cajun The guard clears their throat, before continuing. "Your observation is...correct. A maze that does not permit you to exit is contradictory to its purpose." The guard quickly conjured a set of runes, dabbling with them before dismissing them once more. "Rule number 2. A participant in the trial shall stay within the limits of the maze's path at all times. Entries and exits to and from the maze are included in the limits of the maze." {Response Card - Summary Annotation} Summary Annotation - Instant - Change the text of target spell or permanent by replacing all instances of "discard' with "draw", and all instances of "draw" with "discard." A law that works against its purpose is not a law, but a hindrance. Tormented Thoughts: I'm a little confused, but I think I get it. You discard then draw for each source that dealt damage, which is significantly less broken than basing on damage, and also red. Interesting idea, I'd imagine aggro decks would love this after leaving their border open. 8/10 for wording issues.

A participant in the trial shall stay within the limits of the maze's path at all times. Entries and exits to and from the maze are included in the limits of the maze." I frown at the change to the rule. Why would you go in if you weren't supposed to get out? And, wait a minute...
"Don't the first two rules kinda mean the same thing? You can't leave the trial, you can't leave the maze? Why do you need to say it twice?"
// Karina looks around the room, which she still seems to be the only other one in. Maybe everyone she wasn't supposed to 'engage' with was already inside?Repetition Trap Instant Exile target instant or sorcery card from a graveyard. Up to one target spell becomes a copy of that card. Its controller may choose new targets for that spell. Whenever a player casts a spell this turn, it becomes a copy of the exiled card, and its controller may choose new targets for it. "Let's do that again!" "Let's do that again!" "Let's do that again!" Summary Annotation - hrm. has a few issues, first being i think this is B or maybe UB, since it's a discard spell in a lot of cases. This also gets into weird cases with say, Wheel of Fortune becoming "Each player draws their hand, then discards seven cards." Think this would need to be a replacement effect, like "If a spell or ability would cause a player to draw or discard a card, that player discards a card instead of drawing a card or draws a card instead of discarding a card." 5/10

cajun The guard listened as Karina pointed out the obvious logical error, and repeated their gesture, before speaking once more. "Rule of the Trial: A participant may take any path within the boundaries of this room to complete the trial." A low rumbling was heard as a bridge began to form, stretching over the twisted maze and connected where the stairs would have lead down to it. Across the room, a brazier lit into purple flame, an indication where she was to go next. "Order is built on laws. Laws are built on needs. People follow the laws to fulfill their needs. If laws are created that hinder, or act against the needs of the people, then the people will, and should not, follow these laws. You have recognized the laws of this trial acted in contradiction to the premise, and changed them to suit the need of the trial." The guard smiled, before quickly fading into the aether. "Well done." {Response Card - Token of Order} The path to the brazier was clear. Karina was free to continue on her way. She'd feel a weight form in her pocket, and find an amulet had snuck it's way in. Repetition Trap: Since it's not actually a trap, I'm a bit disappointed (Repetition Snare would have also been good). I like the idea of this card, but the headache of exiling your last Repetition Trap is making my headspin. 7/10

