Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our four-hundred and ninety-third challenge! The winner of the "Holiday Spirit" poll was The Harlequin with...And the challenge issued by our winner was... CotW 386 called for a new mechanic – Where I came up with this little life point related mechanic simply named "Existence" (render with updated wording). How about we see what everyone can make out of it.Note: As this is 2023's final CotW challenge, following our usual procedures, this challenge will run for an additional week. ~Daij_Djan To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

Some concerns were offered to me in regards of "dying/dies" already being an established mechanic inside of the mtg universe. So to avoid confusion if anyone wants to use that mechanic in conjunction to the one I made a renaming is at order. Now they are renamed from "are Living/Dying" to "in Heaven/Hell" In that regards I am asking Daij_Djan to adjust the image in the main post with that one to not cause any further confusion.
And I am apologizing to all the users that now have to reword their renders because of me overlooking that.

Darksteel Emperion Artifact Creature--Golem Indestructible As long as all players’ life totals aren’t equal, the life total of each player in Limbo can’t change. ---------------------------------------------------- There’s safety in the middle of the pack.8/8

Planar Anchor Artifact When Planar Anchor enters the battlefield, choose heaven or hell. No matter your life total, you have the chosen designation. At the beginning of your upkeep, you loose 2 life. Some tried to tether their soul's trajectory, but at a grave cost for their mortal body.

Sure, cards caring about this gamestate can be done in all colors, but it's easier in colors that can manipule it. Simple combat damage aside, that's white, black and to a lesser degree green with lifegain - while on the other end black, red and again to a lesser degree green with damage/lifeloss..

My thought on it is that it was a combination of two things: - The flavor (both as living/dying and Heaven/Hell) is very naturally oriented towards W and B to begin with due to them being most likely to play with associated flavor and creatures types (Angel/Demon being the easiest example). - W and B are the most likely colors to heavily play with life totals and feature iconic cards like Death's Shadow and Speaker of the Heavens that explicitly check it.

For those not familiar with D&D, Asmodeus is the Lord of the Nine Hells and has in his possession an artifact called the Ruby Rod. One of its abilities is "Reverie of Nessus." It lasts three rounds. For the duration of the ability, Asmodeus is impervious to all damage and spells. During the first round, all harmful spells are removed. During the second round, Asmodeus regenerates all lost limbs, his hit points reset to maximum, and all conditions such as diseases and poisons are removed. On the third round, he regains use of all expended resources, such as X/day abilities.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the "protection from everything" ability only be active for as long as the Saga is on chapter I? I'm fairly certain it would need to be present in each chapter to be active for the entire time the Saga is on the battlefield.

Something like "You gain protection from everything until ~ leaves the battlefield." Like here.
