twintania - I guess the idea is that Nero locked listeners in the theater to force them to listen to his songs? Admittedly would've liked that to restrict Commanders to though I imagine a lot of people would be quite angry if it did, lol. At first I wasn't sure about the sacrifice part but I think it was a neat way to essentially put a very weak effect on a land without making it last the entire turn. I would like to see more powerful lands like Karakas get similar weakened counterparts, this is a very interesting concept. Not 100% sure if it should be White forcing cards to go into the graveyard given how it's a grave hate color and a color that loves exile, but White is enough of a control color that I think I can sort of see it. Ya, it is after the story and in this case I'm supposing Nero as the commander. That was totally top-down design and not seriously considered about the color wheel, though only one precedent is there. The ability can make Unsummon into Terminate and allow Unearth to repeat endlessly. So it is dangerous to give a land if it was contineous for it costs 0 and recently it is hard to deal with land. In rational thought, "2W: If target creature moves into a realm other than graveyard this turn, ~ " or so would balance it but I wanted to emphasize "none shall escape".

I'll pronounce Bouncearama as the winner. A nice use of adventure. I'll judge fully another time.

Thanks for the win. Looking forward to the full judging. Your next challenge is to make a land with the aura subtype. (Bonus points if it is a curse.)

(Bonus points if it is a curse.) oof, that's gonna be a tough one! lol... time to brainstorm on how this could work.oops, mistake made with Curse type... it's supposed to enchant players. updated card. {Old design, renamed and Curse removed} Ruling: - This falls off the enchanted land once it's no longer an Aura, at which point it becomes a land that you can tap as normal. - Playing this counts as your land-drop for the turn. - Control of this doesn't change; the player who played it retains control of it even when it's an Aura, and the ability that makes it not an Aura doesn't have an effect on who controls it. Thanks Flo00 for pointing out my templating over-complication; of course it could just have enchant player!

Dreaming Landscape Enchantment Land - Aura Enchant land (Dreaming Landscape is not a spell. As it enters the battlefield, attach it to a land you control.)Whenever enchanted land becomes tapped for mana, add one mana of a type that land produced.

Why does this not just have enchant player or enchant opponent? According to this, it should do exactly what you want: 303.4f If an Aura is entering the battlefield under a player’s control by any means other than by resolving as an Aura spell, and the effect putting it onto the battlefield doesn’t specify the object or player the Aura will enchant, that player chooses what it will enchant as the Aura enters the battlefield. The player must choose a legal object or player according to the Aura’s enchant ability and any other applicable effects. Actually that is also why you can do things like give Zur shroud and still search Auras on himself.

An aura without enchant. That's quite interesting. I've gone through the rules for Auras to find something that sais that this would instantly go to the graveyard. I found this: I'm not sure but I'd interpert this as you can't put Stifling Rot onto the battlefield. Of course you can allways make up rules tweaks to make your designs work the way you intend...

Tilling SpiritEnchantment Land Creature - Aura Spirit (Tilling Spirit isn’t a spell, and it’s affected by summoning sickness.)~ isn't an Aura as long as it isn't attached to another permanent. You may reveal ~ from your hand and pay . If you do, attach ~ to target creature. : Add Enchanted creature is a 0/1 Spirit enchantment land creature with " : Add ." 0/1 In the fields of war, peace shall be sown.Eat your heart out Boseiju. Much like how Boseiju, Who Endures replaces the destroyed permanent with a land unlike Naturalize, this doesn't render the creature completely useless unlike normal Pacifism variants, similar to Darksteel Mutation. (You can actually recreate the Path to Exile trick of using it on your own creature to ramp.) (Fun fact - Originally I was going to give this Bestow, but Bestow needs you to cast, which isn't possible because this is a land.)

My last card for 2022! I wished I liked this more. The soulbond variant of land/creature has some potential, but the mana-dorks use isn't the best flavor.

The current Picture into Card challenge inspired me to do a card for this, so this will be a two-for-one. Coastal Fortress Land : Add . , : Target creature gets +0/+X until end of turn, where X is its toughness. , : Target creature gets -X/-0 until end of turn, where X is its power.

