Welcome to the Card of the Week Contest! To participate in this Contest you'll have to design a card along the contest guidelines and throw it into the arena with other competitors' entries! At the end of each week, a winner will be determined by forum poll. The winner's card will be rendered and featured on the Welcome page, and the winner decides the challenge for the next week's Contest! Here we go, competitors: our four-hundred and third challenge! The winner of the "Make it Count!" poll was myself with...And the challenge issued by our winner was... Desing a card featuring a term which bundles together a group of card / creature / whatever types, status, conditions or whatever you can think of. Think about historic, party or the upcoming modified creatures. You may use any existing terms as well as come up with a new one. To increase your chances of winning and to also make creating the poll easier on whomever is doing so, please try to use a render. Additionally, please try to keep your entry edits all in one post - if you need to change it you can put your old entry in a spoiler marked "Old entry" and leave the newest rendition to be seen. Just use the edit button in the top/right of your original post. And now, time to begin the challenge! Best of luck, competitors!

Always bugged me that there's so many different creature types for sea creatures.

{Card History}Original: Was 2WW, gave +0/+1 instead of ward [1], and defined evasive as "A creature is evasive if no creature its controller's opponents control can block it." This was convoluted and made it so that creatures could become and cease to be evasive numerous times. No bueno. Original Examples: - If a creature has menace and all of its controller's opponents have a single creature, it is considered evasive. - Creatures with flying, horsemanship, shadow, etc are evasive if an opponent doesn't have creatures they can block these with. {How I named my card made me think of this}Angelic Spirit Guide [1][W][W] Creature - Angel Spirit Flying Exile Angelic Spirit Guide from your hand: Add [W]. 2/2 The Harlequin , I think the prompt wasn't to use "modified" but to come up with a new keyword that groups some number of types of things like modified or historic do.

Ya also may use any existing termes -- This statment is DaijDjan-aprooved ;-) It's not always needed to redesign the wheel. May be kinda boring, but i'm a boring, plane person -- so that's that ;-) EDIT: but apperently i have to do so cause my wording was kinda crapp ;-) Otherwise, I always try to tell stories with my entries -- And it is easier to put that "bonus" content into ya card if ya don't need to explain a whole new ruleset on top of that ;-)

pacifistwestwoman : The proper plural of Octopus is Octopodes, as Octopus is Greek, not Latin. You also forgot Jellyfish, Shark, and prolly a few more besides.
The Harlequin : You forgot an s at the end of permanent.
Way of the Fighter Tribal Enchantment--Soldier Fighter spells you cast cost less to cast. (Armies, Barbarians, Berserkers, Knights, Rebels, Samurai, Soldiers, and Warriors are fighters.) Fighter creatures you control get +1/+1. : Target fighter creature you control fights another target creature or planeswalker. (Planeswalkers fight using their current loyalty.)

I actually had a batch already thought up!
Krig Ur, Lady-at-Arms Legendary Planeswalker - Krig Whenever a militant permanet enters the battlefield under your control, put a loyalty counter on ~. (Equipment, Soldiers, and Warriors are militant.): ~ deals 1 damage to any target. You gain 1 life. : Search your library for an Equipment card with mana value X, put it onto the battlefield, then shuffle. : ~ becomes a legendary creature with base power and toughness 5/5, indestructible, and first strike. Attach any number of target Equipment to her. (She's no longer a planeswalker.){Old} Legendary Planeswalker - Krig Whenever a militant permanet enters the battlefield under your control, put a loyalty counter on ~. Screw it, old-school ping everyone at once entry because I have questions. pacifistwestwoman : Sea creatures seems sensible until you hit the sheer number of aquatic creature types we've seen. Listing all of them on every single card is going to be a nightmare. I've tried. I do have a suggestion though: Do a creature card, and have a line at the top clarifying "This is a sea creature." So if you had, like, Creature - Fish, you could have (Fish are sea creatures.) as the first line of text, similar to how the reminder text on Legendary Sorceries and the like works. So long as that's consistent across the set, and so long as you have an example of every sea creature across the set, I'd say that'd be acceptable for rules clarity purposes. Remember, reminder text isn't rules text, you can afford to be a bit flexible with it. The Harlequin : That's "exile target nonland permanent" for two mana. Uuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhh. I would... not. vizionarius: So ignoring the question of whether or not "evasive" works within the rules (I don't think it does, at least not in ways that are intuitive or coherent), the big question I have is "why am I concerned about the toughness of creatures that can't be blocked?" And yes, vigilance, but if you have three flying creatures ready to block, your opponent can drop their toughness by playing a single creature of their own. Especially if they've already taken damage, that's going to be a real feels-bad. Having toughness fluctuate based on game state is generally something I personally try to avoid if possible, especially if it's a game state an opponent can easily affect, like "having a creature".