mrlozano The ogre, surprisingly, didn't even attempt to dodge, almost welcoming the attack on it as Rixos went it for the heart. The blade pierced the flesh, but didn't even sink in a third of the blade's length before stopping, the ogre's only response being a grunt, and a his free hand grabbing Rixos. {Response Card - Pitiless Ogre} Carelessly, the ogre threw Rixos back, hard, sending him sliding across the stone and dirt of the arena floor, before roaring at his competitor. "I can feel more pain than you tiny human! My skin tough! Yours is weak!" As Rixos falls to the ground the sound of broken bones becomes audible to everyone. The guy coughs blood, as he tries to breathe, feeling a rib pressing against his lungs. "My skin tough! Yours is weak!" The voice inflincts pain in Rixos' ears, his head also damaged by the hit. He tries to stand up, but the damage is unbeareable. He finally puts his back agains the wall, hearing the crowd cheer the ogre, as he comes near to make a destructive blow. "Now... it's my turn to inflict you pain..." Rixos says, getting on his feet with problems.Beneath his clothes, invisible to his opponent or the excited crowd, a black slimy thing comes out of a pocket. Rixos' pores open as the thing goes inside his body.Rixos convulses and vomits in the arena. His nose starts to bleed, and he blacks out for a second, but the he regains conscience. His eyes are now orbs of pure black and he smiles while walking towards the ogre. "Our turn, indeed."Cellular Regeneration Instant Target creature you control gets +2/+0 and gains indestructible until end of turn. You won't like the aftermath.Pitiless Ogre: Black is tertiary in First strike, so this is a slight bend. A dark figure appeared suddenly within the flames, orange eyes peering out from within. "Well done Karina Oblay. You've complete the first of three Trials." Just follow the road up that way, and you'll get there in no time. Good luck, trial runner!" The path to the next trial is simple, and seems to lead into a park within the city's interior. What the trial entailed, however, was still a mystery. {Response Card - Overwhelming Impulse} Impulse Modulator: My first impression was this needed a red mana cost to it, but then I realized we get artifacts that care about one color sometimes without that mana being a cost on the card. cajun The speaker, more than surprised to see a child, had just finished their announcement to the audience when Karina walked up to her. After hearing her questions, she quickly collected herself, and answered Karina's questions. "This is the Trial of Solidarity. People are taking the trials to prove themselves worthy to our goddess, The One of Many Titles. And..." The woman was about to speak more, when Karina showed off her Token from the previous Trial. She seemed surprised, more than before, but quickly collected herself, although a bit more off put than before. "That is...a mark of your success in a Trial. That crystal...I'm not familiar with." "As for the peak of the city, it should be obvious." She gestured above and behind herself, to a tall building situated above the rest of the city. "Our goddess has been saying all who succeed today will go there. From what I understand, it's where they will meet her personally...although I think it's a little farfetched." She paused, looking over Karina once more. "Are you sure you want to do this trial? You seem a little young." {Response Card - Trial of Solidarity} Inquire: Man, we've been making a lot of Browbeats today. This is more interesting than it first appears, but honestly the correct option is just to always show your hand if you don't have the card. 6/10 mrlozano The crier looked a bit surprised to see Rixos return, but quickly gave them directions. "Around here," he said, pointing towards a district in the middle section of the city. "Merchants are crawling over the place, they'll probably try to shill you before you even get there. Good luck." {Response Card - Pointed Directions} Pointed Directions - Sorcery - Name a basic land type. Reveal the top five cards of your library. Put a land card from among them into your hand. If the land is the basic land type, instead put it onto the battlefield tapped. Put the rest of the cards revealed this way on the bottom of your library in any order. Exhausted Combatant: No rarity, so I'll presume it's common, and it seems alright. If it were a higher rarity, I'd give it lifelink. 6/10 Parasign Initially, VIA's sensors reveal little to her. The park is standard Arena flora, perhaps grown and planted in a specific way to produce an aesthetic effect. From the sensors, it seems that the plants surrounded VIA in a complete... Circle. The path she had used was closed off. And the plants that were there now were giving off some strange readings. " VIA. You've have entered the Trial of Adaptation." Spoke a booming voice, seemingly from all around her. "Within this forest, you will face dangers. And you will likely succeed. And then face the same danger again. But it will have adapted to you, to your tactics. And it will not suffer a lax hunter." The voice was familiar, authoritative, loud, and definitely belonging to someone who would claim godhood. "Face the dangers of this forest, and find the brazier of purple flame within. If you succeed. You will be one step closer...to me."
{Response Card - Trial of Adaptation} "Good luck." The forest shuffled, the plants began to move, and the sound of distant beasts began to creep into the grove. Where to next, a path! It hadn't been there before, but if she was going to beat this trial. It was her only hope... Impromptu Map: Weak artifact, with no interesting pay off. 3/10

