Crestfallen Paladin: given how the baseline for one-drops is becoming 1/2, I'd make this a 1/2 from the start and have it gain vigilance, or at least make the bonus a power bonus. 7/10. Aylin notices Rian mourning the memory of his loved one, and silently steps away. He was just caught in the crossfire of her battle. If he's suffering right now, it's her fault, and she has no way of helping him, so she'd better leave him alone...Weight of Sorrow  Instant  Destroy target creature with converted mana cost 1. "I was never that important to begin with..." ah yes so like ghitu lavarunner okay then
Rian, head held down heavy, walks back to the cherry tree.
Weight of Sorrow: Mental Misstep but it's a kill spell and it doesn't have Phyrexian mana. 9/10 |

Alter the Craft - Absolutely lovely. 10/10
When Aylin returns to the statue, the earth has been wiped clean, as though it and her attacks on it had never occurred.
When she returns to her tent, she finds the formation had relocated as well. This time, the demon is not alone in the statue. In one hand, he is lifting a woman by her wrist, like a ragdoll. His other is pulling a familiar ring from her finger.

The soldier's eyes are clouded, and he barely hears her shouts for help. He barely even notices her until he rolls over and looks at her. "...A-Aylin..?" he whispers, unable to hear himself. Funny - moments ago she was blind with rage at everything he did. Now, here they were. He looks into her eyes, seeing the same emotions he's seen before in others. He smiles weakly. "H-hey..." he coughs. "The s-sun... may set. But we never will, huh?" he asked, voice quiet and raspy as he coughed again, still smiling up at her. Dying Vanguard  Creature - Human Soldier  Whenever ~ attacks or blocks, put a -1/-1 counter on it. "For home and country, I yield my life."2/3

Aylin stares at the Gem she just recovered, she ponders whether or not she should continue to be its guardian. She's proven she cannot protect it on her own, at least not against someone of Malextros's caliber. She originally chose to keep it to find the most powerful entities in the Multiverse, but has she gone too far?
Then again, Amrhotep entrusted her to keep it safe, and even if she faces someone as dangerous as Malextros once again, it is her responsibility. She places it once more in her finger, where it belongs, hoping she'll be stronger next time...She suddenly realizes Aiden is fatally wounded, she runs towards him and kneels right next to him, but as she's about to offer him her hand to help him up, she realizes she's still uncapable of coming into contact with somebody else."Is anybody here a healer?! Please! He needs help!" she screams desperately to the group surrounding her.She looks at Aiden straight in the eye. She may be incapable of saying her emotions out loud, but her eyes say everything: a solemn, silent thank you and a desire that he'll be alright, that he'll get back on his feet. Unfortunately, this is the best she can give him, despite he sacrificed himself for her. If Malextros hadn't broken her to the point she had no more tears left to cry, she'd probably be crying right now... hurt . I walked up, and gently (but firmly) laid a hand on the purple-haired lady's shoulder. As pretty as she was, she was also in the way .
"I'm a healer. You'll need to move if you want me to do my work."...That weird lady you met earlier (way earlier) seems different, somehow. She seems to embody the sheer stubbornness required to tell death to fuck off inherent in the whole medical profession.The effect is slightly spoiled by her biting the tip of the thumb of her thumb off and resting her bloody (is blood supposed to be glowing white?) hand on Aiden's chest. She starts mumbling a low, droning chant, apparently dead to the world around her.Life-Blessed Haltija -  :  Creature - Snake Spirit Lifelink, InfectWhen Life-Blessed Haltija enters the battlefield, target player's life total becomes 30. "Father Slither, Mother Hiss - come thee hither, withhold thy kiss."3/3 Curiosity's Bane is a neat little piece of removal - feels appropriately black (and it gets rid of those stinkin' indestructible planeswalker creatures, which is a plus in my eyes.) A 9/10. (See also what I did over on Aiden's BB. Also, yes, Hanska is not entirely aware of what she's messing with - both with Aiden and, well...) EDIT: gurfafflekins Dang it, this is what I get for missing stuff. Consider this an attack that's helping Aiden but not actually messing with Aiden's attack/defense back-and-forth? |

