ZephyrPhantom: That was pretty quick, indeed. The last time a pack I submitted got filled so quickly was when I made En'ia in the old site. That pack was filled in 29 hours and 50 min. Thanks for joining, everyone! Judging in a few.

dangerousdice : - Sand-Eater Fanatic: Very nice bear with mechanic. Getting to three lands takes a while, so I think the buff is just right. Wording could use some cleaning up, though. I think it would be better as "Desolate — As long as you have three or more lands in your graveyard, ~ gets +1/+0 and has menace." 4.5/5
- Bone Bastion: Mana production rarely exists in nowadays, but I think this is okay in conjunction with the -1/-1 counters. Also, truth be told, given how limited its mana ability is, I could even argue that you could decrease the cost to . 4/5
- Sand-Formed Shackles: I have a number of concerns with this design. First off, while keywording sacrificing a land when you cast a spell is okay, I don't like its implications. When you sacrifice a land, you, the player, get depleted of resources, not the spell. The spell being depleted makes no sense. Another thing, I don't know if this is a typo, but -0/-4 does not belong in . The -0/-X effect has been theorized to belong to the color purple; among the existing colors, though, it belongs to the most. If it was a typo and is actually -4/-0, I'd say this is quite overcosted. 1/5
- Ghaldr Peace-Marker: Despite the Desolate drawback, I'm very concerned about putting a Propaganda effect at common, particularly one that doesn't allow mana taxation. 1/5
- Danza, Dune-Wraith: Power equal to the number of a specific land type at uncommon has so far only existed in one card, AFAIK, and the bump to a legendary should allow for the reduction in cost. The addition of another color could account for the Desolate ability, which appears powerful at first glance, but its limitation to Sand creatures makes it quite weak since there aren't a lot of of existing Sand creatures, even among the cards in the pack. Again, the wording could use quite a bit of cleaning up. 4/5
- Randal, Mad Planographer: Randal is a weird mix of too strong and too weak. The static plus ability seems a bit weak to be honest. Even the oldest three-mana walkers got abilities with minor benefits. While Randal's is a that gives you no benefits other than the counters, you have to work for it by attaining Desolate. On the other hand, the first minus ability is a tad undercosted. The relative new Kaito Shizuki creates an unblockable 1/1 token for , so I think it should cost about this amount. As for the "ultimate," it's repeatable land destruction, which I'm quite uncomfortable with. Nonetheless, I can see the direction you wanted to take with this card, and I commend you for making it at least cohesive with the other cards you submitted. 3/5
- Average: 2.92/5
melono :
- Bare the Truth: Deprive with a limited land selection, allowing for the addition of a new keyword. I like it. While choosing a keyword like excoriate seems appropriate for a desert plane, I think you could select a keyword synonymous to "weaken" instead so that it has more potential in appearing in other sets, e.g., diminish. Also, based on Scar, I'd say you can cost this particular instance of your keyword ( plus for essentially having an additional mode). You could also instead put a number for more flexibility, e.g., "Diminish 1— (, Discard this card: Put a -1/-1 counter on target creature.)" 4/5
vizionarius :
- Roused Dunes: I like this Zendikon iteration with the land salvage effect replaced by a scry effect in order to feed Desolate.
There's one important clause missing, though: "It's still a land." This heavily affects how good the card is. 3/5 5/5 - Blazing Oases: I've got nothing bad to say. I think it's very printable. 5/5
- Average: 5/5
moweda :
- Emaciated Hippo: A hippo that shrunk to the size of a badger, with the appropriate, logical story behind it, too. Wonderful. 5/5
pernicious : fluffydeathbringer :
- Human Resources: Chilling, on-point flavor that very organically allows for the use of -1/-1 counters on a very effect. Cost-wise, however, comparing Tangelwrap (minus for being modal) and Stinging Shot (5 damage to flying creature vs three -1/-1 counters + a minor effect) to Sandblast, this might be better costed at . I normally deduce 1 point for costing disagreements, but in this case, the flavor is simply so good, so I'm instead giving it a 4.5/5.
- Grasp for the Depths: Given the sheer number of options "sacrifice a permanent" offers a player compared to naming a single permanent type, I'd say this would be better costed at . 4/5
- Average: 4.25/5
ZephyrPhantom - Fierce Erosion: I think this is quite balanced. The 3 damage to the permanent's controller seems a smidge high for an additional effect, but I think it's okay given how difficult the hoop you need to jump through is. Very minor nitpick: I don't think the word "additional" is necessary, considering the targets of the initial damage. Using Egon Riemenschneider from my plane of Aria makes up for it, though. Haha! 5/5
The winners are moweda and ZephyrPhantom , with dangerousdice as runner-up (whom I selected despite their average score due to the sheer volume of contribution in terms of world-building and mechanics). moweda and ZephyrPhantom , you can discuss between yourselves who will create the next booster pack. You can also choose to pass it along to dangerousdice ; they seem particularly . . . eager. Great job, guys! And thanks for playing. P. S. Sorry for taking a while. I don't have as much free time as I used to. Edit: vizionarius now also shares in the win following a clarification.

