Is the +1 really so strong? I thought by only countering abilities and not spells, I'd made it somewhat reasonable... cajun — Derailed Thoughts: Oddly enough, both a passable control finisher and a good anti-control tool. Still, it fills both roles satisfactorily, and the flavor is incredibly witty. 10/10 Lady Mapi — Cursed Plentitude: A glorious casual card with strange multiplayer-politics interactions. Oh, and I guess you could put it on a Lightning Greaves and Donate it to draw a whole bunch of cards, so that's fun too. 9/10 "So, where's the portal to Kinshala?" "... are you not a planeswalker? Hm. Well, we'll worry about that later. In the meantime, there's a Festenian embassy there, if I recall, and we can get you through there. Kirino, I suppose I'll meet you and Tam just outside the embassy on the Kinshala side, if that's all right with you?"
Rettai takes Karina through the embassy's portal, showing an assortment of papers to the clerks who question them. After comparatively few minutes of bureaucracy, they step out into the open-air market of Tember City.
(The Festenian embassy belongs to HonchcrowDavid; Karina and Okus belong to Cajun.)

Okus did not want to be anywhere near the woman who had already done so much to wake up the host. But it was too early to resist, Rettai would almost certainly side with Kirino over us now. For the moment, it would have to play along. "So where is this Kinshala place? I've never seen it around the Arena."
"It's a plane, one I'm not very familiar with. She'll guide us there, I presume," Rettai answered.
What had started as a break had turned into full on panic. It couldn't bring me along for a planeswalk. One way or another everything was going to fall apart before it had even started. Now what, hat?
Now this. "So, where's the portal to Kinshala?" It would cost a lot of power. Okus could feel many doors of the Seventh Circle slamming shut already. But it had bought enough time, and time was far more precious.

cajun and cyberchronometerKirino meets you in the dusty streets in front of the embassy, and guides you down a bewildering series of back alleyways to the small shop at the edge of a slum. She pushes open a small door and leads you into a comfortable room, where a few guests are already eating ices and chatting quietly."Good day, Miss Kirino. I'm assuming that you and your party will want a private room?"You have discovered Abdak's Honest Ice Parlor

Lady Mapi : Actually I meant for each player to only be able to choose a card they exiled (so you could build around it while catching your opponents off guard) but worded it wrongly. If that will discount me points then let me know and I'll subtract them from my current valor. Regarding the card, I think it's a fine idea, it's super niche so it probably is finely costed although I think it has a build-around quality that may make it powerful in the right deck. 8/10. Aylin smiles at the challenge."You can go as easy as you want, because I definitely won't" she replies as she points her fists to the ground, rocks coating them until they grow to three times their size.Earthen Plating Instant Until end of turn, target creature you control gains trample and gets +X/+0, where X is the number of lands you control. Sacrifice it at the beginning of the next end step. Aylin always goes all-in.

Sacrifice it at the beginning of the next end step. Aylin always goes all-in. My score for Stir Things Up doesn't change - a few things get shuffled around, but the end result is the same. Of course, rock-coated fists three times the size of your own are incredibly heavy, especially if the magic letting you support them temporarily... stops. Kirino smirks, and throws herself at Aylin, snapping her leg out in a perfectly-timed kick.Mystic Lull Instant Choose one or both: • Tap target creature. It doesn't untap during its owner's next untap step. • Return target instant or sorcery spell to its owner's hand. "Everything should just calm down. "Earthen Plating is a pretty solid card. I'd throw it in my Tana, The Bloodsower EDH, where it would live happily with all my other power-pumps. 9/10.

Kirino sat in the middle of her room, and she laughed.
There once was a maiden consumed by her mind. Her thoughts supplanted the truth. Her memories devoured law and order. She achieved perfection through passion. She achieved wholeness through dissolution. "Reality is just a story", she laughed.
The sparks flowed freely - little pinpricks of light grounded themselves onto the floor, starting little flickering fires that smelled like nightmares. "I have to get out a bit more", she chuckled.Kirino Oblay can now make cards. Just 200 more Valor left until I get what I REALLY want...