Just about pushed my luck, didn't I? Short on time but good designs all around so I'll try to judge each card. viriss- Turning the paired creature into a mana dork is an interesting twist and feels comparable to Glimmervoid or Thran Quarry - I'm not sure how excited I am at the thought of every color being able to ramp this way but left as an incomplete cycle favoring fast mana/ramp colors it could be interesting. Would like to see all three Jund ones in a set at minimum. @daij_Djan - Straightforward, takes advantage of new mechanics, a common. Certified Daij classic. twintania - Not sure if this is too strong of a free effect but the fact it forms a janky combo with Force of Savagery is more than enough to make me want to like it. Uncommon is probably a good place to put this because last I checked Pauper tends to use effects like Electrickery a lot and this would make them less relevant, so good call on the rarity. pernicious - Was the lack of defender intentional? Because if it is, it's a budget Death's Shadow and I think that makes it very interesting even if that might not be the intended use for it. I'd actually prefer to see it printed this way, just not certain if that's what you were hoping to achieve. vizionarius - A 'cheaper' Labyrinth of Skophos-esque effect that compensates for lower cost by being more narrow and having more hoops to jump through. I like the reintroduction of Fortification this way and I think this is how WoTC should go about it to mitigate concerns about how uninteractive or hard to remove Fortification based decks might be. Jartis - Seems pushed at first but combat mana has historically been shown to be very restrictive so I think this is fine and pretty much just good. I feel like it would realistically only add RW on the 2nd ability and add C on the first though, just to be 'safe' and not make it too easy to play. Flo00 - I think this is really undercosted when you consider that most of the time it'll be a Maze of Ith that costs to activate - the toughness boosting effective likely isn't as easy to break but I still feel like it's begging to make a mess out of a card like Wandering Fumarole with how cheap it is. I feel like it'd be best to split this into two lands, one for each color, and cost each effect at least 2M (where M is the appropriate color). Winner: vizionarius , with viriss as runner up

Thanks for the win, ZephyrPhantom! Glad the design worked to your liking! I'd be glad to see more of this type of Fortification as well.
Next: Make a legendary land based on an important place in a fictional story. Please provide a link or 1-2 sentence description to explain your post.

Ruins of Anaxi Land Ruins of Anaxi enters the battlefield tapped. When Ruins of Anaxi enters the battlefield, prevent all combat damage that would be dealt until the end of your next turn. : Add . , , Sacrifice Ruins of Anaxi: Put target artifact card from your graveyard on top of your library. This is from Die Insel der Stürme (english: The Island of Storms). Anaxi was once the human capital of the Island. A few hundered years ago its well became pisonous and the city was abandoned. In the story the ruins are surrounded by a thick fog where you lose all orientation. After a battle, half the statue of a godess is unearthed there. Not that I made the fog effect last until the end of your next turn, so its symmetrical (if you play it after combat on your turn).

“The History of every major Galactic Civilization tends to pass through three distinct and recognizable phases, those of Survival, Inquiry and Sophistication, otherwise known as the How, Why, and Where phases. For instance, the first phase is characterized by the question ‘How can we eat?’ the second by the question ‘Why do we eat?’ and the third by the question ‘Where shall we have lunch?” — Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

Since it still seems to be open, here's a simple idea: Moisture Farm Land - Desert : Add . , : Add . "It's only one season more."
Edit - An explanation is part of the challenge. This is Luke Skywalker's desolate home from the original Star Wars. Also I forgot Desert doesn't automatically grant the mana ability.

FeedbackFlo00 : I think you left off legendary, but the card has an interesting ability that seems to fit your description of the place. Seems balanced to me. Sanfonier of the Night : This is the only submission that I'm at least vaguely familiar with. I like the abilities and the flavor of the card. I think it might have done with entering the battlefield tapped, since it does create something right away, but I think of Food as the weakest of the tokens, so it might be fine this way. Good design. moweda : I like this; I image this being in a set where colorless matters, so you need some common access to it. It's easy to imagine a cycle of this. Might have liked it more if it pinged you for the color instead of having to use . Also, it doesn't really feel legendary. emberfire17 : Cycles are welcome! Firstly, I'm a big fan of the "ETB tapped unless " for these. I don't know anything about the game, but how the places look, the colors seem appropriate. However, I think that they are all too powerful. Having the ability to keep creating such strong tokens for just each turn is too strong. Not even lands that become creatures until end of turn are this well costed, and lands that create tokens greater than 0/1 Kobolds all have a much higher cost. Other than the cost balancing that would be required, I think these are a great idea and are well done. I also like that you made sure to include an equal representation of colors in your cycle (2 for each color). WinnerWinner is emberfire17 with lands that feel appropriately legendary and although need balancing, feel like they could be something that WotC would print (might as well do universes beyond with Nintendo... waiting for my Legendary Pikachu any year now /sarcasm).
