This should really get judged. I've been waiting too long on this one. First up, Daij_Djan - very clear on the artifact sac into value mechanic. All three cards are very nice, though concerning the first card, it's not great that it inherently, from just itself, creates the incubate token, with a +1/+1 counter, and then adds another type of counter on top of it. Good decision to have both be one counter, so mixing doesn't matter as much, but I can see this card also being used with +1/+1 counter adders, so then it might confuse a little. Still, bangers. Idea - I quite like the first two cards, especially mechanically, and the third card flavorwise (though I find it a bit clunky mechanicwise, having the temporary planes needing crewing). Biggest issue I got: these three don't mix. Mechanically, equipments and vehicles are terrible together, as the equipment is either temporarily on the vehicle, or it's attached to a creature that you might need to crew the vehicle. vizionarius - Very big value generators, the last two. I'm afraid it might be too much even, but there are good limits set in place. Like only the first death, or the elusive damaging a creature (if it isn't blocked, you ain't getting shit). The first is a nice manner of a free treasure, which in this deck would be madness essentially, though in a mill deck it's a different situation. Just generally good cards with interesting plays to make, doing what mainly black loves to do. It was a toss up between Daij_Djan and vizionarius but I gotta be a partial judge and Imma give it to vizionarius for their start to a pauper commander deck.

Thanks for the win!
Next: Design a common creature, a common equipment they might use, and a common instant or sorcery spell they might cast. Make each of these interesting to play in a draft format.

Thunder Whelp Creature - Dragon Flying Enrage — Whenever Thunder Whelp is dealt damage, it deals 2 damage to target creature or planeswalker you don’t control. 3/3 Lightning Breath Sorcery Lightning Breath deals 2 damage to each of any X targets. Dragon Training Toy Artifact - Equipment Whenver equipped creature becomes tapped, Dragon Training Toy deals 1 damage to it. If equipped creature would deal damage, it deals that much damage plus 1 instead. Equip Dragon Equip The Training Toy is a very spiky ball used to train Dragon to fetch or carry things very carefully. Of course the young Dragonlings also like to throw them around sometimes.

Kithkin Goatguide Creature - Kithkin Scout Soldier First strike ~ has double strike as long as you control another Kithkin. Treacherous paths are best taken with one who knows them.2/2 Morphling Backup Tribal Sorcery - Shapeshifter Changeling ( This card is every creature type.) Create two 1/1 red and green Shapeshifter creature tokens with changeling. When you need anyone to help, you get the anyones to help.Worldly Weapon Artifact - Equipment Equipped creature gets +1/+0 for each color among permanents you control. Equip ( : Attach to target creature you control. Equip only as a sorcery.) For each hand that touches it, it grows a blade.

Oops! There are a few challenges waiting on me... FeedbackIdea : I like the decision to take this into a "two forms" way, one who wants the equip, and one who wants the spell. I like the creature design. A common dual faced card is new I think, but these are simple enough where I think it would be OK. I like the equipment too; neat way to get "vigilance or trample" but after attack has been declared. The spell feels right in green, even though we haven't really seen it in that color. It's fitting that it's in the theme of a character who can also be red. I think the card all feel like commons, with the creature being the one that's the most of a stretch in my mind, just due to it's double-sided nature of it. Flo00 : Really like the dragon design. Neat limited card. The sorcery is very fitting. Since it can hit walkers, battles, and players, I say it's appropriately costed. If it was only creatures, it would have been a little underpowered, but as is, it's good. I like the Dragon toy too! Works nicely with extant enrage dragons too. Each design feels appropriate for common. melono : I like the creature as a slightly different version of Ballynick Cohort. The sorcery feels a little strong given other 2-mana spells that make 2 creatures. This spell is easier to cast, has a creature type, and creates two creatures that can conspire spells of 2 colors, and are every relevant creature type. I'd make it 3 mana. The weapon works great! A different take on Civic Saber. I like your flavor texts. These all feel like a little strong for common; not sure they would feel great in uncommon... just a little pushing the power for me at common. FeedbackWinner is Flo00 with a fun group of card, though I am super partial to melono 's designs because I played a TON during Lorwyn and Shadowmoor blocks (also had my first standard FNM win during that time with a totally unexpected Light from Within mono-white hybrid deck), and their design really took me back!

Thanks for the win vizionarius!
Next: Make a vertical cycle - a common, an uncommon and a rare (and/or a mythic rare) - that are either all of the same race/group of creatures or the same spell in different magnitudes.

Not really sure how to credit them so hopefully just "Pokémon" is enough. Since it's the anime, perhaps the studio that made it would work?

Sorry for the long absence; I kept myself busy in RL. {Idea}Marabun Graduates: Interesting combo potential. Seems to be at a good power level. Might be too complex for a common. Grieving Highcasters: Nice combination of adventure and creature effect. Mechanically the creature part could be mono red, but I guess the flavor irons it out. Reunited Iuminati: Funny that the adventure can copy its own creature part, even if that might not be the most efficient way to use it. Overall cycle: Neat way of doing both the spell and the creature part of the challenge. The cards feel well-connected. The "next combat" effects might get strange/confusing results when cast post-combat.
{emberfire17}Bulbsaur: Easy and simple, just how commons are supposed to be. Ivysaur: Nice way of going in-between toxic and infect. Venusaur: Very powerful poisoner. Trample infect is a powerful combo. I really like the poison ward. Overall cycle: Clear cycle though the -1/-1 / poison theme. Really feels like an evolution og the same creature.
{viriss}Young Pig Guard: Easy and simple, just how commons are supposed to be. Pig Guard: Still simple but at a good power level for an uncommon. Old Pig Guard: Tribal myriad sounds like fun. I also like the combination of myriad and die trigger since it makes your opponents think a bit more about their blocks. Wilbert: Good mythic on its own. Also nice way of unsing all the things the rest of the cycle provides. Overall cycle: Good theme and connection of the parts.

