Xander looks on as Bell completes his transformation, and hits Callie with lightning. He watches as Doer is thrown into the dragon. approaches the dragon. Well this went to shit. Time for a different plan, I guess. He looks again to Callie, and his eyes flash blue as the woman disappears. "I'll be right back. Please don't kill him." Xander says defeatedly, mostly to Khon and Michi, as the human opens and walks through a humanoid-sized portal that shifts constantly between different shades of blue. (I was going to have it close behind him, but decided against it because if Bell can chill enough to be able to fit, then he can come in) Callie finds herself in a strange room: A glass dome with a concrete floor, floating a few feet above the ground. The dome is located a few hundred feet away, within sight of the dragon, but at a safe distance, assuming such a distance even exists. A few seconds later, the same portal opens, and Xander walks through it. "Sorry for moving you, but I figured you would be safer over here. Do you... happen to have any ideas on how to get your dad to calm down? This misunderstanding is ridiculous..."Xander has unlocked Rarity Upgrade! Distant Safety Enchantment When Distant Safety enters the battlefield, each player chooses a creature they don't control. Exile all creatures chosen this way until Distant Safety leaves the battlefield. : Distant Safety's controller sacrifices it. Any player may activate this ability. Enraged Dragon: 8/10 seems kinda weak for a mythic, mostly because the other person has to have artifacts and/or planeswalkers out for it to be fully useful. Recycle Blood: 9/10 This is nice, but I almost want to force X to be 1, if it's an uncommon. *Edits made to make my post make more sense given mrlozano's post.

"GET. AWAY!" Okay, ratings first. gurf - Enraged Dragon: I think this can afford to be rare? It doesn't feel that mythic to me. Anyways, pretty solid. 9/10 Desecrate Souls: Probably getting around indestructible at common is too strong? Not sure though. 8/10 blueseclipse - Peacekeeper Construct: This looks very strong against lifegain decks. Maybe too strong? In EDH it can be very oppresive (see Oloro and friends). 7/10Neottolemo - Probability Cusp: So teal gets spell copies at a worse ratio than blue or red? Sure. 8/10(Doer, master of internal monologues) Alrigth. Things are going wrong. But, like very wrong. Time for a pre-death internal monologue. I hope you all enjoyed the last one. Well, there's no you all. Just me. No audience here to contemplate my death. Death by pissing-a-meowking-enraged-dragon. Sounds pretty good to me. Put that in my epitaph. Alright. I can beat meowster Bell in 1v1. Yeah. Probably. Possibly? I have a chance, that's for sure. Add rust-plie into the equation. I'm not a scientist, but two against one is not a good ratio. Michi must get out of this. So I have to draw the dragon's attention towards myself. That can also give Michi time to take the girl to a safe place. Alright. Take your sword. Leave it on the ground. And back, slowly.I cast my sword to my paw and throw it to the ground. Well, that was the plan. Somehow, now I'm moving, sword in hand, towards meowster Bell. I feel the magic here. It's weird, and nothing I have seen before. I throw my weapon to the source, turning it into a dagger. And now I'm being thrown towards the jaws of a dragon. And my only weapon are my claws. From the corner of my eye, I see Michi casting a spell, and the force dissapears. I land just in front of the dragon. "Meowster..." I cross my paws and opens my eyes widely. Very widely. Please don't burn me or electrocute me right here. Meow.Only the Five Instant This spell can't be countered. Counter target non-white, non-blue, non-black, non-red, non-green spell. If that spell is countered this way, exile it instead of putting it into its owner’s graveyard. Forced Bow Instant You and permanents you control gain hexproof until end of turn. Creatures you control don't deal nor receive combat damage this turn. Only the Five counters Neot's spell. Forced Bow protects my things from your spells, gurf. And blues... I don't have enough cards, but the revived now hexproofy Doer Unflinching can do stuff. I think.