Rettai watches the scene from over his screens—the blast of sunlught, Aeia and Kunal diving for cover, Aylin reclaiming the ring, Aiden bleeding out on the ground. He nods, and a thopter descends, Reyhsia on the ground and casting before it's even properly landed.Reyhsia, Bloodline Seeker  Legendary Planeswalker — Reyhsia   : Up to one target creature gains lifelink and deathtouch until end of turn. If it's legendary, it gets +2/+2 until end of turn.  : You may move a counter from target permanent to another target permanent.  : Destroy target creature. If it blocked this turn, its controller loses life equal to its power.  : Each player reveals their hand. Exile all nonlegendary cards revealed this way.  (Supporting Aiden with that to remove -1/-1 counters, and maybe also the to gain a bit of life.)

Lady Mapi : Welcome back, pity you missed this whole arc, but I couldn't keep hogging the story and keeping the focus on me :/ Gurfaffle already rated your card in his BB I believe, so I don't need to rate it, right? Or were we both meant to rate it? gurfafflekins : Dying Vanguard: without the support of cards like Vizier of Remedies or something that cares about its P/T on ETB, this is basically a 1/2 when it first attacks/blocks and then gets worse. I recognize the combo potential, but I think it should at least be a 3/3. 6/10. (also, don't forget to rate Cyber) Aylin feels Hanska's hand on her shoulder and a cold shiver courses through her entire body. She's about to punch the healer (out of the crater if necessary), but she did call for a healer for Aiden, and she realizes the woman is doing just that (even if her methods are weird to say the least). Malextros has already broken her enough with the memory of her trauma, she's tired, she feels no need for more pain to be caused or more blood to be shed, not today at least.Strength from Weakness Instant  Target creature gains deathtouch until end of turn. If that creature has a -1/-1 counter on it, it gains indestructible until end of turn. "Those of us who lack the muscle power must seek our strength elsewhere."

Strength from Weakness: Seems neat - nice effect and response type thing. 9.5/10 - specifically to round your .5 to a smooth number  I got your back (and if someone else gives you a .5, take that 10 bruh) cyberchronometer Reyhsia, Bloodline Seeker: +1 seems fine, I like it. 0 seems neat, I like shuffling stuff. -2 feels a little weird - maybe if it started at 4? It could probably afford to do that anyway and maybe do a -7 that way. -6, Neat Reyhsia ultimate, I like it. 9/10.

gurfafflekins: Ominous Shudder: Given Electrickery this card doesn't seem very good, except maybe with enrage. 6,5/10. (I'm giving you the ,5 because it's guest system so it doesn't really matter  ) Aylin feels the tremor and immediately gets on edge. Could this be the work of the person behind the mysterious statues? She needs to investigate this immediately!Heightened Sensitivity Instant Until end of turn, creatures you control gain "When this creature is dealt damage, each opponent loses that much life". Only through understanding the pain we cause to others can we better ourselves.

WindyDelcarlo : Overwhelming Gratitude: given Idyllic Tutor vs Enlightened Tutor and given Spellseeker, the fact that this can net you a greater advantage in 2HG or something of the sort makes me feel like it should cost more. 6/10. WindyDelcarlo : Careful Offer: I enjoy Tempting Offer cards, this one is pretty tough to rate though, because at I feel it can be too powerful, but at I feel it would be too weak in the worst case scenario. I'm giving this an 8/10. Aylin makes a gesture with her hand indicating Hannah to stop.
"No, I'm sorry, but I don't do hugs" she says grimly "For what it's worth, I appreciate the gesture..."Familiar Obstination Instant Until end of turn, if an opponent would draw a card, that player may skip that draw instead. If that player doesn't, ~ deals 2 damage to them. "You have to know you've lost, doesn't it sound familiar?"

