was powerful, but a dangerous mind to wander in. Even the host did not trust her once she flashed a smile. "Another time, maybe. I couldn't bear to be seen without my fancy hat." Okus forced an unconvincing smile and backed away.
Curse Transfer Enchantment Enchant enchantment When Curse Transfer enters the battlefield, you may attach enchanted enchantment to another permanent it can enchant. Plus, it lets me do stuff like this: Rushing Mind - Enchantment - Aura Enchant player. At the beginning of enchanted player's upkeep, they exile the top X cards of their library, where X is the number of Auras attached to them. Enchanted player may play a card exiled by Rushing Mind on each of their turns. Like breaking a spigot and trying to catch all of the water in a thimble.Makes sense, right ?"That's fine, dear. I'll just find another hat - maybe that one that won't try to ride me like a beast?" She gives a more genuine smile to Karina.Curse Transfer makes me giggle. I'm giving it a 10/10, because 'enchant' doesn't look like a real word anymore.

Whenever you cast a noncreature spell, put a +1/+1 counter on CARDNAME. Mirrored Nemesis Enchantment - Aura Enchant creature or planeswalker If one or more counters would be put on another creature or planeswalker, you may have that many counters of that kind put on that permanent and on enchanted permanent instead. Fleur This is a weird one to judge because it's changing so much. The base of a 2/2 permaprowess is solid tho. It does get a knock for being a lot of counter manipulation, but a lighter one because this could easily be a nice arcun in a counter-throwing archetype, 7.5/10

"I think I'll come back later for another try."Impromptu BanConspiracy Hidden Agenda (Start the game with this conspiracy face down in the command zone and secretly choose a card name. You may turn this conspiracy face up any time and reveal that name.)When you turn Impromptu Ban face up, exile each permanent with the chosen name. Players cannot cast spells with the chosen name. Terrors Without triggered my trap card . However, I have to say that I like it quite a bit - it works well with things like Surgical Extraction, against things like madness, flickering, and red's impulse-draw. If you splash some white, it can get punishing with Oblivion Ring effects. It's a hate card that's also an arcun - good work. 10/10

Neottolemo neat cantrip that's like Burnt Offering-lite. This is filtering in black, but black was pretty happy to throw treasure tokens around so this gets a comfortable 9/10. Panic ran through Okus's seams as the elven mercenary said its name. Someone knew it was here, and worse, knew who it was with. If the elf knew, it was a master at disguising it, treating it as though it was any other child from the area. It was probably just another job to him, but Okus couldn't be too careful. It also couldn't let that package slip away though. "Oh, Okus? Yea I've seen her around here. She probably won't be here until tomorrow though, so you can leave it with me if you don't want to wait?" The girls smile looked like she wasn't used to having a mouth as she looked up to the elf.
Improvised Guise Enchantment Whenever a token enters the battlefield under another player's control, you may create a token that's a copy of it. Sacrifice that token at the beginning of your next end step. Lady Mapi ahhshoot, tried to correct so fast forgot the important part Rushing Mind seems pretty difficult to use, player Auras are generally geared towards opponents cause an Aura that enchants yourself is basically a normal enchantment. It does work (though maybe dangerously so) against Curses tho, and even with one or two other Auras it's carrying its weight. However Rushing Mind lets you keep a hold of the exiled cards which doesn't fit red's impulse draw so it gets docked to 7/10, would be an interesting build around once it's more in-color tho! Impromptu Ban is quite brutal, not just for it's meddling capabilities, but it's ability to be a free, one sided, uncounterable, faster-than-instant-speed Armageddon by naming a basic land. Even without that it's a silver bullet that is either quite oppressive or completely useless. Generally you want Conspiracies to be offering small but reliable power, or reward a specific playstyle, and Impromptu doesn't work for either. This one's going to get 5/10 unfortunately :c The Kirino woman knew far more than anyone else, or at least wore it on her sleeve worse. It's like she was sitting in Karina's head too. Okus needed someway to keep her out before she started working her way through its mind too. This cover was too good to lose so soon. Maybe using the girl against her would help pull her attention. "What's wrong, miss Kirino? Did I do something wrong?"
Tinfoil Hat Enchantment - Aura Enchant conspiracy Enchanted conspiracy has "Spells that target one or more permanents you control cost less to cast" and loses all other abilities. Theorists are always quick to point fingers, often when there's not even a conspiracy to be found. fluffydeathbringer nifty enchantment removal that nicely screws with Okus on flavor and mechanics. Can't make any demerits here. 10/10maybe not the greatest counter but responding with an enchantment just feels wrong here.
The vapors from the pangolin's medicine surrounded the girl, the cleansing spells cutting at Okus and his hold on her. For a moment, all went black. "What? Who? Where am I?" And then Okus was back. The pangolin had dropped its defenses, and it didn't know how much damage had already been done. It tried to recover the best it knew how. "That was really icky stuff. I don't like medicine,... armor... kitty? Who are you anyway?" Maybe they wouldn't notice...
Okus, the Fancy Hat Legendary Planeswalker - Okus [+1]: Remove up to two counters from target permanent. [-2]: Target player sacrifices a creature. [-4]: You get an emblem with "If an opponent would gain life, you gain that much life instead." [ 2 ]
Man, today is just not a good day to be Okus : P