I'm just glad the card turned out good at the rate the pack was filling. =P I still like Egon's concept quite a bit and I've been hoping to sneak him in somewhere for a while - the interesting state of this plane seemed like a great place to do so. moweda - I'm okay with you taking first pick on whether you want to decide to make a pack or not, I've got a lot going on so making + judging a pack would be a little slow on my end.

It becomes a "land creature." It's a deviation from usual template a bit because I wanted it to be a Desert as well, and thought it would be clearer to state fully what it became, with all card types and subtypes all in the same phrase. I agree, it wouldn't nearly be as good without it remaining a land.

I was costing Human Resources off the recent Wanderer's Intervention, but maybe -1/-1 counters are so valuable that I should've been more cautious anyway

Thanks Fermat and congrats to the other winners! That was a really cool plane and I'm glad I got a chance to contribute. ZephyrPhantom Thanks for the offer. This challenge thread requires a lot from the winner/judge and it's humbling to have that opportunity. I don't have a concept in mind yet, but I will take a day or two and try to come up with something as cool as the last challenge.

I agree, it wouldn't nearly be as good without it remaining a land. Aw, crap. I missed it not only because of the aforementioned shift from the usual templating, but also because it was "Sand land." Judging Erratum: vizionarius 's Roused Dunes is now also rated a 5/5, making their average a 5/5. As such, it is now a triple tie between moweda , ZephyrPhantom, and vizionarius . My sincerest apologies.

Bleak: City of LightBleak has always been known as the City of Shadows and is the UB representative in the metapelago. The metapelago is a cluster of elemental mini-planes with a thinner-than-usual membrane separating them, known as the metasphere. Each miniplane contains the essence of an elemental force in the Universe: shadow, growth, chaos, etc and only mana of the corresponding color pair. Some denizens have figured out methods to traverse the various miniplanes when metaspheric conditions are correct. Bleak is a city in permanent darkness, as no sun exists in the plane. The surrounding land is encased in permanent ice. The people and creatures that survive there are those who truly thrive in the cold, dark shadows. Power struggles are constant; subterfuge and deception are the means to holding that power. The metapelago has been in stasis for many generations. Until recently, that is. Radical changes to the planes have occurred without any warning or known cause. Bleak is no exception. Suddenly, a sun has appeared in Bleak's sky! It is not within the plane but is visible through the metasphere, leading some to call it the metasun. This sun never sets, changing what was once a plane of permanent shadow into one of permanent light. The ice is rapidly melting, revealing pristine new lands containing an enormous bounty of raw resources, both mundane and magical. A flood of new denizens have appeared like a gold rush. Meanwhile, the older residents are scurrying to adapt to the new conditions. Is the appearance of the metasun a boon or a bane to Bleak? Who could have caused this change and why? Find out in Bleak: City of Light! ----- Ok, hopefully that blurb contains enough information to get the plane started. - It's a UB plane focused on a city. - It has suddenly been invaded by all the other colors via a new sun appearing. - Some travel to other color-pair miniplanes is possible. - There are lots of resources suddenly available. - Main UB faction represents the element of shadow, interpreted however you choose. - WGR represent the incursion of light, again interpret that as you like. - It's not specified in the blurb, but I would like to see non-traditional races. It can be races that currently exist and are just less common or new races, but please no humans/elves/etc. All my sample card ideas keep feeling like I am going to bias the way you folks approach this. So I am not going to provide any unless requested. I'm really curious to see what you all as a group come up with! Bleak before: Now:

Common #1Conjure Grit Instant Creatures you control get +0/+4 until end of turn. Claudia had cast this spell dozens of times before, and yet never did it have the warmth it had now. This is my means of mechanically introducing the non- colors into the plane.

There's a lot of mana-sinking effects, a good chunk of them demanding or rewarding , no less. I think this is fitting, given the 'character''s description and direction of the set. Xolim, the Nourishing Sun Legendary Creature - Elemental At the beginning of your precombat main phase, choose one: • Add for each token you control. • Add for each Mountain you control. • Add for each creature you control. 2/2 "The world shall rejoice in my endless gardens of light."I debated making him just but for the sake of balance costed him at 4 instead. Didn't want to make them too wildly better than Circle of Dreams Druid. moweda - Pack's all done and ready to be judged
