fluffydeathbringer "Well, I, uh..." he looks at the crown, hands raising to stroke it, stopping just before touching it. "No... I just want to go home to my wife and daughter..." he said, staring longingly at the crown. Sweat gathered upon his brow, he stared at it for longer. "...No. I'm just a simple man, not fit for leading."Garald, Wary Soldier Legendary Creature - Human Soldier Whenever you're dealt damage, you may gain X life, where X is the number of nontoken creatures you control. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."1/4 Test of the Proper Station: Tribute but can go on noncreature, interesting keyword (side note). Two mana to let an opponent choose to take 3 or get Act of Treasoned, which is fair enough I think. Pretty simple, but is clever enough. Name's a tad long, but that's no reason to take off points, especially as that's personal preference. 10/10. mixedrandomj "Oh, gee, thanks. Now, how do I seal it?" asked the soldier, the wall gone and his energy drained. He raised his spear and clenched it tightly. "Alright, bastard, whatever you've got, throw it at me! Golem, seal it or whatever! Can I just stab it?" he asks, the wall of light being dispersed but not gone, flowing into Aiden and restoring his energy and shielding him. "And what is this spirit?!"
Spirit of Light Creature - Elemental Flash When ~ enters the battlefield, target creature you control gets protection from the color of your choice until end of turn. 2/2 Mana Dispersal: I'm not sure how I feel about the "tap all" clause, especially on something so low power and uncommon. It's a lure that certain decks usually don't have to respond to, bouncing a creature, but that makes it like you have to do it then and there. At least it's not an instant, and it isn't horribly stupid in much besides EDH or against heavy control decks. Weird situation it's in. 8/10, I think I'd feel more comfortable at , but then it wouldn't see much play at sorcery speed. I don't know, blue has never been my strongsuit. As for walls, if treefolk don't have to be, then elementals don't have to be either! That's why Mistform Ultimus is funny to read, remembering how Magic worked before Defender. (apologies for the long time to respond; I had stuff typed out, tried to do some copy+paste shenanigans, deleted everything, annoyance, anger, yadda yadda yadda)

Garald: I despise uncommon legends and this effect is imo too stronk at CMC3 and in a (relatively) hard-to-bolt creature. so this gets 5/10 as its highest
"Excellent!" comes a holler from behind a nearby wall. The little fox Aiden had seen in Aylin's domain comes out, clapping his paws together and smiling triumphantly. "You have passed the trial set before you with honor! Your strength of conviction and humility are a pleasing sight for these eyes that have so far been denied such here. You deserve a reward. Come to my domain later, and I shall have just the thing prepared."

gurfafflekinssorry for the wait, I was a little busy. For your card, since protection for a turn isn't even 1 mana, for 4 mana getting a 2/2 on top of it seems alright enough for a , if a little lacking. I would like to say it could be of use being cheaper or given flying, but I am not 100% on that, so 9/10. The golem sees you are trying to draw the magic attacks to yourself, and gets behind Aiden to prepare for an opening on the crystal. The crystal changes colors to a dark black once again, throwing a flurry of necrotic energy at Aiden, while the golem glows white, preparing something to supress the crystal.Necrotic Blast Instant As an additional cost to cast this, pay 5 life. ~ deals 3 damage to any target. Any Power at a painful price. Such is the way of necromancy.Call for aid, Assume both target you. Combo with Blightning

mixedrandomjThe bolt of energy hits Aiden square in the stomach, causing him to stagger. He coughs, and out comes a little blood, tinged with black energy as he keeps coughing it up. His spear glows white, as he seems to be dying, and an energy seems to come over him, a sheen of white making him stand up tall, and the coughing stops. "Not... today!" he says through gritted teeth, swinging his now glowing spear with a newfound strength at the crystal.(No worries about time - life happens, interests shift, s'all good.) Rejuvenation Spirit Creature - Spirit Flash, flying, lifelink When ~ enters the battlefield, you gain 3 life and you may return up to one card from your graveyard to your hand. "A well needed rest in but the blink of an eye." - General Victor4/4 Necrotic Blast: I don't if I like the idea of black dealing damage, even though they take some first, and am unsure if this would be extremely beneficial in the popular Death's Shadow deck. Though maybe it would be counterproductive because your life total is already low? Either way, interesting bolt in black, appropriately at slot. Overall, 9/10 for concerns about the aforementioned deck and also a personal thought that maybe black shouldn't be doing much direct damage, even though Bump in the Night does, in fact, exist.

