ameisenmeister - Totally A-OK. I'm always lenient in what a challenge has to be about, and just token generation that names a creature type was actually something that I thought would happen with my wording of my challenge (which means I'm totally fine with it).

Well, those are the 8 hours I gave for extra entries. Judgment shall commence. {judging} viriss - That’s a pretty interesting card that makes me think of Skeletal Vampire, but then it can be any bat that’s saved, instead of the producer of the tokens. Question though, why not simply have the card say: Sac a bat: Bats have indestructible? Instead of making a whole new keyword. Also, I didn’t realize I was looking at batman until you said it ameisenmeister - Token generation and a lure-like effect. Nice. The have to block is a pretty novel way of luring (to me at least), as the opponent can still choose how they block, making it not OP, as you will have to assign attackers in such a way that you can take out the assigned blocker, while not having other blockers mess up your plans too much. The token generation is also pretty nice, and costly enough still with its bear-cost and you having to cast creatures. Really liking this card. Boogymanjunior - Imp and Bat tribal? Not something you see every day. Or any set really. (Though there is another one in this contest funnily enough). I like how the attacking vermin actually pays for the activated ability, making you more likely to just attack with reckless abandon as they gain indestructible for cheap anyways. (if you got the mana of course). 2wb - This honestly feels more like a Silver bordered card than a black one and thus makes it hard for me to judge. It works great with a shapeshifter on the field. I quite like that you went full shenanigans with the challenge. Daij_Djan - This really feels made for commander, where you have a God as a commander. And you of course have to run some miracles and other Gods (or… shapeshifter gods?) to make it worth it to put this in. It’s probably very niche in its utility, but those that have the deck, would welcome this card with open arms. Those are the judgement, now for the big judgement:

Just a question before I start my brain - what constitutes a hidden zone? Is you library a hidden zone? What about your opponent's hand? I'm sorry if those sound like newbie questions, but Magic is so complex I get confused sometimes.

collex Yup, the library and hand are hidden zones, even if the cards in them happen to be revealed. The rest of the zones are public zones.

There may be a better place for this, but here is a chart that shows the properties of each zone, including if they're public/hidden, shared/separate, and whether or not they're ordered. Fun fact: Although the graveyard is supposed to be ordered, they don't enforce the rule unless you're playing a format that includes cards from Stronghold or earlier Edit: Also, as it relates to last week's CotW challenge, is face down exile a "hidden zone," or is it just a subzone of exile with special rules?

Jartis: Exile is a public zone. If a card is face down in exile then you just don't know what it is. Much like when a permanent on the battlefield is face down (only that the latter has some extra rules attached to it).

Honestly, I just couldn't find any template which is able to both depict his full art and a colored frame, but well. If that is seen as negative, so be it, but at least I got that challenge (yup, he is blue/red as normal...) He is Lord of streets, crossroads, doors, the path of life, success and failure, encounters and decisions, coincidences, accidents and the obscure fate. He is the middle-man between humans and all-mighty Otodumare. And also, he is a trickster. So seemingly everything^^

{gluestick248} Interesting idea. Reminds me very much of Summoner's Egg. The egg had one benefit of being an artifact, though, so it could even easier be sacrificed. The biggest issue with your card, however, are the costs when it leaves the battlefield. This is going to lead to massive feel-bads because you exile your best creature card only to get your Conductor killed without you being able to pay the mana. You could, of course, wait until you have the necessary mana to cast it and pay the trigger cost to immediately sacrifice the Conductor but at that point it's probably easier to just hard cast the creature card you wanted to cheat into play. I like that it's a „leaves the battlefield“ trigger rather than a „dies“ trigger, though.
{gateways7} Nice card. The wendigo is a cool creature from american mythology and you captured its essence nicely. I assume that it was intended by you to design the card in a way that makes it impossible for the controller to ever draw creature cards again. It's a lot like Countryside Crusher. A high risk, high reward play.
{viriss} Cool flavor implementation! You think about the Jackalope by searching your library and are allowed to summon them by the mere thought. A 1/3 with first strike looks a bit weird, though, but it's probably fine. Could even be a common, I dare to say.
{Jartis} I know about the Mothman myth – well, at least I've watched that Richard Gere movie – and liked that the monster is actually trying to help and warn people. Your card does the same with its forecast ability but the etb trigger feels a bit off to me. The thing about the Mothman is that he never really appears to save anyone but only warns them berforehand. However, it's definitely an interesting design with some unconnected parts.
{melono} An interesting effect, for sure, and saying that a wall evokes American flavor is funny enough for me. What the card does seems a bit niche, though. What are you supposed to do with this thing? It can't really block with its 2 toughness and the effect only works against very specific decks (assumed it even works with the rules, of course). And even if you are lucky to play against a flicker deck or an Eldrazi processor deck, they can pay to make your wall useless, which is nice and funny flavor but hurts its playability. Please tell me if I'm missing something but I don't really see a use of this card outside of the sideboard against very niche decks.
{Boogymanjunior} I don't mind the card frame but I'm wondering why it's so important to you that this guy's legs are visible. Anyway, the card is pretty cool! Swapping control – basically – of spells seems interesting enough and the fact that your spell (if activated) will never be worth less mana will make it worthwhile most of the times. The scry is also a clever addition to make the ability trigger often. It's a bit unfair, though, that you are allowed to give your opponent any land you reveal, which they aren't even allowed to play then. This could lead to some pretty oppressive game play which ruins the fun eventually.