Popcornia Trial of Adaptation: Should be "it becomes a 0/0 Elemental creature", I think. Feels more green than blue to me, though I guess blue does counters and land animation too. I like how the ability works well with the Formidable trigger and playing this multiple times, though that does make it feel quite snowball-y in a way that could be problematic in Limited. 9/10.Fair enough. Might as well get the obvious answer out of the way first.VIA continues along the path, probes scouting ahead to search for the brazier of flame and any threats on the way.

cajun The speaker, more than surprised to see a child, had just finished their announcement to the audience when Karina walked up to her. You seem a little young."
"Oh, neat!" I said, putting the amulet on next to Hyle's pearls. I moved the crystal to my bag. Maybe Rixos would buy it later.
"Um, maybe? Rudara said that I should try them. The last one didn't seem to bad. What do you do in this one?"Mark of Achievement Artifact Mark of Achievement enters the battlefield tapped. : Add one mana of any color. Spend this mana only to cast a spell that shares a type with a permanent you control. Trial of Solidarity - bit spoopy with how easy this is to recur, but the anthem isn't that bad i guess? 8/10
(if the answer's like "go in and find out" Karina will go in. If there's an actual answer she'll hear it out.) (if you dunno how to interact, I control an artifact, a creature, and a planeswalker rn)

The crier looked a bit surprised to see Rixos return, but quickly gave them directions. "Around here," he said, pointing towards a district in the middle section of the city. "Merchants are crawling over the place, they'll probably try to shill you before you even get there. Good luck." {Response Card - Pointed Directions}Pointed Directions - Sorcery - Name a basic land type. Reveal the top five cards of your library. Put a land card from among them into your hand. If the land is the basic land type, instead put it onto the battlefield tapped. Put the rest of the cards revealed this way on the bottom of your library in any order. Rixos heads to the district, with both tokens hanging in his neck. He realizes that they attract the attention of some people, so he decides to hid them under his clothes. After getting to the point, he looks over his surroundings for a purple flame.Plaza of the GodessLand - Plains Swamp (: Add or .)When ~ enters the battlefield, you may pay . If you don't, return ~ to your hand at the beginning of your next end step. The pressence of the Godhead can be felt in the air.Pointed Directions: One mana ramp spells are always nice, and this isn't an exception. 7/10

Parasign The plants, did in fact. Burn. Clearing a path through the foliage, VIA found that the plants hadn't considered a resistance to fire, allowing her easy traversal to another clearing. Except she wasn't alone this time, staring her down was a feline creature, with a multitude of blossoms sprouting from its mane and back. The fire seemed to have caught up to it, but it hardly looked perturbed as the flames licked at the ground around it...in fact, the flames seemed repelled by the beast in question. It adopted a threatening pose, baring teeth at VIA. {Response Card - Blooming Caracal } The forest had adapted. Now it was her turn. Rusted Flamethrower: Interesting, but I think it's weak enough to let you untap anytime for tapping two red creatures. Siege-Gang Commander lets you do something similar. I like the flavor though. 7/10 cajun The woman was...shocked, to say the least, when Karina spoke Rudara's name aloud. For the third time today she had to gather herself, very clearly surprised by the last few minutes. "If her Emminence has decided you are worthy, then there's nothing I can say against her." She gave a weak smile, before gesturing to the building. "Inside, you'll be testing your mind and wits...but perhaps not how you'll be expecting to. I really can't say more. Good luck." {Response Card - Work of the Masses } Work of the Masses Instant - As you cast Work of the Masses, tap any number of creatures you control. Target creature you control gets +1/+1 for each creature tapped to cast Work of the Masses. If you tapped three or more creatures, it gets lifelink. If you tapped five or more. It gets indestructible. Hands held together do more than hands kept to themselves. Mark of Achievement: A better Manalith in most scenarios, it's a decent uncommon. 8/10 mrlozano The crier had not been lying, this placed was filled to the brim with hucksters, peddlers, and other merchants of various reputations wanting to sell something. Amidst all of these people, buyers and sellers, it would be definitely hard to find the... "Want to buy your way out?" asked a random peddler, seemingly appearing from nowhere next to Rixos. They had a smile a mile long, and in their palm was looked to be a trinket of some sort. It looked very similar to the ones he had collected so far, and seemed to match the description of one meant for the Trial of Innovation... "Bagh, that's a fake!" said another peddler, butting in next to the first one. "This one is the real deal," she offered, holding out a distinctly different trinket, but nonetheless, fitting the description. They both seemed to have their own trinkets, could either, if any, be the right one? Or was this a part of the Trial? And what did it have to do with Innovation? {Response Card - Trial of Innovation} Plaza of the Goddess: Hmm, not sure how to judge this. It's clearly useful given those basic land types, but at the same time the return clause is uncharted water. It is a middle ground between the all color cards where you pay 1 or sacrifice it, but how powerful it is tied with the types is hard to tell. 7/10, I like the idea, I just can't rate it completely perfectly.

