"Oh, no, I don't mind at all." The Entelan pulls the explosive free of her belt. "Actually, you've made my job much easier by doing that."
The grenadier tosses the explosive device into the air, latches onto it with some kind of spell, and flings it towards the Phyrexian. If the device hits anything with any appreciable velocity, the internal components break and aether contacts the mass of tenebrite inside the explosive, resulting in a detonation of brilliant golden light the size of the one that crumbled the building in EPIC's outpost. Probably also too cheap given the usual cost on these is what you have it costed at when people aren't paying life for it. 6/10 Tenebrite Collapse Sorcery Creatures and planeswalkers you don't control lose indestructible until end of turn. Destroy all creatures and planeswalkers. Tenebrite Collapse: 9/10. I know that indestructible doesn't come up that often, but I do kinda want this to cost 1 more. In the highlands of the Arena, the sound of a metal striking metal rings, as a strange mark appears, suspended in the air, akin to a tear in a cloth, with a night sky visible on the other side. A lightly armored woman steps through this cut, sheathing a blade as she does, the cut closing itself behind her. She carries very little: a sword and a quiver at her waist, a bow on her shoulder, and a small pack on her back. She takes in her surroundings, then begins wandering downhill.
Well, here we are. New plane, new things to fight. Hopefully it won't take too long to find someone worth fighting.
Atlani Swiftblade has entered the Arena.

She goes to try to find the important faerie. The sniper unloads his round from the rifle.
"Right," the grenadier says. "I'm going to give Ani the go-ahead to start inoculating. Clean this place up -- trees'll grow back, whatever, but gotta make sure that oil gets nowhere. Looks like it all evaporated, but, you know."
Karnian Truth is a good name for the Machine Orthodoxy. Makes it a bit awkward to be in blue, though. Maybe fine? 8/10

(Guest system) On an otherwise quiet day on the Arena, Atlani might suddenly find herself in the presence of a meter-tall rat in a purple coat. On his back is a pouch with a visible axe, lyre, and scrolls of paper poking out from it. "Now you looks like a lady who knows what she wants an' has the monies to back it up! What kinda things are ya in the market for? Weapons, spells, potions, poisons? Zweil has anythin' you need!" Traveling Merchant Creature - Rat Cleric , : Target opponent gains control of target permanent you control. That player loses X life and you gain X life, where X is that permanent's mana value. 2/2

Travelling Merchant: 8/10. It's very fun, it seems dangerous. I'm not sure how to rate giving people things, since depending on what you're giving, this seems either too good or meh. "Heh. I can't say I've seen a talking rat before." She motions to her sword and bow, "I have plenty of weapons, but I suppose it couldn't hurt to learn new spells, and poisons would be useful... what do you have?"Bloodcut Ritualist Creature - Human Cleric Whenever an opponent gains life, that player gains 1 less life. Whenever you would lose life except due to damage, you lose 1 less life. 1/3 "The forces of life and death will be brought to a standstill."

Subtlety // Surfeit: 10/10. I'm comparing it to Fatal Push, and this seems like a very fun, versatile alternative. Strangely polite for moving straight into a discussion on poison. That said..."Good afternoon, and yes, actually. I've run out of the venom I was tipping my arrows with, and the larger beasts take much longer to fell without it."Atlani checks the quiver at her hip, and the empty bottles attached to the side of it that used to contain poisons. Focused Stormcaller Creature - Human Shaman Whenever you draw a card except for your first each turn, ~ deals 1 damage to any target. 1/1

The merchant produces a handful of vials from her apron crafted of blue glass. "From plants, I have known curare and aconite to be most effective, for death by respiratory failure and cardiac arrest respectively. Moonglove is less widespread, but can easily destroy living tissues on incision. I have each of these. For more traditional recipes, I carry some that are Hapatran, Pharikan, Jund, and Silumgar, though in limited quantities. The Elderfang are unfortunately too protective of their venom at this time." It is easy for her to smile, discussing that which she has studied with such interest. "For more alchemical options... well, I have never heard of their use with arrows; they were of an entirely different era. So, could any of this plethora be of use to you?" Bane Infusion Instant Target creature gains deathtouch until end of turn. Draw a card.
For use on the stormcaller; it's up to creative interpretation how poison can be used with magic this way.
Focused Stormcaller — Tough call, considering that it hits any target and is easy to split, but is also something that has to be built around. I appreciate the novelty of this particular wording at least. 9/10

Bane Infusion: 9/10.The merchant's enthusiasm proves contagious, as Atlani also grins at all the options available to her. "Well, I cannot say I've heard of all of those places, but Hapatran poisons have served me well in the past, so I suppose I'll buy some of those and some of the... aconite, you said?" The warrior reaches for a coin purse, and begins counting coins collected from various planes. "And, well, as a merchant you might know: How many other planeswalkers are on this plane? In my short time here I've run into more than I'd ever met."Vexing Venom Instant Destroy target creature with one or more abilities. The more you struggle, the faster it kills you.

