Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our five-hundred and fifth challenge! The winner of the "Whelp that's interesting" poll was The Harlequin with...And the challenge issued by our winner was... Choose one:- Design a way of tax-ing.
- Design a „floodgate“ aka a card that limits a certain action.
To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

Bureaucrat Class Enchantment - Class (Gain the next level as a sorcery to add its ability.)Spells your opponents cast cost an additional to cast for each card they've already played this turn. -------- : L2 Lands your opponents control have "When this enters, pay an additional or sacrifice it." -------- : L3 Whenever an opponent pays an additional cost, you gain 1 life for each mana they paid. Note: The first ability counts lands for cards played.

What Sheoldred, the Apocalypse should've been: Vorinclex, Apex Legendary Creature--Phyrexian Praetor Vigilance, trample, haste, ward—Each player draws two cards. If a player would draw a card except the first one they draw in each of their draw steps, you create a 2/2 green Phyrexian Beast creature token with “When this permanent leaves the battlefield, create a 3/3 green Phyrexian Beast creature token” instead. 4/5

I hope most of you guys will get the reference. I'll do a render later on dw I assume it should be a JoJo reference — I can only assume cause I haven’t watched it. And tbf — what isn’t a JoJo reference nowadays ;-)

I go with a very controversial interpretation. Ability 2 can be considered a "flood gate" because it basically forces one into doing something that one may not be willing to do otherwise, therefore limiting decision making. Ability 3 "taxes" you for not making use of everything at your disposal.

MaRo's already admitted that Smothering Tithe was a mistake, why you gotta compound mistake onto mistake? Besides, card draw taxing should be . 's the color that says "You have everything you need already within you", and is an enemy of , which is the one color that draws the most cards.

@ sdfkjgh: Except green is, especially in Commander, easily second in card draw right after blue In my opinion the big issue with Smothering Tithe is that it punishes "normal" card draws, and not just extra ones - which is why I restricted my card as such. Also since my design requires two pieces to do something and only taxes by , it's much more turned down as well. Basically, I consider my card a "fixed" Tithe.

Planeswalker hate, Battle support, and screw whatever other types are going to get invented. A large part of me wants this to smash everything: non-creature artifacts, lands. the damage won't mean anything unless it gets animated that turn.

Ability 3 "taxes" you for not making use of everything at your disposal. Interesting that it functions very well as an anti-pillow fort (enchantments) and an anti-superfriends (planeswalkers) card, since those (generally) can't tap on their own.

I don't know if the rules allow for that, but it would be an extra middle finger to, for example, Nissa, Who Shakes the World, amongst other Nissas

To Chandra, it's Nissa, Who Shakes Dat Ass.

Appeal to Tragedy Enchantment Creatures can't attack if their controller has cast a spell this turn. Players can't cast a spell this turn if a creature they controlled has attacked this turn. "I did worse things than you could ever imagine, and when I close my eyes... I hear more screams than anyone could ever be able to count!" - The Twelfth Doctor