The earth rumbles around Aylin once again. A large obsidian pillar rises cleanly from the ground. The black glass molds itself into the triumphant figure of Malextros, standing triumphant, the Gem of Allure shining on his finger.
She can feel it mocking her with every inch of its existence. cajun: Malextros's Triumph: yup, this sums up Malextros pretty well, and I appreciate that you went for an artifact rather than an enchantment given my colors XD. 10/10. Aylin's fists begin shaking violently. This is enough! She focuses her energy and rage, then throws a punch that obliterates the statue, collapsing it into millions of tiny shards. She shakes her hand to get rid of the mild pain this caused her."You've given yourself away..." she says to the air surrounding her.The Gem of Allure sensed the energy output required to create such statue and pointed her in a general direction. She still can't pinpoint the exact location, but she'll get it soon. She focuses her energy and rage once more, this time on her foot. She kicks the earth, creating a massive fissure that shoots in the direction the Gem claims to have felt the disturbances coming.Heretic's Revenge Instant Destroy target artifact. ~ deals damage to that artifact's controller equal to the artifact's converted mana cost. While Aylin lashes out at the Atlas, she misses the white gas settling to the ground. She misses the black tendrils of smoke free to the world once more. Even the fragment of Malextros left behind can feel the Gem.

How're you holding up from the whole... demon thing?" he asked, maintaining a respectable distance. "Sorry about... covering you in searing light. That was an unintended side effect."Aryn, Phoenix's Soldier Legendary Creature - Rhino Soldier First Strike Other Rhinos you control have first strike. Whenever a nontoken Rhino you control deals combat damage to a player, create a 4/4 white rhino creature token. gurfafflekins : Aryn, Phoenix's Soldier: I was gonna complain about this card being too efficient until I realized it said "nontoken". I like it a lot, ironically I see it more in a voltron-esque commander rather than tribal given there's not that many good monowhite rhinos. Also, super minor nitpick, I'd prefer the tokens to also be Soldiers since otherwise I imagine them as wild rhinos XD. 9/10. "Sorry about... covering you in searing light. What are you doing? she mentally reproaches herself You should be apologizing to him! Because of you he ended with a giant hole in his abdomen! "And..." she begins, but then pauses. A tense silence fills the space between them. Aylin sighs, then continues "Thank you, Aiden, for helping me with Malextros..."Storm Through Sorcery Target creature gets +1/+0 until end of turn and gains double strike and menace until end of turn. "Don't ever bother trying to put yourself in my way!"
(As you can see, this card is perfectly in flavor with the story moment) cajun cyberchronometer Arm of Malextros: stop being better at doing my characters than I am! Super cool, super solid. 10/10. This vessel is flawed thinks Malextros bitterly as his body reforms from the mist and becomes complemented by the aether But it'll have to do for now...
He extends his hand and grabs Aylin from behind as she's heading somewhere else, dragging her towards him.
"Now, let's finish our business, shall we?" he says, smiling sadistically.
Aylin's eyes open wide when she sees him once more.
"No... No!!!" she screams desperately, instinctively coating her fist with an earthen gauntlet and punching the demon in the face.
The blow hits her enemy squarely, dislocating his jaw. He drops her and takes his hand to his face.
"That didn't work last time..." says Aylin, a devious smile suddenly forming in her face "This time I can beat you myself!"
As Malextros fixes his jaw, Aylin punches him with enough strength to push him backwards, even if she didn't manage to knock him over.
"Care to join?" asks Aylin when she notices Lyfaen.
She lifts her hand and dozens of spikes rise from the earth, levitating just above her head. Before she can do anything else, Malextros's mist surrounds her and shoots towards her wrists, shackling them and pulling down to drag her to the ground. She falls to her knees and the spikes drop. She glares murderously at the demon, who's extending a hand at her, then focuses to levitate the spikes without her hands, shooting them at him.Turn the Page Sorcery Exile all graveyards. For each different card type among cards exiled this way, you draw a card and you lose 1 life. "Time to bury the past and start looking towards the future!"

The soldier nods, glad she forgave him. He knows they've had their differences, but he assumed she had her reasons for being so disagreeable and violent. He looks at her, unsure what to do during the tense silence. "Thank you, Aiden, for helping me with Malextros..." He smiled at her again. "Don't even worry about it. Given another chance, I'd do it again the same way." he said. He wondered if he meant that, knowing what he knows now... his chest pulsed with warmth. "But that's not why I'm here. I... you might not see me again." he blurted out, not beating around the bush. "I thought I'd let you know. And I..." he took a deep breath. This was harder than he thought it would be. "You're not as bad as you think. We all have that nagging voice in our skull - I've lived with mine for 43 years. Don't let yours get to you." as he spoke, his new fangs were visible in his mouth for a flash - he hadn't gotten used to hiding them. Stalking Soldier Creature - Vampire Soldier ~ can't be blocked by creatures with power 2 or less.  : Tap target land. It's controller gains 1 life. 2/2 Stalking Soldier has indestructible because of Aiden of Sunspear. Storm Through: Honestly, awesome response. I'd say it could be common, but because of how much I like this 10/10.

