ImpSpiritGuide: I'm Back, had issues relating to data loss including login for old site and all the template work I'd done. Beginning rework on Pokemon template. Short history, retired MtG player (haven't played much since the Modern card face). Family member plays Pokemon, I currently only own no CCG (prefer to lose the first C). Templating background, won't work on MtG (to labyrinthine to link into existing templates), have little time now but needed something to break monotony and this fit bill.

Hi, I'm NivOridocs, or Niv for short. I'm italian, so sorry for my poor english. I've been using MSE for, idk, 10 years I guess and I think its time for me to join this forum. For now I'm here for the contests (i.e. the Card of the Week one), in the future who knows. In MtG I'm a Jhonny with my two "modern" (read as "for fun") decks, a Time Spiral's Thallid and a blue/black unblockable/aggro/rogue/something... yeah, I don't win very often, but when I win, I do it with style.

Hello everyone! Ralph here from Eastern Oregon. I've been playing Magic for 23+ years, and probably coming up with card ideas for just as long. I've tried my hand at the competitive scene, where I've traveled to Portland for several big events, and will occasionally enter into a local PPTQ or FNM. My favorite competitive format is Modern. I always try to make it to the prerelease and release events, and will sometimes join a limited pool. But my true love for the game comes from casual play, and that has been true ever since my brother taught me how to play. Nothing better than gathering fiends and family around the table for hours of spell slinging. I was skeptical of Commander at first, but fell in love with it when the social aspects of it. It's my favorite way to play right now, and more than likely will be for the foreseeable future. As far as my card creation goes, I don't really make sets, as I have neither the skill or patience to pull it off. I make individual cards, that don't have any connection to an overall theme. I just like making cards! Top down design is my favorite. Recently, I've gotten addicted to making cards based on video games, and have dubbed it Gamechase. It is a Planechase variant, where you travel to different games instead of planes. The planar die is altered to include a new symbol (haven't come up with an idea as to what that is yet) that when rolled, you draw from a community Gamechase deck where the supplemental non-game cards are located. Again, no overlying theme or anything, just fun flavorful cards to play with. I have only recently began posting cards online via Facebook and Twitter. If you'd like to check out some of my creations, here are the links, which can also be found in my signature: www.facebook.com/GamechaseMtG/twitter.com/GamechaseMtGIf you like what you see, please consider a like or follow! I am always open to constructive criticism, and would love to hear any feedback anyone has either on here, Facebook or Twitter! In closing, I want to say thank you to everyone who has contributed to MSE2 and its community. It truly is a card creator's paradise. Farewell for now, and I look forward to seeing everyone's creative works!

Jeske Couriano here, reporting back in after a bit of a hiatus. (I blame FFXIV and PoE.)
I've been making custom Magic cards for about a decade and a half now, and migrated to using Magic Set Editor when MtG Editor got C&D'd. Aside from making custom Magic sets I've also dabbled in custom D&D stuff (the likelihood of anyone seeing that is at zero and will stay there; all I will say is that it was a learning experience in balance) and custom Munchkin sets.
I'm also largely responsible for updating the keywords file for Space: the Convergence, though I will concede that it's in dire need of an update by now. (I'm also aware half of you are likely scratching your head wondering what I'm talking about.)

'sup guys! Name's Sonitek, here, and I was attracted to MSE as a strongly mod-able platform for creating custom cards for several games, ranging from Magic to Yu-Gi-Oh! if you were good enough at scripting. I am personally working on a TCG of my own, but all projects face their difficulties, and mine are that I procrastinate a lot more than I have any right to. Also, scripting for MSE isn't like scripting in other languages that I've found, so, if anyone know something I don't, it'd be welcome x.x

Hello, I'm monger. You probably don't remember me because I never did anything major LUL
to be blunt- this is an awkward post for me because it's the fifth time I've come back to this forum. I joined in 2013 as a young teen (it physically hurts to look back on those cards) but after a time got caught up in life and moved on from the forum. A few months later things had settled down, so I returned. The problem was that each time I left, I left with at least one contest unjudged. Fearing rejection as mid/high students do, I concluded that I just had to come back as someone else. so I did. And the cycle repeated itself a number of times over a period of three-four years.
I think I sort of knew then and know now that no one would deeply care about leaving a contest unjudged, but the whole cycle thing is one of the many moments I think about and cringe at. idk if it's because it's 2am or what but that felt kind of cathartic. no more leaving (at least, uninformed)

