I'll first let you guess what it's about, but the hobby is down low in the spoiler. Commons:Cybernated Artist Artifact Creature - Human Construct : Add two mana in any combination of colors. This mana can only be spend on creature spells. "Backgrounds? I don't have time for that!"3/3 Code Cruncher Creature - Ape Mutant , , Sacrifice an artifact: Create a Treasure token and investigate. (To investigate, create a colorless Clue artifact token with “ , Sacrifice this artifact: Draw a card.”) "When I forego this, I can make this and this instead!"
2/2 Blueprint Designer Artifact Creature - Vedalken Thopter Flying , Discard a card: Draw a card. "The best ideas come after throwing away your other best ideas."0/2 Uncommons:Search for Answers Sorcery Reveal the top card of your library, you may put this card in your hand. Repeat this process until you've put a card in your hand this way. Your opponents create X Treasure tokens, where X is the number of cards revealed this way. Put all revealed cards other than the card put into your hand on the bottom of your library in a random order. Time of Opportunity Instant Only cast ~ if it's after the combat step and no creatures attacked this turn. Create three tapped 1/1 colorless Myr artifact creature tokens. "Any time construction is possible, construction is done."Rare/Mythic:Scheduled Release Enchantment As an additional cost to cast ~, exile three creatures you control. At the beginning of your upkeep, create a token that's a copy of any one creature card exiled by ~. It gains haste until end of turn. "We need to release, whatever it takes!"{Spoiler} The hobby that I'm referencing which I partake in is: participating solo in Game Jams!

EDIT: And here we go!
Fun fact: I did not originally plan for both uncommons to use special frames, those just happened to fit the artwork I came across best

Can you pick which library you draw from? Yes indeed. Archive is a MSEM mechanic created by herziquerzi - even if in first iteration is was its own card type. To quote: XXX.4 - If a player would draw a card while they own multiple libraries, and the draw effect doesn't specify a library, that player chooses which library they own to draw from. XXX.4b - If a player would draw multiple cards at once, each card draw is chosen seperately. XXX.5 - If an effect would refer to a player's undefined library, and that player owns multiple libraries, that effect's controller chooses any library the effected player owns to apply the effect to upon resolution. XXX.5b - For continuous effects that refer to a player's undefined library, the effect's controller chooses a library the effected player owns when the effect is created, and the effect will affect that library for its duration. XXX.6 - If a card would be put into an archive library, that card is put in face up.

Let's do this easy: we choose tribal.
Make three or four cards with all different rarities that are designed around your chosen tribe.

I hope you'll be alright and thanks for the win. Let's do this easy: we choose tribal. Make three or four cards with all different rarities that are designed around your chosen tribe.Joking reaction to reading this challenge was Chandra tribal cause I got that good brainrot. I probably won't act on this impulse (cause I want to make cards for nekusar for a change of pace) but thought the chuckle was worth sharing.
Anyway, here's a medley of advisors: Belfrey Librarian A generic and a black or a blue
Creature — Bat Advisor Common
Flying
Whenever Belfrey Librarian deals combat damage to a player, you and that player each draw a card.
FT: The importance of a librarian’s wingspan is directly proportion to the number of stories in the library.
2/3
| Scraplender Two generic and A red
Creature — Goblin Advisor Uncommon
Whenever you cycle Scraplender or another card, destroy target artifact.
Artifact cards in your hand have cycling a generic and a red
Cycling a generic and a red
2/2 | Whispering Mirage Three generic, a blue, and a black
Creature — Nightmare Advisor Rare
Whenever an opponent mills one or more creature cards, create a 2/2 blue and black and Horror token.
Whenever an opponent mills one or more land cards, add a blue and a black.
Whenever an opponent mills one or more noncreature, nonland card, draw a card.
3/3
| Rarrimog, Contract Poet Four generic, a blue, a black, and a red
Legendary Creature — Demon Advisor Mythic Rare
The first time each player would draw a card each turn, they brainstorm instead.
Whenever a player mills one or more nonland cards, Rarrimog deals 1 damage to them.
Three generic: Mill 2. Each player may activate this ability one each turn.
4/4
|
Rarrimog rulings - To brainstorm, draw three cards then put two cards from your hand on top of your library.
- When a player who has not drawn a card this turn draws multiple cards from a single effect, Rarrimog's first ability cause them to brainstorm then draw one fewer cards.
- When Rarrimog replaces the first draw of multiple draws from a single effect, there is no moment between a player finishing their brainstorm and their drawing the rest of the cards to finish resolving the effect Rarrimog replaced during which any player has priority to activate Rarrimog's third ability, nor for abilities to trigger.
- Rarrimog's first ability by itself cause no meaningful change in the game state other than the total number of cards a player drew beyond the first instance. Multiple Rarrimogs can be short cut by brainstorming once and calculating how many times relevant abilities should trigger based on how many cards that player actually would have drawn.
- When replacement effects other than Rarrimog's first ability are acting on drawing cards, this is not true and multiple Rarrimogs cannot be shortcut this way.

