Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our four-hundred and fifty-first challenge! The winner of the "Something Old, Something New" poll was spazlaz with...And the challenge issued by our winner was... Design an equipment that doesn't increase a creature's power, toughness, or grant it any keyword abilities. To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

spazlaz : Now, when you say "doesn't increase", would you allow a decreasing of stats, or are you using absolute value for your restriction? Also, would you consider clone effects to be granting it keywords?

| Mercyplume A generic and two red
Tribal Artifact — Pheonix Equipment
Whenever equipped creature dies, sacrifice Mercyplume. When you do, return that creature to your hand. If that creature was a Pheonix, return it to the battlefield instead.
Equip for A generic.

Is this the Phoenix Down I keep hearing about? In any case, I wouldn't wanna sleep on a pillow stuffed with it, as it'd prolly just burn that case to cinders! #ShitpostingOnTheSevens

Don't have a lot of time to design this week, but I have an older one that I used for another (non weekly) challenge sometime last year that fits here well. Hope it's OK to re-use.

Plagiarist's Pen Artifact - Equipment Whenever an opponent puts one or more counters on a creature they control, they put the same number and kind of counters on equipped creature. Equip “I know a good idea when I see one.”

Unstable Concoction Artifact - EquipmentWhen Unstable Concoction enters the battlefield, attach it to target creature. The the beginning of its controller’s upkeep, they roll a d6. 2-6|Equipped creatures controller attaches Unstable Concoction to target creature. 1| Unstable Concoction deals 5 damage to equipped creature, and 5 damage to its controller. Sacrifice Unstable Concoction.
Simple idea. Hot potato. Just the kind of chaos cards that can be fun in commander Also, gotta say. There are some awesome ideas being put out here! You guys are so creative!

Void Blade Artifact - Equipment Whenever equipped creature deals combat damage to a player, exile target creature that player controls until the first creature leaves the battlefield. Equip I wanted to make it clear that it tracks the creature that dealt damage and not the blade itself. So even if you unattach or remove the blade, the creature stays exiled.

sdfkjgh you know that WotC beat you to that design by just a few days, right? (Or probably at least half a year if you count the time before this was released to the public.) swarmguildmage Just spitting out plant tokens for is pretty busted. Maybe you should restrict to once per turn or have the creature tap?

Probably it works. It is an One with the Stars equipment. The word "equip" means that an equipment is attached to a creature. The word "enchant" means that an aura is attached to an object. So, it enchants the creature as soon as it equips the creature. An aura which enchants nothing is put into the graveyard but an equipment which equips nothing stays in the battlefield. At the time it loses enchanted permanent, it is an equipment so it remains in play. It needs to lose equipment subtype before state-based action will be resolved because an equipment which is attached to an illegal permanent is detached in it and equipment's legal one is only a creature. The normal equip ability doesn't work well for it because an non-equipment permanent can't equip something even if the equip ability is activated. mtg.fandom.com/wiki/Equipmentmtg.fandom.com/wiki/Equipmtg.fandom.com/wiki/Aura

I had a different design in mind first, but the formatting wasn't really working out. Came up with this instead having recently watched the Sandman adaptation from Netflix.