However, I feel that it might be too good - I'd feel much better about it if it didn't get shuffled back into your library after you cast it. So... 7/10. "Oh, my crystalline friend. Lady MapiThe wording on this is very weird, and could lead to some broken or mechanically wrong scenarios possibly. Anything with target doesn't work right I beleive, because targets are chosen on cast. It avoids a straight 0, because it does do something, but it is gonna suffer because of all the problems. I think all instances rather than any number might fix it a little, if it actually worked as intended to begin with (Which I'm gonna go with the scenario where this works as intended for furthur points). You cast a board wipe like All is Dust (One of the tamer examples) and target it with this, then it becomes very strong. Another thing. Epicenter and similar spells are really badly broken by this. Also Whims of the Fates. It gets a 3/10. An interesting design space, but the card just doesn't work as intended and is very confusing when cast as to how some things work. It is also very easily broken. I'm sorry if I missed something, but I don't see how this can be fixed as is. At least it's a responce to my card, and if it did work, the cost would be alright. The crystal structure seems excited now. It begins to glow blue, and eminates a spark from its form as well. Orbs of sparks and lights begins to appear and float around.
Dancing Lights Instant Tap target creature. Draw a card. "Now follow the pretty lights."

Dancing Lights Instant Tap target creature. Draw a card. "Now follow the pretty lights." Damn, I'm out of practice - that's the lowest number of points I've gotten. As for Dancing Lights, that looks pretty fair. It's kinda weird, though - most tapdown effects also freeze creatures for a reason. I'll say 8/10. Gnosis Devouring - Instant Untap target creature. It gains +X/+0, where X is the number of cards drawn by your opponents this turn. "Genius is a heady wine - be careful not to drown in it."

Lady MapiInteresting card, but it is very limited unless built around. I think the hard part with balancing this is that it can be very, very powerful in certain decks, but that is true for a lot of cards like this. I think this is a good card, original, but the untap seems kind of tacked on and out of place, although without anything else attatched to it, the card would need something else to replace that. 9/10.The crystals stop glowing, for a moment. The crystal golem backs up, and sits. The golem glows white, and with that, spectral energy wisps around you. Images shape themselves out of the wisps, and a soothing breeze blows around. Attune With Balance
Sorcery If an opponent has more cards in their hand than you, draw a card. If an opponent controls more lands than you, you may put a plains card from your hand onto the battlefield. If an opponent has more life than you, you gain 3 life.

If an opponent has more life than you, you gain 3 life. Attune With Balance couldn't be more white if it tried. My only concern is the second line - that kind of white land-drop has really been deprecated, mostly for feel-bad reasons. I guess it might be OK, since it isn't tutoring up lands? I'm giving this one an 8.5/10 - it's a touch off of being really great. "You know, conversations are easier if all the participants are actually trying to say something." Brisk Dismissal - Instant Players cannot gain life or draw more than one card this turn. Consul Aridev's door was always open - his sharp tongue was more effective than any guard.

Lady Mapi Spirit of the Labyrinth's wording may help make this much smoother, maybe, but other than the wording, seems ok, although having draw denial at instant speed may need to cost more, considering it rarely is a mirrored effect. Needs some minor tuning, so 9/10. Although it is boarding because the effect may be a little too good. The crystal's glow brightens now. A voice can be heard. "Follow". Then the light dims, and the golem gets up. It then glows green, as a path of green lights unwinds in front of it. It moves forward, then looks back expecting something.
Pathfinding Instant Look at the top four cards of your library. You may reveal any number of land cards from among them and put them into your hand. Then put the rest on the bottom of your library in any order.

