test Honorable Duel: This is interesting. Symmetrical draw, usable in team matches, probably mostly used just for the fight but if you can bounce them off each other to draw it's a functional mode. I think I want to give an 8.5 but I don't do those so 9/10. Whatever ones she doesn't block aren't particularly painful - hard enough for her to register she's hit, but other than that, Hilda holds back. She's hard of listening as she judges what she can do, but catches the gist of it. As Lettie blocks a small hit, she speaks. "To tell you the truth, I might be out of my element here. All I've seen on this plane are fae and these creatures that are made of metal, and you could poison me real easy if you wanted. Meanwhile I wield a spear and flames." she explains, laughing about it, landing a light hit against Lettie's shoulder. As she draws back from her swing, Lettie's slow swing is blocked, but only just. Hilda cracks a grin. "Ah, that was a good swing!" she says, motioning for them both to stop the exercise for a moment after a few more exchanges. "Yes, play duels aren't exactly like real fighting. Or, my version of real fighting. My version includes using any and all tricks available to me - no such thing as 'playing dirty'." she says, stepping forward and clapping a hand on Lettie's shoulder. "But hey, for someone who's never fought with a weapon like a branch, that was pretty good! You're right, of course, that it would be a struggle for you without any potions. But you haven't even started training yet at all, after all this was just me judging your reflexes and abilities. Say, you want some more close quarters lessons sometime?" she asks, eyes sparkling, almost like an excited puppy.Cloud Bank Creature - Wall Prevent all noncombat damage that would be dealt to ~. 0/3 Lettie nods and laughs at Hilda's comment about playing dirty, but it catches in her throat when the hand is clapped on her shoulder. She's suddenly aware of the position and pressure from the palm and each finger, and she feels as though the contact is seeping into her skin..."But hey, for someone who's never fought with a weapon like a branch, that was pretty good!"Liar, Lettie thought, her expression souring. A buzzing sensation is growing in her shoulder...
"Say, you want some more close quarters lessons sometime?"
Lettie leans back slightly as Hilda's sparkling eyes meet her own. She looks past the hollow mask. She can see what I am. That is why she lies. A sudden fright grips Lettie's mind by the back of her neck, with its other appendage digging its claws into her shoulder. She sweeps her arm upwards and strikes Hilda's hand away, tears her gaze from Hilda's, and she rushes past Hilda's right side, nearly tripping over her own dress. Once she's out of reach, Lettie has a moment to process what she had just been asked. "I... kn- d- sorry... don't know..." She neither turns around, nor lets Hilda see her face. She tries to take a few deep breaths, as to not drown in the following rush of shame. "The close... aspect of it. I don't know that I can do that..." There's a long pause, and Lettie realizes she forgot something. "I apologize for striking you. I don't know what I was thinking."Sensory Specter Creature — Specter Flying When Sensory Specter enters the battlefield, target player reveals X cards from their hand, where X is the number of creatures on the battlefield. You choose one of those cards. That player discards that card. 2/2 Cloud Bank — Partial Mark of Asylum on a body. I think it's definitely on the weak side, especially considering how hexproof is typically costed, but otherwise, it's a good concept. 8/10

Bouncearama Dodge: Name would fit better on a combat trick, and considering Turn Aside's existence, this could probably be a common and at the very least , if not . Otherwise fine I guess? 6.5/10. Hilda watches as the faerie charges, rolling her eyes as she sent a wall of flame forward, creating another stationary one behind it to guard her.Wall of Flame Sorcery ~ can't be countered by spells or abilities. ~ deals 2 damage to up to two different target creatures.