pacifistwestwoman Distant Safety: I like this card. I think it could use some tweaking/editing and such, but I think it's pretty cool. 9/10. mrlozano Only the Five: I believe the word you're looking for is "colorless" (barring the invention of a 6th color which is actually a pretty neat response to the Teal thing), still a little goofy, but compared to Annul, sure. 9/10. Forced Bow: This is a pretty good green-white card. I might feel a little more comfortable at ? 9/10. Neottolemo blueseclipse cajun Roaring Dragon Creature - Dragon Flash Flying When ~ enters the battlefield, copy target instant spell. The shapeshifting dragon turned into a bolt of lightning and shot into the portal with Xander, before slamming into him with a furious rage as a lightning bolt, and when they hit the wall, Bell returned to his form and held him by his collar. His other hand remained draconic, and he held the claw against where Xander's heart should be. His eyes showed no mercy. "You dare touch her?" he asked, hysteria evident in his voice - "You think this some sort of game, you waste of air? I tell you to get the Hell away from her, and you move her to this room of yours? I'm gonna gut you like the fish you are, you fucker." his claw dug into whatever clothes he was making, before--We still watch, you know."Belnaar."Callie's voice. Bell turned to look at her. Khon's eyes narrow as he watches Xander take Callie through a portal even as Doer lunges towards him - casting his weapon aside in the process? Before he can contemplate this, however, he sees Bell vanish through the portal as well, his fury evident. He frowns, before approaching the portal himself. He steps in front of it, turning just enough so that he can see the others while also being able to look inside the portal. Aether sparks along the edge of his glaive as he drives the blade into the base of the portal itself, where the floor shifts from lightning-scorched earth to concrete, and the portal seems to weave itself around the blade, anchoring it open. Finally, he speaks. "Bell," he calls to the draconic man - it would be considered yelling if his tone wasn't remaining completely level. His volume lowers as he continues, "Your anger is understandable - however, I will ask you to calm yourself for the moment. Not because I disagree with your intentions in protecting her," I say, my gaze shifting towards those outside the portal to ensure that they are not trying to slip past me, "but because your rage threatens that which you are trying to defend. Look at Callie," I say, my words stern, as forceful as I can make them while my voice remains level. "The only injury she has suffered during this incident so far has been due to your uncontrolled anger - calm yourself, and think before you risk her safety further. I do not know what purpose Xander and Doer were intending to fulfill here, but nothing they have done would justify the possibility of harming Callie through your uncontrolled rage, would it?"Arlakesh, Guardian of the Gate Legendary Artifact Creature - Golem Whenever one or more other permanents you control would be exiled, choose one of those permanents. That permanent remains on the battlefield instead. Exile Arlakesh, Guardian of the Gate: Until your next turn, whenever a card, spell or permanent you own is exiled by a source your opponent controls, you may play that card from exile until the end of your next turn. 3/6Still assisting Bell. Speaking of which, Xander, you need to rate Peacekeeper Construct (along with anything else that was assisting Bell in that last round of things - I think Probability Cusp was the only other thing here?)

"My last words, huh? Alright. Callie: You strike me as a good person. Good luck. I mean it. Bell: You're a dumb fuck. I mean it."
Xander can hardly keep a grin from showing, assuming Bell doesn't just instantly kill him. I do not know what purpose Xander and Doer were intending to fulfill here, but nothing they have done would justify the possibility of harming Callie through your uncontrolled rage, would it?" "Yeah, that. I moved her over here to keep her away from the fighting! Something that you could be doing if you calmed down for 10 seconds! I was being completely literal with every godsdamned thing I said out there."Xander turns his head towards Khon. "Not sure how "trustworthy" my testimony is, since we just met, but this whole thing started because Doer asked how to shapeshift."(Throughout this, Xander is still being pressed against the wall by Bell. Just wanted that to be known.) Solari Prophet Creature - Angel Cleric Whenever you would take noncombat damage, instead you gain that much life. Creatures you control have vigilance. 1/4 "Watch the sky, brothers. See the gods as they protect our villages from death and destruction."Crackling Burst: 9/10. It feels expensive, but then I think about the fact that it's just Naturalize + Lava Axe, and then I'm more ok with it, and then I realize that I hate Lava Axe. Anyway, I don't like this card for my own personal reasons, but other than that it's fine. Arkalesh, Guardian of the Gate: 10/10. It's a nice thing. Peacekeeper Construct: 8/10. I don't like having both of those abilities on one card. I'd rather take off the Metalcraft one, and increase it's power. Paranoia Sets In: 10/10. I think this wouldn't be great unless someone is actually playing a life gain deck, but it's still nice. This is one of like two reasons I don't like playing this with more than 2 people present: There are assists everywhere and I get confused over which cards I'm supposed to rate. Also between cajun, gurf, and eclipse, I'm being attacked more than gurf is lol. *Edit because I was so busy rating other cards I forgot to write my own.