Imma just do this one quick: hydraheadhunter - those are very advisory advisors. Some things I'd say could be a bit polished up like a 2/3 flier for 2 mana (in common), but the designs are unique and fun. twintania - fairly simple cards, that I could actually see be designed stronger than they are with today's powerlevel. Designs aren't very spectacular and are based on the olden Carriers. Winner is hydraheadhunter PS: Chandra would've been totallly allowed and would've been pretty funny

PS: Chandra would've been totallly allowed and would've been pretty funny Oh yeah, but see's I'd already got my chandra's made and it'd been a phoned in entry.
Anyway, as for the next challenge, I'm on terminally on tumblr. This means several things, but relevant here is that the only things in my brain right now are #Sansweep, and "There Is No Queen Of England." —Tighten. I imagine both of these would be a bit too narrow a prompt for the multiple card challenge, so I'mma try widening it a bit. We Didn't Start The Fire is a 1889 Song by singer-songwriter Billy Joel in which he, frustrated by ignorant people saying 'we didnt have these kinds of problems in the sixties' said, "heres a list of some of what happened in the sixties." It's a lyrical masterpiece of complex scanson. I mean look at this stress graph for the single verse. It's broadly speaking in an irregular tertius paeon tetrameter, which is remarkable in its own right, but then the way it's irregular is even more fucking rediculous. Five stressed syllables in a row? It shouldn't work, for that way lies madness Andbutforyet, it does.
People do a lot of lyric edits of it to update it to more current events, and the queen of england's death is gonna make it into every single version of the song about 2022. So.
We Didn't Start The Fire⸺ Choose 3-5 events that happened between 2002 and 2012 which could be used as lyrics in a rendition of We Didn't Start the Fire, then design cards inspired by those events. The events inspiring the cards don't need to be apparrent in the cards themselves, this challenge is a inspiratory jumping off point, not a conclusion.

I'll be honest, I didn't get much of your initial explanation - but I think I got the most important parts
To everyone interested (and potentially looking for inspiration), I looked at this timeline and chose 5 events. Cards are already done, but are still missing (in some cases) names and (every single one) artwork - so they'll be added later, but at least I know I will have an entry in the end this time
Chosen events: - 2002 The Euro enters circulation.
- 2004 Facebook is formed
- 2005 Pope John Paul II dies, Benedict XVI becomes Pope.
- 2006 The International Astronomical Union creates the first formal definition of a planet, and excludes Pluto from the list.
- 2012 The Higgs boson is discovered.
EDIT: I'll be honest, I'm not 100% happy with all the name/artwork choices - but with no luck of finding better artwork fitting a less literal approach and/or more time, I'll settle on these cards for now to at least not miss entering once again

Yeah, I was nerding out about scanson while most of my banwidth was taken up by the unified zeitgeist of tumblr's latest obsession, because I'm lowkey mad (jealous) about the fact that the meter works. Five stressed syllables in a row. How, why?

Sorcery Each player sacrifices a Treasure. Each player who can't sacrifice a Treasure, sacrifices a creature instead. Each player who can't sacrifice either loses 5 life. "As the markets crash, so do some psyches."
2. The Cryptological Exchange Legendary Enchantment Artifact Whenever you would create a Treasure token, create two Treasure tokens with no abilities instead. "Trust me my friend, this is better money!"3. Pig's Pestilence Enchantment Creatures you control have base power and toughness 0/0 and are Pigs in addition to their other types. Contagious - At the beginning of your upkeep, you may sacrifice a creature. If you do, target player gains control of ~. 4. Calendar of the End Artifact Vanishing 3 ( This permanent enters the battlefield with three time counters on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a time counter from it. When the last is removed, sacrifice it.) When ~ leaves the battlefield, if it had no time counters on it, destroy all non-land permanents.

Well two entries is par for course with this challenge so letsa judge. Between the two of you, four for four, I think Daij_Djan and melono had entries of equal quality, but I think melono cinches it cause Search for the Intangible's just too busted. Like it seems fine in isolation, but this is a stupidly strong alternate win-con in any relentless style deck; if I name persistant petitioners, I've got (in a correctly build petitioner's deck) a 1/3 chance of winning the game immediately for two mana, and if I don't win immediately, I draw a card and I can try again later; That's almost at the cusp of power nine levels of bullshit.