test Sensory Specter: For some reason it feels wonky, but it's fine really. It's a pretty good hand hate card, but I think that on turn 3 (being the "optimal" cast), there's probably 3-4 creatures at most (including itself), so realistically they reveal some cards they can live with discarding and you pitch something. Plus, usually after 7, diminishing returns. So, all around good. 8/10. Hilda's not expecting the sour expression, a curious one appearing on her own face. "Lettie? You alri--" she's cut off as Lettie knocks her arm away, causing her to stumble. She turns around to face her back, having caught herself. As she stumbles over her dress, her words, and evidently her feelings, Hilda lets out a small, possibly inappropriate laugh. "Sorry, I don't mean to laugh, I just... forget how forthcoming I can be. Probably should've held back a bit." she says, taking a cautious step towards her. "And hey, if you don't want to do it, don't feel like you have to! Though that arm sweep move was pretty solid - you'd probably be an alright grappler in time." she says, taking another step, loudly so the pothy could hear it. Brotherly Warband Instant Create two 1/1 white Warrior creature tokens. If a spell or ability another player controls would cause you to discard ~, exile it instead. If you do, create two 1/1 white Warrior creature tokens. "Liberty, equality, and brotherhood. Wherever, whenever we are." - Creed of the Eagle Warriors
(Supposed to be like "hey, I can cast this and help you, or you could help me, but it's your choice")

(Supposed to be like "hey, I can cast this and help you, or you could help me, but it's your choice") Lettie whirls around at the step, indignant, and keeping her eyes from meeting Hilda's again. "Forthcoming? Well, I never! Do not mistake me for one of such easy virtue!" She dusts off the front of her dress. "I meant con- close as in physical contact; I prefer to not be touched. It's ill-mannered, where I'm from, and besides, it's unpleasant. An assault on the senses." Lettie notices that she's begun to twist her fingers again, and stops herself, clenching one hand over another wrist until it's turning white along with her knuckles. "I've had to sweep many brutish hands from me before. The manners of home were arcane enough, but lately I've found that I learned them for nothing. If someone were to 'grapple' me as you describe, I don't know if I would first faint or go mad. That's why I can't do it."Skittering Quickling Creature — Faerie Flash Whenever Skittering Quickling enters the battlefield or you are dealt combat damage, return a creature you control to its owner's hand. 3/2 Brotherly Warband — Not certain we can get obstinate style abilities at common. test Skittering Quickling: I like it. It is a large risk sometimes, especially because if it tries to prevent from bouncing something it'll usually just die (unless you can order bounces?) but I think self-bounce decks would be able to use this card. 9/10. Hilda listens to her speech, listening attentively. She winces at the mention of brutish hands, looking at her own hands in concern. After she finishes, Hilda speaks. "I'm not sure I used the word 'forthcoming' correctly there. I'm not exactly... the sharpest sword in the barracks, sometimes. I meant I can be easily excitable and that... scares people off sometimes. I'll be more careful with my words." she stops and thinks for a moment. "I think it'd be good for you to learn how to fight close-quarters, and the only way to get over the fainting and madness is practiced exposure, and I'd encourage you to work on that, with me or anyone." she elaborates, thinking again, trying to make eye contact. "But obviously, if you don't want to or don't think you can, then don't do it. But I'm a teacher you know - I do this kind of stuff for a living. And I'm offering it for free." she says, laughing, smiling at her. Awkward Confrontation Sorcery Target player reveals their hand, then discards a nonland card. If they can't, that player loses 2 life. Otherwise, they lose life equal to the discarded cards converted mana cost. "All my c-cards are ou- o-on the table."

I meant I can be easily excitable and that... scares people off sometimes. I'll be more careful with my words.Lettie looks up enough to see Hilda's smile, but still doesn't make eye contact. Patient is one word. It could be understanding, as well. I don't dare hope, but...Lettie picks up her branch. "You sound so confident that it can be helped. I suppose that if it truly is for free, there's no sense in not trying." With a flash of green mana, she transmutes her branch into a bouquet of freesia, which she offers. "I accept, but I've already stayed too long, today. I will see you again." With that, she takes her leave. Awkward Confrontation — Seems to expect your opponent to be hit for three or four life to break even, which I think is reasonable. It's a neat response to something that will often be putting things in hand. The fail case is a bit disappointing, however. 9/10

Hilda sat on the ground in her tent. Her hair was let down tonight, and she sat, staring at the entrance. She glanced at the flowers Lettie had given her, smiling at them.
I will see you again.
Hilda looked up and sighed, staring at the roof of her tent. "Can I really act normal? After all I've done?" she asks no one in particular, laying down.
"Maybe the detective had a point."

