as promised in my uncommon 3 post, heres a bonus card.
--BONUS-CARD--
you dont need to judge this cards if you dont want to, as their not part of the booster!
mythic rare ? ? ?
as the battle between the movements raged on, Egon chuckled, before preparing to do something that would imprint his legacy upon the plane forever...
as the battlefield descended into musical chaos, a strange, unearthly humming began to fill the air, unlike anything else ever heard on the plane...
before everything was suddenly, and absolutely, silenced...
utter silence - ::w::::w::
instant -
phase out all permanents.
instants and sorceries cannot be cast this turn.
exile utter silence.
*the battle stopped with the sudden agony of hundreds of voices silenced, the plane's soul itself recoiling from the disturbance.*

foureyesisafish - Ah, snap, I'd honestly completely missed the discussion above, sorry. Would you prefer if I withdrew my entry? EDIT: Or I suppose given what's going on right now + the last time an extra card made its way into the pack, we could just have all the cards be judged. I'm thinking of errataing this challenge to say something like "It's okay if a pack goes past the rare limit/over capacity" so that people don't feel like they have to race with each other to fill the rare slot. Fermat - Feel free to give input if you'd like - the pack's definitely full and ready to be judged, at least.

edit: I really like your egon! I tried to make a planeswalker for him, but I couldnt settle on a design i likedd. I also like your interpretation of him trying to be good, but failing and making things worse!
edit edit: how do you tag people? ive seen people do it, but i dont know how to do it myself.

I guess everybody‘s waiting for someone else to post the last uncommon because they all have a rare/mythic at the ready. Hey, extra points for the person who comes up with a planeswalker with Harmony. (Note: I‘m not the judge. There are no extra points. This is just a joke.) bonus points huh... behold! varian, arc-singer!
Varian, arcsinger -
legendary planeswalker - varian -
Harmony — If you cast another spell this turn that shares a card type with this, Varian, arc-singer enters the battlefield with 2 additional loyalty counters.
: If you cast 2 spells that this turn that share a card type, put a loyalty counter on Varian, arc-singer and draw a card.
: tap target creature. it doesnt untap at the beginning of their controllers next endstep.
L3
::ameisenmeister::, I thought you might enjoy this!
edit: im joking of course. (or am I..?)

People seem to be very enthusiastic. Here's a legendary of my own. Greta, Sublime Diva Legendary Creature — Human Advisor Indestructible Creatures you control are equipped. "The greatest instrument is that which almost everyone already possesses. Learn under me, child, and feel invincible while bathed in song."1/1 Judging (I decided to limit my judging to whole numbers as I'm a bit harried): ZephyrPhantom : - Crescendo: I honestly liked your initial version more (with a slight cost adjustment), as I'm a tad wary of unrestricted instant or sorcery copying at common, regardless of the cost. I remember someone telling me (I can't remember who) that an overcosted card for an effect usually slated at a higher rarity does not a common make. I do appreciate the attempt to create synergies with harmony, though. 2/5
- Rest: I like this idea but it's currently very limited, as it only lasts your turn. Given the cost, I think you could've pushed this to "Until your next turn, noncreature spells cost more to cast." 3/5
- Egon, Conductor of the First: Given that white does have flash for creatures, I think if we were to ever push color pie for an effect such as this, it would probably be in white, possibly red. It seems pretty balanced, and I'm curious to see what your plot development is that allows him to ascend from Presto to Conductor. 5/5
- Average: 3.33/5
- Quest for Adia's Strand: Oof! Repeatable three-card draw on a CMC 2 common regardless of the hoops you need to jump through is a huge no-no for me, mate. 0/5
- Brass Charger: Now this is more like it! I must admit, I don't get the reference, aside from my knowledge that there are plates called "brass chargers." If it were referring to those and the "charger" is intended as a pun, then I am delighted. I like this very much, but it could stand to be costed , , or get upgraded to an uncommon. 4/5
- Conductor's Rapier: This is a it hard to judge as untriggered, it's very weak, and triggered, it's bordering on too strong for a common. Also note the following flavor concerns: 1) Should a Conductor's Equipment really be common? 2) Remember that there is a Conductor for each Movement. A general Conductor's Baton should probably be rare or mythic, colorless, and have an effect that would be acceptable for all colors. 2/5
- Melodic Mist: I'm deferring judgment for this. Can this enchant a land an opponent controls? Because the templating is a bit... confusing.
- Silenced Lurcher: A bit of a nonbo with the set mechanics, but I like it nonetheless. It's that defiant card in the set that refuses to play nice, and I'm all for it. 4/5
- Chilling Chorus: While I love the idea of playing with the chord mechanic, with you only getting the full effect if you strike a chord (well, partly, as striking a chord requires different CMCs), there are some problems with the card. The individual effects themselves are weak plus the need to tap at least one creature to get one effect makes me think the base card needs to cost less. Also, returning an instant/sorcery to your hand is primarily a blue effect, and is a much more costly effect than the other two. Remember that when making modal cards, the effects need to be more or less balanced. The unbalanced draw/discard is a bit of an eyesore too. 2/5
- Average: 2.4/5
- Second Movement Adagio: Very nice. I almost wish it were in another color with a different effect so as to see functional reprinting in other sets, like a Selesnya card for Ravnica because of convoke. 5/5
- Melody of Foresight: I'd say tapping three creatures with different CMC is a rather steep cost for an additional card. Still quite nice, nonetheless. 3/5
- Average: 4/5
- Bound by Melody: A very nice, perfectly costed card that could see a lot of functional reprints, say in Vehicle-heavy sets or sets with convoke. 5/5
- Tune of Renaissance: I'm not as confident about the cost compared to your earlier entry, but I think it's just about right. I do love the synergy with harmony. 5/5
- Average: 5/5
- Chorus of Wolves: A nice variation on the effect. 3/5
As much as I'd like to judge the additional cards, I'm a little short on time, so...
The winner is ameisenmeister , with gamma3 as runner-up.
Great job, guys! And thanks for playing.

