"Hello again Karina. Your arrival now is convenient." Behind Karina, the familiar voice of Rudara was heard. If she were to turn back, Karina would see the figure...but no one else would notice her. Walking through the city brought back memories of wandering through Festenya, though a little scarier because I wasn't used to anywhere or anyone. I kept my bag close and a tight hand on my spear. Unlike Festenya, I could leave if I needed to. There were hints of Rudara everywhere, but not enough to really figure out what was happening.
Even during that display.
"Rudara?" I turn around to face her, and the questions all tumble out all out once before I can stop them. "What's do you mean? What's going on? What's a trial of Eternity? Why do I have your eye? What does that even mean? Why did you tell Pidge instead of me?"Barrage of Questions Enchantment Whenever you cast a spell, draw a card unless an opponent pays . Every answer just asks another question. Mystic Path is lovely. 10/10

cajun Rudara was not one to be expressive with her emotions. But Karina's questions...brought the faintest hint of a smile. "Let us begin with the last one." Rudara gestured to her right, and began walking in the path directed. "You're unusually difficult to find. Your associate Pidge just happened to be passing through when I encountered her. Simple convenience." "As for why you have my eye...you're an intriguing person for how young you are. I doubt many of your age carry spears with them wherever they wander. And perhaps, there's just a bit more to you than that...""And as for this," the goddess gestured upwards to the city, her arms open as she looked skyward. In the distance, the lights of further braziers were burning, and a fevered activity had taken over the city. "It's the beginning of something wonderful." "It's the leading event to my appearance. These people need a guide in this land, and I have come to lead them into the uncertain future." She turned her attention back to Karina, her face almost...glowing with pride. "Forever." {Response Card - Leyline of Order} "Some will fail, others will almost succeed. But those who endure, and make their way through all the trials, will be my new champions in this world." Barrage of Questions: Rhystic Study but reversed. Interesting, and a lot more manageable. Still sort of a rude card. 9/10

Lady Mapi Rudara looked to the furious knight, whose scowl quickled shriveled under the gaze of his in real life goddess, which he took as a sign to release his firm grip from Mattol, and exit the room. Rudara's eyes tracked him as he left, before returning to Mattol. "You would have been better treated had you deserved it," answered Rudara, following a moment of silence on her part. "You stole away into my sanctum. Left a 'gift' for anyone to see, and..." her words hung in the air as she stepped closer to the offending artificer, the goddess leaning forward to match his gaze... "You had my eyes wrong." ...Did Rudara just, crack a joke? "As for your gift, or, what's left of it, I've done away with it. I don't appreciate certain perspectives you took on our first encounter." Rudara had conveniently placed herself where Mattol would be able to look where he had left is gift. ....it was not hanging there, and the stones it had secured itself to had a nice, ashy coating. {Rsponse Card - Outsourced Saboteurs } {let's just say we're dealing with the same unbreakable pane, even though it had hexproof last time.}"I must admit though, for an annoyance such as yourself, you have excellent craftmanship, if sloppy execution," Rudara continued aware of where she was standing. "However, I think you have some potential."
Wild Artistry: Taking a page from Madcap Experiment, without the obvious backlash, and that you basically get a choice of an artifact...okay this is more like a Progenitus Wave. Neat idea for an aritfact polymorph, it's probably fine. 10/10 because i'm procrastinating about applying to grad school (which is due in 16 days no worries hahaha) My grin doesn't break.
"It's nice that you agree with the consensus there. Granted, I think you're wrong about the sloppiness. I mean, I could have executed your eyes flawlessly - I have the spectra down to a precision indistinguishable from reality. But, my dear Rudara, I do have this naughty little thing called 'artistic integrity'."
My cloud idly arranged itself geometrically, and then did it again more quickly. And again. And again. And again. A droning hum covered the sounds of our conversation from outside observers. I dropped my voice to a whisper, easily audible to Rudara and Rudara alone.
"As for your sanctum... it's incredibly exposed to anyone out in the Blind Eternities. You might as well hung out a welcome mat. If you can't fix it yourself, I suggest that you move - not everyone will just want to drop off presents."
The cloud fumbled it's way into a large mirror. The hum stopped, and I raised my voice again.
"Of course, artistic integrity says nothing about actual paid commissions... so I'm all ears."Artistic Integrity - Instant - Artistic Integrity can't be countered. The next artifact spell you cast this turn can be cast as though it had flash. That spell can't be countered. Credo of the Ruler - Rudara's a creative lady, and she obviously has access to alternative solutions. Please make a response that doesn't directly remove artifacts. Outsourced Saboteurs is noice. I'm not sure about that flavortext, but otherwise it fits quite nicely into the design space. A 9/10.