gurfafflekins Somewhere near one of the areas Hilda frequently visited, a seemingly impetuous imp was enjoying itself, chucking small fireballs at the surrounding area with little care for what it hit. While there were no houses or other living things nearby, it was burning the place enough to be annoying, and likely dangerous if left unchecked. It's apparent master, however, didn't seem to notice...or wasn't particularly worried. "Come on now, you can do more than that, can't you?" A young, red-locked woman encouraged, seemingly the only thing in the area the imp hadn't attempted to torch. The imp, to her credit, began focusing on a much larger fireball, and it only looked like it was going to go downhill from there. {Attack? Card - Infernal Pyromancer}

gurfafflekins The imp, to it's credit, didn't attempt to respond with another fireball, and quickly hid behind it's summoner, who looked surprised...yet intrigued by the Pyromancer stealing the very flame out of her creature's palm. "He's just learning is all! Figuring out what he can do and what not," she answered, gently patting the imp's head before looking back to Hilda. "He doesn't mean an harm by it, nor do I!"{Response Card - Ashtrail Avenger} Sway the Weak:Since Claim the Firstborn is a thing, yeah this seems fine. I think it's safe this only gets things with power 1 or less, since 2 would be casting a very large net. 8/10

Popcornia Ashtrail Avenger: Such sultry flavor text-- Seems good. Think it wants to be "one or more creatures attack, ~ deals 1 damage to those creatures controller." or something. Anyway, neat. 9/10. Hilda looks at the cowering imp, then to it's master. "Hate to say it, but the road to the Hells is paved with good - or no - intentions." she says, stepping forward, the fire vanishing from her hand. "Proper caution should be exercised, especially with fire." she looks to her right, at the empty field, then sighs. "...But you at least started practicing in a non-populated area, which I have to give you credit for. Still, pyromancy is a very dangerous art. Left unchecked, that fire burns, and spreads to somewhere someone'll get hurt."Strict Lesson Instant Target creature loses all abilities until end of turn. gurfafflekins The imp blew a petulant raspberry at Hilda, before disappearing in a snuff of definitely on purpose flame. Hilda looked where it had been standing, and sighed, before looking back to Hilda. "It was more him than me, honestly. Sometimes things come to me, others I bring them forth. I kind of have to learn what each is like as they come."
"But if anymore like him come my way, I'll be sure to keep that in mind!" The woman seemed reasonable, at least, and at least was willing to learn. "In any case, I'm Seska, apologies for torching the fields here Miss...?"{Response Card - Envoy of Infernos} Harsh Lesson: Sure, like a temporary Pacifism, but the ability removal is more blue's thing. Popcornia Envoy of Infernos: Sure. Not sure how to feel about it biting you too, though. 8/10. "What I said still applies. Practice caution." she said sternly. Her face softened at the introduction. "I'm Hilda. Pyromancer, as you might be able to tell." she says, watching some of the fire the imp had started. She started to siphon some of the closer ones to her palm like before. "And it's fine. With a bit of damage control, I can keep this from spreading too far. Likely wouldn't even go too far on it's own - the grass gets damp not far from here. Harder to burn, as I'm sure you know. So, you're some sort of summoner?" she asks, glancing Seska up and down.Flash of Serenity Instant Prevent all noncombat damage that would be dealt to you this turn. gurfafflekins Seska seemed a bit annoyed at the question, a momentary expression before she replied. "Hoclund Academy School of Conjuration 11th Year of Study. With a focus in Aethersmithing."
As if to somehow contradict her apparent prestige, a slow-hiss was heard from behind her, as a particularly nasty serpent began to coil out from thin air, before settling around Seska's shoulders. "...With some extraneous studies that may have something to do with why this one's here."
{Response Card - Aetherfin Serpent} Flash of Serenity: Sure, this is in the ballpark for Master's Call upgrades. One rarity gets you flying tokens, the next gets you the damage prevention, I like this a lot. 10/10