Not really meant to be a worse ratio, it costs so much because it lets you target both spells and abilities (normally one or the other), has only one color pip (normally two for this kind of effect), and lets you both copy and change the target or the original (normally one or the other). Only the Five is going to nab mostly colourless stuff but seems fine. 9/10 The source of the force was behind Bell so I'm assuming Doer didn't literally throw it at Bell because otherwise things would've been a bit different.
Vern's priority would've been Doer normally but things were getting a tiny bit out of hand. Something begins to warp around Xander, Bell, Callie, and Khon. If they try to touch each other or shoot projectiles at each other and the like, they'll find out their target is just a little bit to the left, or to the right, or above, or below where they thought they would be; just off enough to miss them completely.

Enchantment Prevent all damage that would be dealt to or dealt by creatures and planeswalkers. For the others, Xander's plea was the same. For Bell, the memories twisted, ever so slightly...
"Yeah, that. I moved her over here to keep her away from the fighting! She's not worth anything to either of us dead!" Xander turns his head towards Khon. pacifistwestwoman Solari Prophet: This is a strong effect, and also goes infinite with anything like "Pay n life: do a thing" because you'd gain n life instead. But I see the intention, "from a source an opponent controls", still pretty powerful, tacked on with the vigilance thing. 7/10. mrlozano blueseclipse cajun Neottolemo Array of Elsewheres: Sure. Math is hard tho. 8/10. Bell listen's to Khon's speech. He hears Xander's offer to Khon. His brow remains furrowed. He releases the telepath from his claws, shoving him towards the ground. His eyes remain piercing red, and Callie seems relieved. She runs up to him, and tentatively hugs him. "C'mon, let's just go." she says. Bell nods. His horns remain, and then Callie planeswalks. Bell remains where he is."There. She's safe now. Now, both of you." he says, before violently sniffing the air. That thing was here somewhere. Where? Didn't matter. New idea. Bad idea? Not in the slightest. He launches himself in front of the portal out of the dome, and roars. Lightning begins to crackle from his body, growing steadily more and more violent, eventually moving to fill the dome with lightning. "I would sooner die than suffer again! YOU FIENDS WILL NOT HAVE ME!" and lightning began to crackle around the dome, heavy bolts striking in random spots, mercilessly, heavily, and frequently. As lightning swirls - CRACK - around Bell, he - CRASH - continued to growl and groan with the effort. Lightning escapes from the portal, reaching near Doer. Some bolts move towards Khon, the man being a walking lightning rod, but from within the charging storm most of the bolts shoot towards Xander. Bolt. Bolt. Bolt. Bolt. Bolt. "FINE. BE THAT WAY." Xander stands, taking bolt after bolt from Bell's storm. The room begins to glow, gradually getting brighter. "BUT KNOW THIS, BELL. THE NEXT TIME YOU SEE ME, I WILL BE NOWHERE NEAR AS KIND AS I HAVE BEEN TODAY. MY PATIENCE FOR YOU IS GONE."
His body shakes and twitches as it fails to contain the sheer quantity of electricity that fills him. He looks to Khon. "PHYREXIAN. YOU FO-ught VALIANTLY, BUT If I seE YOU DEfendING THIS MONS-ah, fuck...- I... I'm leaving now..." He says as the room grows so bright that they can no longer see. When the light abates, they are no longer in the room. The room is gone. The portal is gone. Xander is gone. Even the scorchmarks on the grass are gone. Bell and Khon are outside the building that the cats found Bell resting in. The cats haven't been moved. If Vern was ever actually there, then they're with everyone else. I imagine Saia is still twisting her villainous mustache wherever she was before. Unstable Conduit: 10/10 I'm probably biased due to the sheer awesomeness of the situation, but I do love this card. Also I can appreciate the idea of dealing damage to your own things. Your Allies Turn Against You: 7/10. This... is a lot. As someone who doens't play Archenemy, I'm not familiar with how schemes should be balanced, but this one seems more powerful than your other ones. Array of Elsewheres(Assuming I'm the one rating it.): 8/10. I don't wanna do math in my fantasy card game. But I do like how it's harder to maintain with more opponents.