Trail of Breadcrumbs Enchantment When Trail of Breadcrumbs enters the battlefiled, create two Food tokens. , Sacrifice a Food: Untap target creature. Gingerbread House Artifact - Food : Add one mana of any color. Whenever one or more creatures attack you, untap Gingerbread House. , , Sacrifice Gingerbread House: You gain 3 life. Captured for Fattening Enchantment - Aura Enchant creature If enchanted creature would untap, put a +1/+1 counter on it instad. Burn the Witch Instant Burn the Witch deals 4 damage to target creature. I'm honest, I completely forgot these types of card - very good point. Ironically, the first iteration of the design required naming a legendary card - but that restriction got dropped at some point.

Thank you for the win, melono. The next challenge is to design 3 to 5 cards with a western flavor, like those in Lorado, for example.
A few weeks have passed without entries, I'll change the challenge: Design 3 to 5 cards themed around an anime or a manga you like.

I was ready to post western cards though delayed for two reasons. First, my mechanism this time is difficult to judge the balance for there's no precedent one in cannon. Second, I wanted to use works of Akihiro Ito, who is my favorite gun action manga artist, for all cards. I planned to go to manga cafe to get his pictures but I was sick these some days so my plan failed. Eventually I got his pictures from online manga service for I remembered monthly point in the site was left over. Here is my western mechanism which represents gunmans' style of "you draw first". Quick draw ( For each spell and ability in stack, this spell or ability costs less to play.) I am imaging this limited environment as three phases. In the initial phase, the first player beats the last player. And I hope there is an cessation in middle stage. I will put some kinds of common 2/6 for 4 mana in this set to have the still time come. And at last, the one who riped hit time start to attack. In a flurry of quick draw spells and abilities, the tendency of the game is settled in the one long turn. Covering Fire works both as though a mana acceleration to stack a bunch of quick draws and ace in the hall against such an offence. You would feel Blaza's prevent ability odd. I considered her to be red-white, but I allowed me to make her pure red for some reasons. First, there are some precedents for her, Ogre Enforcer, Callous Giant, and sometimes red had creatures with protection from red. They are ancient cards but color pie was enough aware of on the point of Weatherlight, where Ogre Enforcer came from. So, red had a lost tradition to prevent damage from a certain source. Second, red was taken away land destruction. Face damage is also weakened. Threaten that given instead is a good role, but I don't satisfied with impulsive draw. Most of them look inferior than blue draw and I don't feel the taste of red from them. And most colors are good at disturbing self color strength, such as blue uncounterable, white enchant removal, black graveyard exiling, green fog( though never seen after Ikoria). Red's strength is noncombat damage so red resists against noncombat damage can be regarded as to be reasonable though it is not in current color pie. Last, I wanted her to be pure red. And thus, they are not from a single manga. Blaza and Covering Fire are Wilderness and others are Belle Starr. Blaza and White Rabbit are my characters inspired from the mangas and not appears in the original.

Whelp, it's sevens, so time to shitpost the first bad idea that came into my brain. Aijou Rentarou, Perfect Boyfriend A generic, a white, and a red
Legendary Creature — Human Boyfriend
Girlfriend cards you own cost one less of to cast. This can reduce the amount of colored mana you pay. Girlfriend creatures you control have Ward WUBGR. At the begining of your upkeep, if you control 100 legendary girlfriends with different names, you win the game. T: Pay WUBGR any number of times. Fetch that many girlfriends to the battlefield.
|
Based on The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You, Rentarou's the boyfriend in what is promised to become a harem of one boy and one hundred girls (I'm hoping that girl 100 is a gender bent rentarou with her own harem of 100 boys that prompts a how I met your fathers who really love me sort of spin off, but that's besides the point). I don't want to decide which girlfriends to design, so I designed all of the that we have so far. Please DONT give an indepth review of each girlfriend; I don't want to force you to do that much work for a shitpost. {The Girls} Hanazono Hakari, Clumsy Schemer A blue, a black, and a green
Legendary Creature — Human Girlfriend
Partners with Inda Karane Whenever a creature enters the battlefield under your control, you draw a card then discard a card. If that creature is legendary, you may draw an additional card before you discard.
2/4
| Inda Karane, Tsunderederedere A white and two red
Legendary Creature — Human Girlfriend
Partners with Hanazono Hakari Lifelink Whenever you draw a card, deal 2 damage to any target. If you target yourself, untap up to one permanent you control.
4/2
| Yoshimoto Shizuka, Bookish Bean Two blue
Legendary Creature — Human Girlfriend
If you would draw a card, scry X first where X is the number of cards you've drawn this turn plus 1.
0/1
| Eiai Nano, Pracgmaitc Anchor Four generic, Two blue, and two white
Legendary Creature — Human Girlfriend
Spells you cast with mana value greater than three cost X less where X is their mana value minus 3. This reduces the generic cost first then reduce the colored mana cost. You may cast spell with mana value three or less without paying their mana costs.
4/4
| Yakuzen Kusuri, Brilliant Apothrocary a generic, two blue or green, and a red
Legendary Creature — Human Girlfriend
You may transform Yakuzen Kusuri once per turn. Creatures you control get +1/+0. A blue and a red, and tap: choose from among deathtouch, first strike, flying, indestructible, lifelink, menance, reach, shroud, trample, vigilance, and -1/-1 at random, then put a counter of that type target creature you control. Yakuzen Kusuri, Shrunken Apothrocary [No cost (Green and Blue identity)]
Legendary Creature — Human Scientist Girlfriend
You may transform Yakuzen Kusuri once per turn. Creatures you control get +0/+2. two blue, two green, and untap: choose two counters in any combination of counters not already on target creature with counters on it and +1/+1 counters. Remove a counter from that creature then put the chosen counters on it.

