Official Introductions Thread

'Sup, I'm Gurfafflekins, previously Gurfle.  I have a lot of variations of the same name... call me any of them, really.  As long as there's a "Gurf" at the start, I'm cool with it.

-I play lots of casual Commander, and some casual 60-card stuff and have played Standard in the past.  In fact, I got into my local top 8 on game day that had very competitive decks with a deck based around Gudul Lurker and many, MANY buff spells in the Dragons of Tarkir days (hence, my favorite set).
-I am an avid collector of tokens-- I have an entire fat-pack box full and recently had to reintroduce them into a new box as the other got full-- so if you've got info on any rare tokens for cheap, PM is waiting.
-As some of you may have seen, my card designs are coin flips- either pretty alright or hot garbage... where the Hell is Krark's Thumb when you need it?

Also, I consider myself the rookie for eternity around these parts.

I might as well poke my head in here and say hello too. If you were on the old forums, you may remember me as Aarhg. If you weren't on the old forums that's still the name I go by, so you didn't miss anything.
I've been an on and off user of MSE for many years, and I still use it from time to time if I get a neat idea for a card. I'm not the prime example of an active forum member, but I'll show up every now and then, probably for a 'Card of the Week' contest.

In the real world I'm an avid drummer and amateur graphic designer. I also have mediocre drawing skills, as you can see from my avatar. Other than that I tend to spend a bit too much time on the Playstation.

Hey all! JN here. I've been around for a while, although I'm not super active. New forum looks good!

Booster pack rarity systems are stretched serve three functions - pacing new players' exposure to complexity, creating limited formats that don't grow stale, and maintaining primary and secondary market value - and because of this fail to be great at any. Rarity structures, along with systems of access and distribution, need an overhaul. However, departing from player expectations around rarity, limited and set structure has its own challenges.

When I'm not trying to unravel that conundrum, I'm delving into how games can end up unsatisfying for both players, and how to design to minimize that. Or designing cards that enable new archetypes without displacing existing ones. Or ruminating on the finer points of color pie philosophy.

Outside of game design I like to cook, snuggle, and strive for multi-generational survival via dual angles of science and organized dissent.

I'm Yoshi, also known as [Skittish] Blossoming Branch or LuxTheOmnicaster. I'm currently going through that wonderful thing called high school where your significance is for the most part reduced to a few numbers known as your grades. That aside though, I'm enjoying school for the most part - I screw around with writing, am a competent public speaker and don't get nearly enough sleep. I'm also dabbling here and there with various clubs, although my favorite ones have been our HOSA (Health Occupationists Students of America Canada) and a baking club, where we bake stuff and donate money to charities.

On that topic, cooking is fun. So is sushi, for that matter.

As for cards, I've long stopped playing, although I want to get into MSEM2. I've made two sets (four if you count a badly made duel deck and a miniset of only creatures), two FtV products (one based around the wonderful Storm Crow and another based on the U symbol, which indicated a union between two mechanics <credit goes to ZephyrPhantom for that one) and am currently working on a number of duel decks. My favorite card is Mirrorweave and my favorite archetype is aggro. The two go well together in a lovely way when you play modular artifact aggro with MW, turning your opponent's board into 0/0s. I have a soft spot for durdly Maze's End control, though.

In terms of what I do? I bike, I play various single player games (currently hooked on Slay the Spire) and I come up with concepts for all sorts of games, with varying degrees of quality. I also bake, usually to a good degree of success. Currently aiming for grade 8 piano, so that's a s'well time. I've been spending way too much time on MSE but I've started scaling back on that since grade 11/12 marks matter a lot, so that's bound to change.

Howdy I'm Myles. I was Hedgehog on the old forums maybe 3 years ago and I decided that while I may not have the.. spark to keep playing the game physically, I'm plenty interested in building sets and designing cards once more!

Hey, new here. Barely used the old forums twice I believe.

Currently working on two sets: Jahath and Frimruld and trying to make a Terraforming like mechanic work (making lands into can't tap for mana lands).

I am known probably from that one post on a Terraform mechanic, considered too wordy.

Hey guys! I'm DisposableHero, the same one from the old forums. I was pretty active on the old forums years ago, but life got in the way, so I took a long absence. After several attempts to be more active, I'm finally back here. Can't wait to see what we all make!

Hiya, I'm Kazerima, a holdover from the old forums and site. Although I've never been very active, I've been designing custom cards since I was 8 years old and discovered the Pokemon TCG during Base Set and Jungle. These days I'm working on a mineraft modpack, my own TCG prototype, and mourning my inability to ever catch The Great Design Search by a couple of months every single time it launches.