As the bolts rush towards him, he quickly draws out a long spear and drives it into the ground in front of him to serve as an improvised lightning rod, grimacing as some of the electric blasts still arc into him. Finally, as Michi casts his spell, the electric storm ends - though Michi will notice that both of Khon's blades remain exactly where they are. He looks at Bell, then at the two cats, before picking up his weapons once more. Stowing them away, he turns back towards the cats. "Take your brother, and depart. Regardless of what began all of this, I'm certain you see that leaving is the best thing you can do at present." Temporal Anchor Artifact Players can't take extra turns or additional steps. Spells and abilities can't cause players to skip turns or steps, or end turns. , Sacrifice Temporal Anchor: Shuffle your graveyard and hand into your library, then draw seven cards. End the turn. Activate this ability only any time you could cast a sorcery. Still assisting Bell (whether he likes it or not).

gurfafflekins Neottolemo The horn is suddenly shot down by a bolt, shattering against the animated horn but enough to cause it to fall back to the earth, landing on the ground with a heavy thud. The assembled hunters look around, confused, before their eyes drift to the one with a crossbow. She gives them a look, and the fierce hunters resume their work on skinning and gutting the slain dragon. The woman approaches the man, the woman, and the teenager, crossbow held at her side as she looks them over. "I'll not have funny business here in my camp. Now, was there something ya lot needed?" {Response Card - Lthri, Krenkeep Gamekeeper} {First ability bumps the Assassin being targeted, second ability targets the animated teal creature.} Join the Hunt: The abilities split neatly between colors, but it's a sorcery speed Afflict that is in two colors and gives less advantage. Could be stronger and still be fine. -2/-2 would be more fair. 7/10
Course of the Past: Not sure how revisiting the past creates a creature, and other colors are hard to judge. Still, the effects seem neat together, so 8/10 for being cohesive. The cost is fine, as this just gets better as the game continues. Flying is a concern though. 8/10 "What lot? I'm not with them. So, you take down this big dude yourselves? I mean, where I'm from, they'd have just poofed out of existence without leaving all this behind, so I'm just checking new things out. Don't mind me."
Don't Mind Me (‽)
Instant
Exile target creature you control, then create a token that's a copy of it. At the beginning of the next end step, sacrifice that token and return that creature to the battlefield.
Still probably counts as an assist to Bell, right?
I like Lthri, interesting tribal card. 9/10

So uh, I was gone for a while. It was a mix of things, mostly. I should be up and running again soon, I had to move out and live with my parents for a week and now I gotta figure out internet at my new apartment and I’m doing this through my phone using cellular data and — yeah.
tl;dr Gurf’s back soon, better than ever
for anyone that’s reincarnated or changed or whatever since the point I vanished, don’t worry, I plan on wrapping up most things in one smooth post anyways so

Popcornia Lthri, Krenkeep Gamemaster: I like this. I'd certainly build a commander deck around it, I think, just for the fun times. Or at least slot it in Changelings. 10/10. Neottolemo I know I don't rate your card but that card is also hella solid so if I could I'd give it a 10/10 myself. Bell grunts, turns off and vanishes in a bolt of lightning. They didn't smell like good news. Callie then laughs awkwardly and sprints away.

Some time after the events of Bell and Callie, from the smoldering crater left by his lightning appears a man who is adorned in rings, amulets, necklaces, armbands, and many other types of jewelry. All the jewelry is adorned with a stone that glows of a various color, seemingly at random. He looks around and gently strokes his beard with one hand, holding his staff, topped with a large crystal in the other. "Well, this place should do nicely. I sense many potential customers who want power." he says, a grin spreading slowly across his lips.
Nicholai has entered the arena!

