Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our four-hundred and forty-sixth challenge! The winner of the "As they say..." poll was Daij_Djan with... And the challenge issued by our winner was... First a small reminder: Following our normal schedule this challenge will run for two weeks.I really liked challenge #444 since it offered a small glimpse into our community being spread all around the world – so after some pondering I decided to push a bit further in that regard. Since this challenge will last till 2023 anyway, design a card based around some sort of tradition / activity / similar from your country or maybe just you personally concerning New Year's Eve or Day. (Likewise if you live in a country where the new year starts on a different date, feel free to adapt accordingly ) If you want to add some explanation, feel free to do so – I'll gladly include it in the final poll. Have fun, everyone! To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

How do I design a card that conveys that I ignore all the festivities and treat it like any other day? I feel a 2/3 vanilla minotaur for 1RR with seven lines flavor text is just the card for it.

Based on the ubiquitous custom of the "New Year's resolution." The idea is putting in effort (paying ) to avoid bad habits that essentially harm you (paying life).

The formatting is probably a bit sketchy, but I think it gets the intention of the effect across.

In ancient mtg, a turn was regarded as a year. Some cards like Winter Orb, Early Harvest and Rowen retain traces of that days. Soba is easy to cook so many of us follow the custom to end their turn with soba.

See You Next Year Sorcery Choose one: * Exile target creature, then return it to the battlefield under its owner’s control. * Exile target creature and put two time counters on it. If it doesn’t have suspend, it gains suspend.

The Queen’s New Years Speech Sorcery Up to one target instant and sorcery in your graveyard gains flashback until end of turn. The flashback cost is equal to the spell’s mana value. Up to one legendary creature, and one non-legendary creature in your graveyard gains evoke and “This creature can be cast from the graveyard using evoke abilities.” until end of turn. The evoke cost is equal to the creatures’ mana value minus .
I've been thinking hard to find something for this challenge, that I would be happy with. My friends and I don't really have any special new years traditions, so I've been racking my brain to come up with something more genreal for Denmark. This is what I came up with, that felt original enough that I would allow myself to post it. I tried to see if I could get "Gud bevare Danmark", that she always ends her speech with, into the flavour text, but sadly it ended up being too wordy for any flavour text.