Then that player may pay , where X is the amount of mana you paid. If they don't, draw two cards, then discard a card. 1/3 Leyline of Order - the four-mana mode of this is unexciting but probably fair? the free mode of this on the other hand's a bit ridic, t1 acceleration gets nasty in a hurry. 6/10

Lady Mapi One of Rudara's brows raised ever so slightly when he spoke of the Blind Eternities, quickly returning to its usual, unraised position once Matoll had concluded his attempt to mask their conversation. "I have not heard of these Blind Eternities. Are they a group? A place?" She paused, a faint look of suspicion growing on her face. "Do they pertain to being a...planeswalker?" Rudara stepped away from Matoll, making her way to a desk at the side of her sanctum. "As for your integrity," she continued, letting her previous questions hang as she casually flipping through a book, "I don't intend to request anything akin to your...earlier work. I have no such interest in that. My interest lies more in how irritatingly resilient your crafts are. I would benefit greatly from your services, my city has need of more...appropriate depictions of myself. Depictions that resist more than a stone's throw."
{Response Card - Metallic Coercion } "And though I know you'll enjoy it greatly, I must request your services for such a task." Artistic Integrity: A Savage Summoning for artifacts, sans the counter. A very good attempt at broadening the borders of already existing concepts. 10/10

Rixos is preparing his equipment, looking at his coat and making sure everything is alright. "I think I'm going to miss the Arena." But there is something he can't get out of his head. The conversation with the Ominous has left him considering the cost of his actions, again (And the 7CI warning is always loaming over him). And he fears he has commited a grave error. Rixos enters the city with his coat covering most of his body and the hood on his head. Even his hand are covered with gloves. He passes the guards in the doors unnoticed, and ventures through the streets. A preacher (a madman, all preachers are mad, in Rixos' opinion) is talking about a godess, with an unlit brazier behind him. Rixos stops to watch, and the brazier ignites, as the preacher continues. "Probably simple pyromancy. A trick to fool this idiots." The commoners near him hear his words, and that gets him a few irritated gazes."The first flame is lit. The trials of Eternity begin." That sounds interesting, but Rixos doesn't have time for this right now. Maybe in another travel. The merchant enters the dark alleys, following the map that was given to him. He can feel the shadows whatching his back. A blade is hanging in his belt, an elegant rapier, adorned, but with a cutting edge. He gets to the place of his last encounter with the interloper, backs against a wall and says to the shadows: "I have some information for your master. Another religion... that has probably been unnoticed by him." Then he takes an unlit cigarrete from a pocket and waits (he thinks he looks really tough).

mrlozano A few moments pass. Then several more. Than another set of moments in a multiple of ten. The shadows don't move, no hooded agents emerge from around a corner. No portals to other worlds open. Rixos is simply standing in a dark underground chamber. Alone. It would almost seem as if there was no one here to see or hear him, when a brazier, burning hot purple fire, erupted across an underground canal. When had that been there? Why was it burning? And why...was there so much more space? Looking around, the chamber had shifted in it's proportions. Some corners had shrunk, others expanded, and the entrance to it had definitely been snared away. When he didn't look at it, it was almost as if the floor was moving beneath him. "Welcome. Rixos Ker," the same voice from earlier spoke, looking towards him from the burning brazier, "to the Trial of Deceit! In this trial, the only truth you can rely, is that there is no truth." {Response Cad - Trial of Deceit } Dark Alley Pretender: Interesting name, and interesting effects. The first one is just Afflict though, so minor points off for that one. Otherwise, 8/10