gurfafflekins For Rejuvination Spirit, I think this is a nice little rare. It does a bunch, costs a bunch, and has a great body. My only problem is the flash with that large flying and lifelink body, but the cost seems about right for that. The enter the battlefield effect is great, and I don't think it needs much changing. I would also reduce the cost by one and make it a 3/3, however thats just a preference on my side. 10/10. I could see myself opening this in a pack. The spear breaks into the crystal, causing a burst of energy to lash out.
Instead of an expected burst from the crack, a white bubble wraps itself around the crystal, pushing the spear and Aiden away before it hits.
The energy bursts and crackles, but is contained by the sphere of energy.
The golem's white glow dims, as it finishes its spell.
The golem looks at Aiden, and nods in approval. It checks to see Aiden is ok, then leaves, but not before giving Aiden a gift in return.
(The crystal has been supressed for now, If you wanna do more of these things, want to continue a story, or start something, you can post on my battleboard with challenges. Ryn has left Aiden a strange small crystal shard, which acts as a compass to point in the direction of Ryn, to locate it if needed)

"Can't fight with a sword, with a spear, with an axe, what are you good for?" "Making it a hell of a lot easier to hit someone."1/1 Rotary Blade: I like it. I feel it could either do creature or player or just come in untapped. 9/10. Also, I hope you doing this revives the boards. I love this game but no one plays.

gurfafflekins The robot paused, and it's optical sensor narrowed. This was new terminology, and it sounded interesting. "Plane? Planeswalker? What manner of entity do you speak of? Tell me more, and I may consider rescinding my earlier threat."Translation Array Artifact The first time each turn an opponent casts a spell or activates an ability, draw a card. "Every spell spoken only tells me more of your secrets."
Line Slinger: 8/10. Feels kind of situational, but at worst is a 1/1 for at common. Pretty good. And thanks! I love the idea of this board, and want it to continue.

notdaedalus"W-well, where I come from, we told stories and tales about people who could travel between worlds and fantastic places - 'planes'. I always thought it was just a legend, but considering the stuff I've seen people do... I've had a magic golem ask me for help containing some kind of crystal, fire magic, and almost died about 3 times already." he paused. "My turn for a question, so, um, what exactly... are you?"Armored General Creature - Human Soldier First strike Whenever an opponent draws a card, other creatures you control get +1/+1 until end of turn. Tactics, strategy, stoic gaze - all a general's best friend.
3/3 Translation Array: Drawing cards easily in colorless at common is a no from me dawg, this should probably be a rare or a pushed uncommon. It may be a side effect of my EDH oriented mindset, but still. 7/10 for good design, just (personally) the wrong rarity for limited and such.

Little soldier, your bravery is misplaced. I am a robot, a word which will mean nothing to your or your army. And you are about to find out just how well a robot can fight."Artillery Array Artifact Creature - Construct When ~ enters the battlefield, you get . Pay : Deal 3 damage to target creature. 2/2 Armoured General - 8/10. Well designed, well balanced, but really strong for an uncommon. Could do well as a rare, or under-pushed mythic. Still, a good card all around.

"U-uh, 'row-bought'?" he said, though at the threat, a soft white light covered his body. "This again?" he muttered. "Anyways, I'm a long ways from home. I don't want to fight - I'm mostly looking for an employer - someone to protect."Robin, Strategic Master Legendary Creature - Human Soldier Flash, lifelink When ~ enters the battlefield, creatures you control gain indestructible until end of turn. "No one will die on my watch!"3/4 (Bonus points if you know what I'm referencing with this card.) Artillery Array: " : Bolt" seems scary, even if it is only creatures. I might make it (and gives two ) but I don't know, and it's probably fine as is. 5 mana 2/2 probably makes up for the potential a little, so 8/10.

The robot paused. He supposed he had been a tad aggressive. But this primitive had refused to answer his questions.... at least at first. He supposed that he was at fault here. But admitting it to an organic would be the death of him, or at least his dignity. Perhaps a change of tactics would be useful. Plus, the opposing foes were becoming a bit much for his spindly automatons."Ok, how about this? You stop hitting me, I stop hitting you, and we both cooperate?"Peaceful Envoy Artifact Creature - Construct Defender T: Each player draws a card. 0/5 Robin, Strategic Master - 8/10. Initially seems overpowered, but the cost, stats, and Legendary status mean it ends up as a rather pushed uncommon, as opposed to a playable rare.