At the beginning of your upkeep create two treasure.
Treasure you control have " Tap, sacrifice this artifact: add two mana of any one color."
3/5
| Haraga Kurumi, Hunge Glutton Two white and a red

Whenever a creature enters the battlefield under you control, create a food. If that creature is legendary, create two food instead.
Sacrifice three food: untap all lands you control. Activate this ability only once each turn.
3/4
| Meido Mei, Perfect Maid Two white and two blue
Legendary Creature — Human Girlfriend
Whenever a non-mana ability of a permanent is activated or triggered, you may pay 2 to copy it. You may choose new targets for the copy.
2/6
| Sutou Iku, Star-Athlete Four red
Legendary Creature — Human Girlfriend
Indestructible
Masochism Painlink (Damage being dealt to this permanent causes you to gain that much life.) If damage would be dealt to Sutou Iku, that much damage plus 1 is dealt to her instead.
2/2
| Utsukushisugi Mimimi, Beauty Manifest A white, a blue, and a green
Legendary Creature — Human Girlfriend
Hexproof Creatures cannot attack you or planeswalkers you control unless their controller pays 2.
2/2
| Kakure Meme, Shy Deredere A black and a white
Legendary Creature — Human Girlfriend
If Kakure Meme entering or leaving the battlefield would cause an ability to trigger, you may have that ability trigger one addition or one fewer times instead.

twintania Tumble Weed is alright; I didn't get Covering Fire's second part's wording; Quick Draw is a flavorful and interesting mechanic, but I think I'd limit it to (For each spell and ability your opponents control in stack, this spell or ability costs less to play.), since otherwise all you'd need is something with an activated ability that doesn't cost mana to fully exploit Quick Draw effects; I also think that this change would give a more direct idea of a western-style standstill with your enemies; Quick Reload is good; White Rabbit 's first part should start with "Whenever" instead of "When", the protection from opponents until the stack isn't empty is an interesting defensive ability; Blaza is overall a nice mythic, it really gives the feel of a gunslinger ready for a shootout.
emberfire17 The wording for Ruby should be "defending player pays " instead of "must pay". For Crescent Rose, the wording should be "Equipped creature gets +2/+0 and has haste and first strike.", the +/+ effects are placed before ability bestowing. I'd raise Crescent Rose's casting cost and rearrange cost either by increasing them by or by replacing of their costs with a (thus making them respectively and ). Blake is alright. I'd raise Gambol Shroud's casting cost by at least and I'd change its equip cost to . Nice flavor, the cards represent well through their effects the characters' abilities and weapons.
hydraheadhunter As you asked, I won't do an indepth review of each girlfriend, but let me say that I'm simply impressed by the amount of cards in your entry. Aijou would definitely be too OP as a commander for a girlfriend deck. The girlfriends as well tend to be OP, for example Hanazono with her treasure ramping and Kurumi with her food creating. Painlink is an interesting ability.
The winner is twintania!

Thx for the win. Next challenge is to design some cards which make a great combo when you complete all of them like station cycle and module cycle. The way to complete is not necessary to have them in play. I didn't get Covering Fire's second part's wording; Quick Draw is a flavorful and interesting mechanic, but I think I'd limit it to (For each spell and ability your opponents control in stack, this spell or ability costs less to play.), since otherwise all you'd need is something with an activated ability that doesn't cost mana to fully exploit Quick Draw effects; I also think that this change would give a more direct idea of a western-style standstill with your enemies; Covering Fire I meant that for example, if your Morphling is stacking two +1/-1 and a shroud, Covering Fire deals 3 damage to it. Quick Draw Come to think of it, your opinion is reasonable. One thing I concern is that then it becomes a purely punishment mechanism and it might to be stressful. But this my opinion is only just an idea, it would be possible to restrict it to react only for opponents' action with no stress.