cajun Rudara's amused look didn't fade, despite the questioning. "I see that more answers bring further questions. Perhaps, an example will better suite your confusion." Rudara's path seemed to take them just a tad to the right of where they had been heading. And... ...suddenly, the air was much different, as the two walked into a completely different part of the city. Where before they had been walking in a lower, perhaps slightly unkempt district, now the buildings here gleamed with light. Fewer people walked these streets, and signs of Rudara's influence were more refined. Cries replaced by religious speakers. Banners replaced by statues. And before the, was yet another brazier, unlit, yet a crowd from people around the city had assembled. Situated in front of a tall, but square building, Karina would pick up on the woman's speech. "It has come for you, if you wish to engage in the Trials of Eternity, to enter the building behind me. Within is a maze that will test your adherence to the foundation of our city. Of our Godhead's power and her worship. If you wish to become one of her champions, you shall complete this Trial to the best of your ability." The woman paused, as she looked upon the assembled crowd, hands held together, similar to how Rudara clasped her extra arms forward. "If you still wish to attempt this trial, proceed!" {Response Card - Trial of Order} Rudara gestured towards the Trial grounds, and the people assembled. "Go on. Show me what you can do." Her voice was encouraging, but it was clear this was almost an order. Karina, the Questioning: I really like this card because it's basically an answer to "What if you opponent had nothing worthwhile to counter this turn?" Very good, but I'd imagine it can get to Rhystic Study levels of annoyance. 10/10

Rixos takes off the hood and throws the cigar away, still unlit. It seems like the disguise has failed. Time to run Plan B.Rixos draws the sword, holding it with one hand, and starts drawing a warding rune with the other. He thinks about opening a portal and fleeing, but both curiosity and a sense of responsability prevail. "Let's start. I'm ready."
Rixos, Trial Runner Legendary Planeswalker - Rixos Whenever an opponent draws a card, put a loyalty counter on ~. : Each player draws a card and loses 1 life. : Each opponent loses life equal to the number of cards in their hand plus the number of cards in your hand.
Trial of Deceit: Reminds me of Disinformation Campaign, and that card was pretty oppresive in Arena. This one seems far better in multiplayer, in an EDH game you can use the second ability instantly and that makes me feel worried. In other formats 6 mana is a lot though... Also, the part of making creatures unblockable should certainly cost more than one mana. It would probably be better at 3UB, but it's kinda flavorful, so bonus points for that. 7/10

mrlozano The figure in the fire seemed to nod, and the room warped once more. What had been a short canal stretched into a raging river, the chamber Rixos was standing in now seeming to shrink, the stones of the walls and floor grinding as dust shook from the ceiling. The brazier had moved far away from Rixos, now opposite of a massive river, yet the voice still spoke as if it were right next to him. Whatever plan he had come up with, it would require severe modification. {Response Card - Illusionary Battleground} "Reach the fire. Show me you can discern between truth and falsehood."
Rixos, Trial Runner: Interesting, definitely taking advantage of that WAR rare walker format. However, this Rixos builds way to fast for my liking. It takes 2 turns to put him at 8, and his ult is very good, too good. I'd suggest you redo the passive, as this can do major life loss extremely fast. 6/10

I suppose I can use a raft... Nope, I sold it..." Then, things started clicking into it's place. The fire, the preacher, the teleportation, the trial... Rixos closed his eyes and walked into the raging water. Leap of Faith Instant Target creature you control gets +1/+1 and gains flying until end of turn. When that creature dies this turn, return it to the battlefield under your control with a +1/+1 counter on it. "There was never a Plan C."It's a figurative leap, but you get the point. The figure in the brazier looked on at Rixos, making no expression as he stepped into the water... ...and was perfectly fine. The water surged around his body, still flowing at a deadly rate towards an inky darkness. Across the canal, a staircase had formed, leading back up towards the burning brazier. {Response Card - Contradictory Illusion} Leap of Faith: Already a card name Leap of Faith but similar idea coincidentally. Probably fine, Undying Evil is just one mana, so this probably works as an uncommon. 8/10