Tinfoil Hat Enchantment - Aura Enchant conspiracy Enchanted conspiracy has "Spells that target one or more permanents you control cost less to cast" and loses all other abilities. Theorists are always quick to point fingers, often when there's not even a conspiracy to be found. Oops, Impromptu is supposed to have the standard "not basic lands, tho" clause. She stops, and turns. "You know, hat, I can feel her wriggle in her head whenever you do that." She whispers, and smiles coldly. "Still, I can see what you're doing. Clever, but two can play at that game."
"Oh nothing, deary. You know, your poor mother must be worried sick . Do you live near here?" She continues in a more normal voice. Gasp of Freedom - Instant Each player gains control of each permanent they own. Then each player unattaches each permanent they control that is attached to a card, permanent, or player that they do not own (Each player owns themselves). Go. Be free. Tinfoil Hat amuses me - the one issue is that Conspiracies are in the command zone, so I'm not sure you can enchant them (they aren't permanents). Barring that, it's still a very narrow hoser. It's also an instant win against decks using Advantageous Proclamation ("your deck is now illegal"). I can't give it more than a 5/10.

can't get the response just yet but quick note: auras don't have to be attached to permanents (see Spellweaver Volute or, well, any Curse) There really isn't any ruling for what would happen if you tinfoiled a Advantageous Proclamation, but I'm guessing it wouldn't be game loss. it is a narrow hoser tho yea, impromptu was hard to work around >.>

I'll try to stay away from effects that force people to target my Conspiracies in the future. And that's fair - I realized that, you know, Curses aren't attached to permanents shortly after posting that. Oh well - I'll leave it in so that this exchange makes sense.

HonchkrowDavid Zetla whispered even deeper than the kid. It was less speech and more knowing what Zetla wanted it to know. And she knew. There were beginning to be too many who did. Needed to lay low. She would need to speak again. "W-what do you mean," they stammered, both in awe of the creature. "I mean.. it is a great hat but... I'm..." There was no lying to Zetla. She already had what she wanted. But it might be able to make it hurt.
Mindwrack Enchantment Whenever a spell or ability an opponent controls causes you to discard a card, that player loses 2 life and you gain 2 life. "When you can't win, you better at least give as good as you got."Visible Confusion: A Thoughtseize that trades some punch for some flexibility, noice. Name's a bit wacky out of context but still very good piece, 10/10 Lady Mapi Okus was not used to pain. It connected to as few of those nerves as possible. The last time it had felt something like this, the host was dying. This time, she was waking up. Okus reconnected as quickly as it could the spell pulling it off again and again. A sad smile fell from her face as Okus finally regained control. The tears had remained.
"You are beginning to become a real pain Kirino." Okus growled through the girl's voice. "But you're not the first to try."
"You know who I was before?"
"I was an urchin lost on the streets."
"Fighting rats just to survive another night."
"Mother isn't worried sick, she's worried dead."
"But I don't have to worry about that, as long as I have my fancy hat."
The illusion of the crying girl faded, with the real one fleeing behind her.
Escape Route Enchantment , Sacrifice Escape Route: Exile target nontoken creature and all permanents attached to it. Return those cards to the battlefield under their owner's control at the beginning of the next end step. There is always a backup plan, even if that plan is simply "Run."
Grasp of Freedom is lovely but has pretty glaring flaw in allowing red to wipe Auras. It is very fitting on a Brand effect tho (and allowed for a pretty awesome post) so i'll soften the knock to 7/10
Whatever the empath did left behind more damage than we expected. Than I expected. This might work, though. Too many around here suspect us already, but I can't move yet. Her running through here more often might be useful for improving the cover. As long as I've got control, we'll be okay.