Lady Mapi Rudara listened intently to his explanation, more so than she had to anything else had ever had to say to her. It appeared he had caught her attention. Until he returned to being coy and ever so flirtatious. "Very well." Seemingly at the right moment, a different agent walked in, wearing clothing more befitting of a person from an academic setting. "Escort this one to a place where they can practice their craft and rest. And have the plans we discussed copied and sent to him as well." Rudara looked back to Mattol, expression once more a stranger to her. "We'll discuss payment later. I'm sure you can wait, given who it is that is paying you." {Response Card - Aggressive Expansion} Mana Fountain: Is a Pyretic Ritual but lets you give mana to other people and yourself. Given it's an instant, you can ramp someone else on their turn, which I like. 9/10

"The trial can't be so easy... But that would be, in fact, innovative." Rixos looks at both men, without being able to decide. "Where did you find these amulets. And speak in order." Also, Rixos looks closer to the amulets and smiles. Start Plan B.Reveal Truths Instant Exile target artifact or enchantment. If you cast this spell during your main phase, draw a card. PopcorniaBlooming Caracal: I like the growth-from-noncombat-damage, though I'd prefer single color density so it's easier to play with red cards. This could probably be uncommon; compare Hungering Hydra, which isn't quite the same but has similar combo potential. The final ability seems unnecessary; how often are you going to still have (and need) extra lands after your four-mana creature takes damage? I think the first ability has the potential to be interesting enough on its own. 8/10.VIA stares down the beast. Conditioned for aggression, hmm? Still, it's a beautiful creature. It would be a shame to have to kill it.Her arm whips forward, and a small dart emerges from her wrist to puncture the beast's flesh.Tranquilizer Dart Artifact , , Sacrifice ~: Tap target creature. It doesn't untap during its controller's next untap step. If you control two or more blue permanents, draw a card.

"Excellent - don't worry, I'll get your eyes right this time. I did get a better look at them, after all."
I followed the servant out and waited for the plans.Impractical Tome - Artifact - When Impractical Tome enters the battlefield, choose a color. Change the text of all spells and permanents by replacing each instead of that color word with "colorless". Whenever a player would add two or more mana of the chosen color, they add that much instead. "Your paintings shouldn't use purple - it's a particularly ugly color."Naming Red for Impractical Tome, and I'd like you to respond with a non-Red card that you can somehow play without colored mana. Aggressive Expansion is... you edited this card, I think? I seem to recall that it used to be a "whenever" that gave you infinite mana for tapping a land. Good catch if you did . As it stands, it's a pretty nasty lock if you've got a Bazaar Trader or Harmless Offering on hand. On the one hand, I like those shenanigans - on the other, that's a tad too good of a lockdown. 8/10
