Pilgrim's Balance Enchantment Whenever a white creature enters the battlefield under your control, you gain 1 life. Whenever a black creature enters the battlefield under your control, each opponent loses 1 life. "At day, we herald our gods. At night, we bring them the blood of their desires." - Ayli, eternal pilgrim

This challenge is now closed - please no further changes of entries!
EDIT: Sorry for the delay. But ok then – here we go: Have to admit, I did not expect someone to use a colored artifact (especially in green), but I like the idea. Still, this feels like a lot of Squirrels for a common. I might be overestimating the effect, but considering compared to Golem Foundry you don't even need to cast your noncreature cards but could also use milling instead, this feels like it could flood the board too easily for a common. First of all, this is an uncommon and I intentionally asked for a mere common this time. That aside.. I'm not really able to judge this. On its own this card is completely fine, but generating two colorless mana could totally break Eggs combo deck – except entering the battlefield tapped might might it completely useless there. I just never really played any of these decks, so I can't really gauge your card's power level, sorry. Nice take on a mana myr, I really like how it basically turns one colored mana symbol of a cost into phyrexian mana – and then I saw K'rrik and really had to smile And our second mana myr in a row – and I really like this one as well. Nice twist of powering it down by only adding colorless mana but instead allowing it to profit from any kind of tribal support. At first I wanted to complain about this breaking the color pie with the first ability not fitting into mono-black and the second not into mono-white, but then I noticed the creatures entering the battlefield having a color requirement as well. Really clever concept – I like it! {And the winner is..} gateways7! Really liked the design approach of your entry. Runner-up goes to both Fleur and melono (in no particular order) for coming up with two new and interesting takes on the good old mana myrs.

I am totally in love with Scar City, and would love to see Magic go a bit more sci-fi for a future plane.

There's a lot of sets to look through >.> Just pick one at random, or your favorite! You don't need to comb through everything to find the perfect one, because you're not going to be evaluated on the set you chose, just how the card fits into it.

Sure, but the ones I've combed through so far aren't particularly appealing

Scrapmetal Artist Artifact Creature - Artificer Relinquish (When you cast this spell, you may discard a card.)
When ~ enters the battlefield, if you relinquished a card, target creature gets +1/+0 and gains haste until end of turn. 2/1 From korakhos's Korrinayru set.

Alright, this is closed! Judging will be up later today. EDIT: Judging! fluffydeathbringer: This is a pretty decent uncommon piece for the harmony deck, and I think it's cool that you decided to use the Titan-cycle trigger in a cool and different way. First strike is a pretty nice ability if you can pair it with other harmonies, so this is a pretty good card! Jartis: This is a decent arcun, but I think it would be better if it was a payoff for scrutinizing rather than just an engine. It feels like there were more spaces to explore with scrutinize that would have made it interesting, and while a tap ability works, it seems a bit vanilla. viriss: I like this card as a powerful white rare! I think battle experience was removed from the set (replaced with just experience), but the card still works in a similar way. I like that activated ability and the flavor it has a lot! Nice job. Tesagk: This is a nice use of the relinquish mechanic, I think that my only problem with it is that the effect is a little weak for discarding a card. There aren't many instances where a +1/+0 boost and haste is worth more than a card in your hand, and in an archetype where cards in your hand are a precious resource to use, this wouldn't be something I'd want to use it on. Overall, fluffydeathbringer is our winner with viriss as runner-up. Thanks to all for participating!

viriss : simple, clean, no complaints gateways7 : flagbearers are always neat in that they can be both combat trick/aura hosers and spot removal protectors, and adding an aggressive body to the deal makes for a compelling package 2wb : yeah something this strong should definitely not be common, otherwise cool design tho Jartis : ascend is a terrible mechanic and a mana dork ability on a fivedrop is about as useful as a dab of sun lotion after a spar with a flamethrower Tesagk : solid design in terms of cost, body, and ability, no complaints

Word Sorcery Tap up to two target creatures. If you spent to cast this spell, untap target creature, you gain life equal to its toughness. If you spent to cast this spell, draw a card then discard a card. The premise with this entry is that it's a very basic command spell which one can use to temporarily stun enemies, but also has additional effects based on the mana used to cast it.