Improvised Guise: You use tokens? Too bad, I have more blockers now! And more, if I can give them haste. This is pretty cool. 9/10
"Afraid that's not possible, miss!" Rekal begins. "I'm responsible for the package actually getting to her, have been paid to..." He then notices Okus's attempt at making the girl smile, and is concerned. "So, what's that grimace then? Are you about to cry? Can't have that, it would slow me down. Alright, then, miss. Here you go." Rekal takes a package with six rectangular face out of a bag and hands it to Okus. "You go and give it to Okus when she comes back. This thing here as well." He hands Okus an envelope from the same bag. "She'd better have someone write back, or the two of us might get in trouble if any of this stuff gets lost! Remember, if that happens, you'll have to back my story, ok? Now, cheer up, will you?"
Once Okus would have opened the package, it would've found mountains of luscious hair of all kinds inside, perfumed with the most varied essences. Inside the envelope, a letter from another hat it knew from its plane of origin, inquiring about Okus's well being, giving news about its own, and explaining the complicated, roundabout process with which it had managed to have the letter delivered to Okus through various intermediaries.

Neottolemo Okus got the feeling its 'smile' was failing but doing better than a real smile and kept it up. "Of course, I'll make sure she gets it!" It waited for a moment for the fast talking elf to sprint off to some other job, then ran off to find a quiet place.
First it turned to the pink envelope. The scribbles on the outside were gibberish to both it and the kid, but the paper told it enough. This was something from home. It wouldn't be much use now, but if someone could read it, there may be a path back yet.
Okus has obtained the Letter from Home. Okus stared in silence a bit too long at the pair. Clearly their attempts to lie low had been an unmitigated failure. But they didn't have to stay that way. They hadn't mentioned it at all, only me. They hadn't run into the empath yet. Or had already dismissed her. Or had already planned for them to think this. Still, the odds were good for once. Okus clutched the letter from home a little tighter in her hands. A place to learn. A place to hide. They looked up to the pair with more confidence.
"I'm in," they grinned, "on one condition."
"I'm keeping the hat."
{Text version} Karina of the Arena Legendary Planeswalker - Okus [+1]: Until your next turn, activated abilities of target nonland permanent can’t be activated. [+1]: Each opponent loses 1 life. You gain life equal to the life lost this way. [-5]: Whenever you cast a spell this turn, each opponent loses life equal to that spell’s converted mana cost. [ 2 ] A constant pain in the neck or a devastating ally? Perhaps time will tell. cyberchronometer Tam does some nice work early without being a slouch later on either. That ult does seem a bit hard to pull value from, but maybe someone can lend a hand there 8/10 The Arena had shown many hands over the past few days. We had made too many mistakes and maybe made some enemies. But now we might have some allies and a ticket home. Memories of its own and from the girl's came flooding back. Cities of danger but also promise. Who knew which lay ahead of us.Okus can now call aid from Ravnica: City of Guilds.

Okus was not used to pain.
It is very fitting on a Brand effect tho (and allowed for a pretty awesome post) so i'll soften the knock to 7/10 You probably notice something wrong when you run headlong into Kirino.Haze of Passion - Instant - Change the target of target activated ability or spell with a single target. In the heat of the moment, it can be difficult to keep your priorities straight. She helps Karina up, and lightly brushes your brim on the way. A brief sliver of telepathic contact opens..o0( I see that I can't really get rid of you without hurting little... Karina? That's a coincidence if I've ever seen one. But yes, slaver, we can continue this another time. )A brief finger of sympathy dodges past your control and rests on the girl's heart, and then the contact breaks. "Careful there, little one - you might hurt yourself. I hope your little hat continues to keep you safe."She walks off, radiating forced calm.Escape Route is pretty great removal and counter-removal. My one concern is the "slow-flicker all of the things attached to it" part - I'm not sure it should be that cheap. I'm giving it an 8/10.
