Considering this is a quick one, I'll throw in a short judging: { sdfkjgh}Like this cycle's idea – but it does looka little weak compared to these old gems, let alone our new toys.. { viriss} Elf tribal + Druid tribal combined? Great flavor! I think it should enter the battlefield tapped though asthis is definitely a strictly better basic. { sorsal} Nice flavor, but I'm not 100% sure about the wording. Having exiled them from where? Since you're not referring to cards, I think your card currently only cares about exiling directly from the battlefield..? { Flo00}That.. flavor.. text.. Hilarious! Complexity especially with receiving and loosing the land type over and over again might be better fit at rare, though.? { vizionarius} Nice, clean, simple – and on theme. Me like.

The Painted Desert{::isC::}There's no colorless identifier, which is a shame. This is a placeholder for that. Legendary Land - Desert During your upkeep, The Painted Desert becomes two random colors. : Add one mana of any color in The Painted Desert's color identity.

{Judging} { melono :}Nice and clean design that grants a minor boost to its ability for the land having a color. Being legendary, entering tapped, and having an ability that requires sacrifice of it does seem to make it a little underpowered, but I like this design and can easily imagine a cycle of lands for it. { sorsal :}Great flavor, awesome execution. I expect this to be an Alchemy card (a format I'm not generally a fan of), and for that format, it's very well designed. And I like how you are referencing the color indicator and are changing it, and coming up with a colorless indicator. { serraphim :}A nice addition to Urza's lands. I like that it grants a lingering effect based on how it was activated, and can see it as part of a cycle of 3-color lands. Power level feels appropriate (the 2-color hybrid filter lands do tap for colorless on their own, this does not). {Winner}I really liked all the entries, but the winner will be sorsal for a unique way to use the color indicators and for a clean, flavorful design.

Lost Paradise Land : Add . : Add X mana in any combination of colors, where X is the number of permanents attached to Lost Paradise. At first I only wanted it to count auras, but then I thought I could make it a bit broader. Now you can also make use of fortifications. If you animate it somehow, it will also count equipments.

If this works the way I think it does, you can animate auras with this... to have them die in your cleanup sinice they are no longer attached to anything. I think that's quite funny.

You're reading it right. I thought it would be a nice option to be able to sacrifice an enchantment for the benefit of having it be a creature for one turn. I originally had it as any enchantment until i realized that a repeatable spot removal could be too overpowered for the reason you mentioned.

Ambience GroveLand ~ enters the battlefield tapped, unless you control an Aura. : Add or . There could possibly be an entire cycle for these, where certain permanent types are relegated to specific color combos in the set. Which colors would be which permanent I don't know though.

{ Flo00 }Caring about Auras and Fortifications is clever, and giving Fortifications another kit to tool themselves into is choice. { serraphim }Surging out enchantments that've been in play for a couple of turns previous is a great way to surprise rush any unsuspecting player. That said, the fact that a player can hold this in their hand, then drop it to burn mana and zerg rush on the same turn is a little... strong. { Jartis }Aura tribal that will just untap every time: Voltron decks will enjoy this for sure. { vizionarius }Strictly speaking, this is already better than a regular plains, since it is a plains with a sac ability. Slipping an enchantment out of your library isn't too shabby either. { melono }Love the idea to cycle this, since split lands like this would be an easy way to present the design space for color pairs of a block or set. {Winner & Runnerups}Winner is Jartis, with Flo00 and melono as runnerups.

Whoops. Totally forgot to post a challenge. Thanks for the win!
Next challenge: Wizards are careful about printing Legendary Lands, because they don't want them to be dead in-hand. But the NEO Channel lands have proven very popular. So I would like to see you design a Legendary Land that you would want to run multiple copies of.

A shame that running 4 wouldn't let you get to WUBRG, but there's ways around that.

Skrll’lak, the Bloody Hill Legendary Land Bloodthirst 3 (If an opponent was dealt damage this turn, this land enters the battlefield with three +1/+1 counters on it.), Remove a counter from Skrll’lak, the Bloody Hill: Add . Grandeur — Discard a another card named Skrll’lak, the Bloody Hill: Put three +1/+1 counters on Skrll’lak and it becomes a 0/0 red Elemental creature with first strike and haste until end of turn. It’s still a land.

Bit of a quicker judging than my usual, since I was a bit late: 4d20 I really like this. Good amount of power for a mythic land, nice way of circumventing the legendary drawback, very fun. vizionarius I enjoy the concept at first glance, but I'm not sure I'm very often going to want to exile 6/8 cards for 3/4 colored mana, realistically. Flo00 I don't know if I look forward to or dread the deck that runs 4 of these and only mountains, hoping to turn 1 win by going second into an empty board. The Grandeur ability being able to be activated with any other Mountain means this is playable in Commander, as well, which is a bonus in my book. serraphim Pushing the limits of rules text on this one, I think, by virtue of it being in 5 paragraphs. That said, I do like the discover mechanic, I like that you give an option to make it nonlegendary (clever way to approach the challenge!), and I like that you still have access to the exiled card, for a bit more mana. I would probably make this mythic, because it's both complex and I think a lot stronger than it first appears, but it's definitely a great concept. sorsal I didn't even think about DFCs helping to complete the challenge, nice catch! I also like that it transforms, instead of being modal, meaning you have to put in a bit of work for having multiples to matter. Ultimately simple, but effective. marshmellow Interesting approach. I could see a cycle of these (black seems to get all the fun land cycles, doesn't it?). Giving it the Forest subtype meaning it both powers other copies of itself *and* can simply tap for green is some clean design. Sanfonier of the Night First off, I am literally in the middle of building a Gates tribal commander deck right now, so obviously I'd want it in that. Anyways, Gatecycling is great fixing. After getting Baldur's Gate, I wouldn't mind seeing a cycle of colored legendary gates. {Winner} Woof, this one ended up being way tougher to call than I expected. Each design has big pros and cons when it comes to putting one above the others. I think I'm gonna go with serraphim as the winner, with Flo00 and sorsal as runners-up. Very fun designs all around!

Thank you Jartis! It definitely has a lot going on.
For the next challenge: Design a land that is temporary. Whether it's limited use or limited time or something unique, make it disappear. Get creative.