A few days after the incident...(Michi the always-worried) I walk through the fields looking for some clues about where Bell and Callie went when I see a strange man in the disctance. mrlozano Michi, the Engineer: Wooooah, that static is way too good combined with those abilities. It's just sorta infinite value and stuff. I like the idea but it needs to be reduced in a couple areas. 6/10.Nicholai turns around and looks at the feline approaching. His face makes a question, and he kneels down. "Someone spoke, but was it you, kitten?" he asks, smirking. "Perhaps it is a side effect... greetings. I am Nicholai. And just who are you?" he asks, speaking loudly as though to something beyond the cat. After all, a cat could not talk directly... right? Just in case, he began to reach out mentally, in an attempt to sift through the thoughts of the animal, merely to see what language it thought in.
Mindscrape Sorcery Target opponent reveals cards from the top of their library until they reveal an artifact card. mrlozano Sever the Mind: This seems like a niche card, but I like it! In the same vein as those cards that just let you exile from your deck (which are old, but I like them) and I'd find a way to make it work in my Food Chain legacy deck. 9/10. (Horde round 2 hopefully later tonight, if not then probably Friday evening, just so you know) The presence halts, then slowly fades from the cat's mind. "Well well, my first encounter on this world being that of a speaking kitten. How curious." he says, sitting criss-cross in front of the animal. "I am a collector of trinkets and baubles. I visit this plane to add to my collection, mostly. I also sell them." he says, before looking around. "But it seems my stall has not followed me yet... oh well. It should show up eventually."Enigmatic Presence Enchantment - Aura Enchant creature Enchanted creature can't be blocked and has +1/+1 for each card your opponents own in exile. "His reality flickers and shimmers... fascinating."
As if on cue, a stall appears behind Nicholai, necklaces jangling from hooks, some rings falling from the stand and a couple bracelets falling to the side, and it's overloaded with shiny things. "Ah, there it is!"

"I'm not sure if I got something to sell. And to buy things... I meowght have some meowney." A second quick inspection reveals that I, in fact, have a small wallet with some ravnican zibs. Instant As long as this spell is on the stack, players can’t cast spells or activate abilities (This includes mana abilities). mrlozano Money for Nothing: Don't quite get the flavor, and oof split-second without split-second. I like the Maelstrom Pulse like effect, but that's pretty good on top of split second, even if only artifact and enchantment, and also instant speed. 7/10. The man thinks silently for a moment. He seemed to use his staff to walk to it, similarly to a crutch, and the rings and amulets that fell magically rose into the air and returned to their places. "Please, do as you will - who am I to stop you?" Twyla's touched by the older man's change of heart. "Aw, this means a lot to me. I wish I'd seen it before I left."Benefit of the Doubt Enchantment Creature — Sylph Benefit of the Doubt isn't a creature unless a triggered ability has been triggered this turn. Triggered abilities trigger twice. She performed miracles without even thinking — simply because no one ever told her they were impossible.4/4 Encouragement: This is tasty! 10. toadette Benefit of the Doubt: Normally I'm a fan of atypical creature names, but this one seems really non-creature like where it can't even really be twisted into one. Weird clause to make it a creature, and at each end step it stops being a creature. Which is fine I suppose, but unnecessarily weird when it could just be a 2/2 or something instead of being an enchantment at all. and even though it's technically symmetrical, I imagine the person who plays the card in the first place will have better luck using it than an opponent who gets an extra land from Wood Elves. Just look at Strionic Resonator - that's per effect, and not just a static, and I think that's for a reason. 6/10. The man faltered. "I-I believe I already said my name... anyhow, again, I am Nicholai. A humble trinket merchant." he says, looking slightly confused. "So, Twyla... what is that portal about?" he asks.Epiphany Orb Enchantment When ~ enters the battlefield, draw a card. Whenever you cast an enchantment spell, you may return ~ to it's owner's hand.

mrlozano Buy//Sell - Sell seems solid, fair riff on Harmless Offering, and Buy seems alright too. The instant speed bothers me for multiple reasons though, so Sell might need to cost differently? Either way, even at 6 mana I'm not sure Buy should be an instant. But I do like the card a lot so. 9/10. Nicholai thinks for a moment, before smiling at the cat. "You know what? First one's on the house. Take it - it's all yours, kitten." he says, it floating down. It would float onto Michi's paw, and he would feel a small shock of electricity as it sealed around his leg, and the merchant seemed to let out a sigh of relief, quickly followed by "Ah, apologies about the shock. That's just it bonding to you so you'll never lose it." he says, still smiling. But that smile does not reach his eyes.Soulless Gaze Sorcery Exile target nonland permanent that shares a name with a permanent you control.