Hello All!
The name's greyphoenix. I'm a 17-year-old high school senior from the hellscape of Phoenix, Arizona and I've played Magic: The Gathering since my 12th Birthday with Pre-Release Dragon's Maze being my first non-Kitchen Table event (5 years ago now, Holy Shit...)
I mostly design one-off cards, but am working on a set right now. (It's proving to be quite challenging) In Canonical Magic, I play Modern and EDH.
Modern Deck: Burn (Red/White, Splashing Green) EDH Deck: Having Trouble Deciding between 2 (Hint: They both have something to do with Ravnica)
My MTG Color Identity would definitely be Boros. I'm a warrior at heart.
Outside of the MTG Community, I do a LOT.
-I'm a huge History Nerd. -I'm an Eagle Scout with Gold and Silver Palms as well as Wilderness First Aid Training -I'm taking the International Baccalaureate Diploma -I'm certified bi-literate in English and Spanish -I'm a member of my high school's Speech and Debate Team. -I play the piano (pretty good if I say so myself) -I'm trained in Tae Kwon Do (Martial Arts) -I'm the Dungeon Master for a Dungeons and Dragons Campaign at my public Library -I'm applying to a bunch of colleges to do something with either History or Microbiology, maybe even Law.
I'm especially fond of learning about the time period 1933 to 1989 in Europe and the Middle East- so from the Rise of Nazism to the Fall of the Berlin Wall...

Hey guys, first time here! I'm MrLozano. I've been playing Magic for around one year and a half and 'cause I'm a big freak I came here as soon as I discovered the existence of this forum. I have some experience using MSE and I will be posting some things about a set I'm currently designing. About me: I enjoy fantastic literature and anime (One Piece). (I also play League of Legends but I don't feel very proud of it.) So, basically that's it. Hello to every one and have a nice day.

Hiya! I'm Loiuzein (Loius, not Louis). I started messing with custom cards zillions of years ago on MTGDarkness (defunct, merged with MTGSalvation), but haven't done anything in a long time. Recently came across a set I had almost done and after a few searches, realized this place exists and there's a ton of awesome new card styles and whatnot so of course I've had to pick it back up to try to finish it off.
As far as playstyle, Johnny all the way with a splash of Warp World.

Hi all! I'm GeekyGamerZack, and I was a member of the old MSE forums. I've been a casual Magic player for years now, and identify myself mainly as a Johnny Vorthos. I also enjoy D&D, and find DMing to be my main preference; my current play-by-post campaign is actually Magic-themed, and I'm working on a number of cards related to the campaign that, rather than being designed to be played, are more focused on the flavour of the characters and settings (I did say I'm mainly a Vorthos, after all). In terms of projects, I've been working on concepts for two blocks named Tarkir Unwritten and Empires of Novalan, with the planes featured in them being the basis for my campaign's first two full chapters (the prologue was basically plane-hopping from Ravnica to Kaladesh to the "real" Tarkir, before setting the stage for the campaign proper). Tarkir Unwritten is a "what if" block that focuses on an alternative version of one of my favourite planes, and features a colour identity-matters theme, whereas Empires of Novalan is mostly faction-based tribal with a theme that gradually builds up to "monocolour vs. multicolour". Anyway, that was my long-winded introduction. Have an awesome day, y'all! --Zack--

Hello everyone. I'm Silverkite, casual extraordinaire, and creator of custom cards mostly for my and my friends' amusement. I've been using MSE for years now, and decided to register mostly to keep up with the updates (I'm looking forward to the relatively new Legendary frame). Just so you know, on Tarkir I'd probably be a Temur. Edit: Huh, would you look at that. Seems Cajun has it covered regarding the new alterations. Good going.

Hi there, I´m Vedrick. I love Magic and I was doing custom (childish) set for years, just for some fun with friends. But I would like to do something proper, so I decide to come here. Hope you guys can help me, and of course, I´m more than happy to help, chat or assist if needed.
I´ve been playing magic for 12 years, I love graveyards and milling, and I hope I can be part of this community.
PS. English is not my language, so please forgive my typos and grammar mistakes, corrections and advices always welcome. Also, long time without posting or been part of forums, if I´m doing something wrong, just let me know guys! Thanks!