Then put the rest on the bottom of your library in any order. Pathfinding is interesting... my first thought was that it was too cheap, but after some searching through Gatherer it looks fine costed the way it is. A 9/10. "Alright, fine, I'll follow you. Hopefully I'll find someone who can explain what you're about."Geological Thoughts - Enchantment Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell, any player may discard a land card. If they do, Geological Cognition deals 2 damage to them and they may draw a card. A man walks towards Kirino with heavy footsteps. His helmet and breastplate with a plain insignia, as well as his regulation spear give away he is - or at least was - a soldier for a kingdom. "Hello. Are you in need of a guard of some sort? Not even death can stop his loyalty.1/3 Lost Soldier feels pretty solid. I could actually see it costing - Defenders tend to have large bodies for their cost. Still, having a creature you have to get through twice is pretty nice, though I would have preferred to see a callback to Doomed Traveller and friends, rather than a custom token (if that makes sense). I'm going with a 9/10 for you as well - it's still a solid card, and I could see myself shoving it into my Defenders Matter deck. "Me, personally? I don't think I particularly need a bodyguard." Kirino pauses. "Well, there was that time when I got attacked by multiple people while I was eating lunch, but that's pretty standard around here. You're currently in the Arena, a plane with quite a lot of conflict. Some advice: Don't trust little girls in hats, don't touch ladies with purple hair, and watch yourself around the petty kings and queens that have showed up here."Friendly Guidance Enchantment - Aura Enchant creature Enchanted creature has "Sacrifice this creature: untap target permanent". When Friendly Advice is put into a graveyard from the battlefield, you may draw a card.

Lady MapiThis is a very weird enchantment. Stuff like windfall effects have precedent in red, and discarding land cards as well. I admit that this isn't too far from what could actually exist, however the ability being useable by anyone also makes this possibly more of a rare than uncommon, due to how much it has going on with it. Otherwise, with some clean up on the wording as well this could be an interesting card to see printed. 9/10. Rarity is pretty off, but otherwise, pretty interesting. The being walks the path with you, leading you for a while. Soon, you come to see a crater, eminating a black mist. The golem looks at you, then looks at the crater. The voice once again speaks up. "Help?". It points down the crater, and begins to move towards it.Fog of Miasma Enchantment Whenever a creature attacks, if it doesn't have a -1/-1 counter on it, put a -1/-1 counter on that creature. : Destroy ~. Each player loses 2 life. Any player may activate this ability.

Across the Arena, the small tremble in their sleep. Kirino Oblay may now make cards with CMC 4. Lady Mapi This is a very weird enchantment. Each player loses 2 life. Any player may activate this ability. Hmm... I'm not sure I like Fog of Miasma, especially not at this price. I can't really find any comparable effects (the two other cards black has that punish attackers en mass make the attacker lose 1 life), but I do know that this is pretty damn harsh, since it bleeds off +1/+1 counters and massacres weenies. Ultimately, it makes attacking a bad prospect in a pretty un-fun way, and dropping it turn two, when it will kill or stall pretty much anything people have out, is just plain toxic. I'm going to have to give this a 6/10, because this smells like a format warper. Kirino stops at the edge of the crater. She sighs briefly, and cracks her wrist like a whip. The mist is concentrated into a dense knot, hovering in the air like some kind of abstract sculpture.Writ of Containment - Enchantment - Aura Enchant artifact or enchantment Enchanted permanent loses all abilities. Lady Mapi Yeah ummm woops, I knew I missed something. That was the cost of a different iteration. Welp I guess I messed that up, probably would be overpowered at 3 still. Really needed to scrap the idea. Thanks for the critique. For your card: It seems pretty cool, especially the aura swap allowing it to be moved around kindof. Might be a tad strong for Cmc 2 though, i would bump it to 3, since at 2 usually, they just kindof tap the artifacts down, which leaves nonactivated abilities still working. 9/10.The mist now cleared, you can clearly see a large black crystal jutting out of the ground, leaking the black mist. The golem trys to get closer, but as it does the crystal turns from black to red, and a large burst of fire leaps out at you and the golem.Chain Flame Instant ~ deals 2 damage to any two targets. "Be careful of the spread. Wouldn't want to get caught now."

