Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our four-hundred and sixty-eighth challenge! The winner of the "Proud to share" poll was bucketman with...And the challenge issued by our winner was... Design a spell with an additional cost. To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

Ironically I had no idea what to do originally, since the challenge is rather broad - but then all places felt in place at once
As the saying goes, "every mechanic is basically kicker" - so I decided to do a unique Kicker card:

Reality Breakdown Sorcery As an additional cost to cast this spell, discard your hand. For each card discarded — • If the card was white, you gain life equal to its mana value. • If the card was blue, draw a number of cards equal to its mana value. • If the card was black, target player mills a number of cards equal to its mana value. • If the card was red, Reality Breakdown deals X damage to any target, where X is its mana value. • If the card was green, create a number of 1/1 green Squirrel creature tokens equal to its mana value. • If the card was colorless, add X mana of any one color, where X is its mana value. Not quite sure if this is balanced, but oh well.

Not quite sure if this is balanced, but oh well. I love the "DO ALL THE THINGS!" cards. Let's get as esoteric as possible with the additional costs: Warrior's Rush Tribal Sorcery--Warrior Berserker As an additional cost to cast this spell, skip your next three main phases. Cast this spell only during your precombat main phase. Until end of turn, target creature you control loses all abilities and gains shroud and “When this creature deals combat damage to a player or planeswalker, you take an extra turn after this one.”

Bloodspoiler's Edict Instant As an additional cost to cast ~, pay X life. Put target creature spell with power X or less into its owner's graveyard. Note: It's basically a counter that gets around uncounterables. Also, render coming soonish.

Bloodspoiler's Edict " style="max-width:100%;"] " style="max-width:100%;"] Instant As an additional cost to cast ~, pay X life. Put target creature spell with power X or less into its owner's graveyard. Note: It's basically a counter that gets around uncounterables. Also, render coming soonish.Wouldn't the wording be something like "As an additional cost to cast ~, pay any amount of life. Put target creature with power x or less into its owner's graveyard, where X is the amount of life paid to cast this spell" ?

It can work that way too, but lately they have been using the templating I used here too (see Nahiri's Sacrifice and Nahiri's Wrath for examples of it from WotC). The way X works here is that you declare what number it is when you cast the spell and all instances of it get set to it in the spell's text as it goes on the stack (see 107.3a). Edit: Oh, also, note that my card doesn't work on creatures already on the battlefield... only on creature spells on the stack.

Also about the creature thing to be clear that wasn't a suggestion to change it, I just missed the word spell when I was copying the rest of the text haha...