Greetings!
I've been playing MtG since Tempest, and I used to be extremely involved in the custom card forums over at MTGSalvation (and before that MTGNews). I've been looking at getting back into the swing of things and figured I'd download the latest edition of this most excellent program. I was able to pull in my old cards (well over 3000) just fine, including some of the art I had associated, etc, but when I go to save, I get a MinGW Runtime Assertion error (Assertion failed!), and the program crashes. Can anyone direct me to the troubleshooting thread or tell me how I can fix this? It saves new files just fine, but I'm going to cry if I have to re-enter all 3000 cards into a new file. T_T
I also think I remember there being some problems with the font a while back; have those been resolved (and, if so, where can I download the right font)? Also, also, my flavor text doesn't italicize? Is this the norm or am I doing something wrong?
Thank you,
Cantripmancer

Hello, everyone. I realized that I've been posting for a little bit now, and haven't done one of these yet.
I'm Kefke, named after the first D&D character I really loved playing. I've been into Magic off and on for a really long time. I think mostly, though, I'm still stuck back in Ice Age where I got my start (thanks to a box of hand-me-down cards), and some really old school sensibilities probably show through in my designs sometimes. I like custom cards most for the potential to do things that WotC R&D wouldn't. Generally, I'll make a card whenever something inspires me to do so - sometimes just because someone who supposedly knows said it can't be done, and I want to be contrarian. Lately, I've been wanting to do a set where colourless cards act as a rule bending/breaking "sixth colour". My favourite line out of the old rule books they used to include in every boxed pack is the golden rule, "If a card contradicts the rules, the card takes precedence." The golden rule technically still exists, but the modern version has a lot more qualifiers after it. To me, there was something more elegant about the simpler wording that got lost along the way.

Hi. I'm Parasign, formerly Taresivon. I posted occasionally on the old MSE forums a while back. Recently I decided to check in to see how this forum was doing, and I was blown away by how much the general card design quality has improved. I'm currently well into college, so it's unlikely that I'll post much, but I might participate in some of the games and community projects and maybe even showcase a set or two.

If anyone with a ton of knowlegde what's to hit me up so I can get back into It that would be DOPE. And of course once I remember / figure it out again I'd be glad to help on any projects other people are working on.

Hi, I'm Arsinoe. Been an MTG player for a while, although I don't play very often. I find myself admiring the artwork and creating custom cards more than I actually play!
I haven't really shared any of my custom cards anywhere, partially because I mostly do crossover fansets. I also like "new colors" like Pink and Purple, so...lots of my cards are kinda janky!

Hi everyone, I'm Hex. I found MSE a couple of days ago and have been messing around with card ideas and looking through other people's works here since then. I started playing casually around the time BFZ released, started playing more seriously around the time of SOI, now I primarily play Commander and Canadian Highlander (though I just play the same Mono- Isochron Scepter deck for both usually) but I also play Modern (Mono- Control/Land Destruction). I have an affinity for draw-go control, stax, and all-in combo decks, but in a more casual setting I tend to play janky tribal decks (read as: Knights/Angels) instead. I play a lot of D&D, and I may or may not be brainstorming ideas for a set based in my homebrew setting as I type this. I also play many different video games, my favorite currently being Slay the Spire. Alright, this intro is getting a little long for my taste. I'll see you guys around the forum.

Post by collex on Jun 10, 2019 16:05:42 GMT
Hi again everyone.
My name is Collex. I'm 30 years old, from Canada, and currently finishing a Ph.D. French is my mother tongue, but I am fully bilingual. I still make the odd English mistake from time to time though. Sorry, eh?
I have made a habit of coming on this forum, doing a few contests (even won a couple, including a CotW one) and then schoolwork catch up with me and I disappear into the ether. Took me a little bit of time to find my way back this time, since the forum has moved.
Design-wise, I'm a Vorthos through and through. Top-down design is my jam, and the render is very important to me. Unsurprisingly, Picture into Card is my favorite contest. I am no developer (or play designer I guess they call it nowadays), so my costing is often completely out of whack. Psychographic wise, I tend to be a Johnny/Timmy hybrid. I adore tribal decks, decks centered around a single planeswalker and their life story (hence why I love the Planeswalker Deck) and I adore learning the history and the design philosophies behind the cards.
I haven't played the game on the regular since Origins, but War of the Spark got me to perk my head up and having to sort out and pack my collection in preparation of an anticipated move late this year reawakened the Magic itch, so here I am. As usual, I'll mostly do contests, but I'm itching to try this Battle Board thing as well.
Ok, that's enough of me talking. See you all soon!