I assume it's because so you can choose new creatures with other creature types as targets for the aura but let's be serious: If you run this card, then you run it in a dedicated tribal deck with only one important creature type anyway. Auras are notoriously easy to get rid of and so you are taking the risk of spending three mana in the hope that you get to have a one mana discount next turn, assumed that you have a creature with the right creature type out to cast this aura on. And yes, aura swap allows for some nifty moves with Eldrazi Conscription and the likes but I don't really see the point of the mechanic to appear on this card.

You know what, that's fair, yeah. I think I just wanted to do something that had aura swap but didn't go back and see if it was actually helpful here. Here's my next entry. I struggled for a bit with the flavor, but I think I've made it work well. It was important to me as a Commander player that I find a way to pump out token versions of a real card that wouldn't break a game wide open if you made more copies of that card than can actually fit in a deck.

{ viriss } viriss A nice card, trading speed for a strong, specific card advantage. The obvious Guardian aside, the mana fix effect is probably not used very often considering there are not many all-colored cards out there, and if you play many of them, you probably already have all the mana fix you need by turn 4 or 5 when you could activate the Temple's ability, but nevertheless it's an interesting mana ability. The Guardian seems a little bit bland for what it seems to emanating, but okay. More important is my irritation as to why you gave him these characteristics: besides maybe very rare instances (nothing comes to my mind), isn't this just like him costing (sorry if I forgot something obvious)? Also, if I did not overlook something on Google, a (Guardian of a) Rainbow Temple doesn't have ties to Asia. You could have just changed the dragon to a western version and it would convey the same feeling. But maybe I am too harsh here, idk^^ { FLAREdirector }FLAREdirector A cool looking card, bringing a palette of strike power- creatures, an appropiate body (although first strike for himself instead of vigilance would have fit more I'd say) and an effect that's synergistic and powerful, but accordingly hard to get. At first, giving the token a name seemed like a forced fit for the name-referencing slot, but then I realized it is the equivalent for creature types on tokens, and now I like it all the more. The only other thing would be that this card doesn't have anything black: spirit, samurai, vigilance, spirit token production, anthem effect, all white. { Flo00 } Flo00 In vacuum, they are a really nice fitting pair, although both on themself are pretty underwhelming. But when considering that they should function as commanders, they fall flat I'm afraid. Together, they should carry an equipment deck, but there are so many better alternatives for that than Maka, and bringing the probably least equipment friendly color black into the equation doesn't seem fantastic. But I like the ability mix and how deathtouch and first strike also match extraordinarily for a magical scythe. { Jartis } Jartis Hee hee, that's an unexpected deep cut, and with a very cute picture to boot. It is pretty narrow, especially when considering that it's parent is not really powerful and played (and I would have to see more of those cards to see something going on there), but the flavour is really smooth and sweet. Wish it would have flying or has the potential to gain flying. { gateways7 } gateways7 A really nice card! Although God's Willing is not exactly a staple, the Mandate is already backed up by a general, strong effect, and with that card advantage and pretty certain potential for more +1/+1 counters comes along. The more I think about this mix, the more I'd say that it may be a little bit too powerful. The only other small sting would be that God's Willing is a surprise card, and tutoring it negates that aspect. But the flavour came from above: many think they are chosen to rise to power gaining prosperity, but the real deal is the person who can claim the god-willed Mandate in the end. Nevertheless, just as these rulers can be eclipsed, the creature with three +1/+1 counters can be by other creatures with more steady boons. High-grade. { Daij_Djan} Daij_Djan Very interesting! The general flavour is finely straight-forward. At first I had problems with it because Yin and Yang is not about evil and good which the cards strongly imply, and also because Yin and Yang is about a dynamic balance while your cards always benefit the same (you). But then I looked at it more through the eyes of Magic and how concepts could be practically used when real magic is in play and saw this Yin and Yang as a perverted form of someone who is just interpreting a balance to give them unbalanced benefits. The meld trigger is a little bit off I'd say because this will happen only when you play a specific, flashy game which doesn't quite match with the general flavour.[/spoiler] { ameisenmeister } ameisenmeister Again, a well-though-out design, combing cool flavour with both pesky power early on and strong power later. The only complaint I'd say is that the asian flavour slot seems a bit forced considering I could just change his ethnicity (and „senpai“ to „teacher“) and this Nullmage Acolyte would be the same Nullmage Acolyte. Idk, I just feel like Asian flavour should include more than just an unspecific asian dude^^ [/spoiler=And the winner is...] gateways7 ! It was yet again a really tough battle, but the flavour was one of the most coherent and strong with only small flaws at all, and I like that even without combined with a now more interesting common, it brings a strong advantage to the table.[/spoiler]