Turn the Page - a unique effect and a clever way of clearing out the Arms. Love it. 10/10(will let korakhos play out the ending here since both characters at play are his.) cyberchronometer Lyfaen's a strange one here, but i like what they're doing. 5/5

gurfafflekins : Stalking Soldier: Nothing about this card feels particularly white (except maybe giving your opponent life as a downside), white can tap artifacts and creatures, but I found no precedent of it tapping lands. The first ability is straight up . If it were in color it would rate higher (even though the first ability wants you to attack and the second one wants to hold back), but as is, I have to give it a 3/10. "But that's not why I'm here. I... you might not see me again."Aylin doesn't even blink at the news. She's a planeswalker, she isn't meant to stay on the same place for too long, so she can't afford to make friends. The last time she got emotionally attached to someone, that someone had been Darios, and not being able to see him anymore made her die a little every day."You're not as bad as you think. We all have that nagging voice in our skull - I've lived with mine for 43 years. Aylin shoots the spikes at Malextros hoping to pierce his helmet one more time, but he's learned from their last encounter and raises his arm, creating a white shield-like barrier that absorbs the impact."I have acquired new powers since we last met. Courtesy of your friend Arina!" he says maliciously as he smiles.White mist begins to emanate from his body, mixing with the dark mist and creeping up Aylin's shackles, burning her skin when it comes into contact with it. She begins writhing both in pain and in an attempt to break free."Even in this weaker body I am more powerful than you... don't even bother" he says sadistically. As he enjoys her torture, however, Lyfaen intervenes. Apparently, this surrogate body doesn't has senses as enhanced as his real one, and the planeswalker can join the fray for enough time to create a diversion.Come on, you can do it! speaks a voice inside Aylin's head, but it sounds... weird. This voice isn't the same taunting voice that torments her daily. It is a voice that seems to be made of many others: Aiden, Arina, Chrysoplei, Hannah, Hanska, Lumen, Rian, even Amrhotep, Darios and her parents! There's countless more voices in there, all encouraging to get up and fight. Finding new vigor inside her, she stands up, breaking free of her shackles.
"You're wrong! I am more powerful!" she says defiantly "True, I'm flawed, but guess what, there are people here who are willing to accept me despite my flaws! There's many of us, enough to beat you over and over again! You are alone, and you will always be! And once I defeat you, nobody will be there to help you get back on your feet!"
She points a rock-covered fist at him. Her fist seems to explode like a hundred cannons as the rocks coating it shoot violently at Malextros, with enough speed for him not to be able to react, enough numbers to hit every single inch of his body and enough strength to completely obliterate his body. Aylin carefully controls the stones to bypass Lyfaen. Maybe self-control is the way to go sometimes...
Aylin has discovered the power of friendship! spent 500 valor and increased her CMC limit to 15!
White mist begins to slither its way to the secluded corner of the Arena where Malextros is slowly regaining his true form. This aether he's managed to assimilate seems to be empowering him and helping accelerate the healing process. Once he's recovered, it may even prove to be a valuable weapon!

She shaped her sculptures with geomancy of impossible grace and delicacy - stone was the finest of clay under her careful fingers. And the people! Everyone she met on her way to the market treated her with respect - for once, it didn't seem to come from fear. She reached the market square, and saw a statue covered in a sheet. Aylin reached out and tugged off the sheet, to general applause. Underneath was the spitting image of Darios, healthy and smiling, carved into pure granite. And then she woke up. Pleasant Dreams - Sorcery As an additional cost to cast Pleasant Dreams, tap an untapped creature you control. Draw two cards.

Aiden looks at her for a second. Oh. He realizes she misunderstood - he... he smiled at her. "Stay safe out there Aylin. From the looks of it, lots of people depend on you." he said. He didn't mention his years of starvation, parental abandonment, and the death of his family and everything he'd ever known changed in the blink of an eye. She didn't know that - and he didn't know her past. Funny how that worked.