Popcornia Aetherfin Serpent: I like this. In usual limited or vs a deck on curve, this is a 4 mana 3/3 flash, but token decks give it a nice boost. Or you could do it with a combo of your own tokens and I'd probably slot it in a UG EDH if I still had one. 9/10. Hilda nods as she says her school and study. "I'm not sure what half those words are. But I get you're an academic type." Hilda says, looking at the snake. She snaps her fingers, flame snapping to life and coiling onto her arm, eventually turning into a fire serpent. It's fiery tongue flicks in and out of it's mouth, as snake tongues do, staring at the less burning snake. "I can do a little of that myself." she says, the snake not burning her as it tightens it's grip on her arm.Flametongue Cobra Creature - Elemental Snake Haste Whenever ~ is blocked, it gets +X/+0 until end of turn, where X is the number of creatures you control. gurfafflekins Seska watched as Hilda conjured forth a serpentine familiar, watching as it peered at her own slithering companion. "Show off," she said, but giggling a bit. "Is it something you've found during your travels or did you make it yourself? I'm aware of living fire, but...not anyone whose capable of deciding what the fires lives as."
As if to show off on her own, the flame serpent was greeted by a second one slithering and taking its place on Seska's other side, almost a perfect replica (if the firey snake had been made of flesh instead of flames) but seemingly...off-putting at the same time. {Response Card - Disarming Shapestealer} Flametongue Cobra: I like it, and vicious with trample, which is how most red creatures are. 8/10.

The flaming serpent stared at it's copy, and let out a hiss before dissipating into the air. "They do have a mind of their own, but contrary to popular belief, the flames do enjoy being guided. Not controlled - just gently prodded along until they find fuel and a shape to fill." Hilda explains.Guide of the Flames Creature - Human Shaman , Sacrifice another red creature: ~ deals damage to target creature equal to the sacrificed creature's power. , Sacrifice another black creature: Create a 3/1 red Elemental creature token with haste. Although, flames aren't really my specialty, nor anyone else's on Hoclund. But, it's always good to expand one's field of knowledge!"A thought occurred to her, indicated by a brief look of remembrance on Seska's face. "Terribly sorry, but I think I might be missing an appointment. I hope to see you around again, some time!" Both snakes on either shoulder poofed from existence, and Seska hurriedly turned around, running off, for the time being. Guide of the Flames: Cool. 8/10PS: Hey, you came back after I did...things with Seska. So consider this a continuation of that Seska in particular.

The pyromancer didn't give chase, but also didn't seem to do anything about the grass around her foot. Perhaps she didn't notice it? She watched the one approach her, tossing the flame behind her, setting the grass behind her aflame. It snapped and licked at her heels but didn't spread far. "You faeries need help switching out a baby for a changeling? Maybe casting some sort of jealousy spell?" she asked mockingly. The fleeing faerie turns, confused. "Why would we steal a baby?" Her eyes narrow. "Do you steal babies?" Cradle Robbing Sorcery Target player reveals their hand. Exile a nonland card from it with converted mana cost 2 or less. My fairy is a 1/3 You deal 2 damage. My fairy takes 2 damage but is still alive. 1/10 Fun card but does nothing to my fairy.

cajun Cradle Robbing - Nice. 9/10. "No, but if the stories are true then you sure do. Babies go missing and are replaced with changelings in the night. Whatever you do with those kids terrifies me to think of."Mockery Sorcery You may cast ~ from exile. ~ deals 2 damage to target creature or player. If you cast ~ from exile, put it on the bottom of your library as it resolves. Wording's probably wrong, don't care

If you cast ~ from exile, put it on the bottom of your library as it resolves. The faerie flitters uneasily and looks between her friends, certain this is some sort of trick. "What would we even do with a baby? They're no fun at all. Maybe that weird coyote thing is getting them." Will of Nature Sorcery Each player reveals cards from the top of their library until they reveal a creature card with converted mana cost X, where X is 1 plus the greatest converted mana cost among creatures they control, puts that card onto the battlefield under their control, then puts the rest on the bottom of their library in a random order. "Your first duty is to your Queen, your second to your commander, and your final to ensuring the seasons turn ever onward. Let nothing stay your path." Mockey - 9/10

Just so people are aware, I probably won't be responding or doing things with battle boards for the foreseeable future. Of course, as soon as I say things like this, I usually come crawling back in a week but we'll see. For a few reasons here and there, I don't think it's for me and I don't think I'm wanted. So, feel free to post something here - maybe it'll catch my interest and coerce me to return or some crap like that.
Catch y'all on the flip side.