cajunRudara watched as Karina joined the people who were walking into the building, before shortly disappearing, perhaps with her own business to attend to. The building housing the Trial was square, with a white sheen that made it hard to look at when the sun shone at an angle. It's doors were wide open, with a blue glow from the interior leaking to the outside. A few sentries were at either side of the door watching as Karina, and others eventually made their way inside. ...which as much larger than the exterior suggested. Below them at the foot of a long staircase, was a maze that stretched far back and far to either side. Flying high in the impossible chamber, were what appeared to be humanoid sentries, observing the trial from high above. Possibly looking for those who would break the rules of the maze. Karina would find she was on her own, the other people she had definitely entered with had disappeared. Before she could question it further, a figure walked up to her, dressed definitely like a guard. "Challenger of the Trial of Order. Here the rules before you enter! 1. Do not leave the boundaries of this Trial. 2. Stay within the maze at all times. 3. Do not engage with others in the maze. This is your trial, and your trial alone." "If you're looking for adversity, you'll probably require a map. They're all over the place and, oh! It seems this is my last one." The crier handed Rixos a sheet of paper, detailing the city, with several points highlighted where other trials were. The Trial of Ferocity. The Trial of Order. The Trial of Sacrifice... "Oh, I think you're looking for this one," the crier spoke, pointing to a lower part of the map, in a district with it's named scratched out. The trial in question was... "The Trial of Pain." Runner of Adversity: Haste is not an Orzhov keyword, and it's tertiary even in black. Hexproof from three colors also reads as a hate card, even if normal hexproof wouldn't. I know, it's weird. I'd be fine with just hexproof from red or green, but even then it seems a bit much for this card. 6/10

"If you're looking for adversity, you'll probably require a map. "The Trial of Pain." "The Trial of Pain... It doesn't sound like the most welcoming, but I think that's the way. Thank you." Rixos wasn't sure if the man still believed in his facade, but one is never too cautious. "And may our godess guide your way."Rixos followed the map, paying atention to the city. The iconography of its new godess was clear, and he was sure he wasn't the only one competing in the trials. He hoped this godess wasn't something evil, and if it was, that he would be able to stop her before everything went too out of hand. Finally, he arrived to his destination. He touched the sigil, ashe looked his surroundings for a brazier. That seemed like the symbol.Rixos, Master of Deceit Legendary Planeswalker - Rixos At the begining of your upkeep target creature you don't control gets -1/-1 until end of turn. : Target creature you control gets +1/+1 and gains lifelink until end of turn. Token of Deceit: Nice Cluestone-style mana rock. I like very much the fact that it's 1 mana. 9/10

mrlozano The surroundings of this new trial were far from encouraging. Debris, dangerously left out. Sharp instruments and the occasional mysterious stain indicated something had happened here, although what wasn't obvious. What was obvious though, was that he'd walked into what seemed to be a clearing, with a set of low walls made from crude wood and stone. Behind him, suddenly, the sound of shifting stone echoed through the makeshift clearing as something joined him. Turning around he would see a tall ogre, with chains dragging across the ground, and more surprising, the people who had suddenly filled what seemed to be spectator seats outside the walls. And in the middle, the brazier, which exploded in flame, the figure appearing once more. " Kav'toth. Rixos Ker. You enter the Trial of Pain. Let both of you be the teacher of the other in the art of cruelty. Whoever fights through the pain inflicted by the other, will claim this trial's victory." The figure paused. looking to both of the contestants and then back to the crowd. "Begin!"
The small crowd cheered. The trial had begun. {Response Card - Trial of Pain} Rixos's contestant glared at him. This wasn't going to be easy. Rixos, Master of Deceit: Oof, I love this version of Rixos. I like the opposite effects and the utility one he's out of loyalty. Perfect for his cost. 10/10