He looked at her with his eyes narrowed in question, and rubbed his jaw unconsciously. "I may have already learned that second one the hard way..." he says, sighing. "But you mentioned kings and queens. Do you know where I can find them?" he asked, like a lost pup. Mindless Husk Creature - Human Soldier Defender, lifelink Whenever another creature you control attacks, ~ loses defender until end of turn. 2/3 Friendly Guidance: Seems two sided in a way. You're more likely to enchant a creature you control, but you can target someone else's for politics or card draw when you have a way to kill it. Not a fan of a sac outlet and an untap on one card, but it is an aura which is harder to use overall, and I could theoretically see this in play with some janky version of splinter twin, but nothing to worry about. 9/10. Side note, no I'm not trying to create a defender subtheme it just keeps happening and also apologies for the delayed response, I was moving and yadda yadda yadda.

"Be careful of the spread. Wouldn't want to get caught now." Chain Flame is a pretty simple burn card - there's a sliver of a chance you'll have to burn yourself or something you own, but that kind of thing is some nice spice. I say it's a 9/10The flames twist and fizzle into nothingness. "Now, let's see what's so important about this crater."Pinpoint Protection - Instant Up to two target permanents or players gain hexproof until the end of turn.

As far as I can tell, it doesn't actually work (you assign all of your attackers at once, so your chance to have this guy swing is already gone.) What you want here is: Which brings me to my next point - Mindless Husk is overcosted. You took Bishop's Soldier and gave it +0/+1 in exchange for having it cost more with an additional drawback. I can't give you more than a 6/10 in good conscience. "I'm sorry to say that I haven't seen any of them lately. Don't worry though - they'll find you if they need someone. Lady Mapi Good responce, although giving player's hexproof is usually in white rather than blue. Could also do with drawing a card. 9/10. The golem turns to you and nods. It points to the large crystal, and it echos "Seal" to Kirino. The large crystal's glow becomes a harsh white, and it lashes out again, this time with radiant chains. The harsh lights of the chains supressing your power.Radiant Grasp Instant Choose one - - Target player can't cast creature spells this turn - Target player can't cast noncreature spells this turn Draw a card. You will probably need to cast a spell reacting to this, rather than afterwards, since it restricts your casting.

Knocked Out Knight Creature - Human Knight ~ can't attack or block unless you pay . 3/2 Veil of Sparks: I assume it makes one during each combat - for blocking and stuff. Works nicely, fairly costed, coolio. 10/10.

Radiant Grasp feels overcosted - the base effect is weaker than Silence, and it's usually an extra to cantrip. And this is the kind of effect where a bit of mana is the difference between good and awful. So I'll say 7/10"Chains? Really?" A brief flicker of sparks later, the chains simply shiver themselves to pieces.Mana Reclamation - Instant Counter target noncreature spell if was spent to cast Mana Reclamation. Add if was spent to cast Mana Reclamation. (Do both if was spent to cast Mana Reclamation.)"Well... okay then." he said, listening to her question. "Uh, let's see... I can't remember much. Works nicely, fairly costed, coolio. 10/10. That is one tuckered-out knight. I'm on the fence about whether or not that drawback is too severe - on the one hand, 3/2 for . On the other, you're severely throwing off your curve if you actually want to use them for creature things. So I'm going to hand out another 7/10 - big one-drops with drawbacks are kinda hard to design well. Kirino stares down at the unconscious knight and sighs. "We might have a problem here." Some sparks flicker from her eyes and onto the sleeping knight, where they nestle in his hair like tiny flames.Violent Vigor - Enchantment - Aura Enchant creature. The poor guard slowly wakes up. He feels the sparks in his hair and sighs. He stands up slowly and dusts himself off. "A-apologies... that's, uh, never happened before." he says, a faint giggling can be heard from his spear. "And now my... my spear is laughing. I think I should leave. Good day." he says, walking off, rather curtly.
Violent Vigor: I like it, nice attachment to the card. Solid enchantment, red auras sacrificing themselves for a one time boost is a thing. I'd put this at common personally though because the mana is only combat mana so you can usually only do some tricks with it and nothing too impactful, so 9/10.