spazlaz: "This card is useless 99% of the time" does not justify "destroy four target creatures" for 1R my guy.

Ughh... all great points lol. Fixed to hopefully make it less of an incoherent mess (wasn't super happy with it myself). Great point on avoiding toughness based on easy-to-change board states. I'll be keeping that in mind going forward.

Here's a thing: counters have no controllers. (Forced modification/compleation?) Also Mirrans lost, as a matter of fact. (Where the concept of equipments began)

Debating between take/make/do for the first part of the trigger. Thanks vizionarius for the replacement effect clarification and wording suggestion! I did a small amount of digging in the Comp. Rules and found that rule 704.3 (which is about state-based actions--close enough) uses "perform" as the relevant verb. Still considering whether or not to add manifesting, and casting a face down creature to list of ephemeral actions.

Nessythian Mongrel Creature - Dog As long as you've industrialized this turn, Nessythian Mongrel has haste and vigilance. (You industrialize whenever you create one or more tokens or put one or more counters on permanents you control.)"You thought the purebreeds were wildly diverse? Just wait 'til you see the strays." --Rodina, domestication expert2/2 Yeah, have the mechanic I'm working on in my first set. Originally by Queen Emily of the MSE Discord server.

Basic first draft for now, render to be added later [NAME] the Intangible Legendary Creature--Spirit Wizard The first time you take an ephemeral action on each of your turns, put your choice of a +1/+1, first strike, flying, or vigilance counter on ~. (Creating one or more tokens, and copying a spell or ability are ephemeral actions.) 3/3 Debating between take/make/do for the first part of the trigger. Also considering adding manifesting, and casting a face down creature to list of ephemeral actions. Using the phrasing "The first time..." is actually a type of replacement effect, meaning that in your case, the +1/+1 counter will be a part of the ephemeral action. Usually, these types of effects use the "whenever" terminology so they can be individually responded to. exampleAlso, I couldn't find an existing oracle text for a term that groups together multiple action types other than this one card, which is an old silver border one. However, there, it uses the term "perform" for actions. So you can do something like: "Whenever you perform an ephemeral action for the first time each turn, ..."

Why does her last ability include Auras when the rest of her card and the new batch you're introducing explicitly doesn't? Also you may want to Target that ability. The last ability was based off a previous version of her that wasn't as heavy in the Equipment theme, but you're right, it shouldn't be there. I could argue that it gives her more voltron flexibility, but that's not worth muddying the message. Also, I'll change it to target, but is there any reason that the ability should target as opposed to not?

The thing I think you missed about those three is they're all "Auras and Equipment you control" while Armory Automaton and the original design of Krig could grab any Equipment. You don't have to target for your own stuff, but you probably should if you can grab opponents's. So to clarify for Vunik , if you're just moving your own Equipment you don't need to target, but if you want her to steal opponent's swords (which I'm not opposed to, it's very funny) you'll want to target.

Put a pun on a card inspired by Bludgeon Brawl: Fusion Engine Artifact Modified creatures you control are Equipment artifacts in addition to their other types and have reconfigure and “Equipped creatue gets +X/+Y,” where X and Y are this creature’s base power and toughness. {not my entry}Path of Convergence Land : Add . , Tap an untapped modified creature you control: Add for each creature in your party. Use this mana only to cast historic spells or activate abilities of historic cards.

A lot of corner "removal" cases not covered here but I figured a cleaner batch was better than an exhaustive one.