He looked questioningly at the machine. "That was the plan from the start. I don't really want to fight for no good reason, and wasn't really to begin with. I accept your truce, rowboat."Fortress Wall Creature - Wall Defender Whenever you draw a card, you may pay . If you do, gain 1 life. 0/5 Peaceful Envoy: Symmetrical card draw is weird to me( he says, having done it on plenty of old cards). Still a little iffy on colorless drawing cards but this is less efficient and isn't one-sided. 10/10. My biases aside, strong design.

A buzzing fills the air as a woman with a machine attached to her back flies into view from the sky and lands on the ground. She turns the machine, a steampunk-ish Thopter, off. "A soldier. gurfafflekinsThe robot stops, and a sound resembling a synthetic sigh resounds from it's speakers. "Thank goodness for that. While we were both at fault in this altercation- You sicced your soldiers on me, I threatened too kill you, minor stuff like that - I'm glad we could come to an agreement. I hope to see you again sometime!" And with a clap of thunder, the space the robot had inhabited was empty, and an invisible figure hurtled back away into the blind eternities.Fortress Wall - 9/10. No luck so far." he seemed unphased by the bizarre thopter and entrance.Mist Witch Creature - Kithkin Wizard You have hexproof. "You are safe with me, child... no one can or will ever find you here."2/2 Puzzling Query: I see a lot of problems with this. How do you gauge if it's truthful? "Do you like Stacy" is a yes or no question, how would you know? What if they tell the truth? If they do, you cast a two mana spell that did nothing. Even if you get some real life knowledge out of them, that's a little beyond the scope of this and uncards I think? The furthest uncards have gone with real world things that aren't Magic are height and gender ( Sex Appeal off the top of my head). I give this 4/10 - I appreciate the unfactor, going for the laugh at a table with pals and such, but as someone who was a rules lawyer pal (yes, even with uncards), this could cause some trouble.

I'm a little bored and in a story mood, so I'm gonna attempt to write a little backstory for Aiden's plane and his life there before sparking and whatnot.
In the multiverse, it would be known as a plane called Aegisal.
It's in a typical medieval setting, like Fire Emblem but without the magic parts. Aiden was a personal bodyguard for the King of the kingdom of Sunspear, and therefore uses a special spear from the royal armory. It doesn't do anything special, but is made from a type of indestructible metal that they call Sunstone as the head, and wood known as lunar wood, that no man can snap without a large tool's assistance.
His family consists of his wife and daughter, Melody and Rose, that are basically his world. His parents and parents-in-law are long dead, both having grown up as orphans. The kingdom is very old and stagnant, but the kings are continually good and prosperous throughout time. It remains very unvisited and desolate from the multiverse, and it is a blessing and a curse - no advanced knowledge has come through, yet nothing like the Eldrazi or evil dragons with colorless twin brothers have ever come.
There are very few planeswalkers even from there from throughout time, forward and backward - the sparks just don't seem to happen here. Yet, they have enough knowledge to have legends about planeswalkers, even using that name for them.
Aiden is a good bodyguard and physical fighter, but mana, magic, and artifact creatures are a whole new ball game.

"And I could go for a good skirmish- haven't had a proper fight in a while. As long as it IS a skirmish. Fighting to the death isn't exactly smart, unless needed."Barrack Wall Creature - Wall Defender Whenever a creature you control attacks, you may gain 1 life. 0/3 Issue a Challenge: Neat idea but, not sure how I feel about a red cantrip at common. Usually they loot if they have one. Tie that with goading every creature for two mana at common in monored at instant speed, I give it 5/10.

Barrack Wall: fine card, cool effect, ironically this is one cool defender card you do not want in a defender deck XD. I'm debating whether or not you should up the cost by and compensate with a toughness boost, but overall a neat design. 8/10. "Why do you always have to make things uninteresting by being soft?" asks Aylin annoyed "Trust me, you're not important enough for me to kill you... but it's always fun to fight someone as if your life and theirs were on the line. It lets you know you're alive!"Her arms begin to tremble as she slowly raises them with a smirk. The soil behind her contorts until it forms a lizardlike creature at least twice the soldier's size."This will be my proxy in the fight, I hope you don't mind" says Aylin maliciously.Creeping CanopyLand , Pay 1 life: Add . : Until end of turn, ~ becomes a 4/4 red Elemental Lizard creature with menace that's still a land.

The soldier shrugged. "I'm not soft. Just trying to spare you." he said, smirking. As he watched the giant lizard grow from the ground, he rolled his eyes. "And I'm the soft one- can't do a little fighting without some sort of avatar huh?" he stood at the ready, spear in a defensive position. "Well, I've fought worse."I don't do this often but Call to Aid: Raise the AlarmFeatherfoot Squad Creature - Human Soldier First strike Protection from lands 4/4 Creeping Canopy: I like it, but not a fan of hurting yourself for any one specific color though. Feels like it should just enter tapped. 9/10, great design.