Convocation Sibyl Creature — Human Druid All creatures have " : Add one mana of any color." 1/1
This should qualify for this venom.
Vexing Venom — This should specify a type of ability; otherwise, it seems to be too general and prone to judge calls. I think it would be a great design if revised however. 7/10

Convocation Sibyl: 10/10. Cryptolith Rite but for everybody is interesting, feels like it could be interesting for EDH politics, and seems appropriately costed. Atlani mirrors Lettie's apparent sadness, though a bit more awkward, her face betraying regret for having asked. Upon the merchant's return, Atlani pays for the poisons, carefully packs them away, then returns to face Lettie. "That should last for a good while. Hopefully until the end of winter. Oh, but if I do need more, is there a shop I should visit?"

Artifact Whenever you tap a nonland permanent for mana, it produces that much mana plus one of that color instead. Lettie notes that the hunter has been to Amonkhet; she briefly wonders if that was before or after the hour of devastation—and Lettie doesn't register Atlani's show of sympathy at all. "Normally, I would direct you to the location next to Atlas Bakery, but that one is, let's say, closed for the time being. You can meet me at many other shops, however..." and she gives the hunter a brief description of the closest ones. With a last "Good day, Madame," the merchant departs.
Prospect Amplifier — I believe you want Kinnan's wording for this. I'm not entirely certain this is fair as an artifact, but it's a good response. 8/10

Having packed away her new poisons, Atlani sits back down on a log near a fire pit.
"Twenty six planeswalkers..." Atlani shakes her head, and looks at her blade. "Surely we'll find an enjoyable fight here."
Agreed. Let's hope that this 'Arena' lives up to its name.

Arc stepped through the archway, taking note that he wasn't alone. Normally he would ignore the common riff raff. But this woman seemed to draw his attention. her presence was gripping. He was sure she was like him, capable of traveling between planes. The next thing he noticed was her posture betrayed a fighter of skill. The mask over his lower face hid the smile that tempted the corners of his mouth. "Hello there!" He said. "Care for some fun?" Arc settled into a relaxed defensive position to show his point. Sparring Partner Creature-Human Fighter Sparring Partner can't attack or block alone. 2/2

Plus, Fighter isn't a creature type that's been used before. Which is weird, considering we do have Warrior, Knight, and Soldier. Maybe we'll get Fighter in the Forgotten Realms set. Arc was elated. His first bout and it was about to be amazing. With a flash of speed, he initialized his attack. Dashing forward he rained a flurry of blows toward the woman's head chest and shoulders. An efficient warrior did not distinguish gender when attacking. Nor did he disrespect the woman by pulling his punches. "Where am I from?" arc continued the conversation in a calm clear voice as if the match was being watched rather than fought. "A long way from here. I wouldn't be able to be specific as before I traveled here..." Arc lashed a kick out towards the outside of one of his opponents knees, trying to weaken her stance. "...I was unaware of the existance of planes and their correlation" Arc leapt high over the defenders head, corkscrewing to land facing her again. He kept an eye out for weapons, just in case. they hadn't really settled on terms so he wouldn't begrudge her a use of a weapon. "...to each other. Watch your feet. But as much of myself as I would like to keep secret, I will say that I came from a realm of warriors, and endless war." Tripsnare Artifact Attacking creatures without flying get -1/-1