Lady Mapi Negate with an upside? I don't really see a way to salvage this at 2 mana, and at 3 mana it may be too bad, even if it gave 3 mana. 5/10. Interesting, but the negate powercreep is poor foresight. The golem sees its chance, launching its own radiant runes as it glows white, attempting to seal the crystal. The crystal glows a harsh blue, threatening to break the runes as they are being formed.Kirino may need to do something to either help the golem's casting, or hamper the crystals power, before the sealing can take effect.Field of Runes Enchantment Activated abilities cost more to activate. , Sacrifice ~: Counter target activated or triggered ability. "The rash simply have just as much power as a caged animal. All we need to stop them is the cage"Meanwhile, use call for aid, as the crystal is casting Cryptic Command. Choosing counter and bounce. (To clarify, the golem is casting Field of Runes, and the crystal is casting Cryptic command. Kirino can help the golem's enchantment, or hinder the crystal's counterspell/bounce, or do something else entirely. It's up to you what kirino would do of course, but I just wanted to make sure you knew what is up with me countering my own card. Think of the Field of Runes as a gift, while the cryptic command is an attack.)

mixedrandomj: Woo it's been a while. Kirino's eyes flash with exasperation as she makes a sweeping gesture towards the crystal. The glow goes out.Spelltoll - Instant - Counter target spell unless its controller pays . If they do, add . "I'll let you finish if you can pay my price."Field of Ruins is a pretty nice card... or it would be if it didn't shut down mana abilities that happen to also be activated abilities (like, I dunno, tapping a land). If you fix that, I think you could dial down the color weight a bit - it'd be fair at or even , I think. I'll give it a 6/10 for the unfortunate (and I'd guess unintentional) mana-lock.

Lady Mapi : Being stealthy is one of the things Aylin despises the most. Usually she'd just jump into battle with a loud cry and throwing a devastating punch, but for this spell she actually needs to focus and spend some time. She's standing a few yards away from Kirino, enough to still see her but also enough for the empath to recognize her or what she's doing. As she finalizes channeling the spell, she clenches her fist in pure spite. It's showtime she thinks as she channels all her rage and throws a punch at the air.The earth begins to rumble as a gigantic wall of stone rises. It is as tall as a mountain and as thick as three trees. The wall shoots towards Kirino with unbelievable speed, shattering the earth as it moves and generating earthquakes all around. As it advances, it also shoots around loose stones haphazardly, creating a mini meteor shower to add to its destructive potential. Kirino will obviously see it coming, but she won't be able to do anything about it...

Arina has placed herself a distance away, watching Kirino intently while Aylin's spell goes off. If her sources were correct, Kirino should continue to be perfectly functional after this attack, and she wants a better understanding before making an attack about just how strong Kirino's defenses are.(Attacking against Kirino) Extended Surveillance Sorcery Draw two cards, then target player loses life equal to the number of cards you've drawn this turn.

It felt like the entire Arena shook as a fountain of rock erupted into the sky and came crashing back down. She had heard Aylin talking about it yesterday, even seen her meet with miss Nisita just after her, but it seemed everything was going to happen now. Okus cast her trusty distraction charm so no one would notice the little girl skipping off to join the mayhem.
All in Due Time Ongoing Scheme When you set this scheme in motion and at the beginning of your upkeep, draw a card for each player. When you cast a spell, abandon this scheme.
(for clarity, joining the attack, not the defense)

What?! What is that?! It's heading for that woman! She'll die for sure! These thoughts, barely registered in the heat of the moment, spurred a nearby As'han onward to conjure a grand barrier in between the approaching calamity and Kirino's residence; it would not be nearly strong enough to stop the barrier outright, but it would certainly slow it down for Kirino to be able to make her move. The priest not using his full power was, of course, a deliberate choice made as to not deprive Kirino of a chance to grow. Certainly in no way a weakness brought on by his own terror of the calamity or its inciter, of course. A Chastiser of the Father is naturally free of such things. Absolutely.
