Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our four-hundred and eighty-ninth challenge! The winner of the "When in doubt, design a common" poll was Daij_Djan with...And the challenge issued by our winner was... Design a card based on a gameshow! Whether the show aired up on TV and/or a streaming service doesn't matter. Feel free to include a description / link / whatever for the show you're choosing. To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

Big Balls | Artifact — Contraption | Whenever you crank Big Balls, target player chooses a creature they control and rolls a six-sided die. If the result is 6, the chosen creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn. Otherwise, it gets -3/-3 until end of turn. |
|
The gameshow in question is Wipeout. Man, I loved watching that show as a kid. Basically, the target player sends one of their creatures across the Big Balls, and it has a 1 in 6 chance of succeeding. If it doesn't succeed, it falls. I was originally going to make this an Attraction, but I couldn't find a template for those, so Contraption it is.

Literally every entry for this one made me smile so far
Fun fact: Wording is taken from The Toymaker's Trap - which means this card would in fact be Vintage legal.

Had some difficulty how to mechanically apply "closest without going over." Originally had a d6 roll, but the card itself has a price through its own mana value, so I incorporated that.

The only things I can think of don't really translate well. 1) At the RTR prerelease, I chose Rakdos, because I wanted to open Rakdos, Lord of Riots. I even came up with The Official Rakdos Joke™ ©®: "What are the last words you'll ever say?" Then, whatever their answer, you stab them in the jugular! I got some pretty great answers, like "Hopefully not these!"; and one other which I unfortunately can no longer remember. Anyway, my pool was terrible, and I had to go Selesnya. What made that really suck was that all the legitimate Selesnya players got Grove of the Guardian as a prerelease promo, which is pretty much unbeatable in Limited. I went with Rakdos, so guess what I didn't get? I did slightly better than usual, but still pretty terribly, but I can take small, bitter sour grapesconsolation in the fact that I did better than the other two Rakdos players that tournament, leading me to quip "The best Rakdos deck was a shitty Selesnya deck." So yeah, kinda hard to translate The Official Rakdos Joke™ ©® into a Magic card, Acorn or otherwise. 2) My favorite game show is Dotch, and how the hell do you translate that kind of insane, democratic sadism to Magic?!