Congrats to the winner!
I'm going to errata the "It's okay if a pack goes past the rare limit/over capacity" rule in for the time being and see if it addresses the "waiting for the rare slot" problem in future rounds of the game.

Thanks for the win Fermat ! For our next set we're going to revisit an already known world, but kinda not. Prepare for... Art by Antonio J. Manzanedo As you might already know, Torrezon is not a plane itself but a continent on the same plane as Ixalan. The vampires of the Legion of Dusk came from there as well as most of the pirates. Torrezon was once a continent with many rivaling kingdoms and also a monastery in the mountains where Elenda the Dusk Rose was one of many nuns and monks that guarded the immortal sun. Raided and plundered by a warlord named Pedron the Wicked the monastery failed to protect the Immortal Sun which was then carried away by Azor to the continent of Ixalan. Elenda took the curse of immortality and vowed to live as a vampire until she retrieved the artifact. After failing to find it, she taught the rite of transformation to other nobles of Torrezon so they could join her in her quest. Centuries of searching later, she located the artifact in the Golden City of Orasca but could not reach it. She put herself into an enchanted sleep to awake when the merfolk Kumena claimed the Golden City. In her absence, however, the Dusk Legion she had inspired had changed immensly. The curse of immortality hasn't been primarily used to reclaim the Golden Sun but rather to subdue the whole continent of Torrezon. The vampiric nobles had become greedy and unstoppable regents with the iron-fisted Queen Miralda at the top. Although the Legion of Dusk is, in fact, searching for the Golden Sun, their main goal is to use its power for their own benefit instead of protecting it. On this quest, the vampires of the legion show no mercy towards neither the inhabitants of Ixalan nor to the pirates of the seas, drinking their blood to still their unholy thirst. Shocked, Elenda turns back to Torrezon to confront the Legion, accompanied by numerous followers - among them the devout Mavren Fein who thinks of her as a saint. There, some members of the Legion bow to her, accepting her message of humility as the only path to salvation, but others opposed her, clinging to the power system established on the continent and renouncing Elenda's teachings.
{Queen Miraldas Dusk Legion}
The shake up of the continent's major power because of its fail to reclaim the Golden Sun on Ixalan has also immensely fueled the spirit of rebellion among those not content with Queen Miralda's rule. The free cities of the coast, once subdued by the vampires, secretly worked on new ways to fight their oppressors and the weakened position of the central state now makes them commit to their rebellion on a new level. The Arcane Alliance uses their creativity and craftsmanship to construct mechanical beasts and, weapons and armor that can match the supernatural power of the Legion's vampires and they fight not only for their freedom from oppression but for the end of Miralda's reign and the eviction of those who took the curse of immortality. For many of them, only a dead vampire is a good vampire.
Adding to the struggles that are facing Torrezon from within, there's also an outside force trying to extend its influence on the continent. The Sun Empire - the dominant power on the continent of Ixalan - crossed the Shipwreck Sea with giant canoes full of tamed battle dinosaurs and the best soldiers the empire can offer. The empire's king Apatzec Intli III has been inebriated by his conquest of the Golden City and now reaches his hand to the east, eager to take the reins on Torrezon.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kind of mirroring Ixalan with its two shard and two enemy pair factions, Torrezon has two wedge and two ally pair factions: - Disciples of the Living Saint These are the vampires and humans that reject what the Legion of Dusk has become and instead follow Elenda's message of salvation through humility. Although showing compassion and clemency, Elenda's devouts are far from harmless and see the church of the dusk rose - the empire/religion of Queen Miralda - as an usurper force that must be abolished by all costs. Their mechanical identity is about growth. Life gain matters and land matters is their thing, all glued together by their keyword edify - a slight hommage to explore from the Ixalan set. - the Dusk Legion These are the vampires and humans that are under the command of the iron fisted Queen Miralda. They see Elenda not as a living saint but as a relic from the past that has long been overcome, a bad omen that brings weakness and disorder to Torrezon. Her disciple Mavren Fein is despised as a traitor to the crown. Their mechanical identity is about power. The queendom is severly weakened but it still has some tricks up its sleeves. The keyword plunge gives cards effects that can be triggered by being put into the graveyard - no matter whether its from the battlefield, the hand or the library.
After centuries of oppression, the once free coastal cities have secretly worked to overcome their yoke. A league (or more a loose network) of individualists and freedom fighters perfected their abilities to create mechnical devices that stand more than a chance against the so-called immortal sovereigns. Their mechnical identity is about artifact creatures. They don't have a keyword but are all about powerful constructs, swift vehicles and even turning themselves into mechanical wonders.
- the Sun Empire The Immortal Sun is gone but the triumph of having conquered the Golden City has stirred the ambition of the young king Apatzec from Ixalan. Controlling a massive army of jungle warriors and full grown battle dinosaurs, the forces of Ixalan's powerful empire reach the shores of Torrezon with the intent to stay. Their mechanical identity is about combat. Their keyword Wreak lets creatures deal double damage to players, giving their opponents a hard time to either take brutal hits or to lose their defenders to monstrous jaws and razor-sharp obsidian weapons.
So there you have it. Where Ixalan was all pirates vs. dinosaurs vs. vampires, Torrezon is vampires vs. dinosaurs vs. robots. I actually found the Ixalana backstory and world building more and more impressive and immersive the more I read into it so I figured that the setting deserves a sequel.
Some final notes on the set: - although Ixalan was all about tribals, Torrezon is not a tribal set but more about mechanics and story - even though it already features three new mechanics, I kinda feel like there'd be room for a returning mechanic too. Feel free to add one if you think that you found a good fit but don't feel obliged to. (Warning: I'm rather picky with mechanics.) - there shouldn't be vampires in or at least not at common rarity, but feel free to design some orcs or goblins as those are native to Torrezon (but were subdued and/or ousted by the Legion of Dusk centuries ago) Have fun!

