Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our five-hundred and thirteenth challenge! The winner of the "I could make better use of that." poll was melono with...And the challenge issued by our winner was... Create a card that draws inspiration from a (physical) card or boardgame. Note: Since this challenge has some overlap with CotW 496, please don't reuse any entries from that contest. ~Daij_Djan To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

Flush Five Sorcery You may cast ~ without paying its mana cost if you control exactly five nonland permanents with the same name. Choose a nonland permanent you control. Draw cards equal to the number of nonland permanents you control that share a name with the chosen permanent.

Okay, I think I can get the intent across, but I'm open to suggestions on wording, because this seems like a mess for what should be a very doable effect inspired by Cards Against Humanity.

Based on my first Frosthaven character (the Necromancer class). Ominus the Necromancer Legendary Creature - Aesther Warlock Called from Beyond -- , , Pay 2 life: Create a 2/2 black Skeleton creature token with wither named Shambling Skeleton. Exploding Corpse -- , : Target Shambling Skeleton you control deals 5 damage to target creature or planeswalker an opponent controls, then sacrifice it. Until your next turn, when you next cast an instant or sorcery spell, it gains wither. 4/4 Notes: The ability names are taken from the card names that do similar things as what's here. I'm representing the element of file getting turned on (which boosts the first spell that can use it until the next turn) through the next spell getting wither. Like in Frosthaven, the damage stays, represented by wither.

For more context, this is based on the role-playing card game "Les Loups-Garoux de Thiercelieux" which is inspired by the "Werewolf"/"Mafia" board game. It's insanely popular in french-speaking countries, and most of french children used to play this. The game's setting takes place in an Innistradi-lookalike village, overrun by werewolves, and each turn is separated into day-night cycles, hence the idea for a set using Daybound-Nightbound mechanics

viriss : Who says it isn't a board game? So, again, this thing with my laptop's fan has been ongoing. The replacement fan melted down, so my repair guy had to get a new one. I just got the laptop back today. He installed the new new fan (and my laptop no longer gives me the error message before startup about the fan not working, so that's an improvement already), and fixed up my right hinge, all for free, as I'dd already paid for the first installation. So, fingers crossed, nothing else will happen for a good, long while. As for the entry, all that's coming to mind is if i can design something based on Fireball Island. And, before you ask, yes, I do in fact still have a copy from its original print run of '86. I'm old. Welp, here it is, using the original art for the actual, in-game card, even: Fake Jewel! Instant Split second (As long as this spell is on the stack, players can’t cast spells or activate abilities that aren’t mana abilities.)Until end of turn, whenever an opponent would gain control of a spell, permanent, or player they don’t control this turn, that player creates a Treasure token that’s tapped and exerted instead. As a bonus, at least in terms of legality of this card (and I don't just mean in-game legality, either), but not in terms of a free and just society that has no fear of monopolistic control over all of its intellectual property, daddy hasbro owns the Milton Bradley Company, which means they also own the rights to all the game's assets.

Hi everyone, just a quick note: I didn't finish last week's poll on Monday since it was already quite late (and due to the content of that specific contest, the poll obviously also takes a minute longer ), but then got completely struck down with the flue or something similar over night. I'm finally better, but considering it's already Friday, this challenge will go one additional week and the poll will go live with one week delay after the weekend. Sorry for the delay
On a more positive note, we're finally done with all renovations since last week, so everything else will get back on track starting next week as well

Shadowverse Evolve is a thing nowadays, and it is the physical card version of another game I play, the original Shadowverse (on dying breath, unfortunately). I decided to make a fan-favorite card from the original game in its version in the physical game in which it also became a staple, Bellringer Angel. Unfortunately I couldn't use evolve, the name of the biggest distinguishing feature of shadowverse from other games, since MTG already has an evolve mechanic.

Based on the game of the same name, in which you win by having seven unicorns in your stable in front of you.

Hope I'm not too late! This was one of my fave Pokemon cards to stare at when I was younger, and I thought it'd be fun to try and put it in a different card game.