It's either too cheap or needs to be -2/-0 instead of -1/-1, or both. It is clear that whatever fighting style Atlani is using, it is not one that Arc is familiar with. She blocks many of his strikes, dodging some, and pulling back from his kick, only taking two hits. She watches carefully as he jumps over her, then listens intently to hear him land. He sees a sword at her hip, and a bow and quiver resting on the ground nearby. The quiver has several vials attached to it. "Ah. Then we are not from dissimilar planes. But, do you not use weapons on your plane, or do you simply not have any?" Atlani spins, briefly leaving the ground, aiming to kick Arc in the head. If she lands, she lands facing to the left of Arc, and will kick with the other foot, the momentum of which will leave her facing him. But functionally I think the first line wants to be green. Because if it has no abilities, then wouldn't the goal be to copy the creature with the biggest stats? "So I see," Atlani says with a smirk as the decoy falls apart. She picks up a piece of ice, inspecting it to figure out by what kind of magic she was tricked. She turns to face Arc. "I had thought that your strategy was reckless, but I see now that there was strategy behind it. I'll have to see about getting an ice pick, should we ever fight again." Finished with the investigation of the ice, she mindlessly tosses the chunk of the false-Arc's head to the ground. "But, moving on, you are new to planeswalking, yes? Are you testing my strength due to pure curiosity, or is there some cause you mean to recruit me to?" She gestures towards a poster on the wall that promotes her work as a mercenary. Grim Analysis Sorcery Draw a card for each creature that left the battlefield this turn. Grim Analysis: So I kinda want this at instant speed. I feel like it loses a bunch of opportunities to be really good at sorcery speed. That being said it still functions well for what it's purpose is. it makes a lot of sense to be in black, and honestly it kinda has a phantom "sacrifice a creature: draw a card" feel to it. At the same time analyzing a kill gives a lot of flavor to your character. All around good card. 10/10Arcanis Stepped closer seeing that the fight seemed to reach a conclusion. He had shown a little of him, She had demonstrated a bit of her and Arc was happy to leave it there. "Haha yes I'm sure there will be more opportunities to test each other's mettle. But yes I am new to this ability to planeswalk... sort of. I can explain that when we are a bit more acquainted. I am fairly new to this plane and honestly," Arc spread his arms and turned around, "I am without a decent blade or weapon currently. And, well, without much coin either. Which is why I have been doing a bit of exploring, and a bit of, mmm, testing of the local powers that be. I'm taking jobs myself in fact." Arc said gesturing to the poster himself. "As much as I'd like to recruit such a capable person such as yourself, I doubt you would work under me in my current state." Arc tapped a finger to his chin in thought. "Perhaps you would consider a friendly alliance? Though I should probably warn you, I kill as an occupation. I do have standards however, I am not psychotic. This is too expensive to be a tutor. With a little bit of tweaking, this could be "and put it onto the battlefield." Maybe instead of 4 and 5 it could be 5 and 6? "Yes, I suppose a lack of coin would make it difficult to hire me. As for an alliance..." Atlani looks down, in thought, "Well. It's been some time since I entered one just for the fun of it. I make no promises, though it has been some time since I've had friends. They're unfortunately difficult to keep when one doesn't stay on the plane for too long. And, killing isn't a dealbreaker, we're both killers here. And the standards in killing are a boon for the relationship, if anything." She moves forward to meet Arc halfway across the room, looking curiously at the ring, and chuckling as he stumbles over his words. "They have a different name for mana on your homeplane, do they? I'll accept the gift, but I'll turn it into a trade." She reveals a dagger, still in its leather sheath. The leather is a navy blue, and the hilt of the blade is darker, practically black. The contrast between the dark sheath and the bright, straight, six inch blade, makes it look all the brighter. Carved into the blade is the image of a sunrise. "Something to wield until you get a proper weapon. Do you have a name?"Delicate Strike Instant You may pay and sacrifice an artifact rather than pay ~'s mana cost. Arc Looked down at the blade in his hand. A gift of a blade in his culture was... intimate. He recognized that it wasn't the intention of the warrior. At least he didn't think it was. But any warrior gifting a blade should know the importance of the gesture. Arc Stepped back a few paces. Drawing out the six inch blade and examining the blade, he hefted it's weight. It was a good blade, a superb one. Drawing in his inner focus he poured his will into the blade. With a quick slash from his left shoulder across and down toward the ground, the room erupted in a gale force wind as the blade created a sonic boom. After a moment the breeze died out and the room quieted once more. "This is an excellent weapon. One that suits me. My gratitude will be returned I promise. My name is Arcanis." Even though the wind and noise had died out the blade still hummed with it's lethality. Arc returned the blade to it's sheath and placed it on his belt, positioned horizontally on his back.