Next Challenge: A vehicle, a creature, and an enchantment that reference each other (or one of them references the others at least, that's more common)

Paddle Boat Artifact - Vehicle Whenever ~ attacks, if exactly two creatures crewed it this turn, gain 3 life. Crew 2 ( Tap any number of creatures you control with total power 2 or more: This Vehicle becomes an artifact creature until end of turn.) "Paddle across lake Lugoon, just us two? Pimmy, how romantic!" 3/3 Lake Lugoon's Embrace Enchantment When ~ enters, choose up to two creatures. These creatures get +1/+1 and gain lifelink. : Return ~ to your hand. Only use this ability if there are no creatures chosen with ~ on the battlefield. The lake blesses all lovers that paddle across it. Ilaminia, Immature Knight Legendary Creature - Human Knight When ~ enters, create Squire Mitz, a legendary 1/1 white Soldier creature token. "Paddle Mitz! The Red Mage must be across lake Lugoon! I can feel it!" 1/1

Thank you for the win viriss ! For the next challenge, think of what kind of magic play style you think suits you best (or just your favorite one will do), and make a pair of legendary creatures with the " Partner With" mechanic which reflect and support that play style.

PURE CHAOS!!!! Saleia, Endless Wishes Legendary Creature - Djinn Partner with Erhan, Forced Bargain Flying, haste If a player would draw their first card each turn, instead they reveal the top card of their library. If its a permanent card, the put it onto the battlefield. Otherwise, they draw a card. 2/2 Erhan, Forced Bargain Legendary Creature - Efreet Partner with Saleia, Endless Wishes Flying, first strike At the beginning of each opponent’s upkeep, that player chooses a nonlegendary permanent you own and control. You may exchange control of that permanent with a permanent they control that shares a type with it. If you do, draw a card. 3/3

Flo00{Spoiler}Saleia, Endless Wishes-I love me some symmetrical effects, and Saleia's is definitely a really cool one. The versions of the effect I can find don't seem to let you draw a card otherwise, but seeing as this is replacing the normal draw it makes sense one still gets a card either way. The cost also feels pretty appropriate (would be slightly overpriced if not for the partners with ability), as despite such effect usually being more conditional and costly this version is (again) replacing the normal draw and symmetrical. The one thing about this card that feels off is the haste. It feels almost decorative on a card like this that doesn't seem to have any use for it other than maybe two damage, but you may not even want to attack given this thing is very fragile in combat and its main value is in the effect. It's not even like you're going to be casting a ton of cards that boost it's combat prowess (not to be confused with the mechanic prowess) right away, since you've presumably already drawn your first card the turn you played this. So the haste is really just out of place on this card.
Erhan, Forced Bargain- I like the double way Erhan interacts with Saleia, both guaranteeing a draw on your opponent's turn (or nearly) and giving you the ability to swap weaker cards with stronger ones from your opponent (assuming they don't just keep exchanging lands with you). My one issue is this card breaks the color pie hard. There is exactly one card from the original mirrordin that is pure red, black or rakdos and exchanges permanents in any way. It's a very clearly blue mechanic, though black can exchange life totals. Drawing a card on top (though card draw is universal in colors) only makes the card feel even more blue. emberfire17{Spoiler}Fun names. Storm, Unstable Alchemist- Dealing 2 damage to any target is a pretty strong effect for something as reliable as casting from exile (especially nowadays with impulse draw and such mechanics as plot and foretell). +3/+0 on the other hand turns out to be taken a lot less seriously than I'd think, with stuff like Kiln Fiend or Mercurial Geists being able to easily and reliably get it. Storm's effect can't stack the power increase on a single creature, and you can't necessarily count on the creature being even able to take advantage of it if it lacks haste. The toughness really seems excessive on a card like this, where it doesn't mesh with anything the card does and and the card isn't costly or slow enough to earn protection for the sake of it, especially given the first effect can both serve as removal or close out a game depending on the circumstances. It can even clear battles or planeswalkers. I think this card would need to cost at least . It'd probably be fair then, but it would still need playtesting to be sure and I have no doubt the player base would treat it as combo fuel. Princess, Fearsome Fae- A pretty fair card though I wish there was some inherent way to cast it from exile to take advantage of Storm's ability. Not sure why you didn't just outright give it enrage either, but that's not too important. Winner {Spoiler}I really love Flo00 's effects and I think they have a more creative approach to their synergy which also play more naturally with one another without needing additional cards to enable it (Princess isn't inherently castable from exile and it's rather likely that without you pinging her with damage yourself she'll only get on trigger out of her pseudo-enrage). The hard color pie break is a big issue though there was a marginally more balanced design from Flo00 than emberfire17 , from my point of view anyways. Overall, I'm giving the win to Flo00 !

Mystic of Enlightenment Creature - Bird Monk Flying Whenever you cast your first noncreature spell each turn, draw a card. 2/2 Mystic of Tradition Creature - Efreet Monk First strike The first noncreature spell you cast each turn may be cast as though it had flash. 3/2 Mystic of Discipline Creature - Human Monk Vigilance Each spell after the first spell each player casts each turn costs an additional “Tap an untapped creature you control.” 2/4 An alternative way to word this could be Each player can’t cast more than one spell each turn unless they tap an untapped creature they control as an additional cost to cast each spell after the first. I'm unsure if this makes it more clear or more complicated. These are three Jeskai monks; each a master in one of the four pillars of the Jeskai Way.