cajun Rudara watched as Karina joined the people who were walking into the building, before shortly disappearing, perhaps with her own business to attend to. This is your trial, and your trial alone." "Do you understand?" "Woah," I said, marveling at the magical building. Something was flying around near the ceiling that I couldn't quite make out.
And then the crowd of people seem to have vanished? Except for a single guard who read off the rules and asked if I understood.
"I, maybe? Does that count at the end, cause how do you get out of a maze if you can't leave the maze?"Karina, the Contrary Legendary Creature - Human If a spell or ability would cause an opponent to draw a card, that player draws a card, then discards a card instead. "Nuh uh!"2/2// When Karina sets off into the maze, she will pull out a scroll and some thread from her bag. She'll mark where she's been with the thread, and make a crude map of the maze as she travels it.
oh oops i definitely designed a defense against Depths and not an attack mb. Into the Labyrinth - 8/10

cajun The guard was about to respond to her inquiry, but Karina had already set off into the labyrinth. They didn't protest as she pulled out her thread and paper, and watched as she went into the maze. Oh! This definitely was the way...no it wasn't. Wait, over here! That must be...nope. What about...no, not that way. It couldn't possibly be...nada. The way out was not that way. After a while of crisscrossing, backtracking, and definitely making sure of where she was going. It was official! This maze had no way to continue! {Response Card - Contradictory Premise} Contradictory Premise - Sorcery - Scry 3, then exile the top four cards of your library. You may cast them until the end of your next turn. Karina, Contradictory: I love this effect. No joke. I'd definitely make it rare though, as this effectively is a hate card, and most hate cards get rare rarity. (Say that three time fast). 8/10

PopcorniaIf one closely observed the cloaked figure now wandering through the city, one might catch the gleam of smooth, featureless metal beneath her hood. She looks to the town crier, yelling something about trials and a... godhead? Only one being she knew of on this plane had called itself a god.The figure walks up to the crier. "Pardon me, sir. Whose city is this? And what are these 'trials' you speak of?"Testing Implements Artifact , : Tap target artifact or creature, then you may choose a counter on that permanent. "Can we talk about this?" As a response, the ogre throwed his chains to Rixos. The merchant rolled to a side, hitting the ground painfully, but avoiding the hit. "How the hell do I beat this?" Rixos drawed his sword, but it seemed like a toy, compared to the titanic ogre. As the monster attacked, Rixos centered his attention on avoiding the hits, but that wasn't getting anywhere. The crowd seemed dissapointed by his spectacle. Finally, Rixos decided to attack the beast and rapier in hand, went for the heart. "I have the feeling that this it's not going to work..."Masterful Duelist Creature - Human Soldier First strike Prevent all damage that would be dealt to ~ by creatures without first strike. 2/1 Trial of Pain: I'm really liking this cycle, and this seems like the most balanced one. Parasign The crier looked pleased to see another person approach them, their initial crowd having dispersed by this point, only a few groups here and there discussing his words. The brazier still burned low, but less fantastically than it had before. "You are in the city of Sanaerti. This city belongs now to Goddess of Power. Surely, you have seen her everywhere since you entered." The crier gestured the various symbols displayed throughout the square, and even to the one on his necklace. "She came to us recently, but she has shown us there is far more to our lives than what we had before." "And the trials! They're her next test for those of us who wish to serve her directly! They're challenges, tests, or other obstacles throughout the city the willing may face. There are several within this part of the city, if you wish to compete." {Response Card - Urban Prospectors} Testing Implements: Naturally I think first of Icy Manipulator, but given the ability cost is higher, I can see the trade off. Probably fine, even with -1/-1 counters or +1/+1 counters. 8/10

mrlozano The ogre, surprisingly, didn't even attempt to dodge, almost welcoming the attack on it as Rixos went it for the heart. The blade pierced the flesh, but didn't even sink in a third of the blade's length before stopping, the ogre's only response being a grunt, and a his free hand grabbing Rixos. {Response Card - Pitiless Ogre} Carelessly, the ogre threw Rixos back, hard, sending him sliding across the stone and dirt of the arena floor, before roaring at his competitor. "I can feel more pain than you tiny human! My skin tough! Yours is weak!" Masterful Duelist: Interesting idea, but that damage prevention should read "Prevent all combat damage dealt by creatures without first strike." I doubt they can deflect fireballs for instance. 7/10

er, intent there was she waits for answer, and if she didn't get one she'd do those things so the defense would be the maze and not a silent stare ("When she..."