common 1
vicious trainer - creature - human warrior
soulbond dinosaur (You may pair this creature with another unpaired dinosaur creature when either enters the battlefield. They remain paired for as long as you control both of them.)
paired creature gets +1/+0 and wreck. 1/1
edit: the mechanic is written as "soulbond CHARACTERISTIC (You may pair this creature with another unpaired CHARACTERISTIC creature when either enters the battlefield. They remain paired for as long as you control both of them.) " it is found in every color.

Common #2:Cmon, it's ixalan, but a different continent. Some things never change Goldspine Frillback Creature - Dinosaur Cascade (When you cast this spell, exile cards from the top of your library until you exile a nonland card that costs less. You may cast it without paying its mana cost. Put the exiled cards on the bottom of your library in a random order.)The frillbacks have already adapted to nearly every predator in Orazca. The vampires and machines weren't very different.4/2 The mechanic I want to bring back is cascade, representing the chaos brought by this battle. Cascade is in all colors but it's centered in the same colors as its last appearance, GUR. Of course, cascade opens up the opportunity for an Annoyed Altisaur reprint.

Common #6
Fist of Blazing Suns Creature - Human Warrior When Fist of Blazing Suns attacks, target creature an opponent controls must block this turn, if able. Wreak (This creature deals double combat damage to players) "I fight in the name of my emporer. What do you fight for, foul wretch?"2/2 To my fellow competitors: I worry that Cascade and Soulbond <thing> are both too complex for a set with three new keywords, especially considering the warning at the end of the prompt.

Common #8I think people could see me sticking cascade on another common coming. Spelljaw Dreadmaw Creature - Dinosaur Trample Cascade If you hear the ground quake, it is probably already too late6/6 Based on Annoyed Altisaur from Commander Legends, I think a strictly better colossal dreadmaw is fine. Also, noticing a certain... bias in my entries? Sorry for literally only putting cascade on dinosaurs so far, I will fix that with my next card.

haste
when ~ dies, cascade. if a creature would be put on the battlefield this way, it enters the battlefield with an additional +1/+1 counter and gains haste until the end of the turn.
3/2Not how cascade works, I'm afraid. It's a keyword ability, not a keyword action, and it only functions as a cast trigger.

Mythic #1Time to make a completely off-the-wall, world-destroying riff on a classic Rivals of Ixalan legend. Zacama, End of Torrezon Legendary Creature - Elder Dinosaur Hexproof, menace, reach, trample, vigilance. Cascade Whenever Zacama, End of Torrezon enters the battlefield, if you cast it, untap all lands you control. Spells you cast have cascade. 11/11 This is... definitely the most ridiculous mythic I have ever designed. An all-color, cascadified version of Zacama. No activated abilities this time, but still have the keywords and that enter-the-battlefield effect. I could see this being either a dominant force or not present at all in the meta.

"the monarchy falls tonight! onwards! - Marvoni the undying" 3/2 NOTE: im not sure if "die in combat" works rules-wise, but it's a cool trigger!