Featherfoot Squad: I'll be honest, I was expecting a token generating creature but calling for aid was a good way to not being forced to add it to the design. The protection from lands is so niche that I think the card can afford to cost , but cool answer. 8/10. "Fine, you want this to go face-to-face? You've got it!" she says.Aylin extends her arms and the lizard disintegrates, its particles coating the geomancer's hands and forming two big spiked granite gauntlets. She punches bots fists together and throws a punch at the soldier.Vicious Jab Instant Target creature gets +3/+0 and gains first strike and trample until end of turn. "Get up, I didn't even punch you that hard..."

"That's more like it, kid." he said tauntingly, watching her form her gauntlets. He lifts his spear shaft to defend from the incoming blow, barely managing to catch the blow in time - she was fast, and angry. Instead of retaliating, however, he disengaged, rolling with the force to wheel a couple steps back. "That all you got?" he taunted, the wood on his spear completely undamaged.
Aryn, Steadfast Warrior Legendary Creature - Human Soldier Whenever ~ blocks, it gains indestructible and lifelink until end of turn. "This line will hold!" 3/4
Vicious Jab: I like it. Temur Battle Rage-esque with a power buff for an extra one. First strike and trample are a little concerning together, but it's probably fine. 9/10.

Post by korakhos on Feb 16, 2019 16:05:46 GMT
Aryn, Steadfast Warrior: Faithbearer Paladin has the same stats and mana cost but has the lifelink for free, since this is legendary I believe you could push it more, either by giving it a power buff, giving it vigilance or at least have the lifelink be permanent and the indestructible trigger on blocking. 6/10. Aylin smiles malevolently."So you've no magic ability whatsoever? We both know you can barely take a punch to the face, but I expected you to compensate for it with something other than just some weapon training..." she says contemptuously "You seem awfully reliant on your spear... it would be a pity if someone were to tear it to pieces, don't you think?"As she says this she quickly creates a blade out of stone and shoots it towards the soldier's spear.Earthforged Cleaver Sorcery Choose one- • ~ deals 4 damage to target creature • Destroy target artifact • Destroy target land

Just when Aiden thought he was free of the strange fox, here he is once again. "Have you held fast in integrity, little soldier? Let us see how you stand against this!" With a gesture, three infernal figures manifested around the guard, surrounding him with blades raised...
Tribulation of the Arrogant Sorcery Trial 3 (As you cast this spell, an opponent of your choice may pay 3 life.)
Create three 1/1 red Devil creature tokens. If the trial was failed, those tokens gain haste until end of turn. As the ranks closed in, the general broke, recanted, and offered in fear . . . and in so doing, passed his test.

korakhos He smirked and held the spear forward, smashing the blade by thrusting the head into the blade, causing it to shatter. "Never needed magic before, don't need it now." he said. He made no move to attack, instead standing his ground and remaining in a defensive position after knocking the projectile out of the air. "And good luck with that. Now, are you actually trying or is this just your warm-up? I certainly hope some dirt isn't all you've got." he said. All standing defiantly still.Stoneforged Paladin Creature - Golem Soldier Indestructible All equipment attached to ~ has indestructible. Sick of all the lying and deception among his many soldiers, Braveil decided to simply create better ones.4/4 (had to pull the rare card for this one - don't think this or much similar can apply to uncommon) Earthforged Cleaver: Normally these effects are all at the cost of the card individually, but it's versatility provides much more value in that line. Should probably cost at common for it's usefulness (and if you're wondering, I'm not a big fan of certain Charm cards in general because they're so cheap for their versatility). 8/10. Still good design, and appropriately at sorcery speed. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- fluffydeathbringer The soldier readjusted his helmet as the fox randomly appeared and made three men with swords pop up. "Three versus one. Not exactly fair." the soldier mused. "Alright - fine. I know when I'm beat." he said, still raising his spear to defend. "Doesn't mean I'll go down easy though."
Doomed Lieutenant Creature - Human Soldier When ~ dies, you gain 2 life and create a 1/1 white soldier creature token. "If I die, another will take my place. Kill me, kill my comrades. But another will fill in. You can't win."2/1 Tribulation of the Arrogant: Neat card. Hordeling Outburst but arguably better at a fair higher cost. I can see the potential, but also many inherent problems with scenarios where the opponent doesn't really have a choice even though offered one, but I suppose that's the flavor around it. 9/10.
